Member Name Function

Can it b e ran in a report outside of the grid to get a "prompted" value?

Yes, it can be done. Please use the correct Member Function syntax.

  • ** Invaild Member Names when using @XREF **

    To the Oracle Nation,
I am using the @XREF function to obtain data from one database to copy to another. an Example of my calc string is as follows:
Fix(Jan:Dec,Product,NY,Other) - where NY = Next Year Budget
    "Sales" = @XREF(GetData,"Sales Wages",Soda,Entity,"NY working member",West);
When I run the calculation, the status shows that it has ran to success; however, no data is displayed when data is pulled from the target database. To throw a little twist into the mix, when I change "NY" to "NX" in my target database, it works just fine.
That being said, is NY, or any other name string, a restricted member name due to conflicts within Essbase. As side not, It also does not work with NNY or NNNY. We are at a lose on this one, and want to put this issue to rest.
    Thank you.
    Concerned Essbase Admin

To jump on Stuart's comment, I have had exactly this problem with XREF's.
In the bad old days (Planning 3.5.1, Essbase 6.5.x), I would actually force the creation of blocks in the target by assigning zeros and then clearing the values out to ensure that the calculation went through. Very painful and slow.
If block creation is in fact your issue, you should be able to use the SET CREATEONMISSINGBLK setting to create your blocks: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/calc/set_createnonmissingblk.htm
You might want to be careful, however, with how you use that setting and target very carefully what/where you are creating blocks as you might otherwise get way, way more blocks than you want.
I have not followed my own advice, wondered why my db was so big/slow, and then used SET MSG DETAIL to see all of the blocks roll in. Whoops. At least my numbers calculated. :)

  • Dimension Build - Change Member Names

Does anybody know if there is a way to revise outline member names through a load rule without affecting (losing) the data associated with those members? I have a .txt file with the current parent names, child names, aliases, properties, formulas, attributes and UDAs for the Products dimension. I would like to revise all of the level 0 member names without having to do so manually in the outline. Any help would be appreciated.

You can do this a couple of different ways. You can go into the outline itself through app manager, and witht he FILE drop down, update the outline at that point using your load rule. You could also automate this function with an esscomand script preforming and incremental dimension build (INCBUILDDIM).Randy Rehmer, Cincinnati Bell

  • Member Alias versus Member names

Hi I have a form in 9.2 for which in the Page Section, I have 4 dimensions selected. The properties for the 4 dimensions is set to display alias names. One of the dimensions does not have an alias name and it displays the member name instead.
After migrating the form to 9.3.1, I have not changed the member properties for the forms and this time the dimension-wihout-the-alias-name displays 'Null' since there isnt an alias name for the member.
Is this a feature change in 9.3.1? or is it a setting I have forgotten to modify?
    Thanks and Regards
    Kunal

    Hi,
9.3.1 does have the same functionality. If there is no alias available you should be seeing member names on forms.
There might have been something wrong during migration. Though, even if so, it is still strange you seeing "null" on forms.
Have you tried changing the property to show names, save and re-set back to alias and save again?
Also, you better make sure that you've applied the latest patches for all 9.3.1 modules.
    Cheers,
    Alp

  • How to compare substitution variable name to static member names (not data)?

Is there a way to write a BSO member formula that compares a substitution variable against the name of a static member (not the data value of the member)
For example, I have a BSO database that has the sub variable &CurrMth (which is set the real current month), and I am trying to use it in the Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 member formulas
    IF(&CurrMnth <> "Jan" AND &CurrMnth <> "Feb")
       "Mar";
The intention of the above is: if &CurrMnth is neither Jan nor Feb, then the Mar value will be used. However, the system is actually comparing the values of &CurrMnth and Jan/Feb, rather than the names/text string of "Jan"/"Feb".
I have been looking around the tech references, but I was unable to find any functions that will compare the text strings of member names as they all appear to compare against the data itself.
Please let me know if there are any ways to compare the member names themselves in a member formula, not the data values.
    Thanks!

Thanks Celvin, that looks like it works!
However, I do need to do the same function in the equivalent quarter members in our ASO cube as well. Do happen know know if there's a similar MDX function I could use in the ASO cube to acheive the same result? I was using the following to achieve this in ASO (which obviously did not work):
    IIF([Time Periods].[Jan] <> &CurrMth AND [Time Periods].[Feb] <> &CurrMth,
       [Mar],

  • Displaying HFM Member name and description in separate columns

    Hi,
I am trying to show HFM member code(Account Code) and Description in two columns in Financial Report (FR),anyone has idea whether that would be possible in HFM reports?
I thought of using MemberDesc but that will not serve my purpose.
    Thanks
    Asamant

    Hi,
I have to use that function not using grid, its like this:
AcctCode & Description : Generally we show member name, description or both in one column, fine.
But user's requirement is :Display Code in one column and Description in other column.
I think you understood my problem now.

  • Outputing member names & aliases from an outline

Is there a easy way to export member & alias info. If I open an outline, I can do a copy and paste, but only the member names themselves get copied, no alias info. Is there an easy way to do this.

I wrote an Excel utility workbook that works well for that issue (and some others). You can use it to do the following:1. Paste members you've copied from the Outline Editor into a single column. Admittedly, you can use Member Select for this...but when I wrote this, I was back and forth between Excel and App Manager so much that it was just easier.2. Using the highlighted range of member names or aliases, paste either member names, aliases, or both, into one or two columns. You can overwrite the original range or place the members/aliases in a different range.Other features include a "mini-cascade" with optional worksheet tab naming, and some Excel-specific functions, such as:Type a function and parameters, and the function will be applied to the highlighted range as values (great for quickly changing case of cells or extracting right, middle or left characters)....some other stuff, too. Anyone interested?Jared

  • Renaming Existing Member Names

We are trying to do a long list of outline Member name changes (~200 changes) for Level 0 or Parent Level members and noticed the API function ESBOTLRENAMEMEMBER . It looks like this could be used by others and have seen several Threads in OTN talking about the function, but I haven't seen any posts pointing to a working Excel VBA to do a Find/Replace with this function. Can Anyone point to a working VBA code to do a find/ replace?
what I am trying to do is have a worksheet with a "Original Names" and a column with "New Names" and have the code to a loop through the list.
This sounds like a basic task that many folks could use. Does anyone have something similar that they have created?
    Thanks ahead of time!
    Robert

I was doing exactly this recently with a 9.3.1 ASO cube. The forum will screw up the formatting but you can probably work out what's going on. Note the ???? placeholder for the number of lines and placeholders for APPNAME etc. This is very basic and features no error trapping - it was for a one time deal in a development environment, not regular and / or production use.
Any use is entirely at your own risk.
    Good luck!

  • Expected type [NUMBER] found [STRING] (["member"]) in function[operator@div

    Hi,
I am trying to recalculate a figure based on an annual percentage. The script is
    FIX(yr2011, Plan, CC_4363,draft)
    "AC_&&&&&& Salary" ="AC_&&&&&&Salary"* ("pay increase%"/100)
    endfix
    endexclude
I receive the error "expected type [NUMBER] found [STRING] (["AC_&&&&&&"]) in function[operator@div"
I looked at this forum and someone suggested using the @match function. I tried
    "AC_&&&&&& Salary" ="AC_&&&&&& Salary"* (@match(Accounts," pay increase%")/100);
This validated but the salary figure disappeared.
The reason I am not loading at monthly (level zero) is due to a business requirement. I am having to spread the figures down the months from the total year but if the total year is wrong or missing the montly data obviously disappears too.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    A few questions:
    1) I see an ENDEXCLUDE, but no starting EXCLUDE. How does that relate to the code?
    2) Do you really have member names with six ampersands in them? Is that even an allowed character? I guess it is but it looks odd as & is the character used to define the usage of an Essbase Substitution Variable. Okay, that was a comment, not a question, I guess.
    3) Do you have a Pay Increase% in every month? Or is it annual?
    3) Why don't you stick the salary value to be allocated into another Account, e.g., "Annual Salary" and place it in a single month. Then your code could look like:
    FIX(yr2011, Plan, CC_4363,draft, "Jan":"Dec")
    "AC_&&&&&& Salary" ="Annual Salary"->"BegBalance" * ("pay increase%"->"BegBalance" / 100)
    endfix
I created a BegBalance member which you may not have -- chose Dec or Jan as your home for Annual Salary and Pay Increase and go from there. I also forced the calc to happen at the month level -- I am assuming you have months in your app, but maybe not. Salt to taste.

  • HT204053 I am having trouble setting up icloud on MAC. In system preference it is listed as mobile me, it asks for member name and password. It also has a learn more button under "try mobileme for free". I am not getting anywhere

I am having trouble setting up icloud on MAC. In system preference it is listed as mobile me, it asks for member name and password. It also has a learn more button under "try mobileme for free". I am not getting anywhere

It's evident that you are using Snow Leopard or earlier (or very early Lion) since you have the now obsolete MobileMe preference pane.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
If you are running Leopard on an Intel Mac you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to access the Mac App Store - it's available in the online Apple Store. However if you have a PPC Mac you cannot run Snow Leopard and cannot proceed further.

  • How can I pass value based on member names in a script in 11.1.1.3

I want to pass a value to only those members of CostCenter dimension which has "5" in their name.
    Eg.
    C12345100
    C34565210
    C34217890
So in the above case the value should exist only in the above 2 cost centers.
Can someone guide me in the right direction to accomplish this ?
    Thanks in advance

Just now I got more clearance on the requirement.
I want to create blocks only on the selected Cost Centers & Business Unit combination.
I have the following members in both these dimensions
    Cost Centers
    C12345980
    C12345981
    C12345982
    Business Unit
    BU5980
    BU5981
    BU5555
Now I want to pass a value to one of the dense dimension members from Measure dimension (member name = CrtBlk) to only those CCs & BUs where the last 4 digit matches.
So in this case it will be for only the first 2 cost centers.
    Thanks in advance.

  • I recently upgraded from Firefox ESR version 10 to version 17.0.7, and the Serch by Name function no longer works.

I was using Firefox ESR 10.0.11 and was forced to upgrade to 17.0.7 yesterday, even though my cfg file is set to not allow updates. Since the upgrade, the Search by Name function has stopped working, i.e.: I used to be able to type "yahoo" into the address bar and go straight to yahoo; now, when I type anything that is not a complete URL into the address bar, it goes to allied.com. I have already gone into about:config and changed keyword:URL to http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q= and have also installed the Search By Name add-on. Neither of these work. Please help me.

Thank you for your reply. However, had you read my issue in full, you'd have noticed that I have ALREADY downloaded and installed the "Browse By Name" add-on, and it DID NOT work.
