MeetingPlace upgrade to 8.5.5.2 mashing passwords?

I just installed 8.5.2 from a Cisco shipped DVD, which all went fine. It is for an audio only deployment, so Express Media Server only on vmware.
Subsequently I upgraded to 8.5.5.2 (8.5 MR3), this was done by copying the downloaded 1.7GB .BIN file via SCP (thereby proving that we got the mpxadmin user's password correct), and then running "su" for the upgrade (proving that we know the root password). The upgrade went through without drama (although getting the "Start Maintenance Mode" button to work in the web GUI was a bit hit and miss, but I guess that's Java, and it was put into Maintenance before the upgrade). After a reboot, I can login to the web GUI with admin OK, but cannot login to CLI (via console or SSH) with either root or mpxadmin users. Following the password recovery procedure detailed in

I even tried again ensuring to use characters that will be in the same place on UK and US keyboards to rule out any problems with things like @ or £ not being as expected, but still the same trouble. I did find mention of a requirement for 14 character passwords with at least 2 A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and special characters and followed that guideline, still no good. Through all this, I can still login to the web GUI as admin with the original password created for that user.
The plan now is reinstall 8.5.2, making sure we have a 14 character password, and then make a call on upgrading again or not. One thing's for sure, we'll take a snapshot of the completed 8.5.2 install!
Anyone seen anything like this before? I found no mention in release notes, bug toolkit or community postings, other than CSCtu19410 which describes "root password recovery not working" as being resolved in 8.5.3, but is still proprietary so I can't see the details.
Any similar experiences to share (especially if you fixed it!)?

Update - we had no choice but to re-install from 8.5.2 DVD wihch we did, the only difference this time is that we had 14 character passwords. We configured and tested, then upgraded to 8.5.5 once more, and this time we are able to login as mpxadmin and su to root. Nothing documented that I could find and no error trapping when setting the passwords, but I'd suggest sticking to 14 character or longer passwords for mpxadmin and root accounts.

If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. You can now go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your correct iCloud ID and password.

Everything you've had up to now has been tied to your old Apple ID. You cannot switch it over to a new Apple ID. You should contact iTunes support to help you with this:

Then the installer is asking you for the password of your administrator account. You need to authorize the installation.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Cannot sign in to Skype on Desktop after upgrade - cannot fill in user id and password boxes

My Skype forced me to upgrade right before a phone call today (7/12/2015) (why can't you let me go about my business first and upgrade later?). After the upgrade, Skype failed to aunch, and I received the blank screen at login. I terminated the processes, rebooted, and restarted Skype. I get the login screen, and my user ID is in the pre-filled area, but I cannot change that or type in the user ID box,, and I cannot type in the password box. I also did a system restore to a few days ago, and the same thing is ahppening. I am running the latest Skype (the help dialog works from the login screeen and confrms this)and Windows 7. What should I do?

Every time I upgrade an app it asks for a password

on my iPad and iPhone if I upgrade apps it asks for a password for every app. It used to just ask one time but now I have to add the password for every app upgrade.

If you have it set on 'immediately' and choose the option to 'update all' you'll only have to enter it once per session....as in if I have 3 apps to update, I can update all, enter my password once and it'll work for all 3 apps I need to update.
Do the same thing the next day and I'll have to re-enter the password the next day/session

Upgraded to Mountain Lion, now my login password doesn't work

As the title says, I upgraded my iMac with Mountain Lion, and now my password doesn't work. I can't log in to the computer at all.
And no, I didn't forget it. It's been the same since I first got it (so an unfortunate hack on wireless wouldn't be out of the question...)

If you are trying to do SPDD adjustments you need to login to the shadow instance and do the required adjustements.
you need to change the instance number in the GUI to the number you provided for the shadow instance and try to login with DDIC or SAP* in client 000 and the password will be the same as in your original instance.

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu. Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

Upgraded to ML, mail won't recognise passwords and now won't quit.

I just upgraded to ML and mail didn't recognise my passwords for two accounts.
I was able to send email out but cannot receive. Mail now won't quit.

After mucking around with settings for a while and rebooting twice, I changed the incoming server from pop.xxxx to mail.xxxx and hey presto it worked.
No idea why this change was necessary. I have some recollection that during the upgrade to Lion I had to change from mail.xxxx to pop.xxxx to make mail work.

Well, if your Firefox is crashing, it's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Since upgrading to Mavericks mail no longer saves password

Upgraded to Mavericks and since then every time I start mail it asks for my password. I went into mail prefernces under accounts and noticed my password was not eneterd. I entered the password and saved it but when I return to the account preferences it is lost. Any ideas?

Go to internet accounts in system preferences and deactivate Mail service.
After that go to MAIL preferences and add the icloud mail account.
it will be fine!
