Merging two Queries in single crystal report lauout

Hi All,
I need to show two reports from two different BEx queries in a single crystal report layout. The queries are independent of each onther and having their selection variables. I have implemented two subreports for two queries in a main report. Now the problem i am facing is, though both the queries are having same slection(Profit Centre and Fiscal Per/Year), they are getting repeated in crystal report parameter screen. I have to enter the values for selections for each report.
Is there any method to merge the selections for both reports if they are same, so that i can enter the selections only once?
Thanks in Adv,
Shubhramukta.

Hi,
I have two queries in BEx having Selections. Query 1 is having selections (Profit centre and Fiscal Per/Yr) and query 2 is having same selections as well(i.e. Profit centre and Fiscal Per/Yr). I have created two reports corresponding to these queries have used as subreports in a main report using Crystal report 2008. When i run the main Crystal report, it automatically prompts for values to be entered, as variables are set at BEx query level.
Though both the reports are having same selection variables, crystal report asks to enter values two times , once for each report, and it is obvious.
Parameters are Crystal parameters.
Is there any method to merge the parameters,is selection variables are same, so that it will ask only once?
Thanks

  • Can I create one single  crystal report using 2 bex queries

    HI all,
I have 2 bex queries and has to develope a single crystal report .Is it possible???? If so, than how to connect two bex queries  and develope  one single crystal report.Any other option is also fine. I mean ....no need to use crystal..( I can go for one single webi..).But need to know the approach ...
or else...can I create universe on 1 bex and other universe on other bex ..and go for one single webi report..
Only problem is client is particular about one single report(either crystal or webi)
if i go for webi ...I know we can use link universe option but I dont know whether it works fro OLAP environment.
Please let me know if I can link OLAp universes and go for 1 single webi report.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

You can use either CR or WebI.
In CR Designer create the report using the SAP toolbar (Create report from query) based on the 1st BEx query. Then use the Database expert (first entry in the Database menu) to add an additional connection to your 2nd BEx query (+Create new connection->SAP BW DX query). You can then join the results of the 2 different queries in the database expert also.. Please note that if you do NOT want to join the result sets, then it is more efficient to use subreports. Create two different CR reports, each based on one of the BEx queries and then use one of those as your main report and insert the other one into it as subreport. Once embedded you do not have to keep the separate .rpt file of your second report.
For Webi you must build 2 universes, each based on one of your BEx queries. In your report you can add multiple queries based on different universes. You can join the results sets here by using the Merge dimensions button in the report editor area.

    Stratos
PS; Keep in mind that joining a large number of rows at report level (either in CR or WebI) can cause performance problems. If this is your requirement, how many rows do you expect to get back from each individual query?

  • How do i access multiple bex queries in one crystal reports??

    Hello Experts,
I have 10 cubes and 30 bex queries on it and i need to create 3 final crystal reports on these 30 queries.
I am on BI 4.0 & CR 2011. but my client is not on correct SAP patch ie., he is on 15+ but he must be on 23+ to access multiple bex queries on CR 2011 Database expert. (I am unable to see bex queries in Database expert to link couple of bex queries)
And my client env doesnt have SAP EP for SAP BW Netweaver Connection to create a connection to access cubes or queries in IDT.
Do my client env need EP? so that SAP BICS Connection will work in IDT?
How do i approach to achive this...
    Thank you...

    Hi,
have you checked the option "allow external access" in your query? SAP Toolbar will find all queries but the database export needs this flag to be set.
Using multiple queries within one crystal report is using the "multi database join feature" of crystal reports. You can link your queries by key fields and crystal will join them in memory. So when there are many queries or many datarows this can be a huge performance killer.
Actuallly one of our customers is running a report which has more than 20 BEx queries linked together. It runs just fine.
Please be sure to set your joins correctly. E.g. crystal will try to make a join on the "key figures" sturcture if you let it create a suggestion or it will try to link on all fields of an infoobject. This will bring MDX errors.
So you should be setting your joins correctly - the [infoobject]-[20infoobject] fields are fine for that.
I hope you can use some of my words.

  • Single Crystal Report based on Five different SAP BEx Quries.

    Hi,
I need to create 5 different Charts (in a single report)  based on five different SAP BW BEx Queries. These are charts with 3- axes i.e. X,Y,Z.
The example requirement is to create Line charts (Vertical Mixed Line Charts) and deatils are as follows: The chart should show CPU Utilization % for different servers (eg. Servers1,2,3,4,5) for each day in a particular month.
    Axes details:
    X- Axis - Date eg: 01 /09/2010 to 30/09/2010
    Y-Axis - CPU Utilisation Percent
    Z-Axis - Servers from 1 to 5
The above detailed chart comes from a BEx Query . In this way there are four more BEx queries which should give four other charts.
    My queries are:
    1. Is this possible to create a single report using five different BEx queries and Create 5 different charts(one chart from each BEx Query) in a single tab as in the current manual report.(All the five Line charts should be downloadable to a single sheet in Excel)
    2. One more, should I use Crystal Reports only? The charts are of high format natute so Web Intelligence will not produce the same.  Is any other tool that helps for this requirement.
    3. I can create five different Universes based on BEx Queries. Is this possible to create a single report from five different Universes.
    Please advise.

To start with you cannot use SAP BW universes in Crystal Reports., YOu have to use the BW MDX driver.
For performance reasons I would suggest to add 4 subreports into your main reports containing each on of the 4 remaining charts.

  • Performance issue with two Infosets in one crystal report

I am using two infosets that are not linked together by any primary key. The main infoset had transaction records and the seconds infoset has only one record (which is a foreign exchange rate). The performance is slow and I am presuming its because there are no linked fiields between the infosets, everytime a record is read from the main infoset it goes to the second infoset and also reads the record there. Is there a way toimprove performance? How can I have the report read the second infoset only once and stiore that value to be used when reading trecords from the first infoset.

  • Using 2 Universe Queries in Crystal Reports

    Hi,
I am trying to use Universe queries in a Crystal report.
I want to use 2 Universe queries and then link the common dimensions between them using the Database Expert,   is these similar to merge dimensions in Web Intelligence?. Is it possible? Or how can I do to merge objects that came from 2 Universe queries?
My problem is when I tried to execute the report, Crystal Reports get stuck.
    Any ideas would be helpful.

  • Crystal Report with multiple BEX queries

I have a Crystal Report that uses 6 different BEX queries.  The report needs to display the results from each query, there is no need to join these queries.  The Crystal Report is using subreports and displaying the data one BEX query after another.
The issue I have is that these BEX queries all have the same mandatory variable.  This is causing Crystal to prompt the user to enter the same variable filter once per BEX query.
If we change the BEX queries so only the first BEX query has a variable and use Crystal to filter the other 5, the performance is unacceptable.  My guess is the other 5 queries are experiencing client side filtering instead of the filter being passed down to BW.
Is there a way to have multiple BW queries with the same variable and have Crystal only prompt the user to enter input one time?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
My understanding of the issue is :
--You have 6 Bex queries and are displying on after the other becaused you have inserted all these queries as sub report.
--All your Bex queries are having same parameter / prompt / variable which will take user input and filter the data.
--Now the report is prompting the user to enter prompt / variable 6 times.  You are looking for an option to proimpt only ones insted of 6 tiems.
If I understood correctly follow the method to link sub reports to grab the parameter value form main report parameter :
Right click on sub report go in Change Subreport Links, select main reort prompt / varieable and then select sub report prompt / parameter / variable.
Do the same for all your sub reports.  This will eliminate asking / prompting the same parameter value several times.
    Thanks,
    Sastry

  • Crystal Report against ECC 6.0 with SSO configured

I created a simple report against the ECC 6.0 Article table and saved it to InfoView. I can run the report fine, but when others run it they get an error stating the logon parameters are incomplete. We are in the process of configuring single sign on and have created other Crystal Reports going against ECC 6.0 with Business Views where SSO turned on in the data connection. Everyone can refresh those reports with no problems. Is their some report setting that needs to be set for Crystal Reports using a data source directly against ECC 6.0 tables?

We have multiple reasons for implementing SNC.
The main reason we have enabled SNC is to simply the users experience while working in the SAP environment. We are going live this month with Plant Maintenance, SRM, Project System, General Ledge and Asset Management reporting cubes in our BW environment as well as in our ECC 6.0 environment. We have  set up SAP Portal and have created iviews to BOBJ folders and reports. Users are authenticated once by logging on to the Lan. Once logged on we would like them to seemlessly run SAP transactions and Business Objects reports through the SAP Portal based on their job function. Each user has security setup in BOBJ and SAP to allow access to transactions and reports appropriate for their job function.
We have three types of SAP reports and data connectors.
    - One set of Crystal reports go against ECC 6.0 through Business Views with a Data Connection set up for SSO.
    - One set of WEBI reports goes against BW queries though Universe Connections set up for SSO.
    - One set of Crystal reports go directly against ECC 6.0 tables.
    We currently have two issues:
    1) The Crystal reports going directly against ECC 6.0 tables are returning the error
Error - The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.
    2) When we send a link to any report using OpenDocument if the user is not logged on to InfoView they get a rather long error message:
Account Information not recognized: Active Directory Authentication failed to log you on. Please contact your system admin....
Our hardware and server setup is a load balancer connected to a cluster of two Tomcat servers connected to two BOBJ servers.

  • Switch from OINV to ODRF in Crystal Report layout for print the Invoice?

    Hi,
I have imported in Sap Business One some standard report developed by Sap with Crystal Report (like Sales Invoice).
I have try to print my Invoices and all is OK, then I have try to print a Draft Invoice and, even in this case, is all ok. Then I have open the Crystal Report designer for this print module, and the entry point is the OINV table. How can he print succesful the Draft Invoice (that is in the ODRF table ObjType = 13)? Formula Field? I don't understand!!
    Thank for the help!!
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
You only need a single Crystal report for this. Base it on a stored procedure which has two INT type parameters @DocKey and @ObjectId. Within your SQL create IF blocks to handle different @ObjectId values:
IF @ObjectId = 13 then use the invoices tables OINV/INV1 etc.
IF @ObjectId = 112 then use the draft tables ODRF/DRF1 etc.
Don't forget to put the @ symbol at the end of the parameter in the report itself. That is all that is needed to create a single report that works for both added invoices and draft invoices. You could extend the SQL to handle other @ObjectId values like 14 for AR Credit Notes and so on.

  • Crystal Reports XI to Crystal Reports XI Release 2

Is there an SR update to go from Crystal Reports XI to Release 2?  Or is it essentially a whole other version of the software and must be purchased seperately?
Can Crystal Reports XI Release 2, save files back to Crystal Reports XI version?
I'm supporting two applications that utilize Crystal Reports as its reporting engine.  Problem is that one uses Crystal Reports XI and the other Release 2.

    Hi Wenin,
We can upgrade from Crystal XI to Crystal XI R2.
We need to have the set up  or download of  Cr Xi R2 enter the key and run the Cr Xi r2 application.
If we have requirement to run multiple applications one single machine then we can install.
Else it is recommended to have one version of crystal on client machine.
Bcoz both versions  will have same registry keys and .dll files .
So, be aware and can run the 2 crystal applications easily.
    Thanks,
    Naveen.

  • Localization of text objects in Crystal Report RPT file

    Dear all,
Does anyone know how support multiple locale text (English and French) in one single Crystal Report RPT file.  Is there a way to parameterize  text objects (including tiles, axis,  of chart) in the Crystal Report RPT files to use some sort of locale resource file containing text string for different languages based on the users of RPT at runtime? The idea is to use one single RPT file to generate report for different locale text instead of creating RPT file per locale. For example, inserting a text object  in RPT file and it has text "Welcome" in English and use the same RPT file and parameterize that text object's text with a resource file and the text of that object will retrieve the proper localized text from that resource file at runtime based on the user's locale setting.

Easiest way is to place duplicate copies of charts in split sections.
If you have a chart in a group footer, split into two sections place English chart in one and french in the other.
In section expert suppress section based on language field in database. You can do same with Text box or you can over lay two text boxes one in english one in French and then format text box to suppress depending on language. Looks really messy in designer but will be fine in Preview.

  • Localization of CrossTab row and column label Crystal Report RPT file

    Dear all,
Does anyone know how to support multiple locale texts (English and French) in CrossTab Row and Column Header labels and grand total labels? Is there a way to parameterize text objects CrossTab in one single Crystal Report RPT file to use some sort of locale resource file containing text string for different languages based on the users of RPT at runtime? The idea is to use one single RPT file to generate report for different locale text for CrossTab Row and Column abels and grand total labels  instead of creating RPT files per locale?

    Hi,
Does the database have a column that identifies the language? If it does, then you could create two separate cross-tabs and place them in different sections and conditionally suppress the section depending on the language from the database.
That's the only thing that can be done in my opinion.
