Migrating EPMA Planning application: Failed to sync with user provisioning

Hi All,
We are migrating applications from Production to Dev. We have one EPMA Planning and one Essbase application in both environments.
We have migrated artifacts into File system in PROD(Shared services, EPMA, Planning, Essbase and Reporting). We have copied and pasted in import_export folder in DEV.
Then we are trying to migrate artifacts into applications from File system in DEV. First we did EPMA artifacts successfully in migration status report then we have deployed application into planning without any errors.(msg showing as in sync deployment). After that we did shared services, it is failed
migration status report error msg:
+28:6571:Application <xxxxx> does not exist in target. 28:6571:Application <xxxx> does not exist in target. 28:6571:Application <xxxx> does not exist in target. 28:6571:Application <xxxxx> does not exist in target. 28:6571:Application <xxxx> does not exist in target. ...+
When i am trying to open the planning application, i am getting error: Failed to sync with user provisioning, check planning log for details

This issue is not for all users. I can login as admin and refresh my security via planning web

    Hi Amit,
i had similar issue when i migrated planning application from test to Dev.
here is the solution which I followed and resolved the issue:
    1.Login as admin account
    2.click on Administration tab.
    3. select Dimensions from menu.
    4. select any of the member.
    5. Click on Assign Access.
    6. Which takes you new window.
    7. Click on "migrate identities", once it is successful.
    8. logoff and try to login with any other user.
    hope this helps.

    Hi,
Have you updated the datasources for each of the planning applications, you will need to update the password and probably recycle planning app server.

  • Failed to sync with user provisioning

    Hi,
None of the users other than admin are able to login to planning application in SIT. I have the admin access in SIT, but still not able to log into any planning application. The error i get is "Failed to sync with user provisioning. Check Planning log for details".
What could be the reasons? Which log do i check?
    version - 11.1.1.3
    Regards,

Have you tried running the updateusers utility :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/hp_admin/ch03s12.html
this should try and sync HSS with the planning tables, it will also output any failures.

  • Failed to sync with user provisioning 9.3.3

    Hello,
I have a new twist on a common error. We have two Planning applications. We copied one from prod to dev, but during the duration of this, I had to change my password. Now I can sign onto one planning application, but not the one we refreshed, due to the "Failed to sync with user provisioning" error. I can sign onto EAS Console and Shared Services.
Can you please tell me what I have to do to resync this Planning application, and instructions on how to do this? I have access to the admin account and database tables if required. This is version 9.3.3.
    Thank you,

    Hello John,
I am logging in with my user id, which is an administrator, but not the "admin" account. I am unfamiliar with the term application owner, but I expect it is the "admin" account. We use single server sign on, so my network username and password are the Hyperion/Essbase username and password.
I think the problem is, between the time we copied the application from production and copied it to development, I changed my password.
I looked in the hsp_users table, and it does not have usernames. Is there a way to associate the user_id with a username to find out which one is mine?
I would copy the SID value from the working to the non-working one. I understand that part.
    Thank you,

  • Sync with user provisioning error

    Hi,
I am working on planning 9.3. I am facing following problems :
1)I have created a form and when I use "Assign access" option I don't see any user in the list. When I click on add access option, I am getting following error
" Sync with user provisioning succedded with Errors. See Planning log for details"
2)When I add an user in user console management and give provisioning(Application provisioning) to it , it is not giving me any error. But I am not able to sign in with the new username to the application
    Please suggest solution.
    Thanks

    Hi,
This is in response to post by tclauer..
Is this happening on all planning apps or is the problem specific to one app ?
Can you log in with the admin account ?
Can you access the following URL from the planning server :-
    http://<HSS servername>:58080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile
Does a file exist in (I am assuming you are on Tomcat)
    Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\temp
    like :- <HSS servernamer>-getCSSConfigFile-<generatednumber>-CSS.xml
There should also be a file in the same directory called :-
    SharedServices_Security_Client.log
This log might give further details to the errror

  • Failed to migrate EPMA planning application using LCM

    Hi all,
I'm working on exalytics migration for planning application(Windows->Linux,EPM 11.1.2.2).
I have successfully completed classic application migration. But for the EPMA planning application, when importing metadata,it failed with the following message:
    Error in migrating artifact, "/Application Metadata/Planning Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account".
Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported. When import EPMA planning application using LCM, it failed with: Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported
    ===========================================================================
    Reproduced Step:
@ From the source environment, creat EPMA planning application ,and login to
    Shared Services console
1- Export the Application Metadata to the file system - AppMetadata (EPM
Architect -> Application Metadata -> Planning Applications)
2- Shared Services -> Native Directory -> Assigned roles -> Application
3- Application Groups -> Application Name
    From the Destination Environment
4- Setup a datasource ready for the new application.
5- Copy the filesystem file to the following folder in destination
    environment Hyperion\Common\import_export
@ 6- Login to Hyperion Shared Services and import the filesystem AppMetadata
created earlier, it failed with error:
Error in migrating artifact, "/Application Metadata/Planning
    Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account".
Couldn't determine the column delimiter for the ads file being imported
Could you please help to take a look, and tell me if I missed any step or there is any known issue for this kind of migration?
    Thanks,
    Xinying

    Thankd for your response.
About the ads file, from log, it should be under /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/tmp/xxx/completexx.ads, but seems it was deleted, I can't find it.
    I checked file "/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/import_export/admin0/EPMA-EPM Architect/resource/Application Metadata/Planning Applications/pln1/Local Dimensions/Account", delimiter is "|".

  • LCM Migration of planning application

    Hi All
I am trying to migrate Hyperion Planning Application from one environment to another. The name of the application in both the environment is different i.e. X & Y.
I took an LCM export of application X into the file system and copied the directory generated into the system where application Y resides.
Now I am planning to import this export into application Y.
Do i need to perform some changes as the server IPs are different & name of the applications are also different
    Hyperion Planning Version 11.1.1.3
    Regards

Do i need to perform some changes as the server IPs are different & name of the applications are also differentNo. You just need to login to Shared Services (Y), select the artifacts you exported from X and execute the migration. I've always thought Ranzal had a perfect blog post on LCM. No, I don't work for them :)

    Rahul,
As John pointed out, copyapp may be available between different versions of planning but is not compatible between different versions of the software. When a copyapp command runs, it connects to shared services, planning and essbase data sources and basically performs an export and import of data. It works on the premise that structure for export is same as structure for import. However, the underlying architecture for shared services (moving away from openldap) and planning tables, essbase (security outside .sec file) has changed and there you cannot just export and import between different versions of software.

  • Metadata from epma Planning application to classic Planning application?

    Hi!
I am creating a new classic planning application, but I would like to use all the metadata from existing epma application.
I'm wondering whether it is possible to get metadata from an  existing epma planning application to a classic application? Is this possible using LCM?
Or do I just need to get an ads file from the epma planning application and then create a csv file that I would then  load into this new classic app using for example OutlineLoad utility.
    edit: version 11.1.2.2
    kind regards,
    user637777

You should be able to export the metadata from the planning application using LCM, you could also see if the outlineload utility will let you export, can't remember if it allows it even if it is EPMA enabled.
    Cheers

  • RPE-02150: Failed to connect with user... when deploying location

    Hello.
I've created cube and 3 dimentions in OWB 10.2, then derived them to make business definition for Discoverer 10.1.
When I try to deploy this business definition, I get error "RPE-02150: Failed to connect with user xxx, password ***, connection null. Disco export file 5039.eex written to directory owb/deployed_files." The error appears at deploying location step. What feature is that?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
same situation, same behaviour. I've seen, that the location for the discoverer could only be of type 10.1 database in the lov of the location form. But the database is 10.2. Perhaps that might be the problem.
Do you have any other suggestions?

  • Creation of Public Sector Planning application fails for LDAP user

The environment is on Windows 2008 R2 & EPM 11.1.2.2.302 of Planning. The creation of "general" planning applications works fine, regardless of the method of creation, Native User/LDAP User or Classic/EPMA. The creation of Public Sector Planning application using Classic Administration fails when using an LDAP user.
It works when using a Native User. It also works fine if EPMA is used, for both Native as well as LDAP users.
Our developers are not comfortable with EPMA yet, so want/need the ability to create the applications using Classic Administration.
Looking at the Planning sysout log, the only error message indicates a timeout with Calculation Manager:
Calc manager rules initialization failed. Please load and deploy the rules from Calc Manager UI
ERROR:Error while loading rules in Calc Manager. <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Weblogic Bridge Message</TITLE></HEAD> <BODY><H2>Failure of server APACHE bridge:</H2><P><hr>No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF or method not idempotent.<hr> </BODY></HTML>
Calculation Manager itself seems to be working fine.
    Any suggestions/thoughts anyone?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Vivek,
The LDAP port is open to all the servers in the environment. LDAP users have no issues logging in to any of the tools that they have access to.
I think it has something to do with how Classic Planning passes the security token to Calculation Manager for an LDAP user. For a "general" Planning app, there is no evidence of such a transfer, because the Rules are created after the app has been created. And there the user logs in directly to Calculation Manager to create the rules.
When using EPM Architect, it would lead to reason that such a token is also passed, however, that mechanism does not seem to have any trouble.
This is the first time I am using a pre-packaged application like PSB, and have so far worked with only with "general" Planning apps. Wanted to see if anyone else has created PSB apps using external users successfully, so I can trade environment notes and may be come to a cause/solution.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Migration of Planning Applications from 9.2 to 11.1.12

    Hi All,
How to see the installed Planning version (applications, and all objects)?
Actually We were trying to migrate planning applications from 9.2 ( planning web and 1.5.0.0034 is desktop) to 11.1.1.2 version. I have followed steps as follows
    1) Create the users as per earlier planning application in SS (optional assume)...I didn't do.
    2) Creating Database(DB) for New Planning application
    3) Create Data source connection to the created DB for creating application
    4) Create the application in planning in accordance with outline of given backup files
    5) Restore DB.bak file from backup into newly created DB
    6) Restart planning service
    7) Open Planning web application, after login you can see migrate option there...click it
But when I click that migrate button, I wondered to see that it is throwing the following error....
"The application Version is invalid. Existing version : 4.1.1, Expecting version 11.1.1.2"
    Please advise...
Appreciate your responses on the same.
    Thank you

We have tried this but are unable to log in to the v11 planning app after copying the 9.x schema. updatuserd.cmd fails with a comment in the log about v9/v11 version mismatch.
In v9, our users are via an LDAP server and in v11, they will be via AD so the users can't possibly match anyway.
We are wondering how it is possible to migreate our v9 Planning apps to v11 now ...
