Mega PC 651 with 3,06ghz and ht

I was just surfing around a little bit and i saw something very intresting about the sis 651 chipset thats been used in the megapc 651 it supports hyperthreading will this possible to use in the mega pc or will it not function
I know the specs from msi says only support for 2,8 and lower.
But than again the chipsets supports it so will the motherboard also support ht.

It's was be a problem with my hdd :-( . I'm install winme on to the new hdd and all looks ok.
I mast reformat my old disk (after backup datas ) and restore it backwards. Or ... replace old :-(

  • MEGA PC 651 and 1 gig of RAM

Hi Guys, I have a MEGA 651, cele 2.6 gig and i HAD 1 gig of ram in there... but after doing my usual tasks in XP, it would just reboot! as anyone had this problem? i take out 1 stick of 512 and it runs fine.  I think this may be an over heating problem because i noticed that extra stick of 512 generates quite a bit of heat.  Could it be a problem with the mobo handling 512 or ram as well?  If anyone has any info this would be great
    Thanks

    Thanks alot for your response..
Hmm i know its not the ram, its been tested in another system and its fine.. So it might be the power supply huh? how can this be resolved? i heard the mega PC 651 was released in 2 models.. 1 with a higher voltage power supply, i guess mine is the lower of the 2 released, if so..do i have to replace the power supply?

  • Problems with Mega PC 651

    Hi!!
I recently bought a MSI Mega PC 651 and equipped it with
CPU: Intel P IV 2.8 GHZ
RAM: 512 MB Kingston DDR 400
    HD: 120 GB Maxtor 6Y120P0
    DVD-RW: LG DVDRW 4040B
TV-Card: TV@nywhere Master especially for Mega PC
BIOS v1.1, radio firmware v66 (after flash newest available)
    I have several problems:
    1. When I press the eject button on the Mega PC the DVD-RW (LG DVDRW 4040B) ejects, but when I press it again, it won’t close – it immediately ejects.
    2. At the first start after booting in windows the TV-Software (msipvs v2.0.34.198) crashes to desktop without a error code when I press the time shift button. After a second start it works without crashing…
    3. I updatet bios to v1.1 and radio firmware to v66 (the newest ones). When flashing the radio firmware I was prompted to enter a new welcome message with 7 characters. I only was able to enter 3 characters which ended up with a unwanted welcome message. When starting the flash utility a second time I wasn’t prompted to enter a message. Is there a little utility or another possibility to re-enter a welcome message?
    Has anybody similar problems??
    Please help me!!

After flashing the radio receiver's firmware to latest I also stumbled into same problem. Now when I turn it on it says only "W     -" instead of "Welcome".
I'm trying as hard as possible to fix this problem, but Radio WebUpdate won't let me flash the firmware anymore because it has already been flashed to latest.
Now I'm downloading the latest radio receiver program and am hoping that I also get this Greeting program which can be used to change the normal greeting text!
Last version of radio receiver program didn't have Greeting program so if anyone of you guys have it I'd be more then happy to receive it!
You can send it directly to: [email protected]
It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Now I think I might even find a solution to the problem.

  • [Cannot be resolved] Mega Pc 651 and sblive 5.1

    Good Morning
I have a problem of compatibility between sound card SBLIVE 5.1 and Mega Pc 651 :
when I use "MEGARADIO", the sound doesn't work
Same problem when the pc is turned off, no sound even if i play a mp3's cd...
i've apply the patch given on http://www.msi-computer.fr/index.php?id=18&type_dl=6 (PATCH SoundBlaster Live) => no effect
Is there a solution ? (without using internal sound card)
PS : I also think for those which uses sound card superior than 5.1

    Quote
go into the windows volume control properties, and check there are volume controls for Radio and TV Tuner, and they are unmuted when the relevant app is running
Play control when i lauch Mega Radio :

i'm afraid though that in hifi mode you'll need to connect your speakers to the on-board sound, the hifi mode won't work with other soundcards
So, if i want to updrade to 7.1, it will never work under hifi mode
    Quote
why use the sblive 5.1 anyway? its quite an old card, and the on-board realtek audio is pretty good, and supports 5.1 sound anyway!
if the answer is because you need the gameport, then I suggest you upgrade your game controller to a modern USB type!
I cannot invest for the moment
    thx for your answer

  • PSU and CPU cooler for Mega PC 651

I got my hands on a 2nd hand msi Mega PC 651 for free because the case does not contain any CPU cooler and PSU.
Where can I bye these components?

    Hi Lewis,
I presume you are refering to this guide?
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/support/manual/note/quick_installation.pdf
I don't think there are any better instructions, other than what you might get with the CPU. Here's some breif comments that may or may not help though:
Get an anti static strap and attach it to earth, (ie I leave my main PC plugged in and attach to it's chassis, when working on another PC)
Your CPU may be attached to the heatsink with thermal paste, if it is be very careful
On my 865 the CPU heatsink is screwed to the motherboard, it may also be held on with levers. Disconnect it as appropriate
Once the heatsink is loose gently remove it, you may need to lift one side first or it may lift the whole CPU out
Once the heatsink is out lift the CPU lever, the CPU will easily lift out
you may wish to remove the old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink, I use ArctiClean 1+2 check your CPU supplier for options
put the CPU straight into an antistatic bag
Only when you are finished playing with your PC insides should you take off the antistatic strap
If you are still unhappy with these instructions try checking out the Intel or AMD website for help
    Hope this helps
    cheers

  • Problem with Mega PC 651

    Hi to all.
First of all I'm sorry for my English. I don't speak it very well cause I'm Italian.
I've purchased a MSI Mega PC 651 and I want to install my P4 2.8Ghz Northwood. The PC start correctly, but the bios post screen show that this processor is a P4 1.86Ghz and the multiplier is set to 14x. If I try to change it to 21x after I'm exiting from bios saving the settings, the multiplier is always 14x! Why!?
Microsoft windows XP SP2 and CPUz shows the correctly 2.8Ghz, but now I'm not sure that I'm using the full performances of 2.8Ghz or not...
Another question. I've downloaded the MSI Media Center Deluxe III but during the install it request a serial number. Where I can find/request it?
Thanks for all and sorry again for my English.

  • MSI MEGA PC 651 - LCD SCREEN PROBLEM

    Hi to anyone reading this!!!
My MEGA PC 651 has now started to show a malfunction on the LCD screen.  Only parts of the LCD is showing and the back light flickers.  I am desperate to fix the machine as everything else works fine apart from the screen!  I've had the machine a while now and really don't want to have to get a new system for the sake of the LCD screen malfunctioning on an otherwise perfectly working system!
Also, I am happy with everything it does and it is perfect for my needs!
I've contacted MSI directly, although understandably, they no longer have parts for this machine - (
Can anyone tell me where I could get a replacement screen/board from or if just the screen can be replaced.  I've had a look and can see the lcd screen fixed to the board and isn't removable - well, it is, but you would have to know what you're doing?!?!?
IF ANYONE CAN HELP, I WILL BE MOST GREATFUL!!!

  • MEGA PC 651 BOOTING/BIOS/HEATSINK PROBLEM

From this thread topic it seems really general but heres the deal...
I was recording some music with it and video editing the other night and the monitor went blank but the PC was still on.I rebooted and the PC started beeping with one long continuous beep.
From what i've found looking on here it seems to mean the RAM is faulty but i have managed to reboot for a while before experiencing the same problem which i'm guessing wouldnt be possible without any RAM
I opened up the case to inspect and noticed the heatsink clamps are broken which obviously isn't good because it means the CPU isn't being cooled as well as it could be but i have managed to sit the heatsink on the CPU with the thermal compound keeping it in place.I have emailed MSI to get some spare clamps but i'm not sure this will solve the problem.
As i have said tho i have managed to reboot the machine and work on it and then it shuts off again
The HDD light stays on when everything is powered up.Sometimes i get the continuous beep, sometimes i don't and sometimes it boots up like nothing is wrong.
Is it because the CPU is getting too hot? Or is it something else like the BIOS, the CPU or the mainboard itself?
Also...some segments are missing from the LCD display causing characters to not display properly - do i need to get a new LCD screen or can i rectify it with software or something?
    Please help me
    Thanks

I found someone had posted about getting spare clamps on here and they were successful in getting some from MSI
I just copied and pasted the email this user had sent to MSI to get them and they sent me some
The machine has been working again but is a really troublesome system
I still have trouble with the MEGA PC 651 - even getting it to boot even tho i had installed a new HDD and installed a fresh copy of XP
    It's just problem after problem

  • Mega PC 651 cant install Win98SE

    Hi
Im cant install Win98SE (update-CD) on my new MSI MEGA 651.
    Need it for some tasks.
W2K is running quit well, not yet fully installed (updated) but think will work.
    4 Partitions on 160GB HDD (C: 10GB FAT32, and 3 others with NTFS)
On this first I like to have Win98SE.
    Can run the Win-CD.
After first reboot (just after copy files from CD to HDD) it locks with IOS-Error.
When i try startup stepbystep i get message "cant write to PRN".
Already tried with anything disabled in Bios and lowest settings, just the same.
Tested the old vga.drv from windows, tried to reduce [CACHE] maxmemory
    Nothing helps ...
    Any idea?
    PLEASE HELP
Other Problem, Fan is starting an stopping (or changing the speed continiously) all the time (about 2 seconds) an thats noicy. If it would run faster all the time it would be much better.
Why is it changing all the time?

    in the meantime yes
dont know what of these two did help, but now I've got it.
I changed my first partition to 8 GB (I had 10GB) with Partition Magic
and I installed Win98 with MINIMUM-Installation features (instead of manual install).
No explorer and nothing else, just win98 with minimum configuration.
Possibly it hung because of wrong LAN-Port drivers I think, but dont know.
Dont like to try it again on and on to find the failure.
Just happy that I got it now.
BUT NOW my cooler-holder is BROKEN (black plastic part with 2 screws)!!!
The support let me know that they are already building new better ones ...
    LETS WAIT for another chrismas!!!
    My one is a monday-device ...
    Greetings from Vienna

  • Mega PC 651 - no POST beep, no booting! another one!!

Mega PC 651 - no POST beep, no booting!
I have looked at the forum and seen several postings similar, but nothing I have read helps
The MEGA PC651 is built with the following
    Intel Pentium 4 2.4ghz 533mhz SKT478  1mg cache Retail Boxed Processor
    Maxtor 6Y080L0 Plus 9  80GB 7200rpm UDMA133
DVD Samsung 52x32x52x16x Int IDE Combo
RAM Ebuyer 256MB DDR333 PC2700 Extra Value Ram (x two)
Not sure if the P4 processor is compatible, it has 1MB of cache. does that make it a Prescott, I can't seem to find out. the tag on the box reads BX80546PE2400ESL7YP
I do not get any POST beep,  the cpu fan or the HDD does not run when I push the  PC power button, in fact the only thing that starts is the power suply fan. The Hi-Fi Part works fine. I can't shut shut down the PC-part with the power switch, have to unplug the cable.
Is the problem the processor or the mother board
Tried clearing the CMOS but no change
    Thanks in advance

A Celeron 320 is a Celeron D, as far as I know and so it is also not supported.
Have a look at the official MSI Mega Pc page and you'll find a cpu-support list

    hi ,
thanks very very much for this nice information,
    let me answer you :
you said that NPE G2 has finite capacity , but how to know this full capacity ???
i mean that my policy map is matching the traffic , but the matched traffic is not being enhancemend ??!!!
last about two weeks , the matched traffic of youtube was excellent and no interrupt durting the my rush hour.
i didnt change any thing, but my bw increased from 730 Mbps to 760Mbps ,
im un able to make sure that i need to chnage my platform to faster one.
    agian
my cpu is 60 % without QOS
after QOS it increase to 80-85 %
    agian ,
    about NBAR
i want to tell you that i cant depend on NBAR , as an example , im matching the ips of videos of facebook , i cant depend on NBAR because it is https videos.
    but in summary ,
my qos is matching well , but i have no real enhancement for my traffic.
did you face my issue before  ???
i mean have you see like my problem ?
like my router platform  with cpu over 80 % and 750Mbps , and matched qos without good result ??
note that i upgraded to iso 15 , but seems same issue !!!
    regards

I bought a used iPhone on ebay.  when I try to activate it, I get a message that the owner needs to sign in to the device with their appleID and password.  I have no way of knowing who the owner is.  How can I get around this?

Check the eBay listing. Did it state the device was Activation Locked? If not, then make a claim as Meg stated and get a refund. You will not be able to activate the phone and no one can help you contact the owner, unless that is the person that sold the device. If they cannot remove the phone from their account because it is not theirs, then refund is your route. Even Apple cannot assist with locating the previous owner.
