Meta Dir 5.1 on W2K SP3

Anyone have install meta dir 5.1 on W2K succesfully ?
I got "httpd.exe unknow software exception" error after installating it. And the Admin server cannot start.
I am using W2K Server SP3 for testing, any idea whats wrong ?
Thanks.

With the md5.1 release you will need to install the Meta Directory software into a seperate server root (directory location) on the disk to Sun ONE Directory Server. The meta 5.1.1 release will come with the same admin console as used in Directory Server 5.2 that will enable the two products to be installed in the same server root.
The httpd.exe is a process with the core admin console.

  • Oracle 8i Enterprise will not install under w2k sp3

    Hi!
    My problem is, that the setup-programm from cd does not start when opend.
    My pc is an p4 m, 1gb RAM with w2k sp3.
    Do you have any hints?
    Regards
    Heiko

    No, not realy!
    I have found some info about trouble with installtion on a p4-machine.
    The work around is discribed as
    - copy your cd to harddrive
    - search vor symcjit.dll and rename it
    - start installation
    It worked, but there are some failures. When i tried to deinstall, i had the same problem again. But this time the workaround won't work.

  • Support for W2K sp3

    Does/will Sun One 6.0.* support Windows 2000 Service Pack 3? When will such support be declared and with which version of the Sun One Web Server product?

    We discovered that iws 6 SP5 does NOT support W2K SP3.
    It looks like it works, but we discovered that the virtual (soft) server feature simply does not work at all.
    we had to reinstall our server with SP2....

  • Oracle 9i & Meta Dir 5.0

    Hi there,
    Can anyone tell me whether MetaDir 5.0 will work with Oracle 9i. When configuring a datasource/dataserver for Oracle - unable to retrieve schema..
    Any suggestions ?

    No ... Oracle revisions 8.1.5 or 8.1.7 only are supported by the Meta 5.0 Database connector. I believe they are adding Oracle 9i support to the 5.1 release.
    That said, I haven't tried 9i to see if it will work but based on my experiences with this connector, I suspect it will not.

  • ACS 3.1: CSTacacs service failure on W2k SP3

    Hi all
    We are experiencing problems with our ACS server, whereby the CSTacacs services fails and the following errors are generated in the 'Event Viewer':
    1) From the 'Application Log', in 'Event Viewer':
    CSTacacs could nto be started. Failed to initialize Crypto module (service specific error 69)
    2) From the 'Application Log', in 'Event Viewer':
    The CSTacacs service terminated with service-specific error 1066
    We have seen this problem a few times recently, and on the last occasion, I had to reboot the server in order to get the services running again
    Fortunately, we are also running a Secondary ACS server, however, I am being asked to explain what is happening here !
    This looks similar to CSCeb11405 - CS services cannot be started, however, we do not running any Access Points on this network ...
    Any ideas ?
    Many thanks in advance for any help
    Kind regards

  • CAN'T Configure Meta View on suffix that containts Sub-Suffix

    Hi All,
    I'm triyng to configure a Meta view without success.
    I use SUN One Meta Dir 5.1 with Dir 5.1 sp2 on Win2000 Server sp3.
    The Meta View targets the suffix of my Directory Server
    The suffux is like "dc=company,dc=fr"
    I created sub suffix under my Suffix like
    ou=Applications,dc=company,dc=fr
    ou=People,dc=company,dc=fr
    etc ...
    I do that because the customer wants to be able to replicate sub database.
    Does the Meta Directory not support this configuration ?

  • 1.4.1 plugin not working?

    I have deployed Java applets on IE5/6 with plugin versions 1.3.x up until 1.4.0_01 without any problems. Recently I upgraded to 1.4.1 (what does FCS stand for?) and now applets deployed in a JAR file fail to load and start altogether.
    I use the plugin as the default Java content handler for IE6 and use a plain <applet> tag. With 1.4.0_01 this worked perfectly. Also some other applets which are deployed as class-files show strange behaviour also.
    The Java console shows no errors. What is wrong? 1.4.0rc had some plugin problems also, but these where gone in the release version.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Silvio Bierman

    I also experienced problems with IE6 and this JDK/JRE.
    I'm using W2K SP3 and have and SP1 patch for IE.
    Upon chance I stumbles upon other reports on google (primarily derived from users in the Netherlands) who also experienced problems since they installed SP3 for W2K. The theory is that MS has incorporated some kind of security check. This is second hand info though and I know nothing about it, so I really can't say if the fault is SUN's or Microsoft's.
    What I can say though is that the problem manifested itself via the SUN JVM. My symptom was that both IE 6 and Mozilla 1.0 would just silently close all windows running under the process firing up the JRE. This information would have been impossible to get just by using IE or Mozilla, as no error messages were shown, nor core dumps or similar (does MS Windows have a dump concept? I'm no MS Windows expert).
    What I did though was install the Norwegian browser Opera and that crashed as well when starting certain applets. However, Opera died and triggered the MS VC6 debugger, so that I could get a "stack trace". The last 10 function calls were indeed from the JVM! The stack looked like this: 3 kernel calls (USER32), 16 Opera calls, 10 JVM calls and BOOM!
    Unfortunately I can't read assembler, so I couldn't backstep in order to find the core of the problem. However, when I uninstalled the SUN JRE and JDK the applets that previously would make all browsers crash now worked great.
    The reference page I've been using to reproduce the problem has been by accessing http://www.hushmail.com (will redirect to https) -> Sign up for FREE -> <entered a user id> -> Continue.
    Try if doing this will reproduce the problem for you.
    It would also be interesting to hear if someone at SUN can reproduce the problem, or if we have any assembler hackers / Microsoft specialists here on the forum who might have a clue as to what is causing the problem.

  • Message-driven bean CMT can not be supported

    Hi,
    Im trying to use IBM MQSeries 5.3 with S1AS7. The AS and MQ run under W2K SP3. At first I had no problem with deploying and running samples. I used C:\Sun\AppServer7\samples\ejb\mdb\simple\

    If I use internal AS JMS I dont have any trouble. Everything works fine.
    Why it is possible to use MDB CMT with internal AS JMS provider?
    What should I do to create MDB CMT with IBM MQSeries?
    Alexei Gladkov

    Hi Alexei,
    Sun ONE Application Server 7 does not support CMT MDBs with 3rd party JMS providers. (As you note, BMT MDBs work with MQSeries and Sun ONE App Server).
    With the advent of the next J2EE CA spec version (1.5) and J2EE 1.4, a standard means of hooking JMS providers into app servers and MDBs will be made available. Shortly after J2EE 1.4 is released, you'll see this support in Sun ONE App Server.
    From the J2EE 1.4 spec: "The Connector API now supports integration with asynchronous messaging systems, including the ability to plug in JMS providers."
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Anyone successfully set up connection pool in s1as with ms sql server 2000?

    As subject. Since I have seen a lot of posts about the NoSuchMethodException issue with various dbms providers, and the only "official information" I found thru different forums, google, different sun/javasoft sites and forums are this:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/retrieve.pl?doc=fsunone%2F8172&zone_32=NoSuchMethodException&wholewords=on
    Which is wonderfully vague and provide not-so-much useful information...
    As for the information and suggestion posted by other forum members, most or all of them have experience with setting up Oracle, DB2, mySQL, etc., not aimed for MS SQL Server 2000 (you may think, I am just asking for it running MS SQL server with Java... oh well, not my choice)
    I still haven't seen any positive feedbacks on how this exception was caused and how to resolve it. I have literally exhausted all leads on how to fix this issue, so right now I'm only interested to know whether anyone in the forum actually have a successful connection pool set up with MS SQL server 2000.
    My platform:
    w2k sp3
    SunOne app server, update1, JDK 1.4.1
    latest MS SQL 2000 JDBC driver
    This fails with the NoSuchMethodException error:
    try {
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) ic.lookup("test_db");
    con = ds.getConnection();
    System.out.println( "con is created -> " + con );
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println( "failed -> " + ex.getMessage() );
    This works just fine:
    try {
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1433;DatabaseName=testdb;SelectMethod=cursor", "username", "password");
    System.out.println( "con is created -> " + con );
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println( "failed is fucked -> " + ex.getMessage() );

  • Enable user in AD after creating in LDAP

    I have config a meta-dir to sync user between AD and external LDAP, but when I create a user in LDAP, the entry in AD is not activated. I have to manually activete it in AD. Is there a way to automatic enable the entry through meta-dir ?
    Wilson.

    Hi,
    best will be, you take the "Run .Net Activity" and put your PowerShell Script in there.
    Example Script
    new-aduser $LoginName -GivenName $FirstNameField -Surname $LastnameField -DisplayName $Displayname -UserPrincipalName "$[email protected]" -ChangePasswordAtLogon $true -AccountPassword (ConvertTo-SecureString –AsPlainText “password1password_1” -Force) -Path "OU=$OU,OU=User,OU=Company,DC=domain,DC=com" -Company $Company -Department $Department -enabled $true -EmployeeNumber $EmployeeNumber -Description $EmployeeNumber -EmailAddress $SMTPAdresse -Division $Division

  • Db link not appended to table name

    Hi
    I have no DB link appended to table name in generated
    code when I try to deploy mapping.
    i'm using ODBC source. Object metadata imported
    succefully and valid DB link created.
    the code i get is like this:
    CURSOR "managers_c" IS
    SELECT
    "managers_CONN1"."key_mn" "key_mn",
    "managers_CONN1"."name_mn" "name_mn",
    ROWNUM "ROWNUM_ALIAS$$$"
    FROM "tst"."managers" "managers_CONN1" ;
    I'm using OWB 9.0.4 and Oracle 9iR2 9.2.0.3 on W2K sp3
    thanks

    I would also be interested in the correct way to do this. I think I came up with a work-around, but either there is another way to do this, or there is a bug here.
    Work-around:
    This assumes you've already setup a HS ODBC datasource (Listener, TNSNames, ODBC driver, and config file.)
    Now....when registering your HS ODBC source module in OWB, put in the correct information to make the database link "correct". For instance, the hostname/port should be configured to point to the Oracle instance where the HS ODBC source was setup and the service name should be the name already setup in your TNSNames.ora file for the HS ODBC source.
    When you deploy your target module, this will create a correct DB Link and store it in the target schema you deployed to.
    At this point however, your generated PL/SQL mapping code will not be correct, because the dbLink name is not appended to your sql statements.
    Now, go back and change your source module registration. Change the hostname to be the server name of the actual source database. Change the schema name also to be the schema in the source database. For instance in sql server you might put "dbo" as the schema. I don't think the other input fields matter that much for this workaround.
    Now that you've changed the registration, re-deploy your mapping (but don't re-deploy the "connection" which has your changed registration info.) Now that your registration has a different hostname, the code generator will realize it needs to append the dbLink name to the sql statements. Likewise it appends the schema name ("dbo") to the front since the source and target are in different schemas.
    Your deployment should succeed and be executable. Like I said, this worked for me, but it doesn't seem the correct way to do it. If anyone has the right answer, please advise.

    Dave

    Thanks.

    Sorry, forgot to mention : both are running on separate boxers running W2K
    sp3.
    I will however see if i can change any of the vm parameters like jit
    j.

    Well, I guess you are running on AIX 4.3.3. First make sure PTF 9 is onthe OS.

    Next, check with IBM for updates to that JDK. I believe they have an SP2.
    Finally, turn off jit. Then see how the system behaves.

  • NetBeans IDE / J2SE COBUNDLE doesn't install

    Ive been trying to install the NetBeans IDE v 3.5.1 with J2SE v 1.4.2 COBUNDLE on Windows platform, but keep running in the following issue:

    The setup continue after this, extracting some files and a stage Creating uninstaller (progress indicator at 1%, directory size 45.7 MB) at then stay there indefinitely. Trying to close the installer reports The current operation cannot be cancelled.
    Before stating the obvious, I have downloaded it 4 times already to rule out corrupt download. I have attempted installation twice on W2K SP4 PCs, once on a W2K SP3 PC and twice on Windows XP SP1 PCs. One of the W2K PCs were a fresh install with only the OS and SPs on it.
    Downloading the separate products and installing them works fine.
    Can anyone confirm if they successfully installed this product?

    I did.

    This is what I achived using the <metainf> tags from
    war task in build.xml. Look at the first code
    listing. The
    magic code is:
    <metainf dir="${meta.dir}">
    <include name="context.xml"/>
    </metainf>where ${meta.dir} is defined as ./meta and there
    resides
    the context.xml file (look at the project layout).Very good, thanks.
    Any guesses why Tomcat is not loading mysql jar from
    WEB-INF/lib directory?No. 8(
    My understanding is that JARs in the WEB-INF/lib are visible only to your web app. Those in /common/lib are visible to all apps and the container. Those in /server/lib are visible only to the container and no apps. It SHOULD work from WEB-INF/lib. I've done it that way, but it was an older version of Tomcat.
    Checked the Tomcat docs. They say to put it in /common/lib, but they don't explicitly forbid it in WEB-INF/lib.
    I'll try a simpler example.
