Maximum timing in question report

Hi, I'm trying to limit a maximum timing in a question
report, but the changes are not saved.
I want to limit it, for example, to 10 seconds, but once
saved the option is not saved.
Once I re-open the question, the 10 seconds don't appear, but
appears another value...where is the problem?

How exactly are you entering the value? Are you just typing
10 into the field? Or are you actually selecting the 00:00:
00 and replacing it so it looks like this: 00:00:
10?
The only "Time display related" thoughts I have here are that
your image seems to indicate you are using a different language
version of Captivate. Possibly you need to change something in your
Windows setup related to the way time displays on your PC? I know
I've seen problems on PCs here in the US where someone is using a
different setting there and it causes issues in other applications.
Note that I'm not saying it is
the issue here. But it may be a place to begin looking.

Hi Kai,Thanks for the reply.I can see that the maximum cache size has been set to 10000KB.Does this govern the number of records that is returned by a report?The idle jobs get closed in 20 minutes. Hi ,
The number of WAD Reports depends on your Reporting requirement.
You can either have one WAD for one Report each. or you can also have more than one report in a single WAD.
Could you please be more specific in what exactly your requirement is???

This is Ravi this side.
In SAP there is concept of pages.
There is no maximum no. of lines for the entire o/p as the o/p itself is divided into pages.
However each page has its own size.
The maximum for a page is 60,000

Maximum number of generic report columns

Clicking the "Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only)" radiobutton makes the "Maximum number of generic report columns" a editable field with a default of 60.
This seems to be a new feature in 2.0, right?
So, is 60 columns not the hard maximum number of columns in a report anymore? What is the new limit? What if I type 200 in that text box?

Re-ordering columns on the report attributes page is a huge pain. Doing them one at a time and page refreshing after each up/down arrow is very very slow.
Why dont you guys use some of the nifty drag-n-drop features from the Query Builder to do this re-ordering? That would be spiffy.
Another option is to just add a editable text field on each row to represent the column sequence #. I could just re-order a bunch of columns by changing this sequence number and click Save and the page refreshes and re-orders the list by this sequence number. Of course, there would need to be some Javascript to ensure that I dont give the same sequence number to more than 1 row.
[Netflix uses both the techniques above to let customers reorder movies in their queue]

Reports Timing Out - FInancial Reporting

We have a couple of large books of reports that appear to be timing out when we try to run them. Does anyone know of any suggestions other than making the book smaller? Here is one of the error messages:

Hi,
This error is due to of two reasons, either the size of the books or the reports calcualtion time. Check running individual reports run time. I guess there should be some reports that has calculation or filtering the data issues, which inturn results in runtime problem. Make reports more dynamic. This should solve the problem.

Slide Timing / Advancing Question

Hi All,
I'm relatively new to Captivate (using version 6) and I've been looking all over to find an answer to this question. Basically, I am creating an interactive user guide, and I have certain slides with clickable buttons that display text captions when clicked. I am worried that the timing requirement for each slide is going to make my guide not work the way it should. For example, the person viewing the guide should be able to stay on one slide AND click on the buttons to display the text at his/her own pace. However, once time runs out on the slide, if all of the buttons haven't been clicked, then all of the captions haven't been displayed, and the user then has to replay the slide.
My question is...is there any way to allow the user to spend as much time as they need on a slide, clicking different buttons to display text captions and ONLY have the slide advance when they click the "Next" button that I have created?
Hope I'm making sense here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Maximum Amount display in report

Dear Friends,
I hav eone report, and which is build on Multiprovider. Cube1 will give Qty and Cube2 will give Prive, so finally there is a formula called Price * Qty = Total.

Note: My report always displays calday in columns. i.e. day wise rollup.So if I execute that report for one month, it will disply the report for all 30 days with Plant and Material contains Maximum value only.

Are you using version 3.5?
Have you tried Exception Aggregation? Maximum value is one of the options.

Maximum Line Width when Report is running in background

Hello Experts,
I have written a ABAP program and user is running in background. My output is of width of 599 characters. But wehn the user is running in the background, it is showing a warning that last 345 columns won't be displayed.
What is the maximum width, that is allowed for report being displayed in background.
Kindly help and points will be rewarded. its really urgent.

I am facing the same problem. I have a report which has 406 characters. It is displayed correctly when executed in foreground but only 255 characters when executed in background.
You have resolved this issue. Can you please provide me the solution to execute it in background and get the complete output.

Want to know what is the maximus size we can have for a lexical parameter .
Is it 2000 chars ?
We have 3 lexical parameters in our where clause of the query .
What is the maximum Length of the 3 lexical parameters (combined) we can have ?

Java Event Timing / Scheduling Question

Hi everyone,
Looking for some pointers in the right direction. I'm writing a program that controls a hardware device to operate outputs at specific times in a timeline defined by the user. The delays between events are not regular and may vary from 1/10th of a second to several seconds or even minutes apart. I was wondering what the best way to implement the timing / event handling component of my program might be?
I was thinking of storing the timings in an array, and then sequentially looping through that array and passing each time delay to one java.util.Timer object, and then firing the appropriate event for each, and then loading in the next time delay and so-on until all events have been fired.
Is there a better way?

Maximum number of concurrent reports 10g

We hava an application with two backgroundprocesses running a maximum of 1 report at the same time so in total 2 reports. Also user are allowed to run reports we however do not want them to run more reports at the same time so in total max 3 reports at the same time additonal reports should be stalled to keep performance up.
How can this be setup in reports 10g ?

The second one is the one which is used for running reports created through builder and is the most common one (99.99%).
(For URLEngine you can keep 1 engine or 0 engine)
Also
engLife="1".
This is very inefficient. You can put it to "engLife="50". [Otherwise an engine will run only 1 job and a new engine will be spawned. Infact it can run any number of jobs. This life is there only because if there is any small memory leak for a request, it will pile up for very large number of jobs. You can safely put it to 50 (default) ]

If more requests come than the number of engines, then those reports will be queued and will be executed as and when engines become free.
3) Reports engine is actually very fast and unless reports are huge, it will complete a report in short time.
According to the load , you should arrive at a "maxEngines" for your server.
If it is too much your machine will crawl ("it" I mean - Number of engines)
If it is too less jobs will get queued
You should come to a balance.
4) I do not know whether any mechanism exists to restrict the max reports run by a user to 1 at a time.

Maximum Allowable Paramters in Report

I have an existing report that uses several text parameters that contain comma delimited lists. The stored procedure takes the comma delimited lists, put them in a temp table and uses that as part of its criteria. The business need has changed to where the information in the comma delimited list has increased greatly. We are using Sybase and our environment will not allow parameters that exceed 255 characters. Because of this, I have had to create multiple parameters of comma delimited lists, and then add each list to the temp table within the stored procedure. This works very well during testing in Sybase. The problem is that there is no data being returned to the report. I have also tested the stored procedure within the foundation and it returns data. There are currently about 130 parameters. Have I exceeded a Crystal report limitation? LOVs are not an option because the report is called by a in-house written application and it does not support them.

Quiz Question Reporting Incorrect in Outline Pane when Correct

Example 1
When a question within a quiz has Report Score "un-checked", the score for the question is greater than zero, and the user clicks the correct question, the correct feedback is displayed in the content area and a green check is displayed next to the question in the Outline pane.
Example 2
When a question within a quiz has Report Score "un-checked", the score for the question is zero, and the user clicks the correct question, the correct feedback is displayed in the content area and a red X is displayed next to the question in the Outline pane.
Example 3
When a question within a quiz has Report Score "check", the score for the question is zero, and the user clicks the correct question, the correct feedback is displayed in the content area and a red X is displayed next to the question in the Outline pane.
For example 2 and 3, is this the correct behavior? Why is a red X displaying next to the question in the outline pane when the question has been answered correctly? I have been able to duplicate this across several courses created on several different PCs.

The more I work, the more problems I discover.
1. Content Assist is usually dead. If I press ctrl+space to call it up, I get an error beep.
2. It isn't catching some of the errors in my code. For example, I had written a call to a nonexistant function, but that did not show in the Problems pane.
3. Still getting occasional " unknown item is declared as the root" errors as noted above. Sometimes clicking the refresh button will make it go away and design mode will function normally, but it comes back the next time I switch back to that component.
4. It doesn't recognize anything within a class I built - can't tell if the public properties and methods are being seen or not. (may be connected to death of code hinting/Content Assist?)
5. When it does find an error, the Path column is blank so I have no idea which file it is in.
I have "cleaned" the project several times, with no improvement.
If any of you can please help me get my FB3 restored to its prior working condition I would be very grateful.

Specific Question Reporting in LMS

Hi I've been using Captivate for a few months, and I've recently gotten a module together and am hosting it on SCORM cloud. My module contains some quiz slides, however I'm finding the reporting I'm getting back a bit odd, I'm
sure it's user error but I'm unclear what I'm doing wrong…I'm getting the info about who is taken the quiz and how long they've taken etc, but what I need to know is the specific answers they have given, i.e. have they answered A B C or D.
I've been making the quiz slides myself with click boxes and actions, and including them in quiz reporting, but I'm unclear how I can then get each question and answer I've created to show up in the SCORM reporting…for example, most of the specific reporting looks like this:
2015-02-27T15:34:20.387
[USER} correctly answered 'Question 6888' with response '1'
I'd like to be able to specify the question number myself (not sure where the 6888 is coming from) and make it so the response was "A" or any of the other selections. Is this possible?
Hopefully this is clear enough, I'm pretty new to the game. Thanks for any help in advance!!

I should add to the above that I'm making my own quiz slides. Still looking for an answer to this problem, so far what I've been doing as a workaround is putting the result of the question in the Interaction ID...ie "Question1DINCORRECT" or "QUESTION 2ACORRECT", that way I can at least see what they answered. When I was looking at the SCORM data I saw this:

This is where the LMS is getting the data, but I have no idea how to change it so the reporting could say User X incorrectly answered Question 1 with response D...hopefully this makes sense. Any help greatly appreciated!!
