Middle Click in AS3

Hi !!! I'm looking for the way to detect the middle click with AS3.
I know there is a MouseEvent.MIDDLE_CLICK, but it's only for AIR:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/...l#MIDDLE_CLICK
Why Flash didn't put that function for Flash Player too???
How can we detect the middle click then?
In AS2 we can write something like this:
if (Key.isDown(4)) {
trace("Middle Click!");
But in AS3???
Thanks!!
Enrique.

Please I need help with this. I was searching a lot and I couldn't find anything on Internet.
In AS2 we can use the middle click, is not possible with AS3?
OK, I found this:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/1929244#1929244
Here the solution was to use JS to detect the middle click and then to pass the control to Flash (Flex in that case).
But I'm looking for a native solution. I think if it was possible in AS2 it should be possible (and even better) in AS3!
Why Adobe is so skimpy with mouse clicks? (Right Click, Double Click, and of course Middle Click, always are a problem in Flash).
And I can't understand why you can use it only in AIR!
In Silverlight you can access to middle click in this way:
You can get at the middle button by using the attached event  Mouse.MouseDown, which listens to all mouse buttons, and check for  args.ChangedButton == MouseButton.Middle.
What is the solution in AS3?

  • In firefox 3, when I middle clicked a link, it would open in a new tab for me to view later, but it wouldn't go directly to the tab; in firefox 4, it does. How do I get it to work like before?

E.g. if I was on google and middle clicked a search result, I would still be looking at google, but the page I opened would be loaded to the right side.

Google search and other websites have a user preference that can be set to open a search result in a new tab or a new window, for users who are logged in to their website.
Otherwise, when you don't have a 3-button mouse or a scroll pad with "middle-click" functionality, you can use '''{Ctrl + Click}''' to open a hyperlink in a new Tab.

  • Troubleshooting middle click quirks

    Hello All
New to the world of lenovo.   I am trying to troubleshoot an issue where the middle mouse button randomly works and am trying to figure out if it is hardware or software related.
    Some info
    Hardware: Lenovo x230
    OS: Ubuntu 12.04.2 (64bit)
    Kernel: 3.5.0-23-generic #35~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 25 17:13:26 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Desktop environment: Cinnamon 1.6.7 (also tested with Unity)
    What happens:
In terminal if I middle click I would expect it to paste, some times it could take two or more clicks
In firefox if I middle click on a link I would expect it to open in a new tab, some times it can take two or more clicks to work, frequently it will stop working after the first successful middle click
scrolling in firefox/terminal/any window with middle click and the pointer works consistently.   I also have a logitech m570 wireless mouse which behaves as expected.
Has anyone experienced similar and know how to resolve.  While I have it in the back of my mind that it's a hardware issue it does  not make sense as the pointer+click consistently works so I assume it's software

The video at the link here may help.  If the printer does not recognize the door being opened you could fool the printer as follows:  press copy and once the printer starts going through the motions of printing unplug the power.  Once things have come to rest open the printer and manually move the carriage, then change the cartridge.  Plug the printer back in and power it up, it may take a bit of time for the printer to initialize.

Firefox did an automatic update to 6.01, and now my middle mouse button is not working in the browser. It doesn't close tabs, it doesn't open new tabs by middle clicking a link, it doesn't allow me to middle click to scroll the page..

[BUG FIXED, see "EDIT 2" at the end of my post]
I'm on Firefox 3.6.21, and I got this problem today after a Greasemonkey update (To version 0.9.10, apparently).
Disabling Greasemonkey solved the problem, and re-enabling it reproduced the problem (middle-clicking links to open in new tab did not work, merely highlighted the link).
I should also note that while Greasemonkey was enabled and the bug was affecting me, Ctrl+Click to open links in new tabs was also broken.
    I hope this helps!
EDIT: It appears this is a known incompatibility/conflict bug between current versions of Greasemonkey and Tab Mix Plus. Read more here:
    https://github.com/greasemonkey/greasemonkey/issues/1406
EDIT 2: GREASEMONKEY HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED with a workaround to fix the problem. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/versions/ to install the update manually. It hasn't been reviewed by Mozilla yet, so it won't be an automatic update for another day or two. All credit to "cannonfodder" below for noticing this; please mark his post as helpful!

  • How do I middle click and close tabs in safari? please help!

I am used to google chrome and  adapted to use middle clicks to interact with tabs. My friend introduced me to safari and as i am using macbook pro I think using safari should be more compatible. The only thing that is holding me back is closing tabs with middle click on mouse. I would really appreciate if someone would point me to easy solution for that.
    Thanks,
    Rohan

    Command-W closes the active tab.

  • How do I get my hotmail to open in a new tab instead of a new window and I've tried the middle click/ctlr option.

MSN is my home page and when I click on the hotmail link in the top left hand corner of the page it always opens in a new window even if I press middle-click/ ctrl keys. The hotmail link is the only link that I have had this problem with thus far. Can you help me correct this problem?

Hotmail opens in a new window because the code or set of instructions on the MSN website tells Firefox to open Hotmail in a new window. I would suggest you right click on the Hotmail button and left click on "Open Link in New Tab". This will open a new tab in the current window.

  • How do I change Middle Click to normal Middle Click instead of the Scroll on the Helix

    Hi,
I just bought the Lenovo Helix with Windows 8.1 and I've been trying to disable this auto-scroll or touch-scroll function that comes on by default on UltraNav.
On my old X220 with Windows 7, I can just go to Mouse-> UltraNav -> Settings -> Neither on Scroll / Magnify Features.
It seems like there's no way to turn it off for the Helix. From this discussion,
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Carbon-X1-Use-middle-scroll-button-as-middle-c...
It sounds this option isn't available yet on Windows 8.
I've tried older driver: No option to disable this feature.
I've tried Synaptic driver: I can use middle click but the touchpad is ultra sensitive and I can't adjust it.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I use the middle click a lot for openning new windows and pasting on linux screens. It makes the computer usable unless I have a mouse.

On Windows 8, using the UltraNav software/driver from Lenovo, middle click always means "Scroll".  There is no way to change this.  Maybe you can find some driver directly from Synaptics (and not from Lenovo) that lets you configure the middle mouse button as something other than "Scroll", but this definitely cannot be done with the Lenovo software.  I'm sorry I can't help you further.

  • How do I get middle-click back button to open in a background tab?

When I middle-click on the back button a new tab loads with the contents of the previous page. How can I get this tab to load in the background?

Thanks, but I know about those, and none of them actually effect behaviour of tabs with the back button.

  • Why does Firefox switch focus to an immediately adjacent tab (in a series of tabs) on middle-clicking a link instead of staying on the same tab? (with setting of NOT switching to new tab).

I have usually 4 tabs open by default. If, for example, I'm in the first tab and middle-click a link to open a new tab, the tab opens but firefox focuses on the tab immediately adjacent to the tab I'm on (in this case, from tab 1 to tab 2 instead of staying on tab 1 whilst tab 5 is loading). The pattern repeats if I'm on tab x and open a new tab from tab x, but focus shifts to tab (x+1) instead of staying on tab x.
It happens more often than not, i.e. it sometimes stops but usually happens.
I have this setup for a year now and this is the first time this is happening. I believe since this latest update of 3.6.13.

This issue can be caused by an extension or plugin that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Is there a way to assign the mouse middle click

    hello all,
I have a graphics pen , and I wish to assign the middle click ( the button that is on the pen ) to switch the foregrou and background color. It is mor handy when painting. is there anyone who knows a method , generally I want to know if I can assign other buttons besides keyboard, like signals from a midi console ?

I already tried that, but the driver interface has no other posibilities than mouse left/right click and middle click (and double click) .
now I am thinking if there is a program that makes a bridge between mouse and keyboard commands. I searched, but no results so far.

  • Middle click paste no longer works correctly zsh

After a recent update my middle click to paste no longer works right. Instead or just pasting "x" it will paste "00~x01~". I tried terminator and rxvt-unicode and they do the same. This is a recent issue that just started after an update. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Edit: This seems to only happen sometimes randomly. Also, when it does my home key and end key does not take me to the beginning and end of the line.
Edit2: Seems to be related to zsh. When I switch to bash this doesn't occur. Looking into it more. (Edited title). Here's my .zshrc (removed irrelevant stuff):
Edit3: Seems to be related to this new plugin I'm using "safe-paste.plugin.zsh". Looking into it further. Does anything look wrong with this:

I don't use zsh, yet when I've used it (or any other shell) to paste text I just use [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[V] and to copy text from shell use  [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[C].
    I hope that helps!
Yeah. Pasting by clicking the middle button. It works if I do not use this plugin so I will just leave it disabled I guess until I figure this out.

  • Safari 3 Beta - Windows  - Feature Request - Middle-click open in new tab

I'm checking out the new beta... I have a quick suggestion for a feature.
One thing I've noticed is that there is no option for middle-click to open a link in a new tab. I love this option in Mozilla and IE7, please implement it in Safari!
    Thanks!

I can Middle click on any link, any bookmark an have it open in a new tab.
(in the background). Or make the new tab current. Just go to the preferences & fingle around. I can also left or middle click a tab to close it. It must be your settings. You can also rearrange tabs by dragging them. Create new windows
by dragging the tabs off the bar. Merge all windows by going to the Windows pull down menu. i cant really test if this works on a PC because i sold my last rig (PC) for pennies. another feature i like is (private browsing)
    KoolVicious
    p.s.
Bill did this to me! My PC hated Netscape, & could only play audio from one
program at a time. My PC kept driving into a wall, but i wasn't afraid i just
    got up & walked away.

  • How can I middle-click a link and have a tab open next to the parent?

Ctrl-T opens a new, blank tab at the end of my tab list, which I like. In IE 11 middle-clicking on a link in a web page opens that new progeny tab next to the parent tab, rather than at the end of the list, and groups them if you have more than one parent-and-progeny tab groups. IE 11 goes so far as to assign tab title background colors to such groups (which isn't as important to me as the functionality). Tweaking Tab Mix Plus just resulted in modifying where Ctrl-T puts a blank tab. Is there a way to make my FF parent-progeny tabs work like IE 11?

If you use Tab Mix Plus then you need to check its settings where links are opened.
The basic Firefox has these prefs to control this feature.
    *browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent
    *browser.tabs.selectOwnerOnClose
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Magic Mouse Middle Click Problem on Bootcamp Windows 7

Hi, I am using Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro via Bootcamp. My magic mouse working good but I need middle click for some design softwares. I found some softwares can simulate middle click but the softwares just running under Mac OS. Are there any Windows compatible software like Magicprefs or Middleclick?
    Thanks...

    Hello,
I have the same mouse and after searching a solution, I found this article:
    http://superuser.com/questions/814156/hp-bluetooth-mouse-works-in-osx-on-macbook -but-not-in-windows-8-1-boot-camp
You only need to unpair the Mouse from your Mac System, Reboot to Windows Boot Camp and pair the Mouse...
Now you can pair again on Mac OS and "voilà", your mouse can now work's in both Systems...
    For me, it works!

  • Middle clicking/Ctrl+clicking on links in Firefox doesn't open a new tab; it does nothing. Middle clicking my bookmarks opens them in a new tab, however.

    Middle clicking works properly otherwise.
This started happening since I upgraded to Firefox 3.6.22.

Never mind, the solution has been posted here:
