Microsoft Office Test Suite

I can't seem to find the place to post this.
I have Office installed on my iMac but whenever I try to open an Office file it defaults to use the Test Version of Office. How do I uninstall the Test Version without installing the version I purchased?

You can use the uninstaller that is located in the Office folder. Look at the additional tools folder and there is an uninstaller there that should allow you to remove the test drive version.
If you have never opened the test drive version you can just drag it to the trash and empty it and be done with it. That is how I got rid of the Test Drive on my new Mac.

  • Microsoft office test drive expired new PowerBook, help

hi. I don't know where else to ask this question. I have had my PowerBook for about 6 hours and I am already frustrated ... I tired to use the Microsoft Office Test Drive that is on the machine only to have it tell me that my 30 day trial has expired. How can it be expired when the PowerBook has only been used for less than 6 hours and Office for the install only? Any suggestions on how to get this to work? Or who to complain to? To Apple? It is almost impossible to complain to Microsoft or to get an answer from them.
I have purchased a copy of Microsoft Office but it hasn't shown up yet.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Microsoft office test drive - Expired??

Hi there. I bought an emac about 2 months ago, and it had 'microsoft office 2004 for mac test drive' which is supposed to be a 30 day free test drive. But as soon as i tried to open it it said it had expired!
I rang up the store and the lady said to drag it to the trash, then re-install it by using my grey 'Mac OS X install Disc'
But when i use the disk and go to 'Optional Installs' i get to the 'custom install' page and there is no 'microsoft office test drive' to tick. under applications it only has iLife, iTunes and about 6 others.
Anyone out there who could help me?

You can download MS Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive from the MS website, also. Here is the link:

  • Microsoft office test drive

Microsoft Office Test Drive came with my new iMac. I already have Microsoft Office and it was copied over when my files were transfered to my new computer. I would automatically be taken to Test Drive whenever I opened a document I had already created. This became a problem when the Test Drive period was over and it asked me to purchase a registered copy.
My only option was to open my already registered copy of word, excel, etc. and open the file I wanted. This is workable solution, but not I am not enthused.
I have removed Test Drive and now when I try to open a document U get an error message saying "The operation cannot be completed. An unexpected error occured (error code -10660)."
So the computer is obviously trying to locate the Test Drive version that is no longer there. How can I make my registered version the default? I tried searching the message board, but I only found people who were having problems uninstalling Test Drive.

The Office Test Drive version should be removed from the hard drive before installing the full version. The following was copied from Microsoft's Mactopia website:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.aspx?pid=office2004td
Note: You should remove the Test Drive version of Office 2004 before installing the complete version.
I'm afraid you need to remove Office 2004 and re-install it.

  • Apple screwup on Microsoft Office test drive

I got my mac all setup and transfered my files from my old pc I need to save for work and home information. Tried to start Microsoft Office test drive to convert some things to text to save in mac and the program informs me my version has expired,,,,, it seems in was installed on the HD in October way before I ordered the imac on November 28 lol. Anyone else with this problem? I plan on ******** just a little about it.
mmmm not to bright ,, rather stupid actually lol
I still love my imac tho,, it is a beautiful awsome little bundle of joy

It doesn't make sense to me that you would have a
problem like this. I have bought 2 iMacs this year.
One of them was about 7 weeks old when I got it and
my installation of the test drive worked just fine.
Bought a 3 month old e Mac last year and used the
test drive for 30 days while awaiting delivery of my
    full version of Office.
It has nothing to do with the date the software was
installed but from the date it was first opened.
Wierd problem. Did you buy this Mac new?
yes brand new, from the apple store online at apple.com,, I talked to some guy on the apple help chat thing and he said my machine was manufactured on 10/22/05 I ordered it 11/28/05. Anyway I did trash it lastnight and am going to try and reinstall it it. The tech suggested it then he said he didnt think it would work lol. I also downloaded the program suggested and it works well also.. so either way Im covered now.

You need to remove the Test Drive (which may have been copied over) before installing the full version.
Make sure you are logged on as an administrator.
Quit any Microsoft Office programs that are running.
In the Finder, click Applications, double-click the Microsoft Office 2004 folder, and then double-click the Remove Test Drive icon.
    Click Remove.

  • Microsoft Office test demo nightmare

Help!!! I bought 2 new Macs, trashed my test demos of MS Office and installed my older version. Now I can't use my version because I keep getting messages that I have too many versions of MS Office on my computers. I am unable to "remove office" like all the instructions and discussions advise, because it's been trashed. Can anybdy advise what I can do? I've been searching for weeks, and nobody addresses this.
    eMac PowerMac6,4 and iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

This forum is for discussing the software that runs the Discussions. However I have a couple of suggestions. First, have you tried the Microsoft Discussions?
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups
You might try re-installing the Test Demo of MS office and then use the "Remove Office" command, then finally install you older version.
If none of that works, as a last resort, you can try searching your hard drive for "Microsoft" "office" and any other keywords that seem appropriate. Trash any you are confident are associated with MS Office. Feel free to post back specific files if you are unsure.

  • Driven crazy by Microsoft Office Test Drive

    Another MacBok question:
I started using the M.Office Test Drive that comes on the MB. Meanwhile, I have my own MO, but it wasn't here. Now, 2 weeks later I've installed my own MO.
Now, every file reads with the Test Drive software, which is going to expire in 2 weeks! I have dragged Test Drive in the trash, but then when I try to open the files I get some error message. They will only open with the Test Drive operating! Even if I write a file using my own MO, once it's saved, it will only re-open with Test Drive.
I'm afraid to clean the Test Drive from the trash because these are important files. I fear to lose it as a back-up (even though I've only got 14 days left with it working). What if I can't ever use them without the Test Drive?
Anyone understand this and know what to do?

well I have to tell you something strange. That is, when I went to follow your instructions, I selected the document in the finder, and selected FILE, but all of the options are unhighlighted...I cannot do anything. However, when I click to OPEN anyway, the files open! Once this did not work--when I skipped the choosing of FILE on the toolbar, because of course that doesn't do anything if I have no choices there, however without that step I got the need to "convert file" issue. But when I tried it again with all the steps (the pointless selecting of FILE...) it opened. Very strange.
I'm bot sure this is 'fixed' but at least my files aren't useless. (cause once I started having problems opening, I sent them to 2 friends to see if their computers would open them, and both reported that they opened as gibberish...). I think I will just trash both installations and install my MO asfresh...
    thanks again.

    Appreciating your prompt feedback
    Thanks

    Hi,
The event log in your posting is a general error event which occurs when application stops responding. Please make sure the latest patches and service packs are installed for your Outlook 2007.
Please also restart Outlook in safe mode(Start > Run, type Outlook /safe and Enter) to check whether Outlook 2007 is still not responding or not.

  • Thanks for Microsoft Office Mobile Suite for Nokia...

It is nice. Specially the Powerpoint with animations.
    How to edit a file?
I get read only when I open any file.
Only creating a new file I can edit.
    Greetings from Paraguay.
    Claudio Bogado Pompa.

Office Mobile provides limited Word and Excel editing features compared to Office for PC. You can fully view the Documents and Workbooks created with Office on PC.
The text inside a cell can be cut/copied/pasted:
    - To do this, you need to select the text in the cell editing line (the one on top of the window).
    - Pasting works by doubletapping the cell edit area in the target cell.
Select text on the cell > douple tap text on editing line > Select cut (or copy)go to target cell, douple tap editing line and select paste.
It seems that you cannot clear an individual cell in a touch only mode, you can delete the text in cell by delete key (via editing line).
    - With E7’s keyboard you can select a cell, and then press backspace to clear that cell (via editing line).
You can delete multiple cells by “painting” them (first exit from editing mode and swipe (paint) from selected cell), then select Options and you can find Clear > Clear all, Clear formats, Clear comments and Clear contents, just like in the desktop version.
I haven't an answer for how to resize rows/columns.

  • Microsoft Office 2008 & other programs take forever to load & run

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard on my laptop, my entire Microsoft Office 2008 suite takes forever to load and to operate. It also seems to have slowed down the processor for almost all other applications, especially Safari. I have Snow Leopard on my desktop as well, and both computers are at least 2 years old but are Intel-based, and only the laptop (which is newer - 2008) seems to have consistent speed problems when loading the Microsoft software. I've uninstalled and reinstalled more than once, and it never seems to do anything. I've even used a newer version of the software with the same results. Any thoughts? I know very little about programming language, etc., I'm just a habitual user, and I use both computers every day, so the slow speed of the laptop is extremely frustrating. It doesn't matter if other programs are running or not, it's always slow to open and 9 times out of 10 slow to operate, and probably 7 times out of 10 it affects performance of other programs as well.

    Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app
I'm really sorry your having these issues. I used to always run apple's Disk Utility with past Mac OS. I'm really happy with 10.6. And one of it's big selling points at one time was that it's a leaner meaner version of Mac OS X.
Now, in using it, if it is new to you, it cannot repair the active start-up HD. But I think it can "verify" and look for issues and then let you know if you need to pursue further use of the application. To actually make repairs to your start-up HD, either boot from another HD or the Mac OS install CD. To do that, restart your machine with the CD inserted and while holding down the "C" key. It's been awhile, so I hope I have this right and am not misleading you.
It can be a tedious process. But good for you in having more than one Mac to work from.
My apologies if you have already done the above and are well beyond what I've written here. Disk Utility really gives and end user like myself away to trouble shoot a HD.
Also, inside your Apple drop down menu for "About this Mac," you can opt for "More info . . . ." This shortcut opens System Profile. While there, look for Diagnostics under Hardware. This tells you the results to the Power On Self-Test and when it was last performed. Also while there, look at your Memory. To the far right of its table for each installed memory module is Status for each. That should read "OK."
Best of luck to you! Slow machines are never fun!

  • Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010

I bought the family pack of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 and every time I try to install it on my computer it cancels and goes to this message saying "Setup has stopped working" "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will
close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I also already have word installed on my computer and every time I click the desktop icon it goes to the windows installer and prepares to install , but then it say fatal error during installation.
Can anyone help with this problem?

Open Control Panel --> Programs and Features, remove any Office program you find. If you have problem when remove these programs, you can use the Fix-it Utility in the following support artcile:

  • Importing templates & fonts from Microsoft Office into Pages

At Peggy's suggestion in the Appleworks discussion group, I saved templates and fonts from a Microsoft Office Test Drive, so I can install them into my newly acquired iWork Pages program.
Pages is now installed, but I don't know where to put the templates or fonts from Office.
Can you tell me where they'd go?
    Thanks,
    TeddyZ

    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hi, Peggy - It's TeddyZ again, but in a different forum. I think I might have completely misunderstood you. I saved all the templates from Office Test Drive (which I deleted, at your suggestion, to avoid those annoying prompts from Microsoft).
These templates reside in a folder on my desktop. They are not documents - just the templates (and their icons).
The Office Template icons are never able to be highlighted, so I can't read them, pull them up, or save them, or access them in any way. Doing a File>Open, etc. yields nothing.
I think I should have methodically made documents using each Office template - they would have then been in a Word format which Pages can read. It would have been a chore, but I think it could have worked.
Unless you or anyone else has another idea, I think I'd better settle for the templates found in Pages. I've only had Pages for a few days - it's not as flexible as I was hoping - but at least it can read Word documents, which is more than AW can do and why I purchased Pages in the first place.
    Thanks again. TeddyZ

  • Microsoft Office 2011 Compatibility Issue

I have experienced problems with Microsoft Office since upgrading to Mavericks -- specifically Word, which is the only Office application that I use regularly. Since upgrading, Word crashes when I go to open (most, although not all) existing Word files.
The "Problem Report for Microsoft Word" message I get is as follows:
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x000000001cbd6000
Notably, this problem only affects my primary workstation, which is a Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon desktop system. I don't seem to have the problem on my (2011) Macbook Pro.
I have already downloaded the Microsoft Office 2011 Suite and reinstalled it. No help. Thoughts? This is fairly annoying and at times debilitating.
    Thanks -- Keith.

Thanks Varjak. I'm willing to download and reinstall Office again, but I'm not sure what "support files" you're referencing here. Please advise.
Also, I do not use Font Book, I use Linotype Font Explorer X Pro. I regularly delete font caches and remove duplicate fonts, etc.
While you may not be experiencing any issues with Office in Mavericks on your systems, problems aren't unique to me. There are other discussions on Apple Forums. Here's one conclusion:
    Clara Bess
Re: are there any issues with Mavericks OS with Office for Mac
    Nov 24, 2013 7:48 AM (in response to shldr2thewheel)
It is a widespread issue and yes there are problems with Office 2011 but Microsoft will not address them.
I believe I have a better chance of solving the problem by querying other Apple users who work in a similar environment.
    Thanks.
