Migrating from Solaris 8 -Tuxedo 8 to Solaris 10-Tuxedo 11g,Help required.

Hi All,
Presently in our Unix Server(Production Box) is running on Solaris 8 and we are using Tuxedo version 8.0
We are planning to migrate our applications on the Unix server with Solaris 10 using Tuxedo version 11g r1.
Here is the glimpse of our ubbconfig file in production:
*RESOURCES
IPCKEY 59201
MAXACCESSERS 1300
MAXSERVERS 900
MAXSERVICES 2500
MODEL SHM
LDBAL Y
SECURITY USER_AUTH
SCANUNIT 10
SANITYSCAN 3
BLOCKTIME 6
*MACHINES
SPINCOUNT=5000
MAXWSCLIENTS=280
when we issue a tmloadcf -c ubbconfig
we get
Ipc sizing (minimum /T values only) ...
Fixed Minimums Per Processor
SHMMIN: 1
SHMALL: 1
SEMMAP: SEMMNI
Variable Minimums Per Processor
SEMUME, A SHMMAX
SEMMNU, * *
Node SEMMNS SEMMSL SEMMSL SEMMNI MSGMNI MSGMAP SHMSEG
abcdefgh.santosh.com.in 1045 130 1040 A + 1 682 1364 2988K
where 1 <= A <= 8.
The number of expected application clients per processor should
be added to each MSGMNI value.
The bbstats for our server is below:
bbstatsCurrent Bulletin Board Status:
Current number of servers: 532
Current number of services: 838
Current number of request queues: 186
Current number of server groups: 43
Current number of interfaces: 0
We have recompiled our code to generate new binaries in a similar development environment with Tuxedo 11g installed in Solaris 10 Unix Server,
but when we actually migrated them and booted up,within 15 minutes they started generating core files and crashed.
Hence apart from our application code(which works fine in Present situation but creating issues in the new server),
we are also doubtful about the IPC settings (i.e the outcome of tmloadcf -c ubbconfig) and configurations (RESOURCE and MACHINES section).
Can you please advice if some value needs to be tuned up in the new server/ubbconfig file.
It will be very helpful,if anyone please explain this below part:
Ipc sizing (minimum /T values only) ...
Fixed Minimums Per Processor
SHMMIN: 1
SHMALL: 1
SEMMAP: SEMMNI
Variable Minimums Per Processor

where 1 <= A <= 8.
The number of expected application clients per processor should
be added to each MSGMNI value.
I was going through the documentation but was unable to get the clear picture.
I am new to Tuxedo and hence suffering with this migration activity.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Deb

Please tell if it can create some problem in New Server.

  • Migration from AIX Oracle8i to Solaris Oracle8i?

    Hi,
I wonder how to migrate Oracle 8i (8.1.7) on AIX to Oracle
    8i (8.1.7) on Solaris?
The Oracle version is the same, but only the O.S platform is
different. I have found the migration information from Oracle
web site but it only talks about migration between different
    database.
    Thanks.

    > In our organisation, we are planning to migrate from AIX6.1 to Solaris x64. The processor which we'll be using is UltraSPARC+IV processor.
Well - I think you're mixing a few things up here.
Solaris x64 refers to Solaris on the Intel or the AMD processor (x64 == x86_64 == AMD64)
UltraSPARC IV+ refers to a CPU developed by Sun (now Oracle).
    > 1. Which guide to refer for moving the SAP System from AIX6.1 to Solaris
There are no specific guides for OS migrations. You use the heterogeneous system copy approach. However, migrating a database and/or operating system requires a certified migration consultant on-site doing the migration. If you do it yourself you'll loose support from SAP for problems during the migration and for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration).
    > 2. Is UltraSPARC+IV processor is supported for Oracle 10g
Yes. Solaris 10 on SPARC Is supported.

  • DB migration from HP-UX to Solaris

This is my assignment , what would be the good option to accomplish this?
Move DBs From HP-UX To Solaris , Replicate the HP-UX directory structure: /db1, /db2 and create on Solaris,Move databases from HP-UX (db1, db2) to Solaris

On 10.2, you can use RMAN and CONVERT DATABASE (in 10.1, you'd need to use CONVERT TABLESPACE for each tablespace), since your systems are both big endian (assuming Solaris on SPARC):
    PLATFORM_ID PLATFORM_NAME                            ENDIAN_FORMAT
              1 Solaris[tm] OE (32-bit)                  Big
              2 Solaris[tm] OE (64-bit)                  Big

  • DB migration from RHEL 5 to Solaris x86(64bit)

    DB version : 11.1.0.7
    Platform : RHEL 5 (64bit)
We would like to move our non-ASM 11.1 DB which is currently in Linux (RHEL 5) to Solaris 10 x86 (64bit).
Both RHEL 5 (64bit) and Solaris x86 (64bit) are of LITTLE ENDIAN format.
    1. I gather that I have to use RMAN's CONVERT DATABASE for this. Any Metalink note or URLs relevant to this migration ?
    2. Would the migration be easier if my DB was in 11.2 ? I could upgrade my DB to 11.2 if there are any advangtages from migration point of view?

You can use transportable tablespace option to move database accross platforms.
First, you must check tablespace dependecies.
Check whether your tablespace can transfer or not?
    SQL> exec dbms_tts.transport_set_check('TEST_TS',TRUE);
    SQL> select * from transport_set_violations;
set status of tablespace which you want to move to Read-only.
    SQL>alter tablespace test_ts read only;
    Convert datafiles of tablespace
    RMAN> convert tablespace test_ts to platform 'HP-UX (64-bit)' format='/tmp/test01.dbf';
Export tablespace metadata using data pump export
    expdp talip/talip directory=dump_dir dumpfile=test_ts.dmp transport_tablespaces=test_ts
copy datafile of tablespace to another db.
    Import metadata to another db.
    impdp talip/talip directory=dump_dir dumpfile=test_ts.dmp transport_datafiles=/data1/testts01.dbf

  • Migrating from CR2008 to CR2011 gotchas...(Help)

So We have moved from CR2008 to CR2011 YAY!!
We have an older .net app (32) That is displaying our reports when called.
So I have ported all of the reports to the new web server where CR2011 resides.
I've installed the Crystal runtime 13 so as to work with VS2010 (Latest build of app)
Is there some way to do an IMPORT all on my ~500 reports so they are now runtime 13 compatiable?
I thought it might be a simple process of just pulling the reports over and running in the app, but that isn't working.
If I just try to run the reports I get an error 'File does not begin with '%PDF'
If I try to adjust the DSN I get a 'Not supported' error.
I did try the 32 bit odbc DSN build option, but so far all of this has resulted in the report not working in the app.
(Sadly I did have the report working in CR2011...until I tried to make it work in the application and adjusted too many things, so I went back to the original version...which dosen't work anyway...yet...but hey it's still early here... :-)
    Thanks for any thoughts...links...direction... etc...
    B

    Hi B L,
    Check below points:
    1. If you are using 64 bit driver then you will not see while creating ODBC in 32 bit.
    2. If you're using a 32-bit ODBC connection, go to Start > in the seach bar type odbcad32.exe.

  • Migration from Solaris Sparc server to Solaris  x86

    Hi ,
    I would like to know.
Migration from SAP ECC6 , Oracle , Solaris Sparc to Ecc6, Oracle, Solaris x86 , Is this consider Heterogeneous or Homogeneous system copy?
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    ck chai

Solaris on SPARC is a BIgEndian platform, Solaris on X86 is LittleEndian - so it's heterogeneous --> you need to use R3load to performa a migration - and you need to have a certified migration consultant on-site to do that migration (http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ).

  • URGENT - Migrating from 9i to 10g designer

    Hi All,
I have installed new repository for Designer 10g (10.1.2.0.2) and
I have started Migration from Designer 9i (9.0.2.80.10).
I have error message from ckrau61 with cause:
"No Designer Repository has been detected.
Please check connection details and try again".
I have checked TNSNAMES.ORA and haven't found any error. Other
software works with old repository (9i) and i have checked the TNSNAMES.ORA on the server and not on the client ... Oracle is trying to build a db link and it is tested ok.
The Migration from 9i is not supported in 10g?
    Help-me!!!!
Any tips would be helpful. Thanks.

You do not have to install a new Repository and "migrate" your data to upgrade from Designer 9i to Designer 10g. You just install the 10g Designer client, connect to your existing 9i Repository and "upgrade" it to 10g.
Please refer to the "Upgrading a Release 6i, 9i, or 10g Repository" section in the Repository Installation Guide for complete details.

  • Out of memory error in migrating from mysql to oracle

    Hi,
I'm trying migrate from mysql to oracle9i. The hardware and software requirements are matching or even much higher than mentioned in the documentation. I have installed OMWB is properly(hope so). When I try to migrate the desired database from mysql to oracle, the repository, the Oracle model are created successfully. But while migrating data, say for around 35000 rows insertion everything works pretty fine. But after sometime, the migration stops and no error or anything appears in the screen. And in the Errorlog I get "OutOfMemoryError".
I tried to migrate single table also. But I still get this problem after sometime. The tables may contain from 10 - 130000 rows...
I even tried to change the %JRE..% memory value to 64M or 128M in the omwb.bat file and the O/s is Microsoft Windows XP, RAM 256MB.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Viji,
did the message in the error.log provide any extra information? For example, was the OutOfMemory error prefixed with a string
like "cannot create new native thread" ? My suggestion to workaround the problem would have been to increase the JVM heap size to 128
but this appears to have been unsuccessful for you. Can you send a mail to the Migration Workbench support services
([email protected]) explaining the problem, and attach the full error.log file please ? (please also copy me on the mail).
In the meantime, you can workaround this by migrating the schema only (there is a switch on step 3 of the migration wizard asking:
"Do you want to migrate the table data to Oracle?" - just select the "No" option). When the schema has migrated, you can then use the
offline data loading facility to migrate the data. This uses data extraction scripts and SDQL*Loader to migrate the data to the target
Oracle database. You can learn more about the offline data loading facility from the plugins referenceguide (from the Help menu in
    the Migration Workbench).
    I hope this helps,
    Tom.
