Migration from HP-UX to Linux 64 bit on SAP XI 3.0 environment
Hi All,
Can you please provide the requirements steps/documents for migration from HP-UX to Linux 64 bit on SAP XI 3.0 environment
Thanks
SateeshHi Sateesh,
This migration which you refer here is a heterogenous system copy. you may refer the system copy guide for the same.
you can get the system copy guide from the below link

4.6C migration from HP-UX to Linux
Hi all,
we are planning to move the current 4.6C environment from HP-UX to Linux platform. we need help with a couple of things that are posted below.
1. Is 4.6c compatible on RH Linux 11.31.
2. Do we need a seperate liscense for Linux or can we use the existing one.
3. Can we install a fresh installation of 4.6C on linux and import the DB from teh present working environment. Is this the way it is done.
4. Can we upgrade the DB from Oracle 9.2 to 10.4 due the migration process.
Your hellp will be appreciated.Dear
1. There is no Red Hat 11.31, only HP-UX 11.31 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (or 4).
2. After migration, you hardware key changed, you need to renew your license. You do not need a separate one
3. for OS/DB Migration, check: http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration
4. There is no Oracle 10.4, only 10.2.0.4 ! If you want to use Oracle 10.2.0.4 you'd need the 46C_EX2 kernel
You should also take care, that native installation for 46c is 32bit only (for Linux). However, we have a prepared 46c installation CD for 64bit installations on linuxx86_64 (with kernel 46c_EXT -> later upgrade to 46c_EX2). You can request this CD via an OSS call on BC-OP-LNX-X64.

OS/DB migration from IBM zOS to IBM AIX for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 100
An OS/DB migration is required from zOS to AIX for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 100.
By default, R/3 4.71 is using kernel 6.2. But SAP stops the maintenance for kernel 6.20 and kernel 6.40 (or 6.40_ext, or 6.40_ex2) is recommended.
My question is which CD (include 6.20 kernel) will be used for export and import?
Under https://service.sap.com/swdc --> Installations and Upgrades --> My Company's Application Components" SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE" SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X110 --> Installation --> OS , I can find:
CD R3E 4.70 SR1 (U) SAPINST DB2 UNIX/NT
CD R3E 4.70 SR1 (U) Kernel DB2/UDB A,L,N
and I believe they are 6.20 version. There is no 6.40 kernel there.
Note 664679 (Installing 6.40 kernel in SAP WEB AS 6.10/6.20) describes a way to upgrade the kernel to 6.40. It does not apply to a fresh installation.
Migration requies the latest R3LDCTL, R3SZCHK, R3load for both export and import.
Under https://service.sap.com/swdc -->Support Packages and Patches --> My Company's Application Components" --> SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE --> " SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X110" --> Entry by Component" --> SAP R/3 Enterprise Server, we can find:
SAP KERNEL 6.20 32-BIT (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.20 32-BIT UNICODE (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.20 64-BIT (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.20 64-BIT UNICODE (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT
SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT UNICODE
SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT
SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT UNICODE
SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 32-BIT
SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 32-BIT UC
SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 64-BIT
SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 64-BIT UC
The version of R3LDCTL, R3SZCHK, R3load under kernel 6.20 is quite old. So I think 6.40 is recommend to work with those migration tools.
Per note 971646, there is an DVD (Material Number 51033746) "6.20/6.40 based products Installation Master (Edition May 2008)" but it only apply to Enterprise 4.7 x 200, not Enterprise 4.7 x 100.
So who can clarify which CD I can use for this migation?
Thanks,
JamesThis sounds like a kernel update for the installation tool.
I think there should be a chance to abort the export/import/inatllation of 620, then we replace the kernel (SAPEXE.SAR, SAPEXEDB.SAR, R3load tools etc) with 640 version and then continue the export/import/installation. Am I right?
Thanks again
James

HI All,
We are just migrating OS from HP UX to Linux .But we are not touching database. In ABAP System there is no instance ID.So after migration all the application need not to be reinstalled. But in java there is unique instance id registered with java CI .So we need to again install application .Otherwise application server don't get synchronized .Is there any other way so that after migration also all applications are synchronized. We need not to manually reinstall .

Issue while migrating from File to DB based repository for SAP adapter
Hi
I recently migrated from file based repository to DB based repository.
SAP Adapter: DB repository for JCA configuration
After that I created the new targets and the jca log file showed me correct entry saying that it read from DB repository.
Thread[Thread-6,6,main] [info ] Repository URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@db_host:1521/fmwdbqa' resolved to repositoty type: oracle
But when I restarted the weblogic server I observed that it is again reading from the file repository.
Thread[[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '3' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)',5,Pooled Threads] [info ] Repository URL 'file:///opt/apps/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/config/XYZ/repository.xml' resolved to repositoty type: file
Any reason why this is happening? Any other setting required to avoid this?
Regards
SubhankarHi Manoj
I checked the web.xml under MW_HOME/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/iwafjca.war/WEB-INF folder. The iway.jndi is set to below :
<param-name>iway.jndi</param-name>
<param-value>eis/OracleJCAAdapter/DefaultConnection</param-value>
I checked the outbound connection settings from Admin console under below path
Home >Summary of Deployments >iwafjca > configuration
I can see that the properties IWayRepoURL, IWayRepoUser and IWayRepoPassword are set to blank here. Where exactly are these property values picked from ? Or do I need to manually edit it here in admin console itself?

Migrating from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 Server for CUCM8.0
Customer Alpha has CUCM and Nortel.
(I.) Following is the CUCM Cluster breakup:
- Location X: PUB, SUB1, SUB2
- Location Y: SUB3
- Location Z: SUB4, SUB5
(II.) Location Z, Block-A has 10,000 users on Nortel which need to be moved to CUCM8.0 for which the following two new SUBSCRIBER's added to the existing CUCM Cluster:
- SUB6, SUB7
- SUB6 & SUB7 will be installed on a UCS C210M2 server
- Customer will be shipped with two UCS C210M2 with dual quad core 5640 processor
2.In Location Z, currently SUB4 and SUB5 are on MCS 7845 server.
Need to Migrate SUB4 and SUB5 on UCS C210M2 Server from MCS7845.
This way, Location Z with SUBSCRIBERS(SUB4, SUB5, SUB6 and SUB7) will migrate to UCS C210M2 server platform.
Rest of the locations namely- LocationsX & LocationY will continue running on MCS7845 platform.
Need to understand the Migration strategy (point wise) keeping in mind, the PUB is in LocationX still on MCS and only the SUB- SUB4, SUB5, SUB6 and SUB7 will be on UCS platform in locationZ.
Please share the steps required to perform this type of Migration.
Thanks & Regards
SumitHi Gajanan,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
SUB4 Migration from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 server involves the following steps:
Take SUB4 out of the Network.
Install SUB4 on UCS C210-M2 server, just as a fresh install and ensure the same SUB4 name is assigned on UCS what its there on the MCS7845 platform.
While installation of SUB4, it ask for PUB details like IP Address, assign the reqd. details.
Migrate the users assigned to SUB4 with SUB5 for the time being, this step should have been performed in the beginning.
Once the installation is complete, you can re-install the users from SUB5 to SUB4.
Database replication will take place from PUB
Please confirm if Step4 is required or when we take the Backup using DRS of SUB4 and after the installation of SUB4 on UCS C210, restore the backup on SUB4 and then it would populate the users/phones that were tregistered with SUB4 on MCS 7845 platform on to UCS C210M2 platform.
Do we need to take DRS of the PUB or SUB4?
Can you please put the steps in the correct order.....
Follow the same steps fro SUB5 Migration from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 server platform.
Thanks & Regards

APEX Database migration from HP-UX to Linux
Hi,
we are migrating database from oracle 10.2.0.3 on HP-UX to 10.2.0.4 on Linux. We have Apex 3.1.2.00.02 installed in 10.2.0.3.
Could anyone please provide me any checklist or relevant documentations to migrate database which contains APEX. we are planning to use export/imp
Please help.
Thanks,
KrishFirst thing I would do is export all of your applications just to be safe. If you're doing a full database export / import, I believe it will work. If you're going schema by schema, it will not.
The cleanest way is to do a fresh install in your new database...

Migration from HP-UX to Linux on Oracle DB: From 9.2 to 10.2
Consultation, (SAP R3 4.6 Ext)
If I make an export of oracle 9.2 on HP platform, I can make an import to oracle 10.2 on Linux platform?
Someone could make a similar migration?
Regards.> If I make an export of oracle 9.2 on HP platform, I can make an import to oracle 10.2 on Linux platform?
Yes - you can. Technically the exports are platform and database independent.
Keep in mind that for a production migration you need to have a certified migration consultant on-site, otherwise you will loose support for the target system (http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration).
Also keep in mind that HP-UX is big endian and the target platform is little endian - so if you exchange binary data with other/external systems they need to be made aware of this.

SahaThis will not work ....
Since you are performing the cross-platform migration . So this method will not work . Either use the exp/imp or datapump or the transport tablespace . for more about the transport tablespace check the below link

Hope this may help you

SAP Oracle database 11.2 migrating from Solaris to RedHat Linux (x86_64)
What is SAP guidance on database migration ? What is the best approach ?
I heard person who does migration has to be certified by SAP.Jun He wrote:
Thank you for prompt response. When you say "heterogenous system copy" does not support it, do you mean SAP does not support the converted system or just the process itself ?

Hi Jun,
I didn't said that SAP will not support your system, after the migration by Oracle data pump. I noted that OS/DB migration is performed by heterogenous system copy with the migration key.
Under this circumstance, if they accept to support you during the migration process with data pump, there's no problem. As I noted that previously, technically it is possible to migrate the system by using data pump, but I didn't requested that kind of support to SAP. I've been surprized to hear that they will support migration with Oracle data pump method. This is my own assestment.
Will they support you, if you face with a problem during the migration with data pump? Or some other problems you may be face after you go to productive, because of this migration?
>> When you say "heterogenous system copy" does not support it, do you mean SAP does not support the converted system or just the process itself ?
I mean that SAP does not support just process itself and the problem you face because of this migration.

OS Migration from AIX to SUSE Linux
Hi All,
We are having a scenario in which we want to change our OS.
First we have AIX with oracle 10.2.0.4 and SAP ECC 6.00 which we want to change into new hardware with SUSE Linux with same Oracle and ECC 6.00
So we are planning to do Oracle Offline backup restore in the linux system, but in some placed i found If not homogeneous it will not work..
Please let us know the best way.

HT4796 AutoCorrect List (migrate from PC-based Word to Word for Mac)
My transcription work, the production of which relies on extensive use of MS Word's AutoCorrect feature. I am currently using a PC.
I seek to migrate to a Mac, only if I may easily (import) use the same AutoCorrect List database, obviously without re-entering data.
Thank you for reading and if you're moved to reply.

Migration of Oracle Apps from HP-UX to Linux
Hi Experts,
We have plan to migrate the Oracle Application from HP-UX to Linux OS. Can you please suggest me the road map to be followed :
requirement :
Source : 11.5.10.2 + 10.2.0.4 (DB) : HP-UX
Target need to be : 11.5.10.2 + 11.2.0.2 (DB ) RHEL 64-Bit
Would be grateful , if you suggest the road-map. And suggest if the DB upgrade to be done in the beginning or after the migration.
And also , please provide the note ids to be followed for each activity.Hi,
At high-end you will have to break up your work into 02 level:
1. Perform a platform migration from HP-UX to Linux
2. Upgrade the Database to 11.2.0.3 from 10.2.0.4
Note: I was aware your target database was 11.2.0.2, but since the latest update is 11.2.0.3 I recommend you do the same.
1. Perform a platform migration from HP-UX to Linux
HP and Linux share a different endian format, therefore you will have to proceed migrating your database via and export/import (you may not be able to use Transportable tablespace).
