Microsoft Is Rushing to Fix Improperly Issued SSL Certificate

Microsoft Security Advisory 3046310
Microsoft is aware of an improperly issued SSL certificate for the domain “live.fi” that could be used in attempts to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks. It cannot be used to issue other certificates, impersonate other domains, or sign code. This issue affects all supported releases of Microsoft Windows. Microsoft is not currently aware of attacks related to this issue.
To help protect customers from potentially fraudulent use of this digital certificate, it has been revoked by the issuing CA and Microsoft is updating the Certificate Trust list (CTL) for all supported releases of Microsoft Windows to remove the trust of certificates that are causing this issue.

You appear to be complaining about how Mail executes security. Turns out there is no one standard about how security is handled by Mail. 802.11x has nothing to do with that. 802.11x is simply a wireless router protocol. If you want a feature added to any Mac OS X software go to the feedback page:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
or sign for a free Apple Developer account, and file a bug report here:
http://bugreporter.apple.com/
This is a user to user forum, and no one here can guess as to why Apple has incorporated certain features into Mail while others are not included. Please read the Terms of Use on the right more carefully. We'd have to guess Apple's programming policy to answer your questions.

    Hi,
Based on my research, An automatic updater of revoked certificates is included in supported editions of Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows RT, Windows RT 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2, and for devices running Windows Phone 8. For these
operating systems and devices, customers do not need to take any action as these systems and devices will be automatically protected.
For systems running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2008 R2 that are using the automatic updater of revoked certificates (see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2677070 for details), customers do not need to take any action
as these systems will be automatically protected.
For customers running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, or for customers who choose not to install the automatic updater of revoked certificates, Microsoft recommends that the 2917500 update be applied immediately using update management software, by checking
    for updates using the
Windows Update service. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

  • Congrats Microsoft on STILL not fixing the CPU hog...

Yup, been over a year now since  Microsoft have failed to fix the issue of their terrible version of Skype hogging CPU hogging/system freezing issue on Windiws 7 64 bit
Can I get an answer from an employee as to why this STILL hasnt been fixed?
If you buy a company and take over a product, you are meant to make it better NOT WORSE.
Microsoft have completely destroyed a once great program and they are too lazy and incompetent to fix small issues.

What CPU hog? (see attached pic version 6.21) . Try to uninstall skype click to call. Run skype as it should be, in compact mode.
Also I'd imagine having years of chat history won't help either, back it up, and clear history.
For good messure check if you have any "addons" etc that might cause the issue, usually found in tools > settings > advanced at the bottom administre accces to skype (loosly translated, its the bottom link.)
And at last do a full scan for malware etc that might also be a cause for cpu usage. Malwarebytes should suffice Malwarebytes home page.
    Hope you get this sorted.

  • HTTPS SSL Certificate Signed using Weak Hashing Algorithm

I am support one client for,  whom falls under Security  scans mandatory for new implementation of ASA 5520 device .  The client uses Nessus Scan and  the test results are attached
The Nessus scanner hit on 1 Medium vulnerabilities, Could you pls review the statement and provide work around for the same.
    Nessus Scanner reports
    Medium Severity Vulnerability
    Port : https (443/tcp)
    Issue:
SSL Certificate Signed using Weak Hashing  Algorithm
    Synopsis :
The SSL certificate has been signed using  a weak hash algorithm.
    Description :
The remote service uses an  SSL certificate that has been signed using
    a cryptographically weak hashing  algorithm - MD2, MD4, or MD5. These
signature algorithms are known to be  vulnerable to collision attacks.
In theory, a determined attacker may be  able to leverage this weakness
to generate another certificate with the same  digital signature, which
could allow him to masquerade as the affected  service.

    Hi Ramkumar,
The report is complaining that the Certificate Authority who signed the ID certificate presented by the ASA used a weak hashing algorithm. First, you need to determine who signed the certificate.
If the certificate is self-signed by the ASA, you can generate a new certificate and use SHA1 as the hashing algorithm. To do this, the ASA needs to be running a software version that is at least 8.2(4) (8.3 and 8.4 software also support SHA1).
If the certificate is signed by an external CA, you need to contact them and ask them to sign a new certificate for you using SHA instead of MD5.
The links you posted have more information on this as well. Hope that helps.
    -Mike

  • When accessing Intranet sites that use SSL Certificates issued by our internal PKI, FF for Windows give an error of "improperly formatted DER-encoded message"

When accessing Intranet sites with that have SSL Certificates issued by our internal PKI, FF for Windows gives an error messsage - An error occurred during a connection to myshaw. security library: improperly formatted DER-encoded message. (Error code: sec_error_bad_der)
Chrome and IE work fine. This is a new PKI using the SHA-2 signature algorithm.

    Hi Guigs2,
From the other post you link too, I can confirm that both the Root and Subordinate CA have been commissioned with the:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CertSvc\Configuration\IssuingCA\CSP\AlternateSignatureAlgorithm = 1
registry key set. As can be seen above, the Signature algorithm on an issued certificate is RSASSA-PSS. This is been Microsoft suggested deployment IF you do not wish to support either XP or Windows 2003 machine and lower. In fact, I believe the option has been around since Windows 2008, however, there were of course, a lot more XP machines back then.
The obvious answer is that we would like to maintain the updated algorithm, AND see support for it added for Firefox. I think you will see a LOT more posts like this as people deploy more 2012 PKI infrastructure supporting only Windows 7 and up. Heavens, we may well be forced to Chrome or even back to IE!!! Whilst I do not what to necessary open up other potential vulnerabilities, for the sake of testing, what do you mean by disabling mozilla:pkix?

  • Only firefox is reporting my SSL certificate as revoked. How can I fix this issue?

I have recently re-keyed and re-installed an SSL certificate on my server (https://beta.alicorsolutions.com:2087) running WHM on linux.
The SSL certificate is passing all the 3rd party SSL tests (https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=beta.alicorsolutions.com) and works perfectly fine in Chrome and IE. However, in Firefox I get an error page that says: "Peer's Certificate has been revoked. Error code: sec_error_revoked_certificate".
After doing some searching, I can see that the problem is specific to firefox and the only way everyone else seems to be fixing the problem is by turning off OCSP under Preferences > Advanced > Validation.
This of course is not an acceptable long-term solution. I need to fix this issue as quickly as possible, ay help at all would be appreciated. Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide that would assist you in solving this issue.

hello jcsarda, it's only working in chrome because its security settings are more relaxed per default (when you set chrome to check for certificate revokation in settings > advanced > HTTPS/SSL it shows the same error for me). i don't know about IE...

  • A fix for the Mozilla Firefox SSL Certificate Validation Security Weakness vulnerability? This appears to be an issue with not revalidating certificates when loading HTTPS pages from cache.

We have to close vulnerabilities for PCI & Cybertrust certification. Researching the issue, it appears to be related to certificates not being revalidated when loading HTTPS pages from cache. The bug report I found is:

    New profile, same problem.
We've already established it is not a add-ons problem but obviously there will be less add-ons in this new profile to help exclude.
Since there is two PC profiles on the PC, I tried the second profile, same problem. Used the RESET FF function on the second PC profile...same thing...even followed the instruct for uninstall &re-install...same problem.
    (3) different virus scanners, no hard core problems.

That will show you how to format a USB stick for use on both PC and Mac.
If the problem continues take it to an Apple store and have them check it out.
    >Also what s exFAT?<
    From:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT
"exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) is a Microsoft file system optimized for flash drives.[3] It is proprietary and patented."
That first site explains it at length.

  • How to fix iframe issue that displays XML values instead of formatted XML in IE11

The following sub.jsp file shows the formatted XML properly as expected when is opened directly:
    <% response.setContentType("text/xml"); %>
    <book>
    <chapter1>chapter 1</chapter1>
    <chapter2>chapter 2</chapter2>
    </book>
IE11 shows the result as below which are colored and can be collapsed or un-collapsed:
    <book><chapter1>chapter 1</chapter1><chapter2>chapter 2</chapter2></book>
But if the sub.jsp is opened in an iframe from the below main.html, it only shows the values of the XML in the iframe:
    <!DOCTYPE html>

    </head>

The iframe shows only the XML values, i.e., chapter 1 chapter 2 in IE11. This issue does not happen in IE8.
I appreciate to your if you know how to address this issue.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 Free/Busy Information Issue

We have several users that cannot see the free/busy information of another user in their Outlook 2013 calendars.  Creating a new Outlook profile for the user and repairing office solves the issue for a short period of time.  Users are running Windows
8 64 bit, Windows 7 32bit and 64bit with Office 2013.  Our Exchange server is 2010 version 14.03.0158.001.  I have included screenshots of the issue.

I have been working with Microsoft on this issue.  The patches below are suppose to fix this issue.  We are still currently testing them.

The issue with Free / Busy and OOF not getting set would take 24-36 hours to start working once the patch is applied.

  • Does IIS Reset stop/start or IIS Restart fix template issues? See photos.

I have been having major template issues over the past couple of weeks where several templates give me access denied. I have been in contact with Microsoft about the issue, but after 2 days and 5 hours on the phone, the issue still cannot be resolved.
I then tried to use old sites that had the templates and "Save Site as Template". The new template that was saved are stored in the Solutions Gallery (template is "activated").
I ran the create new site process and chose the new template that I saved.
The template looked like this last week,
Now the template looks like this today.
In between last week and this week, I did an SP2 installation to Project Server 2010/SharePoint 2010.
I also did an IIS Reset /stop and IIS reset/ start
I also went into the IIS Manager on the central administration server and clicked "Restart".
This is a very time sensitive issue, and want to know how I accidentally resolved the issue. It's very weird that any of these above would change the template, but somehow it did. I do not want to reset IIS if I do not have to. If anyone has any idea on
how this could have gotten resolved it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi TR,
Not sure if iisreset always fixes this issue.
Sorry for my misleading description, I thought that there was a possiable that some js/css files weren't loaded in the browser randomly for new site created based on the template, so I think maybe some js/css files customized
and referenced in the orginal site (or in new site) may need to be checked-in and published.
Now I think is it possible that the issue is related to js/css load sequence in browser? or is it browser compatible issue(maybe not based on iisreset)?
Or you may try add new site in trusted site in IE see if it helps.
Also check if browser F12 developer tool could provide some useful information.
    Thanks

  • Fix for issue where update KB2760758 broke multiline text properties field in custom content type

In September Microsoft Office update KB2760758 caused an issue with the multi-line field used in custom content type used in SharePoint 2010 document libraries.  KB2826026 apparently caused the same issue.
Users were not be able to save documents on the SP server (in a document library) as MS Word would prompt them with a "Required properties" error message stating: ".. correct the invalid or missing required properties".
Several sources indicated that this was supposed to be fixed in the December Office updates, but I don't see an update that affects MSO.dll where the problem originates.  Does anyone know which update fixes the issue?

I updated you on my blog post, but just to provide an update here for those searching, this issue is not fixed in the update to the MSO.DLL available in the Dec 2013 CU, and the product group currently has no ETA on a fix.
Of course, PSS should update me as soon as they do hear of an ETA from the PG.

I am having issues with 360 degree rotation, I have an iPhone 5 and ios 6.0.2. I have read alot about this issue online and I found out that my issue is software. I want to know if and when apple will fix this issue?

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.
    Discouraged....

    Hello, skifmli
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to sync your iPhone and receive an error.  I was start with restarting iTunes and your computer.  Once this is done, test the results by attempting a sync.  If the issue persists, go through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.
