Maximum video duration on the touch?

Hi
I've encoded a number of videos for my touch, each with the same settings (MP4, H.264, AAC) and the have been playing fine on the touch.
I've just encoded one however that doesn't work. It's the same settings as all the others, will play in itunes, but when i try and copy it to the touch itunes says:
"name of file" was not copied to the iPod "name of ipod" because it cannot be played on this ipod.
The only thing different about the file is the duration - all the other files were under 2 hours. The file that won't play is 2h 25 long (and 1.3gig)
So im left wondering, is there a maximum duration for a QT on the touch?

I encoded the movie Memoirs of a Geisha for my own viewing on the portable iPod Touch which is 2 hours and 25 minutes. No problems here. I highly doubt there is a time limit unless of course you exceed the space on the Touch. Just curious, are you using an 8 gig or a 16 gig Touch?

  • Is there a way to play a video and disable the touch screen

I want to be able to play a video and disable the touch screen so that it will play uninterrupted (even if the screen is accidentally touched). Isn't there a "hold" button?

Press the Home button once real quick to put the iPod on Hold.

  • Video content on the touch

I've downloaded a video via Itunes and have successfully loaded it to an ipod nano. I've also connected my Ipod Touch to the itunes library and copied it accross. I can see it has downloaded and can play it back through the computer screen from the ipod touch, but when I try to play it on the touch I get a message saying that the ipod is unable to play the movie.
Has anyone got any idea why this might be?

First, try a system reset on the iPod.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If that doesn't work, reset the Apple TV.  I'm not at mine right now and I'm talking from memory but the reset is somewhere in the Settings menu.

  • Airplaying videos taken with the ipod touch recorder

Has anyone had trouble getting their videos taken with the touch to show on the TV using Airplay and an AppleTV? Everything else works (movies, utube, music, etc...) but not the videos I have recorded using the touch. Anyone know the fix?

Be sure to access the Camera Roll from the Photos app instead of from the Camera app.

  • Video comparison between the 6270 and 6280

What is the maximum video resolution of the 6270? Does it have 640 x 460 resolution that the 6280 has?
And for anyone who has handled both, is there much difference between the two for operating systems, camera quality, memory and the lot?
Grateful if anyone could let me know. Thanks in advance.
    Axel

Ok, I did some research and after a lot of looking, I found out that the 6270 DOESN'T HAVE THE VIDEO RECORDING OPTIONS OF THE 6280!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh! Nokia, what are you doing to me? Finally a quad band handset I could consider getting and what do you do?? Make it the red-headed step child of the 6280!
    Oh the humanity!!!!
Are there any other quad band handsets from Nokia that someone could recommend, other than the N80?

  • Sequence In-Out Duration in the Project Panel?

Using Premiere Pro CC 2014.2, and wanting to view duration of in-out selections of multiple sequences in the Project panel before batch exporting via AME. The media duration display only shows full sequence length. Anybody have any ideas on how to view in-out duration in the project panel (I'm aware the duration shows up in the Program panel when a sequence is active).

searching for metadata fields, it seems to have no in/out duration.  so might have to request for adobe to add it. Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
i did notice that if i load the sequence from the project bin into the source monitor, then change the in and out points to match the same as in the timeline, it will change the "video duration" metadata column to reflect the in/out duration. its also possible just to change the "video in point" and "video out point" metadata values in the project bin to get the matching video duration, bypassing the need to load the sequence into the source monitor.  i also noticed when i export the sequence it will use the in/out on the timeline not the source monitor. this workaround adds extra steps, especially if changing the in/out points often.

  • Project exceeds maximum content duration. New solutions?

Okay, I've done in the past few years at least 50 DVDs (from 1-2 hours long) using iDVD and this is the first time I've had this problem where it keeps telling me that my current "project exceeds maximum content duration," though the project is clearly under 2 hours.
I've searched this forum for solutions, but none came to solve mine. I'm wondering if I'll have to redo this project. I changed the Project Info to Best Quality. I looked for any stray files inside menus, and I even tried deleting a few extra movie clips.
Project: total project duration: 103:52 minutes
total project compacity: 5:570 (max. available: 4.172 GB)
That simply seem right. I've done equally long projects using same camera and iMovie edit and have never experienced this problem until now.
    Any solutions? Work arounds?
    Thanks for the help.

If you had some large files in motion menus, that could have been your problem. (In the standard definition mode, you can have up to 15 minutes of menu content, and this counts against the 'Best Quality' 120 minute limit.)

  • Difference between Media duration and Video duration

What is a difference because MEDIA DURATION value then VIDEO DURATION? I see no difference. I thought that MEDIA DURATION is all time of video from start to the end and a VIDEO DURATION is a total sum of this one video in my timeline. Added to each other.
    I don't know... what is a difference?

So what is wrong in my video? I made this video to show how I do this. And like you see, numbers are the same.
    What is wrong, tell me...
Nothing is "wrong" except your assumption in your original post.
In your examples, the media and video durations ARE the same, and that is why the numbers are the same. The numbers will be different only if you set an in and out point. The example Joe gave you illustrated that the numbers are different only when an in and/or out point is set that is less than the total length of the media.
Your assumption in the original post (that "MEDIA DURATION is all time of video from start to the end and a VIDEO DURATION is a total sum of this one video in my timeline. Added to each other.") is not correct - unless by video duration you mean the length of one clip from in to out point.

  • Your project exceeds the maximum content duration.

    Save as VIDEO_TS folder....
Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in the Project Info window.
Is there any way to get rid of this dumb lenght restriction??? I never put them on DVDs, so lenght or size of data doesn't matter. Any one know of another program that doesn't have this crummy restriction??
To Export movie files, I simply convert them to VIDEO_TS, and then back to movie files using DVD Ripper. Quicktime Pro has the export option, but it can't handle exporting a lot of videos at the same time with out slowing the computer down, and the Quicktime exported files are way bigger than when I use iDVD and then DVD Ripper to convert them back to a movie file.

The short answer to your question is no.

    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes, and uses Constant Bitrate (CBR) encoding.
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for videos of up to 120 minutes but of even higher quality (and takes much longer). Both Best Quality and Professional Quality uses Variable Bitrate (VBR) encoding. The advantages of VBR are that it produces a better quality-to-space ratio compared to a CBR file of the same data. The bits available are used more flexibly to encode the sound or video data more accurately, with fewer bits used in less demanding passages and more bits used in difficult-to-encode passages.
A detailed explanation on how VBR encoding works can be read here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_bitrate
In both cases the 'maximum length' includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
This article has useful additional information:
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20080812050651997
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • Is there a way to shuffle music videos on the Touch?

The Touch is my first video iPod, and I was shocked to see I can't shuffle my videos. I just bought a slew of music videos, and I would like to be able to organize them into playlists and shuffle those, just like my songs. Right now I can only play one video at a time, then I have to manually go back and select another video.
Am I missing something? Or will this functionality be added in a future software update? Playing videos just isn't very convenient or enjoyable at all with the current lack of shuffle capability. Anyone else feel the same, or am I all alone on this?

Have done the feedback thing, and hopefully others have as well. Any idea if this functionality of being able to organize playlists of your music videos and play them as such is going to be be possible in any upcoming software upgrade?
I have actually gone ahead and got the universal dock and component cables, so I can view my music videos on my big screen TV and sound through my stereo and speakers. Sure would be nice to be able to allow a playlist of videos to continually play nonstop without having to go to the Touch after the conclsusion of each single video and select the next one to play.

  • Need to get all the files, well music and video, from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary.

Need to get all the files, (well music and video), from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary. (So basically sync the other way to normal)
Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!
    Thanks:)
    Chris

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

I can't get my new iPad to record a video I see the video right above camera but it is not active yet I can't touch it to activate it.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
