Hi Martin,
Before DataSource Migration, you have to migrate the "Transfer Structure" first. Otherwise Datasource activation may become dicey.........

data source FI GL line item (0FI_GL_4) updates data into business content DSO "0FIGL_O02'. there is standard Cube is available. Although we have standard cube for account receivable and account payable line itmes.

Changing selection parameteres of Std. datasources ( 0FI_GL_4 )

Dear All
I want to change and add HKONT in the seletion of the Datasource 0FI_GL_4 . But when opened with T-code RSA6, the HKNOT is not hylighted and hence I can't tick the selection. Can we change the selection parameters for data loading of Std. Datasources ?

RDA Issue for Datasource 0FI_GL_4

Hello Gurus,
I want to implement RDA using datasource 0FI_GL_4.
1. This datasource in R/3 is not R/3 enabled. I checked this in se11 --> ROOSOURCE ->Execute> 0FI_GL_4.
The field REALTIME is not enabled.
2. I am trying to create Web service source system. Whenevr I am going to Web service and by right clicking on it, its showing message that this system is already existed.
3. Please provide me with step by step information.
I referred a blog of Kamaljeet Singh too.
Kindly let me know how to make this datasource as RDA enabled.

Hi Sonu,
please create an infopackage with update option initialisation without data transfer.
Run this Infopackage so that delta is initialized without data transfer and then create an infopackage for delta and u can see the real time check box available for input.
if u have done this and even then u face the same problem please try this
check whether u have any other realtime inpofackege for the same datasource.
if u dont have any such, then try this it might work out.
i did the same when i faced same problem, after creating the DTP and initialising the delta ,just come out of RSA1 and goto modelling workbench again try to create an infopackage. this worked for me.
this is an unexplainable solution.

Event error extract in datasource 0FI_GL_4

Hi Guru's,
        please help me a serious problem.
In r/3 when Iam double cliking on my datasource I'm not able to display the datasource or change it.
the error displayed is MSG TEXT: [event with errors extract in datasource 0FI_GL_4].
I have enhanced the datasource as per 4.6 but here the version is ecc5 r/3.
even in rsa5 I'm not able see the datasource fields or change.

Clean and Pristine AD Migration with same top level domain, possible?

We had planned on doing a C&P migration of a domain with the initial assumption that the TLD was .local.
Turns out it is .com, is it still possible to do C&P?
TLD is company.com, no sub domain.
We want xxxxxxx.company.com as the AD sub domain. From everything I read C&P requires a different TLD or can it work so long as we use a sub domain? Eventually the old server will go away.

But
If you have xyz.com now and you want sub.xyz.com and you create this as a child domain then the old xyz.com will always be around. You can create sub.xyz.com as a different forest and migrate off of xyz.com if you want.
If you're going from 2003 to 2012 you'll need to wait for the newest version of ADMT to be released. Right now 3.2 does not support 2012. You can create the new domain as 2008 R2 and then raise it to 2012 after your migration if you need to start
soonest.

How to migrate user mappings for datasources?

Is it possible to migrate / export user mapping data from EP6. I know I can add the information manually into the import file format. How do I get the information out of the EP6 system?

It is not a trivial thing to export passwords from OSX Server. There is an article on afp548.com that explains how to do it although as I remember I don't think it worked 100% all of the time. Besides by the time you have gone through the whole process, most of it using the command line, you may as well have simply defined a password policy forcing all users to change their password at next log-on.
The documents are correct. If you export users and re-import them, passwords are not transferred. If your Server is an Open Directory Master and you archive the LDAP database and then restore it (or in your case transfer it to another server) then passwords are retained. To go from 10.3 Server to 10.5 Server the 10.3 Server must be updated to the latest version for that version of the Server. In addition to this Leopard Server can only be configured in Advanced Mode. This is also true for 10.4. This is if you are upgrading an existing 10.3.9 Server to 10.5 Server. You can promote your 10.3.9 Server to Open Directory Master (on 10.3 you did not need DNS running to be able to do this although it is better if it is), and upgrade to 10.5. Or you can promote to OD Master, archive the LDAP database, demote back to Standalone, backup all relevant data and clean install to Leopard, configure required services and restore the LDAP database once Leopard is an OD Master. This may work. As a safety net I would always export users and groups from the local node anyway. You will have to do this in any case if you went to OD Master as you would have to remove users and groups from the local node and import them into the LDAP node.

Cant Migrate 3.x Hierarchy Datasource

as the title says we can migrate all our datasources from 3.x to bi7 but we do not get the option with the hierarchy datasources, is there any reason for this and if so what are the steps to overcome this.

There is no new method to create Hierarchy in BI7.0 So, we have to follow the same steps as in BW 3.5.
So,There is no need to migrate.

BI : Datasource 0FI_GL_4 , Fields in Append structure

I have done extraction for 0FI_GL_4 which contains standard fields. I have appended the structure in 0FI_GL_4 and added the below two fields with description:
USNAME : User Name:
UBHKT : G/L Account Number for Our Bank Account / Bank Sub-Account.
I am going to use customer exit Exit_SAPLRSAP_001 and created Project in CMOD. I need to write the code in it, but I wanted to know as to from which table should I populate the data for fields USNAME & UBHKT. Kindly advise.
is there any single table from which i can fetch both the fields ?? Kindly advise.

I would advise you not to use cmod for the fi_gl_4 extractor - there is a std BW user exit provided called BTE 5021 inside the extractor already for that purpose - have a look at OSS 410799 for info on how to use it
However - for the usnam you do not need to cmod or BTE anything - just put them exactly as the are in the user append structure ci_bsisfor the datasource - do not prefix them with a ZZ or a Y as you would normally do
Those fields exist on bkpf
The extractor does a move corresponding on and will automatically copy the field contents with no coding at all
I havent tried it for some time with bkpf records so it may or not work - if it doesnt use the BTE 5021 to read the data
With regards to the UBHKT I am slightly confused - this will always be the saknr on the bseg record (which you already have in BW on the extractor (0glaccount) for those postings to gl bank accounts.. we will need more functiona linput as to why they want it and in what circumstance

Are Export DataSources always 3.x format? Can they be migrated to 7.0 DTP?

I am extracting for a BW Export DataSource into a cube. It seems that when you generate an Export DataSource, the DataSource in 3.x format.
I first created the ETL using the 3.x scenario.
i.e Export DataSource->Transfer Rules->InfoSource->Update Rules->Cube
I then wanted to move the DTP for improved efficiency and so created a new 7.0 InfoSource and built the 7.0 scenario
i.e Export DataSource->Transformation->7.0 InfoSource->Transformation->Cube and all works well.
I'm now trying to remove the 3.x scenario, but it causing problems because the Export DataSource remains 3.x.
If I try to delete the 3.x DataSource, it wants to remove dependent objects (which are both 3.x & 7.0 scenarios).
If try and migrate the 3.x DataSource to 7.0 (Rightclick: Migrate), it gives me an Error Message no. RSDS163 - Export DataSource 8AUEQUIPMTM(CBW230ALE) in myself system: Object type RSDS not possible
I can't find anything on OSS, but I suspect Export DataSources are not supported in the 7.0 format as yet.
As such, I am required to leave 3.x scenario intact to process the 7.0 scenario.
This isn't a great problem, but it is a little messy and confusing for the person administering the loads.
Can anyone tell me if it possible to make an Export DataSource into 7.0 DataSource?

Hi,
when needed, you can indeed convert datasources from v3.5 to V7, and back, using transaction RSDS. Choose "with export". This "saves" the "other" version, and so it can be "restored" afterwards via RSDS again.
This is also true after DS replication from a sourcesystem, when the system asks whether you want the new replicated DS to be 3.X or V7. Either you choose, you can convert afterwards if needed.

Migrate tables and data from ODBC datasource to Oracle 11.2

Hiya
I have a database file in Dynamics NAV 5.0 native format - about 200-300 tables totalling maybe 10 GB worth of data.
My task is to migrate those tables with their data into a schema in our Oracle 11.2 database.
No tools support the NAV format directly :-) But I have a windows ODBC driver for that format that works.
The Oracle database runs on Linux and I have no ODBC transparent gateway and no linux ODBC driver that would let me access the NAV datafile directly from within Oracle.
I tried migration wizard in SQL Developer, but it seems it cannot use a "generic ODBC" datasource (even with JDBC-ODBC bridge), it must be a supported database format?
Then I have tried trial of product Altova MapForce, but it can't seem to read the schema (table/columns) from the ODBC datasource for some reason.
I know reading the schema from the ODBC datasource is possible - I have used third party product "Database Browser" that reads the ODBC with no problems.
And a colleague has read the schema of the ODBC in C# also.
I am primarily a SQL developer. My colleague said he could write in C# a program that looped over the tables in the ODBC, read the columns, executed "create table" in Oracle, read data from the ODBC, inserted data in Oracle.
But he is going on vacation right now :-( And I keep thinking that someone else must have written such a migration program ;-)
I just can't seem to find it by googling? Altova Mapforce was my best bet, but it just seems to have problems with this specific ODBC datasource.
Any ideas for a migration tool that can accept a generic ODBC datasource and not specifically SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, etc.?

Hi Kim,
The earlier 9i and 10g generic connectivity option - HSODBC - could only run as part of the RDBMS but the 11g DG4ODBC can be installed and run standalone without an RDBMS. You then connect using database links from Linux using an entry in the RDBMS tnsnames.ora as you have said.

for 64-bit.
The downloads have everything necessary for a gateway standalone install.

Migration of emulated datasource from 3.5 to BI 7

    For a requirement I want to migrate a emulated datasource 0material_attr   to bi 7.Previously some one already developed complete dataflow in 3.x, now i need to migrate every thing in bi 7.In order to make sure do i need to follow any sequence for this migration ( means first transferrule and then updaterule and then datasource) or I can directly migrate datasouce in BI 7 and then create transformation.Please any body suggest me.

1.     Migrate all UpdateRules
Select the UpdateRule and press the right mouse button to get the context menu.
Choose u201CAdditional Functionsu201D and select u201CCreate Transformationu201D.
The UpdateRule is based on a 3.x InfoSource. The Transformation has to be created on a InfoSource (called u201CNew InfoSourceu201D ). A pop-up will ask you if you want to create a new InfoSource as a copy of the existing 3.x InfoSource. We need to have the new InfoSource, therefore choose u201CCopy InfoSource 3.x to New InfoSourceu201D and press enter.
2.     Migrate all TransferRules, for each relevant Source System Release
The migration of TransferRules is almost the same as the migration of UpdateRules. The main difference is, that you should not create a new InfoSource during the migration process. You have created the InfoSource already in the first step during the migration of the UpdateRule. Reuse the already existing InfoSource. Otherwise the link to the Transformation created before is missing.
Please have in mind that a transformation is source system dependent. Therefore the shadow table logic is the same as already known for the TransferRules. Be aware that you have to build a transformation pointing to a DataSource for each source system release which is needed (Basis release e.g. 620,640,700u2026) .
In order to perform the migration as described at the beginning of this chapter all TransferRules for the required SourceSystem relations must be active in the system.
3.     Migrate the DataSource. Make sure, that no TransferRule is still using the DataSource .
The migration of the DataSource is the last step which is needed to migrate the whole dataflow. Please make sure that not TransferRules pointing to this DataSource are still in use. How this can be done will be added later to the document.
TransferRules will be deleted when the DataSource is getting migrated. Choose the DataSource and select the Entry u201CMigrateu201D in the context menu.
4.     Test if everything is ok.
5.     Delete the UpdateRules and the 3.x InfoSource if the InfoSource in not used by still existing UpdateRules.

Datasource migration from 3.5 to 7

Hi Expert,
BI 7 was installed in the environment with datasource 3.5 actviated in source system. I am not sure do I need to migrate datasources from 3.5 to 7.0? Can experts please share with me on what are the features available in datasource 7.0? Will datasource 7.0 improve on delta loading? Is migration a must from datasources 3.5 to 7.0?

Hi,
As correctly pointed out, the datasource migration is not required unless you plan to achieve the following:
1. RDA (Real Time data acquisition)
2. Direct access to master data.
3. Remote activation of datasource (meaning from BW itself, you can acitvate DS in ECC)
However the only checkpoint is that if you are using hierarchies, those have to be loaded with 3.5 datasources as 7.0 does not support hierarchies. It is supported in 7.3

we have to extract data from R/3 to BI using LO (logistic) after replicating the datasource we wish to migrate the datasource , can any one pls guide how to migrate (migration with export and / or migrate without export ) the datasource and also transfur rules and update rules to transformations . is there any document available on this as how to.........................

Its best practise to migrate the DS with the option With Export ,so that you can restore to 3.x DataSource later when you need.
