Media on one machine, Info on another

Hi all-
Up until recently, this worked. I don't know if it was an iTunes upgrade, or the iPhone firmware (or neither, or both).
I have my Media (Music, TV Shows, and Movies) and applications on my Mac Pro. My "work stuff" (calendars, mail accounts, contacts) on the MacBook Pro. That is how I want to sync. Up until recently, it worked.
Now, when I plug in to my MBP for the Info items, it keeps checking the other boxes for the media sections, and erases everything on the phone!
I uncheck them all, reload with the Mac Pro, then it does it again.
WHY does the laptop keep re-checking all of those options, and HOW can I get it to stop?
Even when I have the laptop set up to not sync automatically, it still has those boxes checked. If I uncheck them, it still erases the phone.
I have also tried a full restore from the Desktop.
Both machines are on the same version of iTunes (9.0.3) and OSX (10.6.2)

Well, that's what you want on the Summary Pane, nothing checked. The only things that should be checked are contacts & calendars on the Info pane. There should be no checks on any of the other tabs, regarding content. You've already reset sync history, so what I would do is try one more time, connect your phone, make sure there are no checks in any boxes on the Summary Pane, no checks on any of the content panes, check to make sure. Hit apply, when done, if a popup apperas telling you all your itunes content will be erased, click OK. Then go to your other computer, re-sync your itunes content & see if you can go back to your MBP & do just contacts & calendars. This should work, as you can sync contacts & calendars to multiple computers, itunes content to only one.

We're comparing the converted/migrated workspaces from each machine. the workspace only has one entity/one view/one app module, and a servlet with two user defined exceptions and an error page.

For 1 of the 15 times I tried to open the workspace it opened and compiled ok.
Then, I got the second error anyway. However, the second error was resolved by UNDOING a change that I did to the \jdev1013\ord\jlib folder. I don't understand why the files in that folder are so "dated":

  • Jabber 4.4 "Graphics card or driver not supported" error on one machine but not another.

Hi, I looked at the KB document but the email link on it no longer works.
I have two end-users using Jabber 4.4 on identical machines, same specs, same driver build and OS image. One gets the  "Graphics card or driver not supported" error, the other does not.
    We have two DellOptiPlex 7010's,
Both had 2 instances of AMD Radeon HD 7470 - they are dual monitor machines.
In both cases the driver version 8.922.0.0, Driver Date 12/6/2011. This is the latest Dell has on their website.
On one machine when I run a fresh install for Jabber for TelePresence 4.4 it works fine. But on another the user first gets
    "supportabilitytest.exe has stopped working
A oriblem cause the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."
Then when that's closed out we get:
"Graphics card or driver not supported!
New features in this version of Jabber Video are not supported by your computer's graphics driver.
Update to the newest graphics driver available and run Jabber Video again."
I can't believe it's just a matter of upgrading the drivers because in this case one machine with identical drivers works.
I appreciate any insights, thanks !

    Hi ksouthall,
It sounds like the openGL supported version did not install on the one that is failing.  There isn't much we can do regarding that error.  Best practice is to always upgrade to the latest manufacturer's available driver.  Client requirements are below.
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit), Vista, or XP (SP 2 or newer), with OpenGL 1.2 or newer.
For 720p HD video calls, Intel Core2Duo @ 1.2GHz or better.
For VGA video calls, Intel Atom @ 1.6GHz or better.
Webcam, built-in or external. You need an HD webcam if you want other callers to see you in HD.
Broadband Internet connection with a recommended bandwidth of 768kbps upstream and downstream. You need about 1.2Mbps upstream and downstream for 720p HD video calls.
    Regards,
    Jason

  • What would cause a program to compile and run on one machine and not anothe

Ok, I have an rmi application that uses the ClassFileServer provided by sun as the codebase argument to the server class I use to bind a remote data object to the rmiregistry. On my machine all parts of the program work as expected. However, when I distribued my java source hierarchy and the text file containing the commands to run and execute it to three different machines, I received the infamous unmarshalling exception when the server tried to bind a remote data object. For the life of me, I can't figure out the root of this problem. I'm only distributing the source, no classes, and the commands entered to build and run the application are exactly the same. I've tried running this on different drives of my system and had no issues. I should also indicate that I tried setting the codebase=file:///classes/ instead of using the ClassFileSever and it still didn't work on these three other machines.
All of the machines are running java 1.4.2_0x.

    Hi
Strange error you semms to have.
    What about port 2001?
If your codebase is .....localhost:2001 then you are using port 2001 and not 1099.
    Is 2001 open?
Does the machines on the other subnet (the ones that fails) try to contact a mchine on another subnet?
    Ex.
    Failing machine IP: 15.10.2.3
    Other machine IP: 16.23.4.6
Then you might have a problem!
I don't know why but here at my work some have 15 as subnet and some has 16 as subnet and we can NOT ping or contect eachother computers.
Must be something in the firewalls that blocks it.
    /Fredrik

  • How to transfer *some* media from one iTunes account to another?

I have two iTunes libraries - one on my MacBook Air, and one on my external drive.  Why? Because I can't hold all of my TV shows and Movies on the MBA because of the small drive. What is the best way to move selected files between the two libraries - given that you can only have one Library open, at a time?

That's kind of a strange way to things, even if it's what Apple told you to do.
    Do this.
    - Access your *local* library
    - Go to iTunes->Preferences->Advanced
    - Select "Copy Files...." and "Keep iTunes Media File Oroganized"
    - Locate the files you want on the external disk
    - Drag them into the "Library" area of your sidebar
This will put the files in your local library and copy them to your MB.
They will still be on your external hard drive. You will have to separately delete them from that library if you want to.

  • Ipod working on one machine but not another

I purchased a 30gb iPod video today, the problem is after I installed iTunes and plugged the iPod in I got an error message stating my ipod was possibly corrupted and suggesting that I restore it. When I try to restore it says this isnt possible because it can't download the required rescoure. The odd thing is when I plug it into another, much older computer in my house, it works fine. I've looked over a lot of the topics on this forum and can't find anything that has worked yet. Both machines are running Windows XP and iTunes 7, however the older machine has usp 1.0 ports yet it still worked. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Not sure, maybe if you can share the form, I can have a look at it.

  • WRTG160N drops vpn first one machine enxt day another. Also flaky browsing

    i have a new 160n w/latest firmware.
My wife vpn's in to work and was working fine for a few weeks.(only change was VPN IP Address done a few days ago but worked with new IP for few days)
now the machine she used will not connect. it was working then suddenly was disconnected. when we try to connect it never gets passed 'verifying name/password'.
I tried reinstalling drivers/resetting tcip ect. but nothing worked.
I gave up and grabbed the laptop via wireless and set that up. worked great for the first half of the day and then did the same darn thing.
We swithced back to our original sonicwall router and guess what, works like a champ again on both PC's.
    Router is the problem!!!
one other thing that was not working was visiting facebook.com and 1 PC. it would go to the page but stay loading FOREVER! cleared cache, reset internet setting ect ect . now with original router works like a charm too.

You may try to Upgrade the router's firmware...Download the Firmware from here , though you might have the same firmware already installed on your router you must still Flash the Firmware...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...See if that makes any difference...Also change the MTU to 1400 on your router set-up...

  • Can I split iTunes library (video content on one machine, music on another)

I am running out of space on my MacBook Pro.
Is there a way I can keep all the music in the iTunes library on the MacBook Pro, and then move all my video content (which has almost filled all the drive space on the laptop) to my Mac Pro?
So basically have 2 different locations for iTunes content?
    Thank you.

Perhaps it is possible. I am researching the same issue as you stated. See the URL below and see if it helps you.

  • A landscape file opens in landscape on one machine,  portrait on another

My wife made some invoices using Pages 09 on her iMac in landscape mode. Now, when she opens the file, it loads in portrait mode (screwed up, obviously). However, if I grab that file and open on my MBPro running Pages 09, the file opens and prints just fine. I've reinstalled iWork 09 on her machine, deleted caches etc. When she launches Pages, she can select her file via the thumbnail view, which, in fact, shows the file in landscape mode. Any idea how to solve this problem? I even re-saved the file on my machine and sent it back to hers. The new file, landscape on my MBPro, opens in portrait on her iMac. Thoughts? suggestions? I checked preferences, and Page Setup doesn't do anything to the current layout.

You deleted caches, but did you delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences? This is Pages preference file & would appear to be corrupt.

  • Easiest Way to Move Media from One External Drive to Another?

My MacBook Pro only has a 500GB hard drive and I currently have all my movies on a 1TB external hard drive.  Everything works fine through iTunes, but now since the 1TB is maxed out, I'd like to use my new 2TB external hard drive going forward.  I understand that I need to re-route where iTunes finds the movies, but what is the easiest way to make the conversion from the 1TB to the 2TB?
I have copied all movies from the 1TB to the 2TB.  Is the only thing left to do is re-route the location to the 2TB?  Or do I need to drag and drop all movies into iTunes (they're all already in there)?  Just didn't know if I needed to add them into iTunes again so they know to point to the 2TB drive. (sorry if I didn't explain that good!)
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks Limnos!  Really appreciate the help!
    To clarify:
    - I currently have only movies on the external 1TB drive (which iTunes points too).  The downside is that I ALWAYS have to have my external drive plugged in, in order to play on Apple TV (or view on MacBook).  I have appx. over 500GBs of movies on my external 1TB.
    - All music (appx. 200GBs) is currently on my internal hard disk, but with a 500GB internal hard drive, that's going to fill up quickly (just so you know - I already have about 125GBs of pics in iPhoto AND work in Photoshop regularly so PSDs lessen my internal 500GB space quickly).
Eventhough I HATE having to keep an external drive plugged into my MacBook, I'm just going to have to suck it up and get used to it so I will have more space and my MacBook will run faster.
With that in mind, I was thinking about moving my music (200GBs) onto my 2TB external drive (along with the movies).  So that would leave roughly the photos and Photoshop files (and random other things that are small in size) on my internal drive.
I could start all over and delete all movies that are in iTunes (the application - not the folders) and then drag and drop them into iTunes from the new 2TB, but I wasn't sure all the metadata (really the cover artwork) would be attached when I did that?  Going that route really doesn't bother me since I've already copied all movies files from my 1TB to my 2TB.  Basically, I would be starting over from scratch as if the old 1TB never existed.
Trying to run this through my mind and come up with the best/easiest way.  What I don't want to do is try and find cover artwork for the almost 300 movies I have (and all the cover artwork for the CDs I have too if I decide to keep my music on the 2TB external drive).
Hope that helps and makes sense?  Thanks again!

  • Baffled - HD won't boot in one machine, will in another

    x61s
    XP
    working fine, no new installs
    1) had a start-up fail with a 'critical battery error' message. no more starting up
    2) with AC plugged in, goes to the screen with safe mode, safe mode with networking etc
    3) no matter which I choose, it flashed to energy screen, then blue error screen, then back to safe mode screen
when I stick the hard drive into a T61 it starts up no problem
With the HD in the T61, I have tried all kinds of things to no avail.
I installed the Lenovo System Toolbox, but I get all kinds of errors of things encountering a problem, and program won't start
I tried to start up in the x61, after turning various things turned off in msconfig (using the HD in the T61), but no change
was unable to get any of the restore points to work
it seems like this must have something to do either with a HD problem, or a driver problem.
Nothing is showing up in my event viewer, or in my device manager.  i get an error about the 'interface is unknown'
    ideas?

"Critical battery error" refers to a problem with the CMOS battery. Possibly needing replacement.
Try changing from AHCI to compatibility mode in the BIOS configuration. If already in compatibility mode, try the opposite.

  • TS_EngineNewExecution () takes about 10 seconds on one machine, 1 on another

How can I stop the 10 second delay? I've rebooted, and the function isn't failing, it's just too slow.

    To bmihura -
I am thinking of the traditional "Debug Output" that is available in MSVC and CVI 7.x, i.e. calls to the SDK function OutputDebugString the debugger collects. I do not think that CVI 6.0 supports this. These messages can slow down a debugged process.
I ran the default CVI OI from TS 2.0.1 in the debugger on my system, which is similar to yours, and the performance was almost identical, under a second.
    Questions:
    1) Do you see this performance hit when debugging your OI when you run a client sequence that is empty and without using a process model, i.e. Run MainSequence?
    2) Do you see this performance hit when debugging your OI when you run a client sequence that is empty but using your pro
    cess model?
    3) Do you see this performance hit when using the default CVI OI that ships with TestStand?

  • AS3 works on one CS4 machine, not on another

    Hi,
Have Flash Pro CS4 trial. Simple hello world type AS3 code
compiles and publishes on one machine but not another, same publish
settings, same .fla file. Reinstalled, messed with publish
settings, still no working AS3. When editing AS3, the compile
errors (for one line of code) won't even appear in the window, no
outputs either, as if the windows aren't working. It errors on a
trace() and stop() when I check it. Again, same stuff works on
another machine. AS2 works fine. Has anyone else seen or heard of
this problem? Thanks a bunch to anyone who can help.

I had an issue at work where all the code would not work in any of my work files but they had worked just fine on another computer a moment earlier. what i discovered was that flash would not read the code if i was trying to load the files from a flash drive or a portable hard drive. once i put the files on my c drive they seemed to work fine.

  • Migrating iCS 2.x from one machine to another

Is it possible to migrate iPlanet Calendar Server(iCS) from one machine over

    <P>
Yes. It is possible to migrate an existing iCS server that is part of an
