Microphone Probl

Hello,
I am currently experiencing a very odd problem with my microphone. I was using a Realtek 97 onboard audio for a couple of months and my microphone reception was crystal clear and perfect when using Team Speak, Ventrillo, Skype or any other program.
Then I purchased the Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme Audio card, installed it, updated the drivers, ran diagnostic tests and now people can only hear me on my mic if I put it inside my mouth and scream into it.
Why did the sensitivity change suddenly? With my old soundcard I could put the mic on the other side of the room and people could hear my clearly and now with the X-fi card I can only be heard if I go hoarse screaming. I used the +20 boost on the settings, then I turned my outbound all the way up in both programs, I opened the sound control panel and turned the mic up all the way there too, and people still say I'm shispering to them when I'm yelling.
I'm so very close to returning this soundcard and getting another one, which is sad because I've only ever used Soundblaster products in the past and have never had problems before.
If you know what I'm doing wrong, or if it's a common malfunction with this particular card, then please let me know.
Thank you,
H0urgass

What does the LED display do in either the console or audio set up in msn, skype etc.
Go into Audio creation tick the Enable Monitor and put the dot in Recording. Talk into mic and see if the LED levels go yellow/red. If not then try a different mic.

  • X-Fi Fatality Microphone Probl

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion(DR release 2.9.7)and am having problems with mic not working. Most of the time(99.9%), the mic will NOT work at all and when it does it crackles, pops, and sounds like a muffled p.o.s. as it cuts in and out. I have the flexijack set correctly for mic. All my drivers and bios are up to date, yet this problem persists. Mic 2 seems to be working ok, however, the software I am trying to use the microphone with(BF2 & MS FS X) only recognize mic/line . Anyone have any ideas on a fix for this, or if there is one in the works? I've read about some IRQ problems with nForce and X-Fi, any truth to this? If so, why do the IRQ problems afflict only mic and not mic 2? Also, digital I/O seems to work fine when its hooked up to speakers. My onboard audio is disabled. Right now it looks like i bought a $200 turd and I'm very angry. This is the 3rd creative card I've bought and at this point it will also be my last. This is completely unacceptable.

  • XFi Elite and Microphone Probl

Hi All,?I am using a headset and microphone for gaming but i am having real problems getting the microphone working!I have followed the guides on this site with no luck. I have my mic plugged in to the Line in 2/Mic in 2 socket and the dial turned fully anticlockwise as per the instructions.Everything in control panel is set to match. When i fire up the creative console i dont see any input either even though it all seems set correctly. Now the big problem of course is when i use skype i no one can hear me. I have tried simply recording my voice from the mic but no luck there either.Any suggestions would be very welcome!!?Thanks!Selkie2006

The Mic2/Line2 input is for dynamic microphones -- I'm?using a RadioShack 33-3043 (600 Ohm Dyn) in it w/o problems. If the headset has a elec. mic, you'll have to use the regular mic in on the back of the card.

  • MacBook Pro and external microphone

We bought a MacBook Pro 15" Retina a couple of weeks ago. We wanted to use it the same way as our current PC laptop: hook up an external camera via BlackMagic Shuttle Express Thunderbolt (through the Thunderbolt port), hook up an external Sennheiser Freeport wireless microphone (through the 3.5mm combination headphone/microphone jack), and hook up a set of regular headphones (through the USB port).
The idea is to videotape an event, getting good quality audio from the presenter via the wireless microphone (our space has big limitations in terms of using wired devices), and monitoring the audio through the headphones. This is a scenario and a set up where several PC units have worked perfectly well in the past.
However, after spending over $2,000 on the MacBook Pro, we found out that the 3.5mm combination port will not take input from any of the microphones we have. This YouTube video explains exactly our situation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaiYc9Cqpis   (we did not create the video, but the video shows this is a common issue). On the video they explain the plug of a regular microphone has 3 rings or pins, while the plug needed for the 3.5mm combination has four rings or pins.
We spent about 45 minutes with Apple customer support, including a senior advisor, and we were told that as the Apple headphone/mic combination, the one you use with an iPhone (seen on the video above), works in the combination jack, both as a microphone and as a headphone, then there's no issue. Apple does not have any recommendation, solution, or adapter for using a regular 3.5mm microphone with the 3.5mm combination jack, so that an external microphone can be easily used. The senior advisor also suggested a USB microphone instead, but that means a) having a wired microphone, which is not possible in our space, b) buying more equipment, when we already have our equipment, and c) adapting all our setup to the MacBook Pro, instead of the machine being easily integrated into our existing setup (more likely, we will ship the MacBook Pro back instead).
A few discussions on the web (for example, https://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110505020946AA8izSV ) mention that this specific laptop expects a "line level" microphone signal, one that would come from a pre-amplifier, so that regular microphones would not be detected. The Apple senior advisor was not familiar with that claim, nor could he shed any light on it.
So our question is: has anyone successfully used an external 3.5mm microphone with the 3.5mm combination port on the MacBook Pro Retina 15"? If so, what kind of microphone did you use? Or, did you have to use any kind of adaptor or amplifier to make it work?
Thank you for any pointers you can give us.

We tried a number of 3.5mm splitters (to get separate headphone and microphone connections from the combo mic/headphone jack), and USB to 3.5mm converters (to get separate 3.5mm headphone and microphone connections from the USB port), but none of them worked.
The only solution we found to connect a microphone to a MacBook pro were the Shure XLR to USB convertor (http://www.shure.com/americas/products/accessories/microphones/microphone-proble m-solvers/x2u-xlr-to-usb-signal-adapter) and the Blue Icicle XLR to USB convertor (http://bluemic.com/icicle/). The Icicle is the cheaper back up for the more expensive Shure.
Both were recognized by the laptop, and both audio signals were detected properly. We are using them to capture voice only, so we don't know how they would fare when music and musical instruments are involved.

  • Lenovo B590 integrated microphone issue

    Hi,
When I use the integrated microphone, I can barely hear myself. It has always worked like that and I don't know if there's a problem. I uninstalled and installed the drivers, I amplified +20 dB and the output is very low. When I'm trying out different things, if I try to configure speech recognition and read the sentence I can see how the bar oscillates like it recognizes some sound, but the result is too low and it tells me that it couldn't hear a thing.
My OS is Windows 8 and I have Realtek High Definition Audio drivers. I tried different software (the videocamera app in Windows 8, standard Windows voice recorder, etc.), same results.
    Thank you!

  • Microphone not working anymore, after 3/4 year of no probl

I got an xfi elite pro and vista 32bit and after an hard time to get the microphone to work 3/4 year ago, i used it with barely any problem.
However 2 days ago, i wanted to join a meeting on teamspeak for a certain game and my microphone didnt work.
    Things i did:
Use other microphones first, to see if the microphone was stuck. It wasnt, other microphones had same problem and the sennheiser does work with no problem on my xp pc.
    I checked all volume input/output?options:
    -windows
    -creative audio console
    -tried the different modes etc.
Nothing muted, nothing on low volume, changed some, changed them back, but....
Nothing worked, only a lot of noise coming from the mic.
    Updated driver, didnt work.
Removed everything, removed card, plugged it back in, install new software and drivers, no go, microphone still not working.
I dont know what to do anymore, i spent 2 full evenings working on it and I am pretty good with computers and yet cant solve it.
Anyone has a solution for this, because on this moment after spending 2 full evenings, i am basically posting here with my last hope and otherwise tomorrow I will buy a non-creative card and use that for my vista pc.
I need the mic to communicate with some people, that li've across the ocean, so cant miss it too long.
I already searched on forum here, but to be honest, there is ZERO good information how to fix it. I was totally supprised by how many posts there were about the topic, but none with a fix
I didnt expect that from creative to be honest, but well, maybe one of them can finally come up with a good solution and otherwise its bye bye creative for me.
Message Edited by nervi on 06-27-2008 09:59 AM

    Yikes none having any clue
Will try to reinstall my pc in next 2 weeks then, if i can make some time free to make the correct backups and everything, but if that doesnt fix it, then i guess i got no other choise, then to get another branch card.
Already had to use someone s pc to join some TS meeting with some friends across the ocean, not funny.
Doesnt matter what I, i keep getting a very heavy rumbling noise from the mic, if i use what you hear as input, i have to turn it off FAST otherwise the sound volume goes crazy.
I tried with onboard completely off, but also with onboard completely on, but then I still get the rumbling noise ,even when the mic is in the onboard jack of the onboard soundcard.
Somehow it seems the jacks are all mixed up or the volume totally screwed by some unknown setting.
TRied tons of combinations of having software installed or not or using the different drivers.
So far, still no clue if its vista or the creative card/driver.

  • 2 zs microphone setup probl

I have come to the conclusion that I have made a real mistake getting this audigy 2 zs card.
I have spent the best part of a week now trying to get the microphone to work on it. I would like to be able to use just the card without all this other rubbish that I got with it on its own.
It is impossibe tho to use this card like a normal sound card with audio out, line in, microphone in. I have searched everwhere on the internet for a solution but there is none it seems.
I just wanted the card to play r63 online and use teamspeak with it but with the mike problem I have found the only known solution to this .... put in another sound card ( my old one ) and configure the mike to be used through this card.
Its a pitty this rarther expensi've 2 zs card is not worth a tin of beans to me, I may as well have saved my money and stook with my original card

Althogh this is my very first post here I have to say it is VERY hard to keep the volume down when talking about this very subject! If you look at
    http://delltalk.us.dell.com/supportforums/search?submitted=true&type=message&q=xps+audigy+mi crophone&logic=AND&page_size=0&fuzzy=false&prefix= false&refine=false&days=-&page=2
you will find some more people with this same issue. And that's just the few people who bothered to a) look for and go to and b) register with one of these support forums - believe me, there's a lot more people out there who don't do that! I know from my own experience with our own support. Very few people even bother to report a problem because they already know company XYZ (it's the same for all large corporations selling to the mass market) won't/can't (that's the same) help.
The problem is - and it's NOT a driver installation problem (a driver problem maybe, but not with the installation) or a hardware problem - that on the Audigy 2 ZS in Dell machines(?maybe more?) (8400, XPS Gen 3&4, any of them it seems) the mic has to have option "+20db" enabled AND the mic volume set to the maximum to hear (i.e. let the computer hear through the mic) anything at all! Okay, you may say, what's the problem - you say it works? Well, it doesn't! This extreme setting is useless for all practical purposes since even the tiniest bit of sound causes huge feedback problems. I couldn't even use Skype (same with any other app, please don't blame it on the application) with headsets, even less speakers, regardless of what (volume - both mic and headset or speaker) settings I tried.
And by the way I use a Creative mic - HE-00, came with my NX Ultra webcam. I also tried a very good wireless mic I use on my Sony TRV900 (digi cam). Both work flawlessly on my notebook with the exact same ap
    ps.
Asking Dell is as useless as asking Creative. Dell sent me a replacement Audigy 2 CS. Very annoying, I can't even use it to make any money on ebay since used Audigys with no warranty are at ca. 0 Euros only... this amount doesn't compensate for not having a working mic!
I read lots of articles since 2004 in both the Creative and the Dell forums about this exact issue - NEVER a solution (only useless guesses) from anyone, least not by the two corporations responsible - Dell and Creative. Of course, you can rely on the fact that no other large IT corp. selling to the mass market is any better... but this is not very satisfying.

    Merci, cordialement
    Geoffrey, LabVIEW Associate Developer

    Hope this helps
