Messaging Express 6.2 - Attachment Problem

Hi,
I have Messenger Express working fine but when I try and view or detach an attachment through the webmail interface I get nothing. Sometimes just a blank white page, sometimes some error about my preferred language has changed and then need to login again.
I noticed that when you hover over the link to the attachment it has some sort of Javascript or pop up window. Is there a way to configure Messenger Express to allow a 'right-click save as' or even have a small detatch button next to the attachment.
Maybe I have missed something but it seems odd that you can't detatch attachments in Messenger Express. If the file is an image, it displays ok in a new window when clicked. Seems to have problems with any other attachments.
thanks,
Rob

Applying the patch with the patchadd command will just update the binaries, for wich there should be the backward compatiliby.
Package installation, anyway is not all you need... because even if the binaries are replaced, all the configuration files and expecially the html sources of WebMail are not.
So you need to run the patch-config command, that checks all your configuration files, and summarizes you the differences between your actual configuration and the patched release of configuration files and html source; this command also creates a mirror directory-tree under <SERVER_ROOT>/install/patch/<PATCH_VER>-<REL>/save in which it puts the new config & html source files ready for the installation.
After checking everything you've got to run the patch-install command that effectively applies the new configuration and saves the old one in <SERVER_ROOT>/install/patch/<PATCH_VER>-<REL>/backout
In the end you've got to check and apply some LDIF-patches:
<SERVER_ROOT>/lib/patch/cfgdir_diff.ldif
<SERVER_ROOT>/lib/patch/ugdir_diff.ldif
that makes changes to the configuration directory and to the user directory
... keep finger crossed and you're done!
Those patching method is AWFUL if you didn't any customization.... and it can become really a NIGHTMARE if you customized in some way your environment (additional WebMail features, and so on)

  • Problems to autenticate users with Messager Express.

    Greetings,
I'm relatively new to iPlanet MS. I have IMS 5.1, Directory Server 4.13 and Delegated Administrator for Messaging and Collaboration 1,1.
When I create an user into of a domain diferent to the default domain with iDA and I try the Messager Express with this new user, I receive the following error:
    Invalid user name or password
    This is the LDAP tree:
    org.org

    Organization 1 (default domain)
    | |
    | People --- user1
    | Group
    | |
    | Organizacion 2
    | |
    | People -- user2
    Organization 3
    |
    People --- user3
Any user who belongs to the organization 1 does not have any problem to use Messenger Express. If user1 send a mail to user2, user2 receive the mail. user2 (or user3) can to use Calendar Server, but does not the Messenger Express.
How I can resolve this problem ?
    Thanks in advice

    Frank,
First, since this is not the default domain, make sure you are logging in as: [email protected] ([email protected]).
Second, take a look at the directory server access log and make sure it is searching for the user under o=org3, o=org.org.

    Hi,
Could you please have a share with your phone's information?
Based on what I know, different phones may have different softwares developed by the manufacturer to make the connection through Windows operating system, we may check with the phone's manufacturer side and see if there could be some helpful information
    offered.
Besides, please take a check with
Event Viewer and see if any special errors logged there.
    Best regards

  • Is there a way to avoid a iPlanet Messaging Express home user to copy from the email message ( email content ) body and paste on to a local place( it Hard disk, for an ex )?

Is there a way to avoid a iPlanet Messaging Express home user to copy and paste email body content and avoid attachment deliver attempts?Cause this could grant home users to take ownership of enterprise's documents, sending to them selves and after that, in their own homes, they access Messaging Express, recieve their email with the forbbiden content and then copy and paste to it's own's hard disk.

It may be possible, but then what would prevent the user from running a "screen grabber" to capture the data. The underlying question that you need to ask is, "Who can you trust?" If you're concerned about confidential documents being stolen/disclosed, then that is where your security starts. If someone can't access a document, they can't E-mail it or transport it elsewhere. Who says they can only use E-mail? Using ftp is more efficient, or a floppy/Zip/Jazz drive could also be used. Trying to "secure" the E-mail client would be like plugging a single hole in a water pipe full of leaks. You have to shut off the water at the source.

  • Message with a large attachment will not copy to SENT folder...what can I do to correct?

After sending a message with a large attachment, I receive an error message that the message did not copy over into the SENT file. It allows me to retry, which does not correct the problem. Ultimately, I have to 'X" out of the message without knowing for sure if the message was sent.

Well that really leaves one thing.
Create an exception in your Anti virus program to exclude the Thunderbird profile folder from on access scanning.
Locate your profile folder by going to the Thunderbird help menu and opening the troubleshooting entry and clicking on the show folder button. Windows explorer will open in your profile folder.
There have been issues with slowness and scripts timing out recently caused by scanning, I am sort of hopeful this is another manifestation.
Basically it takes an Anti virus program some minutes to scan a 1Gb file and I think what is happening is Thunderbird tried to update the file, the AV starts scanning because the file has been opened and after that Thunderbird just gives up.

Hi I have this problem which I believe you can help me resolve:
In my code, there are two lines:
message.setContent(messageBody, "text/html"); // this sets body of message
    message.setContent(bodyPartObject); // this attaches a file
but it turns out that the second "setContent" statement over-writes the first one, so that I get no message in the body of the mail.
What can I do about it, shamik1? Thanks!

  • Create Attachment problem in IW22

    Hi
In the Transaction IW22, GOS is enabled and when i am clicking on the create-create attachment button, i donot get any pop up to select the document from the PC. But I get the sap note pad to enter text when i click on create - create note menu option.
Please give some ideas on where could be the problem. Is this some kind of problem with the server installation or missing some dll files?
    Thanks.

  • New document: How to avoid known PDF email attachment problems

Have you ever had problems with PDF attachments sent from Adobe Reader for iOS using Share > E-mail Document?
You may find this document useful to avoid the problems.
How to avoid known PDF email attachment problems
Please let us know if you have encountered different types of problems with PDF attachments.  We can look for solutions or workarounds for you.

Unfortunately, we (Adobe Reader mobile team) do not know if/when Apple will fix the attachment problems (software defects) in Apple Mail.
In particular, the attachment problem with Microsoft Outlook (See Problem #2 in How to avoid known PDF email attachment problems) appears to be a long-standing defect that has been known for years.  However, Apple has not provided any fix for Apple Mail yet.
Adobe Reader for iOS merely launches Apple Mail (the default mail app on iOS) to send a PDF document as an attachment.  Adobe Reader has no control over whether or not to embed a preview image of an attachment in the body of an email message, which is known to cause the problem with Microsoft Outlook (on the receiving side).  The same problem happens when you send a single-page PDF document as an attachment along with an email signature from Apple iBooks on iOS.
For now, all iPad/iPhone users can do is to avoid the problems by using the workarounds that are described in How to avoid known PDF email attachment problems.
When new and different problems with PDF attachments are reported by Adobe Reader for iOS users, we will update the document above.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Messaging Express Issues / Solutions

We are having loads of problems with users with various types of ad blockers and popup blockers, much like this: http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=15&threadID=21746
Due to the nature of the various combinations of browsers/patches/ad blockers/versions/operating systems that users have been using, its been hard to diagnose the multitude of combinations of things that are affecting it.
The one thing we do know, is that 'compose', 'reply' and 'forward' buttons are the ones that are effected by these blockers - these are the buttons that 'popup' windows.
This is incredibly annoying for us, and for the users - they are well within their rights to use ad blockers, and they shouldn't expect it to block legitimate applications.
So, enough with my gripes, and a few questions:
    - When is Sun going to develop a J2EE web application for their mail product? I heard a rumour that this was in the works, but we are still stuck with the horrible (and very slow to load, hard to maintain/debug) server-side Javascript.
    - Has anyone had any success in not using Messaging Express, and made available an open-source webmail client for their users? Perhaps, something like Horde? Was it easy to implement? Any Success stories? Failures?

Mainly the problems have been related to the fact that the client uses server-side Javascript. As everyone knows, javascript does vastly different things over different browsers (and different OS's) and is causing alot of headaches.
Both customization guides (http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/817-6446) in Messenger Express 6 and Communications Express 6(we dont use calendar anyways..) still seem to rely heavily on similar Javascript from what we are using with 5.2.
Are there any plans to move away from this?

when i click on an excel or word file in 2007 the program begins to open but then an error message says There was a problem sending the command to the program.
i am using office2007  with windows7 premium home edition.  i have checked file associations., all DDE settings. i have even tried this in safe mode. the same thing happens. please note once i see the error. i can then go back to the file click on
it a second time and it WILL open. AND i can open any file if i open excel and and find the file from there. i uninstalled and re-installed office 2007 from scratch. And i checked the compatibility mode (all un-checked) still the problem persisits. this is
a real PITA.   anyone have any solution for this? Thanks
    ken yanow

    Hi,
Have you try to un-select the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) setting?
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
check box in the General area.
    Click OK.
If the problem cannot resolve, the Run as administrator may selected.
Go to Office default install location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12.
    Right-click EXCEL.EXE > Properties >
    Compatibility tab.
Under Privilege Level, uncheck Run this program as an administrator
    check box.
    Best regards.

I get the message 'itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close' when trying to open itunes 11.1.1.11. I had to uninstall itunes so that I could load this version as the update to version 11 kept failing. The PC says 11.1.1.11 is correctly loaded, but I now cannot open itunes. Any advice on how to get itunes working again?

    Hello there, ytnoj.
Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes can be a tricky endeavor and must be done in a very specific way. The following Knowledge Base article provides the step-by-step of the process:

  • Downloaded Mt Lion.  Now my facetime launches then quits with message that there is a problem with the  C_L Kernel Plugin.  Everything else works just fine. I can get on line etc.

I have have an early 2008  imac 8,1  It has been a good machine no problems.  UNTIL we downloaded Mt Lion. We can no longer use facetime.  We click on the icon it comes up, tries to connect then it disappears with the message that there was a problem with the C_L Kernel Plugin.  We can go on line without difficulty, everything else seems to be working.  Searching the internet shows that others have had the same problem with Mt Lion. But so far I haven't found a solution.  We have wiped the drive reloaded snow leopard then downloaded Mt Lion again. We put in a NEW hard drive and reloaded snow leopard then Mt Lion. We have changed out ram using apple ram. But we still get the same result. Everything works except for Facetime.  Is there some patch we have missed?  Facetime DOES work on our ipads without a hitch so I doubt it's the internet connection.  We've tried the imac both wirelessly as the ipads run and hardwired and get no where fast.  So any help at all would be appreciated.  We live in the boonies, the nearest mac repair is over 150 miles away so this is pretty nuch a do it myself affair.  We know the machine is old by most standards today. But we pretty much run our machines until they can't power up.  So we'd like to get this one back on its perch so to speak with its face time working.
Thank you ahead of time for any advise help given.

A log may help determine what the issue is ...
Open the Console app located in HD > Applications > Utilites
Select: System Diagnostic Reports  on the left.
Copy and paste the most recent kernel panic or crash log in your Reply.

When I start the program I instantly see this message:  "Adobe Bridge encountered a problem and is unable to read the cache, please try purging the central cache in cache preferences to correct the situation".  I have tried this and it only results in a stalled/locked program.  I have tried restarting my machine multiple times and tried reconfiguring how the cache is managed.  Do you have anyone who could walk me through each step to correct this problem which just started two days ago.  I have owned this program for at least a year now...

Kolyei, sorry for the late reply.
Have your brother create a contact in his phone for himself. Inside his own contact, have him add his phone number and his iCloud address.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive Have your brother select both his phone number and email addresses where he would like to receive iMessages.
