  • MDM PI adapter not working

    Hi All,
we are on MDM 7.1 SP04 AND PI7.1 SP06 AND MDM Java API Version is 7.1.04.138 i.e. on the latest version.
MDM PI adapter is not able to pick up  the files from the MDM distribution folders..
Communication channel is functioning and in Green.
PI adapter is only picking up the files only when i manually activate the communication chennel.
what could be the reason.are there any other prerequisites for MDM PI adapter that we are missing upon.
if any one has come across the same issues and got this sorted out ..let me know please

kindly verify the values you mentioned in:
MDM Server (host name or IP)
MDM Repository Name, along with User and Password
DBMS Server (host name or IP) and DBMS Type
Port Code and Remote System Code of the outbound MDM port

  • MDM Sender Adapter issue in SAP PI7.1

    Hi All,
How to schedule(there is no poll interval in Sender communication channel) MDM PI sender Adapter.
Everytime we need to start and stop the channel then only file is being picked up.
I checked port details, file is not picking up automatically
    Please suggest me.
    Reagrds,
    Hemanth

    Hi Hemanth,
There are different versions of the MDM PI Adapter which correspond to the relevant PI version: one for PI 7.0 and the other for PI 7.1; the two are not interchangeable. Ensure that you have downloaded the correct version for your landscape i.e. PI 7.1
Setting Up Outbound Messaging from MDM:
Make sure that the MDM Java API (Connector) deployed on the J2EE engine matches the version of the MDM server on which the repository is mounted.
Also, Check that there is no more than one MDM sender configured per MDM outbound port in your system landscape

  • Syndication event for new MDM PI Adapter in MDM 7.1

    Hi,
We have setup the new MDM PI Adapter for MDM 7.1 and have created interface in PI using this new MDM PI adapter. All neccesary steps as mentioned in the installation guides are done.
Also all necessary remote systems/ports/syndication maps are created in MDM, and syndication is running fine on the MDM side (using the syndication server, so not manually!)! The syndication files are created in the Outbound/../Ready folder, so again, on MDM side everything looks OK.
However, when the syndication server has run, there's no syndication event triggered (or at least not captured by the MDM PI Adapter), hence PI is not picking up the files from the outbound folder. It looks like PI is not getting any syndication event, or at least is not catching the event, since monitoring on PI side does not show us any trigger.
Now I have the following questions:
    1. Does anyone know how we can verify/monitor if MDM raises any syndication event (the export log in the console of MDM 7.1 does not say anything about an syndication event that is raised, only that the export itself was succesfull)?
    2. Is there any additional setup to be done on MDM side in order to make sure that the syndication event is raised as soon as the syndication server is ready (or is the syndication server ALWAYS raising the event, independent of using the MDM PI adapter)?
If anyone else has any experience with the new MDM PI Adapter for MDM 7.1, please share us your valuable information. Thanks in advanve for your answers/advice.
p.s. We are using MDM 7.1 (build 7.1.01.72).
    Regards,
    Marcel

    Hi
We are also currently experiencing a similair issue. Seems to occur when some sort of matching activity occurs on the MDM Server. What happens is that syndicated files remain in the 'Ready' folder on the Outbound Port. In the PI Netweaver Trace Log files we start seeing this error message:
    Jul 13, 2009 4:34:41 PM com.sap.mdm.logging.MdmLogger warning
WARNING: NotificationDispatcher - Connection failure. Original exception: 'java.net.SocketException: Connection reset'.
If we restart the Connector and Adapter from the NetweaverJ2EE Application Admin screen, this files still remain in the READY Folder. However, if i syndicate another data record into that folder, the syndication for that file work as well as for the rest of the files that were sitting in the READY folder. Seems like the "failed" files seem to latch off the syndication event.
Doesn't seem like the stability and robustness is there?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • Sender MDM PI Adapter Communication Channal Problem

    Hi All,
I am doing (MDM >PI>R/3) Material Master Outbound scenario; while doing syndication process xml file is generated in MDM ready folder.
But, in ths PI system RWB  Communitation channel monitoring  each time (wheneve new file placed in Ready folder) the MDM PI Adapter Communication Channel has to stop and start it then only the latest file is picking up.
How to solve this problem without doing start and stop the Communication Channel?
Plaase, help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance
    Best Regards
    Mahesh

    Hi Mahesh,
communication channel is controlled in 3 different methods Manual, Automatic and External (HTTP request)
so looking at your channel behaviour i suspect it's set to 'Manual'. If so please chage the control to 'Automatic'.
Manual - You control the communication channel by choosing Start or Stop.
Automatic - The communication channel is controlled by scheduled availability times.
    I hope this hleps you.

  • MDM PI Adapter network specification

    Hi all!
We have a situation where SAP MDM server and SAP PI server are located in different networks. We intend to use MDM PI Adapter for syndication and import purposes. The question is how do we expose one system in the network of another? What issues can we face here? What ports and protocol do MDM PI adapter use when connecting to MDM server. And what is transport security level implemented?

  • Advantages of MDM PI adapter oer FTP

    Hi all,
Can u please tell me the advantages of MDM - PI adapter over the FTP apart from the discussions that are given in the PDFs .  Also Would like to know with using MDM adapter how can we route the files to respective folders which can be done using the FTP by just specifying the path in CC. How the same result can be acheived using MDM PI adapter.
    Regards,
    Vinithra
Edited by: Vinithra Iyangar on Jun 15, 2009 5:46 AM

    Hi,
If you have MDM at sender or receiver then MDM PI Adapter will be more useful as MDM PI Adapter enables direct communication between MDM and PI.As explained in above advantages there will be  a tighter MDM PI integration as well as message monitoring. As MDM is also a SAP's  Data Repository system(mainly used to remove duplication of data),with the help of MDM PI Adapter you can see the complete flow if the data got correctly updated in MDM or where it when wrong. If you use simple  FTP, u can see with respect to file adapter only , you need to check in MDM seperatley again for checking if it got correctly updated.

  • ACK from MDM PI Adapter

    Hi All,
Can you please let me know whether we can receive the ACK messages back from MDM-PI adapter only with BPM in place ?(where in we explicitly ask for ACK)
If we do not use BPM, we would never have SXMB_MONI updated with the MDM ACK messages - Is this correct?
    Please let me know

  • Import Trigger: MDM PI Adapter

    Dear All,
Can you please let me know if the Import gets triggered automatically (even if the inbound port is set as manual) after PI writes a file to "Ready Folder" using MDM PI Adapter?
    Thanks,
    Pooja

    Hi Aamir,
PI Adapter can never control MDIS.
Data Transfer from PI to MDM involves the following steps:
    1. Data sent from any connected system is stored within PIu2019s internal table.
    2. The XML message is forwarded to the MDM PI Adapter.
    3. The MDM JCA Adapter itself invokes the MDM Java API and sends message to MDM using MDIS port functions.
    4. These XML messages are sent to corresponding MDIS port folder so that MDIS can import the files independently.
    5. The Adapter updates the delivery status in PI monitoring.
    6. u201CFinished Import eventu201D is thrown by MDIS and caught by the MDM JCA Adapter.
    7. The import status is used to update PI monitoring accordingly.
The 6th point means, that the MDIS will send the acknowledgement which will be updated in the PI monitoring services.
This is the improvement done in PI introducing the adapter to have better monitoring.
It is never meant to and not supposed to control MDIS.
For the data to be imported automatically, then the port status should be set to automatic.
Also note that this acknowledgement from MDIS will not be sent to PI if the port is manual.

    Sravan

  • SAP MDM Adapter not picking up files in Ready folder on MDM

    Hello Experts,
We are sending master data from MDM 7.1 system via PI 7.1 system to SAP ECC system. The Sydnication from MDM system is automatic and the files are being syndicated successfully from MDM system and getting dumped in the Ready folder of the port.
But the Sender MDM PI adapter is not picking up the files from the folder.
The communication channel status in Communication channel monitoring is green and 'data control' is Automatically.
However the file is getting picked up if we stop and then start the channel but not automatically.
    Please Help!
    Thanks,
    Suraj

Check if there are locks for the file channel in NWA. If yes, unlock that and your issue should be resolved.
Login to NWA --> Operation Management --> Systems --> Start & Stop --> JAVA EE Services --> check for File Connector, Locking Adapter and XPI Adapter: File.
