MDM BI Integration

Hi All,
I am doing the MDM BI integration using ABAP API.
In the info object , I gave the Master Data Read Class ( ZCL_RSMD_RS_GENERIC_TABLE) which I actually copied from the standard class CL_RSMD_RS_GENERIC_TABLE.
After that I changed the structure name to 'ZMDM_ST' in the method IF_RSMD_RS_GENERIC~GET_STRUCTURE_NAME.( it was RSMD_RS_S_GENTABLE).
'ZMDM_ST' structure contains the fileds OBJECT_NAME,TABLE and QUER_FIELD.
Also I changed the methods where the old structure refered to the new structure name 'ZMDM_ST'.
After doing all these things, when I click the Master Data Read Class Parameters button which is in the info object, its giving the different input filed from the sturcture 'RSMD_RS_S_GENTABLE'. Not from the structure 'ZMDM_ST' .

MDM catalog integration with SRM 7.0

Hi all,
We will be upgrading from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0
We currently have CCM .....Few questins on catalog enablement for us with SRM 7:
1.With SRM 7,0,can we use CCM oor MDM is the only option???
2.Is it better to have MDM as a seperate server and enable SRM MDM catalog content?
3.We have 2 punch out catalogs for 2 vendors.How to enable the punch out catalog links in SRM 7.0???What is the path for IMG config??

   You can use any catalogs which support SAP OCI interface.
2.Is it better to have MDM as a seperate server and enable SRM MDM catalog content?
   MDM Server(contents) and AS Java(for UI) are required. Please check the installation guide.

Yes. You can use Import Manager. No issues.

MDM Extractor is available.

Mainly for contents mapping.

Any. Even for DB interface is also supported. You see all options when you run import manager.

Sample repository definition is delivered. You can manually create 1 entry by Data Manager.

You can use contract and contract items are transfered to Catalog.

Enterprise Portal - MDM - LDAP integration

We are succesfully able to integrate Portal to MDM with a trusted connection and with portal users existing in LDAP and mdm users existing in MDM console.
We also successfully integrated MDM with LDAP so that we dont have to store users in console, but manage them in LDAP. But once we did the LDAP integration, portal to MDM connection was lost saying mdm user details could not be retrieved.
Has anybody faced this issue? what key steps to taken care during MDM-LDAP integration.

When ever we integrate MDM with LDAP, we need to make a setting in MDS.ini file.
Please check the "User Identifier" setting in MDS.ini file.
Typically this should be The name of the LDAP id field which will match the value the user provides as the Username at logon.
Make the entry in MDS.ini like User Identifier = cn or SamAccountName.
If that is done, please verify other parameters corresponding to LDAP in MDS.ini as per the table 91 in Page no 291 in MDM Console referece guide.
Or refer to the SAP note 1635338 for reference which is pointing to same issue.
This should solve your problem.

MDM-BOBJ integration for initial load....

I have attended some demos for the MDM-BOBJ integration that dealt with the on-going creation and maintenance of master data but my question is how this is used for the initial load and enrichment for any master data.
When we used D&B for enrichment, data will be enriched/Cleansed before the initial load then after loading the data to MDM it will be de-duplicated based on the DUNS number .
How the initial load and de-duplication is handled in MDM-BOBJ integration?. For example, I have 100 thousand records and would like to enrich/Cleanse it before loading to MDM OR after loading to MDM.
Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, BOBJ dataservices has been extensively used to handle the scenario which you described here.

MDM LDAP Integration

Hi,
We have integrated MDM with LDAP, by creating LDAP Roles & mapping them with MDM Roles. We are having log entries for Admin user for all repositories after every 10 milli-seconds. Any idea why these entries, how to stop this?

MDM BW Integration

Hi Everybody
We are doing a MDM-BW integration. Here we got the file extracted from BW of type (.csv). Now we would like to take up the file in MDM. There were 2 files of type csv.
1. The data structure(.csv)
2. the data(.csv)
i created an inbound port and and i had put the data(.csv) in to that directory
Now when i tried to import, i selected the port and clicked on finish.
I got an error messege which says
"Logon Error : Data definition invalid for port 'port name'
could some one help me on this!

Hi Vinod,
As you are importing .csv file then follow these steps:
I. Set up ODBC for *.txt or *.csv files
1. Open Data Sources (ODBC) interface:
Start> Settings> Control Panel--> Administrative Tools -->Data Sources (ODBC).
2. Select System DSN Tab in Data Sources (ODBC) interface.
3. Click on [Add]. Select the Microsoft Text Driver. Click Finish.
4. Write a Data Source Name
5. Uncheck Use Current Directory to enable the [Select Directory] button.
6. Click on [Select directory] to determine the source directory.
7. Select the source file.
8. Click [OK] and return to the ODBC Text Setup screen.
9. Click [OK].
10. Return to the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog and click [OK].
II. Importing from Flat file
1. Run MDM Import Manager.
2. Select ODBC from the Type drop-down field of the Connect To Source dialog.
3. Enter the DSN name from the Setup ODBC Connection dialog above.
4. Select the file name with extension (.csv or .txt) in the Tables panel of MDM Import Manager and the file content in the Records panel.
5. Perform the mapping and save it.
6. Specify this map name at the inbound port.
Note: The Current Directory should be the path where you drop that .csv file.

SAP MDM-BOBJ Integration architecture

Dear folks,
in one of the solution providing scenarios i need clarification on the architecture of BOBJ and MDM. i have been seeing in the documents that BOBJ server is falling in between source and MDM. However i feel it is more relevent to send a file from MDM to BOBJ and get the data enriched(Data quality) and send back to MDM. That means MDM is falling between source and BOBJ.
please provide some help on this.

Error in MDM - EP integration : "Failed to connect to MDM server. ....."

Dear SDN,
I m in middle of configuring the MDM and EP integration.
EP Version Info :
J2EE Engine 6.40 PatchLevel 108290.313
Portal 6.0.20.0.0
BP has been installed.
We are able to view MDM system and MDM search IViews in the Wizards in the portal.
MDM Version Info : MDM 5.5 SP 04
I come across the following error :
Step 4: An error has occurred
Failed to connect to MDM server. Check your system. The server may be down or there may be an error in one or more of your system parameters.
System parameters are Server name and pwd .
This parameters are used to start the server and pwd for accessing the server while mounting the server.
Also at the same time, my MDM server is running and repository is shown loaded and running.
Kindly suggest what should have been missed out from our side or some way we can make sure that error does not occur.

Hi Chandani,
in Portal clik on Personalization, and in User Mapping you need to map the MDM repository user (may be Admin)..... then try another time.
Please, check the BP version in order to unserstand if it is the rigjt version for your MDM.

MDM-ECC Integration

Hi,
I need a step by step guide displaying MDM-ECC Integartion.
One way is to use MATMAS IDOC which XI turns into XML and MDM Import Server
inbound port picks up and send to MDM. Similarly the Syndication Server responds.
Now, I need to know whether any alternative approach.
MDM ABAP API is to access MDM through Object Oriented ABAP.

Hi Kaushik,
Integration between MDM and ECC system can happen in one of the two ways :
- File Adapter mechanism
- ABAP Api mechansim
In the file adpater way as you already are aware of we use XI in the landscape for exchanging data between ECC and MDM in the form of Idocs and XML as the MDM systema dn R/3 system cannot talk to each other directly.
One is an ABAP based system and one is a C++ designed windows based system.So we use PI/XI for master data transfer and monitoring.

The second method is that of using the ABAP Api.using this method the ABAP system can directly connect to the MDM system using the API's and perform the data management activities from within ECC system.

The methods of integartion used so far with MDM and ECC are the two mentioned above.
but using them you can build many scenrios like:
- Extract all data from ECC and cleanse it in MDM
- Create all master data centrally in MDM and syndicate to R/3
- Create only Global data in MDM and send the data to R/3 to extent to local data and obtain the entire master record then in MDM.

Besides these scenario you can also integrate MDM with ABAP using the front end system like EP wherein you access the ABAP transcation using the transactional Iviews. etc.

SRM, MDM, ECC integration for central contract management.

I am questioned by a client with respect to the possibility of the following scenario -
1. There are several SAP back end systems in place.
2. SRM 7.0 will be implemented as single sourcing system.
3. The SAP back end systems carry different material master codes for the same material and this will remain the same and no cleaning effort to have a unique code across all systems is going to be done.
4. If we use MDM in the mix - will it be possible for the SRM system to act as a central contracting solution and create a central contract with the unique material code in MDM.
5. On distribution of this contract across to individual SAP back end system the back end should map the MDM code to correct material code in that respective system.
Any insights with respect to if this is possible with some enhancements or not at all possible will be highly appreciated.

Issue with Receiver MDM Adapter - Integrated Configuration

Hi Experts,
My scenario is I need to pick a file from PI Directory and push it into MDM Ready folder.
The source file structure is ~ delimiter text file and at the receiving end , I need to push the same file as it is.
At the receiving side I have used MDM Adapter.
The issue at receiving side is:
I am receiving file with .xml extension with the same content as of source file but my requirement is .txt file.
Please advise on this.
I am using SAP PI 7.31.
P.S.- I have not used FTP at the receiver side due to some other concerns.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes we had tested successfully via SOAP UI as well (forgot to mention that). We are getting back the expected response in SOAP UI without using any credentials. We got the same response when we tested it through OS commands from PI server.
The WS is hosted by the target system and they haven't maintained any credentials at their end. So when PI is trying to access, we don't need to provide any credentials. My question is, whether the target system should keep any credentials to send the synchronous response back to PI (java stack). We have tried that as well but since there aren't any logs, we are unable to verify whether the credentials are coming correctly.
The service interfaces are correct and PI configuration are OK. I will try the XPI inspector for logs as you have suggested.
