Migrating Forms with User-Info to Apex

Hi,
i am using forms with CLIENTINFO-Bean (javabean running in forms9), to save who (OS-Username, e.g. windows user), where (workstation-name and ip-address) modified records.
I wonder if its possible to get similar functionality within apex? I assume this cannot be achived with javascript - just with a java app?
any help would be appreciated. i would really like to migrate this app to apex...

If relevant you could dive into [NTLM Aiuthentication|http://jastraub.blogspot.com/2008/03/ntlm-http-authentication-and.html].
APEX is a browser app and can even run on a mobile phone, and there is no os-user on an iPhone I guess.
In a IE environment you can get the username using an ActiveX object, but a user has to accept running such an object...
You could also go for an SSO / LDAP solution so your :APP_USER = OS Login.
I'm afraid it won't get better than that....

I have installed Enterprise XIR2 onto a Windows 2003 server and all services are running.I have installed the client on another windows 2003 server and I can connect to the console via the web.
Firstly desktop intel would not work and gave me the error below, however a new entry appeared in my server dropdown with servername (.Net Portal) and after selecting this Desktop intell worked.
When I try to run designer I dont get the extra server in the dropdown nor does it connect when tryped manually and gives me the same error I was getting for desktop intel.
Im using enterprise authentication
Has anyone figured this out please?

The [repo_proxy 13] error seems to be a catch-all for BO in that I've worked with this software (XI R2) for 1 1/2 years now and each time I've encountered [repo_proxy 13] it has been for a different reason, thus, you're going to have to apply troubleshooting checks all over the place until you find the problem. In my particular case I just resolved my [repo_proxy 13] error I've been working on this week, and here was my scenario. Our server in the lab died due to a hard drive failure, so we cut our losses and installed a new & more powerful server. When the rebuild was done I could not connect from my laptop to the repository via Designer (good old [repo_proxy 13] error). After much angst, etc, etc I found out that the servers in the CMC (/businessobjects/enterprise115/admin/en/admin.cwrwere">http://<server>/businessobjects/enterprise115/admin/en/admin.cwrwere) were all down except for one (even though CCM showed all servers "up"). When I went to start the servers in the CMC I was prompted for an account, and no matter what account I tried it won't work. So I went back to the CCM servers and stopped them all, then changed the default account it was using from LocalSystem to the administrator account, restarted all servers in CCM, went back to CMC and noted that all servers were now up as well. Then I went back to my laptop and used Designer and was able to successfully log in. Thus, the end of my story, however, it seems that many [repo_proxy 13] errors have different beginning and endings. For instance, a year ago I had the same [repo_proxy 13] error and brought it to BO tech support. They determined that I had to uninstall my client from my laptop, clean out the registry for any references to BO keys, and remove the c:\program files \Business Objects folder, then reinstall, and sure enough it worked in that case, but not in this case when I tried it again. By digging deeper I found out the root cause to my current problem, and voila, I'm in!

I cannot logon to system from my client applicaitons...DeskI and Designer using 2 tier mode. However, I can logon to system using 3 tier mode.
Does anyone knows anything about this issue? I have reinstalled BOE XI R2 SP2 with FP 2.6 and reinstalled my client applications as well, but still have this issue.
Error Message: [repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(CMS host 'KTAZD429' cannot be found on the network. Please verify the name and that network name resolution is working properly.(hr=#0x80040801)

The good ol' "repo_proxy 13" error has reared its ugly head at you, huh?
In my experience "repo_proxy 13" can be caused by one of several symptoms, so it's going to be a case of try this or try that before you get it resolved. My last experience with "repo_proxy 13" was that I had a server running on a stand-alone network with no DNS, Firewall, or connection to the outside Internet (basically a lab), and when I brought other workstations/laptops in and try to connect, the "repo_proxy 13" would appear. I finally resolved this by hard-coding the IP address on all machines under the 192.168.1.xxx subnet, and voila, the problem went away. Now this may not apply in your situation, but it might. Just some thoughts, but no guarantees on resolution.

Unable to Access Data Form with Users Provisioned as 'Planner'

Hello,
I am currently experiencing an issue that I can't seem to resolve. I was hoping someone else might have some insight and/or have come across this issue.
I created two data forms. Users have been assigned permissions to the dimensions included in the data form. I have also assigned users access to the data form. The model is a single currency model.
Upon logging into the application, the user is unable to open the data form unless he/she is provisioned as an 'Administrator'. Provisioning the user as a 'Planner' or 'Interactive User' does not allow the user to open the data form. The following message appears:
*"Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form."*
My data form uses the following dimensions:
POV: ELEMENT
PAGE: SCENARIO, YEAR, VERSION, ENTITY
ROWS: ACCOUNT
COLUMNS: PERIOD
We are currently implementing Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.0. The operating system is Windows Server 2008 64-bit R2.
Any advice/suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I went ahead a created a data form that just used level 0 members and confirmed that the user had access to the members defined in the form. Still no luck.
I also checked to make sure the filters existed in Essbase. Here is what I found in Essbase:
Access: None
Member Specification: @IDES("Account"),@IDES("Scenario"),@IDES("Version"),@IDES("Entity"),@IDES("NTTA_ELEMENT")
I have no issues accessing the data through the Essbase Add-in.
I did notice some additional items in my Planning setup:
1. Task>Manage Process - Sub-Status states 'Failed' when I attempt to validate
2. Task>Manage Process - Status changes from 'Not Started' to 'Under Review' when I start the cycle.
3. Dimension Security - Users are attached to a group that has write access at the Descendent(Inclusive) level.
4. In the Account, Department, Scenario and Version dimensions I also setup the user to have write access at the member level.
As for my earlier post with the data forms, that was just my way of showing the dimensions used. I do have two data forms, 1) with top level and descendants/children and 2) with level 0 members only.
I checked the logs and there isn't really much info there. I have a case open with Oracle and a webex scheduled for tomorrow.

Best way to link user form with user table

Hi all.
What is the best way to link an user form with a user table (with all of the functions, add, update...)? I have created a simple form, and the question is next:
depending the type object of the user table (document, master...) i have facilities to imlement the basic operations in the form? if i create an UDO i have the functions but i want to use the form that i created with a screen painter.

XML form SPS13 error saving form with user field

Hello gurus!
After upgrading to SPS13 all XML Forms with imput field type 'user' produce error when saving data: incorrect user id. But I select user id from user list! ID can't be incorrect.

I am using EP 60 SPS13 Patch 3, have you installed this patch ?
You have to create a sibling node, for instance "usuario", don't forget to define it as user (data detail).
Then you add a browse object in your form, and change action property as user.
Then you establish a relation between usuario and your browse object.

Migrate forms with folders with FormDefUtil

Hi,
I'm trying to migrate forms using FormDefUtil.cmd, to an empty directory tree under my Planning application (new created application in DEV environment).
When I import all forms using "FormDefUtil import -all localhost admin planning", it puts all, or most forms under the root directory, without creating the directory tree.
Is there a way for the utility, or LCM, to pre-create the directory tree? I'd like to use the utility, because we've had issues with using parentheses () in forms names, and they aren't coming over in LCM.

As Abhishek said, create your folder structure in the target environment and import.
Also if you have duplicate named folders look at where your forms import after the fact as they seem to go to one folder or the other not the folder they were in structurally; we logged the folder issue as an SR FYI.
Good to know about parenthesis and LCM -- it also doesn't like ampersands for certain items e.g. Essbase filter names.

I created one sales order how can i get the list of all users and also list of users who have access to particular sales orders.in VBAK there is one field ERNAM- name of the person who created the Object but i want this User detains contain in a BAPI. is there any such BAPI contains the user info. thanks in advance.

In my case, trying to set my full name on my user account with
chfn -f <my name here>
gives the following:
chfn: Permission denied.
I went ahead and edited /etc/passwd, which got the job done.
I'm still curious to know why the real name / full name is not editable via chfn, though.
(I noticed this issue a long time ago, but didn't get sufficiently bothered by it until I used GNOME's Lock Screen function and discovered the Leave message dialog was saying "Leave a message for :", with nothing in place of the full name. Of course this isn't the most useful of features, but it's the principle of the thing...)

Checkbox with mouseover info in apex?

Does APEX have an library or function in javascript to show at a checkbox a mouseover?
I need an info when someone is scrolling above a checkbox element.
At the moment iam trying overlib, does anyone has experience with overlib and apex?

Without going to all the effort of using javascript, can't you just add a title="info" attribute in the checkbox HTML Form Element Attributes?

Calling report from a form with user input parameters

Hello,
I am new to Oracle reports. I have an application coded in 6i. I am currently running the application in Oracle Forms Builder 9i. There are also few reports which are called from the forms. Since the application was developed in 6i, the report was called using Run_Product. The forms pass a set of user parameters to the report using the parameter list pl_id. The syntax used was Run_Product(REPORTS, 'D:\Report\sales.rdf', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
I learnt that the Run_product doesnt work in 9i and we need to use run_report_object. I have changed the code to use run_report_object and using web.show_document () i am able to run the report from the form. There are 2 parameters that need to be passed from forms to reports. The parameters are from_date and to_date which the user will be prompted to enter on running the form. In the report, the initial values for these parametes are defined. So, the report runs fine for the initial value always. But when i try to change the user inputs for the form_date and to_date, the report output doesnt seem to take the new values, instead the old report with the initial values(defined in the report) runs again.
Can someone give me the code to pass the user defined parameters to the report from the forms? I have defined a report object in the forms node as REPTEST and defined a parameter list pl_id and added form_date and to_date to pl_id and used the following coding:

vrep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT (vrepid,pl_id);
But this doesnt work.
Also, Should the parameters defined in the forms and reports have the same name?

I had referred to the document link before and tried using the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT_PROC procedure and ENCODE functions as given in the doc and added the following SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY in the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT_PROC :

In the code - " hidden_action := hidden_action ||'&'|| v_report_other; " in the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT_PROC procedure above, how do i make sure that the v_report_other variable reflects the user input parameters FROM_DATE and TO_DATE ??? v_report_other is initialised as v_report_other VARCHAR2(4000) :=''; in the procedure. Will ensuring that the v_report_other contains the user input parameters FROM_DATE and TO_DATE ensure that my report will run fine for the input parameters?

Tabular Form with user supplied PK

I need create a tabular form. The pk will be provided by the user. SO I see that I will need to specify the PK as being a trigger populated PK.
The pk is USER_ID. The wizard created two columns for user_Id. The first(user_id) is hidden the 2nd user_id_display in read only.
What do I need to do so the user can provide the value for the PK? I assume I need to change one of these into an updateble field. WHich USER_ID?
I did that and when I enter a value for the PK(USER_ID) and select submit I get this error:

Tabular Forms in APEX do currently not support PKs that can be entered or modified by the user. The PKs are what's used to identify to rows to update. And for new rows, the PK must be NULL in order for APEX to be able to identify the row as a new row. If you need this column to be modifiable by the user, I suggest adding another column to the table as the actual, internal primary key column, have that column be populated by a trigger, and then make your current PK column a regular, editable column. If that's not possible, you will have to remove the generated multi-row update and delete processes, and implement your own PL/SQL based page process to perform the updates, inserts and delete.
While I believe PK columns should never be editable by the user, and PK values should always be system generated, I realize that not all APEX developers gets to design the underlying database design, nor are they always able to make any modifications to that design. So in APEX 4.1, we'll add the ability to use the internal ROWID for DML processes, which then will allow developers to use PK columns however they wish. Of course APEX 4.1 is still in development, and we don't have a release date yet.

Migrating form to apex....

i have migrated a form.
after migrated i gone to create application section based on migration then
i click next 'button' it show below error.
1 error has occurred
Database schema EFREIGHT does not contain the associated database objects for the project, NOT. Ensure the database schema associated with the project contains the database objects associated with the uploaded Forms Module .XML file(s).

In that form(which i have migrate) contain two blocks 'nature_of_trans' and 'button block'
i have created the above form as user 'scott'.
my table name is 'scott.nature_of_trans'
Now im working in apex as user 'EFREIGHT'
i have create table nature_of_trans in apex
and try to create application but it shows the above error again.
In my mind the 'scott' is creating that error...
pls help how to resolve this?

Does the APEX 4.0 Development Environment work fine for you? If yes, I suspect that the "Image Prefix" for the imported application is wrong.
After you have picked the application, click the "Edit Application Properties" button and check the value in "Image Prefix".
Have you installed APEX 4.0 to use a different /i/ alias to separate it from your existing installation? When you are in the APEX Builder just view the HTML code on any page (something like View Source in the Browser menu) and search for
<script src="/i/javascript/apex_4_0.js" type="text/javascript"></script>and verify what is used for /i/. The same value has to be used in your application as well.

Migrating EPMA Planning application: Failed to sync with user provisioning

Hi All,
We are migrating applications from Production to Dev. We have one EPMA Planning and one Essbase application in both environments.
We have migrated artifacts into File system in PROD(Shared services, EPMA, Planning, Essbase and Reporting). We have copied and pasted in import_export folder in DEV.
Then we are trying to migrate artifacts into applications from File system in DEV. First we did EPMA artifacts successfully in migration status report then we have deployed application into planning without any errors.(msg showing as in sync deployment). After that we did shared services, it is failed

Hi,
I got solution for this issue through Oracle Support.
I have restored database and migrated artifacts using LCM. any one method is enough to do Planning application migration (from Oracle Support)
