Method to build a logo splash screen at the start of the DVD

We are attempting to place a logo splash screen on a DVD. We want the logo screen to be viewed at the beginning, when the disc is first inserted into the DVD player. We want the logo to be seen only one time before the main menu appears, and not seen again while the user navigates around the DVD. Right now our logo screen comes up at the beginning followed by the DVD’s main menu. That’s the first part of what we are trying to accomplish. However, when the “DVD Menu” button on the remote is selected, the disc goes all the way back to the logo splash screen. The viewer has to sit through the logo presentation again before moving on to the main menu. What we want is for the main menu to appear when the menu button is selected on the remote, and not the logo screen. I could not find the answer in the manual. I’m not sure what this process (or menu) with the logo is called for an index search. Commercial movies on DVD have this function. Any ideas?

hey Ralph, also make very sure your connections tab's disc "menu" option is NOT set as the splash scrren.
so what you have to do to see it is:
click on your connections tab. then click on any grey area in your connections window.
then the discs connections will appear on the conection tab.
the 'title menu" connection should be visible, if that says "splash scrren (or whatever you named the splash scrren" change it to "main menu 1" and that should do it.
also, amke sure you follow the above instructions as well!
hope that helps

  • Re: Viewer Builder Icon and Splash Screen

    I entered all the icons and splash screens in the Viewer Builder.  Top of screen says "all icons and splash screen images for ipad SD are complete".  However, when I hit the NEXT button, nothing happens.  I did not enter an optional Fonts Zip for HTML file.  Is this why I cannot move on to Provisioning?

    For this reason and for comfort, I made a photoshop template where you can
    put in your illustrator, that generates all icons at once.

  • Launching Splash Screen on the click of a button

    Situation: I have an application running, and when the user clicks a button on the main menu, a new dialog opens.
    Problem: This dialog takes awhile to load as it is retreiving information from the database etc ... hence I would like to launch a splash screen in one thread and the other dialog in a second thread.
    Following is the Splash Screen class:
    public class SplashScreen extends JWindow {
        public SplashScreen(int d) {
            duration = d;
            this.launchSplash();
        public void launchSplash() {
            JPanel content = (JPanel) getContentPane();
            content.setBackground(Color.white);
            // Set the window's bounds, centering the window
            int width = 350;
            int height = 255;
            Dimension screen = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
            int x = (screen.width - width) / 2;
            int y = (screen.height - height) / 2;
            setBounds(x, y, width, height);
            // Build the splash screen
            JLabel label = new JLabel();
            label.setIcon(new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("loading.gif")) );
            label.setHorizontalAlignment(JLabel.CENTER);
            content.add(label, BorderLayout.CENTER);
            // Display it
            this.setVisible(true);
            // Wait a little while, maybe while loading resources
            try {
                Thread.sleep(duration);
            } catch (Exception e) {
            this.setVisible(false);
    //        System.exit(0);
    //    public static void main(String[] args) {
    //        // Throw a nice little title page up on the screen first
    //        SplashScreen splash = new SplashScreen(10000);
    //        // Normally, we'd call splash.launchSplash() and get on
    //        // with the program. But, since this is only a test...
    //        System.exit(0);
    //    }When I run this as a standalone, it works fine (i.e. uncomment the 'main' function). But when I try to call it from another function, it doesn't launch.
    Eg: I am calling it when a button has been clicked. Code is as follows:
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
         SplashScreen sd = new SplashScreen(10000);
         // Calling the dialog (that takes a long time to load) here
    }Would like to know whether
    [1] is it possible to launch a splash screen on the click of a button? As usually a splash screen is done at the beginning of an application before anything is loaded. In my case an application is already running, during which a splash screen needs to be launched.
    [2] Would using the new splashscreen class of Java 6.0 support this?
    [3] If not what is the best way to approach this problem
    Appreciate any input.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Michael_Dunn, I see what you mean.
    I know this is not exactly as you suggested, but when I tried the following I got a partial solution. Just wanted to know whether I am on the right track.
    I wrote a small class for the thread
    public class cSplashScreenThread extends Thread {
        public volatile boolean finished = false;
        public cSplashScreenThread(){
    // override run() method in interface
        public void run() {
           SplashScreen sd = new SplashScreen(10000);
        }This calls the SplashScreen(code encl in earlier post).
    In the main application I added the following
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    // SPLASH SCREEN
    //                    SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
    //                        public void run() {
                                cSplashScreenThread sd = new cSplashScreenThread();
                                sd.start();
                                sd.finished = true;
    // DIALOG
                        SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                            public void run() {
                          DialogToCall tempDialolog = new DialogToCall(.......);
                                tempDialolog .setVisible(true);
    :When I run this in the application, the SplashScreen does indeed appear(earlier I wasn't able to see the splashScreen), and I notice (when I put a breakpoint at the pt where it calls the dialog), that it is going and creating the dialog etc, but the dialog never appears ...... after the splash screen closes, nothing else happens!
    Could you please guide me on what best to do?
    Thanks,

  • ADD Splash Screen to the SAP B1 DE  Simple Installer.

    can i add a Splash Screen to the SAP B1 DE Simple Installer ?
    if yes how to do it.
    when i deploy my addons i want the installer to accept an installation serial & install the addons only if the serial key entered in valid.
    has someone done this thing before or can someone help me in doing this.
    thanks in advance
    Ketan Joshi

    Hi Ketan,
    You can add as many screens as you like in the simple installer. You only need to open the generated project and add you screen as the other steps already there. To desing your screen you only have to manage with .NET windows design.

  • N95 DEAD NOKIA LOGO ON SCREEN ALL THE TIME

    TRIED TO up date MY N95 FROM V12 TO LATEST. hard PHONE IN GENERAL PROFILE.. PHONE WENT OFF ON IT OWN @10%.. JUST LEFT WITH NOKIA LOGO ON SCREEN ALL THE TIME I WHEN PUT IT BACK ON?

    Phones switch on and off during the update, this is normal.
    Depending how far it got before stopping, you might be able to recover it: switch off, hold the green call key, asterisk key and 3 key down with the fingers of one hand, and use the other hand to switch the phone on - keep the three keys pressed untul the Nokia handshake is finished.
    If you are lucky, this will reformat the phone and restart it. Otherwise, you have to got to Nokia service point - if you still have warranty, problems caused by NSU can be fixed free.

    Hello Dana,
    Please report back what does & doesn't work...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

  • My iPod Touch shows the Apple logo splash screen and then turns off.

    When I turn my iPod Touch on, the Apple logo is shown and then it turns off. After a few seconds, it shows up again. It continues to do this non-stop. Is there anything I can do? Any help would be greatly Appriciated

    Let the battery fully drain. It may take awhile. After charging for at least an hour. If the iPod does not cycle on and off any more try:
    iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    Otherwise it appears you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Useful Code of the Day:  Splash Screen & Busy Application

    So you are making an Swing application. So what are two common things to do in it?
    1) Display a splash screen.
    2) Block user input when busy.
    Enter AppFrame! It's a JFrame subclass which has a glass pane overlay option to block input (setBusy()). While "busy", it displays the system wait cursor.
    It also supports display of a splash screen. There's a default splash screen if you don't provide a component to be the splash screen, and an initializer runner which takes a Runnable object. The Runnable object can then modify the splash screen component, for example to update a progress bar or text. See the main method for example usage.
    It also has a method to center a component on another component (useful for dialogs) or center the component on the screen.
    NOTE on setBusy: I do recall issues with the setBusy option to block input. I recall it having a problem on some Unix systems, but I can't remember the details offhand (sorry).

  • Extended Splash Screen Layout Issue

    I'm not sure, actually, whether this is an issue with extended splash screens or the Canvas element, but...
    I've built a minimal extended splash screen that displays the SplashScreen image, a progress bar and a button. The ProgressBar and Button are wrapped in a StackPanel.
    The PositionImage() method is working fine with screen resize--the logo always displays in the center of the screen. The problem that I have is positioning the other elements.
    I'd like them to display just a bit below the SplashScreen image. Following the MS code sample, I can create two rows in the layout Grid and set a fixed size on the row containing the StackPanel, but that always displays those items the specified row size
    from the bottom of the page. Way too low in portrait view.
    I tried setting the first row (containing the Canvas) to "Auto", but that causes the StackPanel in the second row to display at the top of the screen. (Does Canvas not report its size?) I tried replacing the layout grid with a stackpanel, with
    even worse results. Specifying height values for the Canvas doesn't work, either.
    Any other ideas out there?
    Rebecca M. Riordan

    I absolutely position my other elements based on the location of the logo and the size of the logo and elements.  I don't use any stackpanels or grids at all. I just use Canvas.LeftProperty and Canvas.RightProperty.
    void PositionImage()
    this.MySplashImage.SetValue(Canvas.LeftProperty, MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Left);
    this.MySplashImage.SetValue(Canvas.TopProperty, MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Top);
    this.MySplashImage.Height = MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Height;
    this.MySplashImage.Width = MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Width;
    this.MyProgressRing.Height = MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Height / 6;
    this.MyProgressRing.Width = MyProgressRing.Height;
    this.MyProgressRing.SetValue(Canvas.LeftProperty, MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Left + (MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Width / 2));
    this.MyProgressRing.SetValue(Canvas.TopProperty, MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Top + MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Height - (.26 * MySplashScreen.ImageLocation.Height));

  • J2ME splash screen using alerts

    Hi everyone,
    I have used alerts before with no problem, but I am having probelms using them to create a welcome splash screen. The code I have used is below:
    private void showSplashScreen(Display d)
         Image logo = null;
         try
         logo = Image.createImage("/images/logo.png");
         catch( IOException e )
                   System.out.println(e);
         Alert splash = new Alert( "Advanced Predictive Text", "David Fowler", logo, null);
         splash.setTimeout(3000);
         d.setCurrent(splash, tb); // tb is a global variable
         System.out.println("Displayed splash screen");
    The method is called on startup. The toolkit displays "Displayed splash screen", but nothing is shown on the emulator. If it's running the code why isn't the alert appearing? The textbox (tb) appears no probs!
    Three days prior to my final year demo...please help!!!
    Many thanks in advance,
    David Fowler

    try this...
    private void showSplashScreen()
         Image logo = null;
         try
              logo = Image.createImage("/images/logo.png");
         catch( IOException e )
              System.out.println(e);
         Alert splash = new Alert("Advanced Predictive Text", "David Fowler", logo, null);
         splash.setTimeout(3000);
         Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(splash);
         System.out.println("Displayed splash screen");
    }

  • Hp Pavilion P6724IT Stuck at HP Splash screen after install of new VGA

    Hello people.
    I buyed a new VGA, a Gigabyte GT740 2GB DDR5, before that i had an Asus GT630 2GB DDR3 and had no problems with it.
    After mounting the new VGA i noticed the computer remains stuck at the initial splash screen with the HP logo.
    Can't even get in to the bios, but if i remove the card and use it's igpu it's all ok.
    I tried to update the bios to the latest version on the HP site (v.7.15) and nothing.
    Tried to install with Windows 8.1, and with windows 7, nothing.
    I tried all things i found on the net of people with the same issue, nothing again.
    If i am fast enough and i press some keys it gets black screen and remains stuck anyway, do some beeps and then go in some kind of standby and if i keep pressed any key it does some cracklin noise.
    Actually i can't afford a new motherboard so i wanted to find out with your help if i can find a solution to the problem, cause it's really frustrating and i spent many time trying to figure it out.
    Sorry for my bad english!
    Hope someone can help me
    Cheers
