Merge a remote database table using dblink

We have a merge statement running in source database which is merging to a table in remote database using db link. The remote table is partitonoed (interval) table.Source db is 10g and target is 11g.
this merge statement is failing with error saying,
error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
00942: table or view does not exist
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from ORCL_ONL_LIVE

How do you explain the ORA-00942 error first ? Are you able to select that table ? Can we see the merge statement ?

The procedure runs without error from the host database. The problem is when the procedure makes a call to the dblink.
I unsuccessfully attempted to capture the error message.
Question: Is it possible to execute remote procedures that use dblinks? If so, How is that accomplished.
Question: What is the proper way to handle exceptions in this case?
Bonus: What can be done to improve this procedure? (Suggestions, like adding return on the procedure).

Loading standard R/3 Hierarchy in BO Database Table using Data Services

Hello,
i'm trying to load Cost Center Hierarchy from R/3 to BO database table using SAP BO Dataservices 4.0
i have replicated the Data Flow and Abap Data Flow explained in SAP documentatio (SAP BusinessObjects Data Services 4-0 SP1 Supplement for SAP) and http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/ReadingR3Hierarchies
but it doesn't work
i get errors like:

It appears that the structures of the two Data Transports going into the Merge Transform don't have the columns in the same order. One of the Data Transports has PARENT_DESC listed before PARENT_ID and the other Data Transport has PARENT_ID before PARENT_DESC.
Basically, you need to change the order of the columns in one of the Data Transports so that it structurally matches the other Data Transport that it's being merged (UNIONed) with.

Inserting Multiple Rows into Database Table using JDBC Adapter - Efficiency

I need to insert multiple rows into a database table using the JDBC adapter (receiver).
I understand the traditional way of repeating the statement multiple times, each having its <access> element. However, I am just wondering whether this might be performance-inefficient, as it might insert records one by one.
Is there a way to ensure that the records are inserted into the table as a block, rather than record-by-record?

If we have multiple ACCESS tags then what happens is that the connection to the database is made only once. But the data is inserted row by row.
Why i am saying this?
If we add the following in JDBC Adapter..logSQLStatement = true. Then incase of multiple inserts we can see that there are multiple
<i>Insert into tablename(EMP_NAME,EMP_ID) VALUES('J','1000')
Insert into tablename(EMP_NAME,EMP_ID) VALUES('J','2000')</i>
Doesnt this mean that rows are inserted one by one?
Correct me if i am wrong.
This does not mean that the transaction is not guaranted. Either all the rows will be inserted or rolled back.

I am trying to create a MV with incremental refresh option on a join query with 2 tables of remote database.
Created MV logs on 2 tables in the remote database.

Primary Key is on EMPNO for EMP table and DEPTNO for DEPT table.
Actually, I have been asked to do an feasibility test whether incremental refresh can be performed on MV with join query of 2 remote database tables.
I've tried with all combinations of ROWID and PRIMARY KEY, but getting different errors. From different links, I found that it's possible, but cannot create any successful testcase anyway.
It will be very much helpful if you can correct my example or tell me the restrictions in this case.

In reference to the thread above, my question goes like this:
Let's say I want to run a query from a database and use data from another database. I have the user, password, SID and port number of the other database but do not want to create a separate connection using sqlplus or connect commands.
Something like this:
SQL> show user
USER is "A"
SQL> select a.col1, b.col2 from tab1 a, tab2@????? where <some condition>;
Can this connection be done on the fly ?? I agree that a DB link will do the trick, but let's say I am not supposed to create objects on the other database.

You need two sets of privs on the remote database to view data in that database schema:
- create session (the schema must allow client connections to create schema sessions)
- select on other schema tables whose contents to view
You need a single priv on the local database, to connect to that remote schema on the other database:
- create database link
You also need the following in order to create the db link:
- the remote schema name and password
- IP address or hostname of the remote db server
- the remote Listener's tcp endpoint port
- the name of the remote database (SID, instance or service name)
If you do not have these privs, you cannot use/access the remote database from the local database session via a database link.
Other alternative methods needs additional privileges and objects on both the remote and local database sides - and are more complex (e.g. using web services, using web-enabled procedures, etc).

In the above code im geeting project D which is an integer value. But not able to get the project name.

Field_1 is a Date field, Field_2 is a String, and Field_3 is an integer.
Any of the fields could be null. If the user does not enter a value for any
one of these fields what would be the values for
Value_1, Value_2, or Value3 in the Query_String?

Thanks.Keep in mind that each database server probably has their own way of storing date values. For now, I'm going to assume that you're going to be using MySQL.

This will just enter empty string values if the strings are empty.

Populating SAP Database table using JDBC adapter

I have a requirement to populate a SAP database table say ZTABLE using XI. The Model is the table has to be populated through a file which will be processed by SAP XI. Basically this is a File to JDBC scenario. The database used is ORACLE. Kindly provide me some idea to go ahead.

I tried to place the MS access table in the shared folder of the Application server system but still it seems the table is not being populated.
did you check the log in your receiver channel? (/people/sameer.shadab/blog/2005/10/24/connecting-to-ms-access-using-receiver-jdbc-adapter-without-dsn)
The requirement is to update the tables directly as those are the custom tables.
i would still say that do not update SAP tables directly from XI/ PI.....this is not a standard architecture/ solution....

How to adjust database table using ABAP code

Hi Experts,
There is any function module can use to adjust the db table?
Because I found that after I modified the database table by using FM 'DDIF_TABL_PUT' and 'DDIF_TABL_ACTIVATE',
the table feel like no changes when I check the table in SE11.
But after I switched to edit mode, then only table changed to the expected properties.

I used the function module DB_CREATE_TABLE to create a database table from a report program.
The SY-SUBRC value being returned is 0 but I am not able to access the table using SE11(that is if it gets created). Kindly let me know if you know how to resolve this problem.
Is there any other function module to create a database table from a report program?

   I heard there was Program in 4.6 version as i am unaware of that as well.

Create a data source and database tables using WSAD

Hi, guys:
the following is from a tutorial:

"To create the data source and Cloudscape database tables automatically, right click on the HelloWorldServer in the Servers view, and select the Create tables and data sources menu item. A dialog will then display showing that the data source and database tables were created successfully (Figure 5)."
I am using WSAD 5.0 trial version. I cannot find Create tables and data sources menu item if I right click on the HelloWorldServer in the Servers view. I am wondering if this is because trial version does not have this feature?
