Itunes in windows 7 causing computer to shut down after sync
I work at an academic library that has iPads for check out. Since switching to Windows 7, after the last iPad syncs the computer we use will sporadically shut down. It's completely unpredictable and doesn't always occur. It occurs often enough to be a problem, however. I have manually updated the card drivers and turned off automatic shut down in the windows preferences, but the problem persists. It doesn't seem to be a motherboard overheating issue as nothing else is running at the time at the computer is not exhibiting any other indications of overheating. iTunes is fully updated. The machine we're using should have no trouble handling the requirements of the sync without it being taxed. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I've tried a bunch of different things. Thought I had it solved. Thought perhaps there were too many peripherals drawing power from USB connections, and then tried eliminating idle time scans by Norton. But I tried ripping something today and after the ninth song, it shut off. Have ordered a new AC Adapter/brick. We'll see what happens with that. I will add that I've also found it shuts off occasion when just idling not using iTunes, and I just installed a strategy game to see how that ran and what do you know it shut off in the middle of it. Some kind of power/hardware issue it would seem.

Updating or installing new iTunes causes computer to shut down
I have tried several times to update my iTunes and get through to where it says it is validating install. It stops at about 70% and freezes there for 10 mins. or so and then my computer shuts down. I tried removing iTunes and QuickTime and downloading again but the same thing happened. All MS updates are installed.

Are you getting any sort of blue screen when the PC shuts down? If so what text and alphanumeric codes is it showing? (eg 0x0000007E?)
If it is showing a specific file name too (for example, ati3duag.dll) let us know what that is called too. Precise spelling please. -
ITunes causes computer to shut down
Every time I open iTunes my computer shuts down within 60 seconds. Sometimes I can turn it right back on and there isn't much of a problem but often it won't turn back on for atleast 30 minutes. I'm pretty frustrated and I need someone's help.

Thunderbolt causing computer to shut down.
I have a 2012 15" macbook pro and one 27" thunderbolt display. Intermittently while I am connected to the thunderbolt display I am forced to shut down my computer and restart. Is anyone else having this issue?

Computer keeps shutting down after installing yosemite
my laptop started randomly shutting down with an error after i installed yosemite does anyone have any suggestions?
The next time the problem happens, note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t post huge amounts. Latlely when I attempt to shut down my Hp Pavilion dv6 3230 us Laptop it goes through the normal process I believe, however, the screen shows "shutting down" but it will show the screen forever until I plug out the power supply. All of the keys and combinations of keys are inoperable including the mouse.
If I sign on to Internet Explorer after I sign out of Firefox, and then sign out of Internet Explorer the Laptop will shut down successfully.Firefox Hang at exit

Deleting widgets seems to have worked for me - specifically, I think, the Harmonic widget was the culprit. Since that never worked very well anyway, it's not even too much of a loss.

NB In my case, it didn't happen with an iPod plugged in. I did have other programs running, but usually only Mail and Safari, plus the Dashboard.

Mac shuts down after 5 minutes Help!!!!

This is an odd one...like many others before me the computer just died one day. it would not start up, no sounds, just dead. A few minutes later I tried to turn it on and it came on, but 5 minutes later, it died.
This is the strange part. I took the plug from the socket and waited a few minutes, then pluged the computer back up. It came on. But only for a few mintes and again shut off.
This time I left the plug in the socket, waited a few minutes and tried again. Nothing.
I then took the plug out waited about 30 minutes and it came back on for about 5 minutes and shut down. It only seems to come on if I let the computer sit idle with the plug out.
I have noticed that the computer does not keep time properly.
What I have done.
1. I have pressed the Cuda Button, and yes it did start up, but only for about 5 minutes.
2. I have tried to reinstall the system hardware, but the computer dies before completion.
Should I replace the battery? What else can be done?
Help!I have the same problem. I don't have good news, though. I have replaced the battery, pressed the reset button, even replaced the power supply board (not the video board -- which is the only thing I have decided I'm not willing to do). My computer usually shuts down after 5 minutes, but will sometimes stay working fine for a couple of hours. I managed to update the firmware and OS to the very latest, but still it dies. Mine will also occasionally flicker and freeze, which can be restarted by holding down the power button.
I would replace the video board, except the people trying that don't have quite the same problem (theirs don't start up at all), and there is no source I've found that would have new boards, so you would get a bad board, or the same problem eventually. Some people point to a transformer on the video board, but again the symtoms are not quite the same (they smell burt electronics or hear a hissing/crackling sound before it dies.
I have just packed mine away and I'm working on a new G5, but I sure hope the old iMac can be fixed so my kids can use it. I just didn't want you to have to go down the same road just to find nothing helped. Good luck, and if you have any new ideas, I would be glad to hear them. -

Hi, thanks for your reply. I had installed PSE8 about 2 years ago and it had worked well until today. When ir crashed the computer, I tried uninstalling PSE8 and then reinstalling the program. No luck. T he operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

Computer shuts down when syncing photos
I've been trying to sync my photos with my IPad and out of 2500, when it gets to about 125 my computer completely shuts down. I've tried it 5 times today and am ready to throw my computer outside. Anybody else have this problem?
I have the sames problem. My Samsung laptop with windows 7 shutsdown whilst transfering photos from the laptop to the New Ipad using Itunes. It seems to work if I transfer a small batch off photos, up to 11, but crashes when a larger amount is transfered. I have been unable to find a solution on the web. It is really fustrating me since one of the main reasons for getting an Ipad is to create photo albums.
Has anybody got any new ideas and does anybody know if apple is doing anything about this issue?
