Maximum program size

I would like to know what the limitations on size is for a LabView 6.1 application. I have seemed to have hit a limit at 11,997 KB. It could be a sub item (such as a maximum number of property nodes, or loops within loops) limit that I have unknowingly reached. Could it have some relationship to hardware, such as installed RAM or size of SWAP file, or the number of processes running at the same time?
I only have about 25 percent of my program written, so I either need a way to write larger programs or I will have to totally re-think my program.

Hi DF et al,
I have digested the article and would like to ask a follow-up Q. I hope you or someone else can offer some guidance.
You said
When routing data through subVIs, make sure all front panel terminals are on the root of the block diagram, not inside a case statement, loop, or other container. The memory copy algorithms generate more copies if the terminals are not on the root.
1) I have to confess that I have never heard the term "root" applied to a block diagram. What didn't I read that talks about the root?
2) If I ran RT would I still see this limit (RTX?)?
3) If I busted the application in half and ran one half as an exe and the other half in the devlopment environment, would the two applications map to sepearte memory spaces?
4) Could I run half under Windows and the other half as RTX (provided #2 is true)?
5) Could I serve VI's from VI's from a number of exe's to get around the limit using a divide and conquer approach?
6) If I have to resort to a bunch of distributed platforms that monitor sub-sections of the application, VI server may be useful in exposing my LV2's to the GUI machine. Does a VI that is invoked from another machine using "Call by referce' method (on the calling machine) run in the UI thread on the serving machine?
7) Do you know of any way to determine in which thread a section of LV code is running in (So I can answer Q's like #6 myself)?
If you have read this far thank you!
Here is some background.
My application will utilize a shared memeory interface to monitor the performance of a new "Widget System" (WS). The WS is composed of set of interacting nodes that use the distributed shared memory to coordinate their operation in real time. I have to record all the interactions, time-stamping each event that occur during each test.
I am handling the above requirements using a special LV global that only replaces the elements that change.
THe shared memory space has been broken down into tables with each table being handled by an an appropriate "expert" that understands how to handle the details associated with the table.
I plan to set up one LV2 for each table so that I can use disimilar "sample rates" for each table (This may end up being my ticket out of this mess!). This will let me re-allocate memory that would have been wasted when one of the tables needed to be sampled at a higher rate.
One of the big requirements of this project (show stopong big) is that the data MUST be kept in volotile memory and can NOT be written to disk until all security requirements are met.
So no writing to disk until everything is done. No, no temp files.
THe other requirement which may be flexible is 1000Hz sample rate for minutes at a time.
Last question for now,
Does the Mac OS have this same limit?
Thanks for reading!

    Is there a maximum program size for the AWM GUI?
    I have a program that I migrated from Oracle Exress to Oracle 9i. The program runs fine, but I get buffer errors whenever I edit it with the Analytic Workspace Manager GUI. Only my longest program has this problem.
    Has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix/workaround?
    Thank you,

    This problem is solved with the 10.0.0.1.0 AWM client, which is on the 10G CD.

  • Maximum file size in picture ring?

    Hello folks!
    I am planing to use a picture ring with a quite big amount of data needed.
    My question: is there a maximum data size that i can embed in a picture ring (number of pictures or overall file sizes)?
    Thanks!

    If you have enough memory to keep all the images open simultaneously, then something like this might help.  Put all your images in the same directory on disk and have no other files in that directory. Then use List Folder from the Advanced File palette to get an aaray of the filenames.  Feed that array to a for loop where you open all the files and place the images into the pict ring.  I have written a "slide show" program which does this. Never tried it with 400 images though.
    If you do not have enough memory for all the images, then you need to manage the iamges much more carefully.

  • Maximum File Size on Import?

    Hello all, been a ghost reader here but this is my first question (love the forums, btw, super helpful).
    I've been editing a feature film on Premiere Pro. We are nearing the end and I received a DPX sequence back from coloring. Upon importing into Premiere (Intermediate Media Timebase set to the appropriate framerate), the importer hangs up. If I click on anything, the program crashes.
    Here are my questions:
    Is a 2TB DPX sequence a "normal" size for any project? This seems insanely large to me, but this is also my first feature so I could just be ignorant.
    If 2TB is normal, is there a maximum file size Premiere can import?If not, should my system be able to handle a 2TB file?
    The 2TB file is on an external drive, connected via USB3. Potential to connect via eSATA.
    System Specs:
    3770k CPU
    SSD for OS (256GB)
    External Raid 10 - 6TB
    32gb RAM
    GTX 580 GPU
    All help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply, Jim.
    Just to clarify, a file this size (or sequence of files) is common? But generally the only way to handle them is with a RAID 3 setup?
    My next question would be, isn't there a lossless format the color people could give me that isn't 2TB? The file I gave them was just over 800GB so it seems really unnecessary for it to be this large.

  • Maximum file size of 2,0 Gb exceeded

    Searched all over the place and found one thread with no solutions, so I´ll try again..
    I have a project with two mono recordings, each aiff and 530 mb big. Thats 2 hours and 24 minutes. When I try to bounce this in logic 8 (to mp3), I get the message "maximum file size of 2,0 Gb exceeded - please choose a shorter bounce time". ??? If anyone knows how to get around this, pleeaase let me know.
    I imported the aiff files to garageband, and garageband had no trouble bouncing it to mp3, so if garageband is able to bounce it, surely logic should be!? The reason I need to bounce it from logic is because of the editing features there, so doesn´t really help that garageband is able to bounce it....also tried importing the mp3 to logic and then bounce, but same problem occured. I´ve also tried turning down the quality to lowest, but doesn´t help. Please help!

    Just some thoughts on this...
    If the OP is saving to a Mac formatted drive it's not a problem with creating a file on the drive. Might try saving to different location.
    It's possible this may is an internal error from Logic and. It probably has little to do with the actual file size as much as it does with the overall length of time of the bounce.
    In other words... if Logic sees a certain length of time for a bounce, no matter the file type, it thinks the bounced file will exceed the 2GB file limit, which is leftover programming from earlier version of Mac & PC Logic when both operating systems imposed a 2GB file size restriction.

  • Maximum file size for importing into Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi,
    I'm considering recording raw video, no compression at 720p, 30 fps for 20-30 min.  This woudl result in a file that is close to 80 Gbytes.  I'm wondering what the maximum file size for importing into premiere Pro is and if I need to split this file up into smaller pieces.  Any recommendations on how I may deal with uncompressed raw video that is pretty long in length?
    Thanks,
    Serena

    There is bound to be some limit somewhere in the program, but you should be well below that. The biggest issue might be whether your computer is up to the task of handling it. If you will post your computer specs., someone will give you comments on that aspect.
    Good luck,

  • "Maximum package size for data packages was exceded".

    Hi,
    We are getting the below error.
    "Maximum package size for data packages was exceded".
    In our scenario we are loading the data product key wise (which is a semantic key as well) to the DSO thro’ a start routine.
    The logic in the start routine is such a way that it calculates the unique product counts , product key wise. Hence we are trying to
    group  the product key thro’ semantic groups.
    Ex: In this example the product counts should be A = 1,B=2 ,C = 1
      Product Key
      Products
      A
      1000100
      B
      2000100
      C
      3000100
      B
      2000300
      C
      3000100
    For some product keys the data is so huge that we could not load the data & we are getting the error.
    Please suggest any alternate way to  handle this thro’ code or introducing any other flow.
    Regards,
    Barla

    HI
    we can solve the issue by opening the system setting of data packer size
    like below we have create 2 programs, 1 for open the system settings,2 for
    close the settings .
    1 start program
    data: z_roidocprms like table of
    roidocprms.
    data: wa like line of z_roidocprms.
    wa-slogsys = 'system_client' . wa-maxsize = '50000'. wa-statfrqu = '10'.
    wa-maxprocs = '6'. wa-maxlines = '50000'.
    insert wa into table z_roidocprms.
    Modify roidocprms from table z_roidocprms .
    2 close program
    data: z_roidocprms like table of roidocprms.
    data: wa like line of z_roidocprms.
    wa-slogsys = 'syetm_client' . wa-maxsize = '50000'. wa-statfrqu = '10'.
    wa-maxprocs = '6'. wa-maxlines = '50000'.
    insert wa into table z_roidocprms.
    modify roidocprms from table z_roidocprms .
    data load infopakage settings we have to maintain like
    below
    we have create the process chain like as below
    1 start progarm
    data load infopakage
    2 close program.
    This might fix the problem.
    Regards,
    Polu.

    Session "Circular Kernel Context Logger" failed to start with the following error: 0xC0000035
    As suggested above I assume this is a microsoft issue?  It has been discussed here and other forums for quite some time.  I never have seen a fix?  I wish when we received errors of this nature microsoft would tell us what they were.  How is this related to superfetch?  What is superfetch?  Why would superfetch have changed?
    BY THE WAY....  Superfetch is on(started) is on automatic and logs on as local system.  So this is not the cause of my issue.  Also what is readyboot?  Does the average computer really know what these programs/services or unique microsoft words/terms are?

  • Setting maximum packet size in JDBC driver to send data to database

    Could someone tell me how I can set the JDBC connection property of maximum packet size to send data to database?
    Regards
    Rashed

    Hi thanks....I'm having this strange SQLException while trying to insert BLOB image data to Oracle database. I'm saying this strange because for the same image that has been inserted before it's throwing the exception. My program is run from Oracle form and then some image data are inserted into database through a loop. I can't realize what's the problem inside my code that's causing this problem. In fact, when I run my program independently not from Oracle Form, it runs fine, every image data get inserted into database. Given below is my code snippet:
    public void insertAccDocs(String[] accessions) throws SQLException
        for(int q=0; q<accessions.length; q++)
        final String  docName = accessions[q];
        dbThread = new Thread(new Runnable(){
        public void run()
          try{
          System.out.println("insertDB before connection");
                   getConnected();
                   System.out.println("insertDB after connection");
                   st=con.createStatement();
             //String docName = acc; commented
         // String docName = singleAccession;
                   String text = formatFree;
                   String qry = "INSERT INTO DOCUMENT VALUES
    ('"+docName+"','"+text+"','"+formatted+"','"+uiid+"')";
                   System.out.println("parentqry"+qry);
                   int ok=0;
                   ok=st.executeUpdate(qry);
                   if(ok==1)
                System.out.println("INSERTION SUCCESS= "+ok);
                        System.out.println("Image List Size"+ imgList.size());
                // inserting into child
                        for(int i=0;i<imgList.size(); i++)
                      String imgPath = ""+imgList.get(i);

                                  String img = "" + imgNameList.get(i);

  • APERTURE 3.1.2'S MAXIMUM LIBRARY SIZE?

    I HAVE MY APERTURE 3.1.2'S LIBRARY FILE STORED ON AN EXTERNAL DISK.  IT IS OVER 150 GB IN SIZE (ALONG WITH ITS VAULT SIZE OF ANOTHER 148 GB.  I'VE ATTEMPTED TO FIND WHAT THE MAXIMUM SIZE THIS FILE CAN/SHOULD BE BUT CANNOT FIND IT IN APERTURE'S LITERATURE.  SO, IS THERE A MAXIMUM SIZE AND IF SO, HOW BIG CAN IT GET AND NOT EXHIBIT ANY PROBLEMS?
    ALSO, IF I CREATE ANOTHER LIBRARY FILE AND NAME IT DIFFERENTLY, HOW COULD I HAVE THE SAME PROJECTS, ALBUMS, AND FOLDERS BE IN THE NEW FILE (OF COURSE, WITHOUT ANY OF THEIR PHOTO FILES -- EMPTY SO I CAN ADD TO THEM AS I CONTUNE MANAGING MY PHOTOS?
    I LOVE THIS PROGRAM -- ALTHOUGH IT GIVES ME THE "CIRCULAR RAINBOW" A LOT OF THE TIME.  I'M ASSUMING THIS IS BECAUSE THE FILE IS SO BIG AND MY MACBOOK PRO 17"  IS OVER 2.5 YEARS OLD.  I HAVE THE MAX RAM FOR IT (@ 3GB) AND I RUN DISK UTILITY EVERY OTHER DAY TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS.  I HAVE OVER 400 GB REMAINING ON MY EXTERNAL DRIVE OF ITS MAXIMUM OF 2 TB.  MY MACBOOK'S HARD DRIVE IS 160GB AND HAS ONLY 17GB REMAINING.  THIS IS THE REASON I HAVE TO LOCATE MY LIBRARY FILE (AND MY iTUNES MUSIC FILES) ON EXTERNAL DISKS.
    ANY RESPONSE TO THESE QUESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED:
    CREATE A NEW LIBRARY FILE WITH THE SAME STRUCTURE AND MY CURRENT ONE (BUT CONTAINING NO PHOTOS YET)?
    MAXIMUM FILE SIZE OF ANY APERTURE 3.1.2 LIBRARY FILE?
    MINIMIZE "CIRCULAR RAINBOW" ACTIVITY?
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
    LARRY W. HAMILTON

    Hi Larry -- welcome to our sunny clearing in the orchard.
    Please don't post in ALL CAPS.  It means you ARE SHOUTING.  There is no reason to shout.  Regularly capitalized text is also easier to read.
    You need more RAM.  Aperture stresses hardware.  4 GB RAM is a working minimum.  If you have only 4 GB you should not run any other programs when Aperture is running.
    Library size, in GB or in number of Images under management, is not a concern as long as you have the storage space.  I have run Libraries of several hundred thousand Images and over 500 GB on machines with 4 GB RAM.
    You should upgrade to the newest Aperture version.  It is 3.2.2.  The upgrade is free for owners of 3.x.
    You should leave at least 15% of your system drive empty -- the OS uses this.  At just 17 GB free on yours, you should open up some more free space.
    Two changes may keep your computer from hanging as much as it does.  In Aperture, turn off sharing Previews, and turn off Faces.  Each of these eats processor cycles.
    Are you connecting your external drive with FW800?  FW400?

  • Public Folder To Mailbox Map Generator maximum mailbox size

    Hello,
    I am in the planning stages of a 2010 to 2013 public folder migration.
    Upon running the following script to generate the mailbox mappings in 2013 I receive the following error regarding the maximum mailbox size requested.
    [PS] C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\scripts>.\PublicFolderToMailboxMapGenerator.ps1 5120MB E:\Migration\

    I want to set the maximum mailbox size to 5GB, however it seems that this is not possible given that some of the existing folders exceed the maximum mailbox size specified.
    I have increased the mailbox size gradually until there are no errors reported, but this leaves me with a maximum mailbox size of 50GB which is not what I require.
    There is circa 45 GB of data in the PF hierarcy currently, with the largest folder containing around 42 GB of data.
    I thought the idea was that the mapping generator would split the public folder data up and distribute it across multiple mailboxes as required?
    Can anyone assist with achieving this please?
    Regards
    Matt

    Hi Belinda,
    Thanks for the reply. I've done some more investigating, as I thought the public folders sizes being reported were larger than expected.
    Upon running the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet across the public folder hierarchy I can indeed see that the largest public folder we have is only 4.46GB in size, not the 42GB being reported by the generator.

    Going back a step - before running the PublicFolderToMailboxMapGenerator.ps1
    , the issue is initially occurs when running the Export-PublicFolderStatistics.ps1 as this is where the folder sizes are calculated and output to the PFMapNameToSize.csv. This is where the folder size is inflated by 10 times!
    Is this a bug?
    Does anyone know how to change this behaviour?

  • Macbook pro default maximum screen size does not cover the bottom inch

    Kind of frustrated by my new macbook pro.
    At the bottom of the screen, there's the icon bar (icon dock), which is about inch height. I adjusted it to smaller size, about half inch. This is what I did, not sure if related to my problem.
    At the beginning, I thought it was Safari's problem. Later I found all programs has the problem. I'll use Safari as example to describe the problem though.
    When I open Safari, it does not expand to the bottom inch of the screen, as if the icon dock prevents it expanding to the icon bar area of original icon bar size (i.e., inch, not half inch I'm using), and as if there was a line at the bottom inch. I click the plus sign (maximum screen), it still leave the inch uncovered. However, if I use full screen modle, Safari would covers the whole screen.
    when not in full screen model, I can drag the bottom edge of Safari, but can only drag to the virtual icon bar line (at bottom inch position). When bottom edge is at the virtual line, the drag arrow is single direction pointing to up. However, I could move Safari to lower and cover the bottom inch area (with icon bar on the top), and then drag the top edge to make it cover all screen area.
    What makes more annoying is if a new tab automatically opens, Safari will goes to the size with the bottom inch uncovered. This problem does not happen if program runs in full screen model.
    I tried a few programs, all have such problem. Looks to me default maximum screen size excludes the bottom inch (because by default that area is supposed to be occupied by icon bar although I changed the size or just simply hide the icon bar).
    Anyone know why? How to solve the problem? TIA.

    called Apple, the solution is:
    1, turn on sound
    2, shutdown

  • The initial heap size must be less than or equal to the maximum heap size.

    All,
    Please help!!
    I have tested my Application Client Project in WSAD on my pc and it works fine.
    I have 1gb RAM on my pc. When I deploy the same app on another xp pc(same as mine but 512mb RAM) I get a heap size error. Here is the exact error:
    Incompatible initial and maximum heap sizes specified:
    initial size: 268435456 bytes, maximum heap size: 267380736 bytes
    The initial heap size must be less than or equal to the maximum heap size.
    The default initial and maximum heap sizes are 4194304 and 267380736 bytes.

    Here is the batch file that runs my app:
    @echo off
    SET appClientEar=C:\corp\apps\mts\jars\MTSClientEAR.ear
    set JVM_ARGS=-Xms256M -Xmx256M
    set CLIENT_PROPS=C:\corp\apps\mts\jars\medicalclient.properties
    set APP_ARGS=
    call C:\bnsf\IBM\WebSphere\AppClient\bin\launchClientBNSF.bat "%JVM_ARGS%" %appClientEar% "-CCpropfile=%CLIENT_PROPS%" %APP_ARGS%
    @pause
    I have changed the value of Xms and Xmx of JVM_ARGS to different size but I sitll get error. Anyone knows what the problem is. Thanks..

    Don't know why, but the "maximum heap size: 267380736 bytes" value is just slightly less than 256*1024*1024, wheras the reported initial size is equal to that.
    Try setting the initial value to 255MB.

  • How to change font size, maximum column size in the result screen ?

    hi All
    That's great when using SQL Dev.
    But I also have a trouble that how to change font size, maximum column size in the result screen ?
    My users think that font in result screen is shown very small, and whenever the data in each colum is long then it's not shown full data in column, they must double click for extend the size. Have the option to default the max size for showing full data in each column ? I try but still not to do that .
    Appreciate for anyone to help us.
    Thanks all.

    You can't change the font for the results screen yet, however you will be able to select an auto-fit option for selected columns, so if some columns have slitghtly wider text you'll be able to set the column widths to handle these wider columns.
    Also, there s the option of switching the layout of a record in the grid.
