Migrating from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 Server for CUCM8.0

Customer Alpha has CUCM and Nortel.
(I.) Following is the CUCM Cluster breakup:
   - Location X: PUB, SUB1, SUB2
   - Location Y: SUB3
   - Location Z: SUB4, SUB5
(II.) Location Z, Block-A has 10,000 users on Nortel which need to be moved to CUCM8.0 for which the following two new SUBSCRIBER's added to the existing CUCM Cluster:
    - SUB6, SUB7
    - SUB6 & SUB7 will be installed on a UCS C210M2 server
    - Customer will be shipped with two UCS C210M2 with dual  quad core 5640 processor
2.In Location Z, currently SUB4 and SUB5 are on MCS 7845 server.
Need to Migrate SUB4 and SUB5 on UCS C210M2 Server from MCS7845.
This way, Location Z with SUBSCRIBERS(SUB4, SUB5, SUB6 and SUB7) will migrate to UCS C210M2 server platform.
Rest of the locations namely- LocationsX & LocationY will continue running on MCS7845 platform.
Need to understand the Migration strategy (point wise) keeping in mind, the PUB is in LocationX still on MCS and only the SUB- SUB4, SUB5, SUB6 and SUB7 will be on UCS platform in locationZ.
Please share the steps required to perform this type of Migration.
Thanks & Regards
Sumit

Hi Gajanan,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
SUB4 Migration from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 server involves the following steps:
Take SUB4 out of the Network.
Install SUB4 on UCS C210-M2 server, just as a fresh install  and ensure the same SUB4 name is assigned on UCS what its there on the MCS7845 platform.
While installation of SUB4, it ask for PUB details like IP Address, assign the reqd. details.
Migrate the users assigned to SUB4 with SUB5 for the time being, this step should have been performed in the beginning.
Once the installation is complete, you can re-install the users from SUB5 to SUB4.
Database replication will take place from PUB
Please confirm if Step4 is required or when we take the Backup using DRS of SUB4 and after the installation of SUB4 on UCS C210, restore the backup on SUB4 and then it would populate the users/phones  that were tregistered with SUB4 on MCS 7845 platform on to UCS C210M2 platform.
Do we need to take DRS of the PUB or SUB4?
Can you please put the steps in the correct order.....
Follow the same steps fro SUB5 Migration from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 server platform.
Thanks & Regards
Sumit

  • Upgrade Call Manager from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrate from MCS to UCS...

We are upgrading UCM from 8.5(1) to 10.5(1) and migrating from MCS to UCS. We used UCM 8.5 OVA (7500 user) and migrated to UCS.
Once migrated to UCS we upgraded UCM to 10.5(1). We wanted to use OVA to accommodate 10,000 users, hence took backup of 10.5(1) cluster and installed new servers with new 10.5(1) OVA (10,000 users).
While doing DRS restore, system we were not able to perform a restore. It seems UCM is not recognizing the XML file. It is strange as we took the back from UCM 10.5(1) and trying to restore same version, only difference is upgrade was done with 7500 user OVA and we are now trying to install 10,000 user OVA.
Has anyone run into similar issue? any help will be great.
    Thank You.

This thread is 5 months old but doesn't seem resolved...
I ran into this same scenario last week. Was using the same SFTP server for backups and restores during migration from 7.1(5) to 10.5 and during final rebuild/restore of the "to-be" production 10.5 Publisher, the DRS server was unresponsive and blamed the Master Agent or SFTP server. I had restarted Master and Local agent repeatedly, and regenerated ipsec certs to no avail.
TAC suggested I try a different SFTP server (which I already had, with the same files), and try deleting the .xml files that were included with the backup (drfComponent.xml and processhost.xml). I installed TitanFTP, per TAC's recommendation, deleted the processhost.xml file, regenerated the ipsec certificate one last time, restarted DRF Master, and then DRF Agent, and was able to start a DRS Restore.
Try the above process if you're still having issues.

  • Migrating from SBS 2011 to Windows Server 2012R2 Standard with 365

Im looking to move SBS 2011 to Server 2012R2 standard and with a 365 migration as well.
    Im thinking
    BPA for AD (health check)
Add the Server2012R2 as a DC
    Ensure replication
    Move DHCP
    Change DNS
Now this is where I get lost, now Im lost to use either dirsync or add essentials service, I have gone for standard and 30 cals with the option  as I have 28 users and the essentials service would make everything quite nice for remote access and backups
etc....  however I don't know whether to just use dirsync with password replication instead ?
Currently Im aiming towards getting the dc up and running then enabling essentials on the dc but I dont know how it will effect SBS and having essentials on the same network and sync'ing people to the cloud ? So Should I use DirSync on a different server
instead to sync up to azure ?
Finally with 365 I have only ever done a migration involving an export of pst's from an exchange box and then on a new domain with new pc's and reimport the pst's on the user accounts in outlook.
However I have read when migrating to 365 was using exchange 2010 there was a application
to move everything across however you needed an ssl cert iirc ? so I dont know how it works now since the nice new dashboard upgrade (assuming the tool has been updated like dirsync)
along with the above how does AD now know where exahcnge if you use the migration app with an ssl cert and is it a case of still running the 365 config tool to configure each user to look at their mail in the
cloud ? Also is it a good idea to enable essentials from the start of the 2012r2 dc for replication top 365 or to use dirsync ?
then finally when replications is all good start transferring the FSMO roles over to the new DC and demote and remove the SBS server
I have seen (below) but i dont think it covers this scenario and I cant be the only person in this situation =\ ?

I’m a little confused with the description. Did you mean that set up DC (Windows Server 2012 Standard) and
then install the Windows Server Essentials Experience role? If so, when you migrate, please refer to the article:
Migrate from Previous Versions to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials or Windows Server Essentials Experience
Regarding to migrate Exchange to Office 365, please refer to following articles.

  • Migration from Sun Java System Portal Server to the Oracle Portal

Hi, I'm in charge of evaluate the viability of a project that comprises the migration from Sun Java System Portal Server to the Oracle Portal. so I'm wondering if there is a kind of out of box migration tool in Oracle Portal or exists some guidelines to do the migration. In the other hand there is the option of migrate from Sun Java System Portal Server to Oracle WebCenter?
    Thanks in advance!

The migration path for Sun Portal Server is Oracle WebCenter Suite. WebCenter is a significantly different architecture so there are no tools planned for the migration. However, we do plan to document and publish a whitepaper once we've assisted a few of the initial customer migrations.

  • OS/DB migration from IBM zOS to IBM AIX for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 100

An OS/DB migration is required from zOS to AIX for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 100.
By default, R/3 4.71 is using kernel 6.2. But SAP stops the maintenance for kernel 6.20 and kernel 6.40 (or 6.40_ext, or 6.40_ex2) is recommended.
My question is which CD (include 6.20 kernel) will be used for export and import?
    Under https://service.sap.com/swdc --> Installations and Upgrades --> My Company's Application Components" SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE" SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X110 --> Installation --> OS , I can find:
    CD R3E 4.70 SR1 (U) SAPINST DB2 UNIX/NT
    CD R3E 4.70 SR1 (U) Kernel DB2/UDB A,L,N
and I believe they are 6.20 version. There is no 6.40 kernel there.
Note 664679 (Installing 6.40 kernel in SAP WEB AS 6.10/6.20) describes a way to upgrade the kernel to 6.40. It does not apply to a fresh installation.
Migration requies the latest R3LDCTL,  R3SZCHK, R3load for both export and import.
Under https://service.sap.com/swdc -->Support Packages and Patches --> My Company's Application Components" --> SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE --> " SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X110" --> Entry by Component" --> SAP R/3 Enterprise Server, we can find:
SAP KERNEL 6.20 32-BIT (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.20 32-BIT UNICODE (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.20 64-BIT (no longer in maintenance)
SAP KERNEL 6.20 64-BIT UNICODE (no longer in maintenance)
    SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT
    SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT UNICODE
    SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT
    SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT UNICODE
    SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 32-BIT
    SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 32-BIT UC
    SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 64-BIT
    SAP KERNEL 6.40_EX2 64-BIT UC
The version of R3LDCTL,  R3SZCHK, R3load under kernel 6.20 is quite old. So I think 6.40 is recommend to work with those migration tools.
Per note 971646, there is an DVD (Material Number 51033746) "6.20/6.40 based products Installation Master (Edition May 2008)" but it only apply to Enterprise 4.7 x 200, not Enterprise 4.7 x 100.
So who can clarify which CD I can use for this migation?
    Thanks,
    James

This sounds like a kernel update for the installation tool.
I think there should be a chance to abort the export/import/inatllation of 620, then we replace the kernel (SAPEXE.SAR, SAPEXEDB.SAR, R3load tools etc) with 640 version and then continue the export/import/installation. Am I right?
    Thanks again

  • Issue while migrating from File to DB based repository for SAP adapter

    Hi
I recently migrated from file based repository to DB based repository.

    Hi Manoj
I checked the web.xml under MW_HOME/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/iwafjca.war/WEB-INF folder. The iway.jndi is set to below :
    <param-name>iway.jndi</param-name>

I checked the outbound connection settings from Admin console under below path
    Home >Summary of Deployments >iwafjca > configuration
I can see that the properties IWayRepoURL, IWayRepoUser and IWayRepoPassword are set to blank here. Where exactly are these property values picked from ? Or do I need to manually edit it here in admin console itself?

  • Migrating From BizTalk 2009 To Biztalk server 2013

    Hi All,
My current solution is on BizTalk 2009 and my client is thinking of migrating to BizTalk 2013 . Please suggest me is it a good idea to migrate to BizTalk 2013.
Please provide me a difference between 2009 to 2013
Difference between 2009 to 2013 and main features.
    Thanks and Regards
    Dhanavel S

    Hi Dhanavel,
Why don’t you think about migrating to BizTalk 2013 R2 which is available now. Anyway
First and foremost thing, BizTalk Server 2009’s mainstream support from Microsoft has ended on 08-July-2014. After mainstream support, customer will get extended support until
09-July-2019. So you're are in extended support phase now. Find out the following blogpost where you will know more about what you can get and what you’re going to miss from Microsoft support for BizTalk Server 2009. And also about what you have to do next.
Why you have to migrate to the latest version.
BizTalk Server 2009 mainstream support ends. What to do next?
Apart from losing the benefits of mainstream support against the extended support and apart from getting the benefits of latest offering/features of the newer version of the
product, BizTalk server 2009 is closely dependent on its underlying platforms like Windows Server 2008 (or Window server 2003/Windows XP-SP3/Windows Visa SP1), SQL Server 2008 (or SQL Server 2005 SP2) and Visual Studio 2008. So its high time to migrate.
BizTalk Server 2009 mainstream support ends. What to do next?
Some of the benefits of migrating from BizTalk 2009 to BizTalk 2013.
    Platform upgrades:
BizTalk 2013 uses following, so when you upgrade from BizTalk 2009 to 2013, you will get the benefits by upgrading your platforms.
Windows Server 2012 (BizTalk 2009 uses Windows Server 2009)
    Visual Studio 2012(BizTalk 2009 uses Visual Studio2008)
.NET Framework 4.5 (BizTalk 2009 uses .NET 3.5)
    SQL Server 2012(BizTalk 2009 uses SQL 2008)
Virtualization support for Hyper-V (this feature is available from BizTalk 2010 onwards)
Some of the other benefits include
    Better support to could
Azure Service Bus. And support for
BizTalk Server running on Azure IaaS
BizTalk Server 2013 Support for RESTful Services
    More support towards WCF-based adpaters.
Secure FTP with new FTPS Adapter and an improved FTP Adapter
    Out-of-box support to SFTP Adapter
Enhancements to the IBM Hosts Systems adapters
    Update to BizTalk mapper
Updated Trading Partner Management (TPM) Capabilities.
Updates to industry schemas like HIPPA, HL7, SWIFT and SWIFTNet
Seamless ability to leverage BizTalk capabilities from SharePoint 2010 Business Connectivity Service to Line-of-Business systems
BizTalk Server setting dashboard for setting to
configuring the key performance, throttling, and tracking settings of your entire BizTalk group while offering fine grained control all the way down to the Host

  • Advice for migrating from Exchange to OS X Server

I am in the process of migrating away from Microsoft products altogether. The biggest beast of all is going to be Exchange.
I am looking at imapsync as a possible method of migrating user mailboxes. Is there anyone here who has undergone this task? Are there any better solutions out there for migrating the mailboxes over?
    Thanks in advance.

    slopresto wrote:
    Is it really that problematic?
I am supporting (begrudgingly) a number of OS X Mail servers. What Apple has up to now has not been very good. No vacation messaging without rolling your own add-in, weak web mail interface, poor integration with other Apple products (iPhone), randomly corrupted databases for no apparent reason, the inability to maintain read/not read status on reconstruct or migration, poor spam handling, no migration tools. I call it the problem of the week. I got a new one today. Unlike any other problem ever seen so far. And it effects one account only. I will admit that I am just tired of it. Does it work. Mostly. But there are better solutions on the platform than the built in solution. Now, this "may" change when Snow Leopard is released. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/02/13/snowleopard_server_to_ramp_up_scalability_andperformance.html which I can not confirm nor deny.
I have used straight postfix on Linux before with only an occasional problem, but never in a corporate environment.
Sadly, this is postfix on OS X, not postfix on Linux. As sad as this is to say, there is a difference and the difference is not in favor of OS X.
My boss, on the other hand has been a Mac guy for 10+ years and assures me that I will be impressed by the performance gains and lack of issues we will have by switching over from Microsoft products.
You will have gains. You will not be tied to licensing fees. You will not be plagued by the intricacies of an Exchange server and its myriad of updates, patches, tweaks, and adjustments. Heck, you will not have to reboot the machine every week to keep it from crashing. OS X has a lot of advantages over Windows in a server environment. OS X has a lot of really good services that are rock solid (BIND, Apache, racoon, the dev tools, Apple File Services (yes, I said it, it is a really good filing protocol!), Podcast server, wikis, directory services, chat server...) that make the OS X a swiss army knife of sorts. But in my experience, mail has been an afterthought and generally more trouble than it is worth.
As a side note, I should mention that Apple did pull off some real magic with the one checkbox mail cluster. I you have an Xsan and are load balancing your mail servers, the setup is beyond easy. There, I said something nice.
Is there anyone out there who has done this successfully and may perhaps know of an easy method of migrating the mailboxes in. Right now, it is a toss up between imapsync and doing a straight import via Outlook using their pst files from the nightly exmerge.
There are methods of doing the migration. If you decide to import via Outlook, I suggest doing a rule based move. If you do a drag and drop, the IMAP connection will likely drop after a few hundred messages and then you have no idea where it stopped. Create a rule to do the move. It will take longer but the time lost to frustration and manually finding where the copy stopped equals out.
Good luck in your migration. I am sorry if I came down negative. OS X Server is a great product. I just have a lot of criticism about the mail implementation. I will say, I am looking forward to September a bit as my opinion may change.

  • Lync 2013 client is deployed but user accounts are not migrated from OCS to Lync 2013 Server - how to open Lync meetings automatically in the Lync Web Plug-in

We have in our enterprise the following scenario:
    1 - Lync 2013 client is installed
2 - User accounts are not migrated to Lync 2013 Server, users are using Office Communicator as their main tool
3 - Users receive Lync 2013 meeting requests but when try to access them, Lync 2013 client launches and shows error. Users will need to open the browser and paste the URL to the address bar but this still open
4 - We cannot use the workaround of adding "?SL=1" to the Lync 2013 meeting URL as the user base is large and manual workaround is not accepted
5 - Question: is there any automated way, via egistry key or GPO setting, so that users temporarily (until their accounts are migrated to Lync 2013 server) can bypass Lync 2013 client completely and automatically open all Lync 2013 meetings
on the browser, using Lync Web Plug-in?

    Thanks for the response,
First, I should have mentioned clearly that users have Office Communicator 2007 client and Lync 2013 client installed in their machines. Their accounts are not migrated yet to Lync 2013 server.
Second, we are using IE9 and IE10. The issue is that users CAN join Lync 2013 meetings with their browsers but have to paste the URL manually to browser and add "?SL=1" otherwise, if they just click at the "Join Online Meeting" or "Join
Lync Meeting" URL it launches Lync 2013 client which shows error because is not configured yet, as they are using OCS client and migrating slowly to Lync 2013 server.
Is there a Group Policy setting or a registry key from Microsoft that can be turned on to these users machines and make will all Lync meeting requests to be opened in IE browser instead of Lync 2013 client. We need a way to ignore
Lync 2013 client until user accounts are migrated to Lync 2013 Server. Manually typing URLs is not an option in a big organization, can't explain thousands of users of different levels what to do.
We are regretting the decision not to separate Lync 2013 from Office 2013 package we deployed recently. If Lync 2013 is uninstalled then all Lync meeting requests are opened in browser without an issue.

  • OS Migration from Solaris 10 to Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher

    Hi experts,
We'd like to migrate the OS of our SAP systems to windows from Solaris 10. We're still wondering which version of Windows we'll use. (matter of money)
Could you give me some docs, tips or advice to do that ? (requirements, how to do it, packages to install)
I have checked berforehand that all the SAP solutions we're using are compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher.
I heard I'd need an OS Migration Expert to do it, but still, before that I need to check if it's possible and a roadmap could also be nice.
    Thank you in advance,
    Best Regards.
    Alexiel.

    Hi Alex,
From license perspective you need to procure license for Windows 2012 but for installation you can downgrade it to windows 2008 R2 as required.
From suggestion perspective, it is always good to go with Windows 2012 to gain benefits from mainstream support and new features as compared to windows 2008 r2.
As per SAP recommendation, it is good to have OS/DB certified consultant to perform the migration.

  • Migration from Weblogic 8.1 SP1 server to Sun Java Application Server 8

    Hi,
I have to migrate an existing application from Weblogic 8i to Sunone Application Server 8.
Can anyone please help me to know the kind of problems encountered in such a migration.
Also, If i have to port an application which uses 'Mssql' as the backend in weblogic and migrate it to sunone server and use Oracle as backend what r the changes to be made??
Also, If any weblogic specific api's or tag libraries are used then what r the changes to be made at the time of migration.?
    Thanks in advance
    Geeta

The type of issues you will encounter migrating this app depends on its complexity and how observant the programers were to writing portable code.
You will need to determine how compatible Mssql is to Oracle.
There may be changes you will need to make in the app deployment descriptors for this data.
You will need to replace the weblogic specific API's and tags.
This may require class substition, or writing emulators for the
APIs, or rewriting the code to not use these APIs.
The AVK can help you identify such portability issues.

database. The iMS installer will fail if used with any Directory Server not ours. You may want to investigate our Meta-Directory, and synchronize your AD with your Directory Server. iMS also requires quite different information from your existing infrastructure, so you will need to provision users in the iMS environment.
    - Is there any tool for migration mailboxes from
Exchange to SunONE Messaging ?I know such migrations are done all the time, but they're mostly done by our Professional Services group, and not by Tech Support.. .
    - Is there any document about this migration ?None that I have found.

  • Migrating from office 365 to OSX Server 2.2.1 Mail server.

    hi folks,
I am considering setting up an OSX Server v 2.21 and using it as my main mail server at home, and migrating away from office 365, and using the OSX mail server as my main server. I have my own domain name, and i would be the only user of the mail server.
I would be running this on a mac mini i7 with 16 GB ram.
what anti virus / spam applications are there available for the mac mail server?
    thanks.

The power in your computer is fine.  I was just trying to warn you that if any network requests come in the server configuration immediately priorises that higher than interacting with the user sitting that the keyboard.  Apps you are using may stutter until the network request has been answered.  Of course, if you don't have many network users and with a computer that powerful, it probably won't take the server long enough to answer the network request that you notice any problem.
No webmail portal for mail, and no easy way to add one.  Just mail apps using POP, SMTP, etc..
Here's the manual for OS X Server if you're interested:
