OS/DB migration from IBM zOS to IBM AIX for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 100

An OS/DB migration is required from zOS to AIX for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 x 100.
By default, R/3 4.71 is using kernel 6.2. But SAP stops the maintenance for kernel 6.20 and kernel 6.40 (or 6.40_ext, or 6.40_ex2) is recommended.
My question is which CD (include 6.20 kernel) will be used for export and import?
Under https://service.sap.com/swdc --> Installations and Upgrades --> My Company's Application Components" SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE" SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X110 --> Installation --> OS , I can find:
CD R3E 4.70 SR1 (U) SAPINST DB2 UNIX/NT
CD R3E 4.70 SR1 (U) Kernel DB2/UDB A,L,N
and I believe they are 6.20 version. There is no 6.40 kernel there.
Note 664679 (Installing 6.40 kernel in SAP WEB AS 6.10/6.20) describes a way to upgrade the kernel to 6.40. It does not apply to a fresh installation.
Migration requies the latest R3LDCTL, R3SZCHK, R3load for both export and import.

The version of R3LDCTL, R3SZCHK, R3load under kernel 6.20 is quite old. So I think 6.40 is recommend to work with those migration tools.
Per note 971646, there is an DVD (Material Number 51033746) "6.20/6.40 based products Installation Master (Edition May 2008)" but it only apply to Enterprise 4.7 x 200, not Enterprise 4.7 x 100.
So who can clarify which CD I can use for this migation?

This sounds like a kernel update for the installation tool.
I think there should be a chance to abort the export/import/inatllation of 620, then we replace the kernel (SAPEXE.SAR, SAPEXEDB.SAR, R3load tools etc) with 640 version and then continue the export/import/installation. Am I right?

I recently migrated from file based repository to DB based repository.
SAP Adapter: DB repository for JCA configuration
After that I created the new targets and the jca log file showed me correct entry saying that it read from DB repository.

But when I restarted the weblogic server I observed that it is again reading from the file repository.

I checked the web.xml under MW_HOME/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/iwafjca.war/WEB-INF folder. The iway.jndi is set to below :

<param-value>eis/OracleJCAAdapter/DefaultConnection</param-value>
I checked the outbound connection settings from Admin console under below path
Home >Summary of Deployments >iwafjca > configuration
I can see that the properties IWayRepoURL, IWayRepoUser and IWayRepoPassword are set to blank here. Where exactly are these property values picked from ? Or do I need to manually edit it here in admin console itself?

Migrating from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 Server for CUCM8.0

Customer Alpha has CUCM and Nortel.
(I.) Following is the CUCM Cluster breakup:
   - Location X: PUB, SUB1, SUB2
   - Location Y: SUB3
   - Location Z: SUB4, SUB5
(II.) Location Z, Block-A has 10,000 users on Nortel which need to be moved to CUCM8.0 for which the following two new SUBSCRIBER's added to the existing CUCM Cluster:
    - SUB6, SUB7
    - SUB6 & SUB7 will be installed on a UCS C210M2 server
    - Customer will be shipped with two UCS C210M2 with dual quad core 5640 processor
2.In Location Z, currently SUB4 and SUB5 are on MCS 7845 server.
Need to Migrate SUB4 and SUB5 on UCS C210M2 Server from MCS7845.
This way, Location Z with SUBSCRIBERS(SUB4, SUB5, SUB6 and SUB7) will migrate to UCS C210M2 server platform.
Rest of the locations namely- LocationsX & LocationY will continue running on MCS7845 platform.
Need to understand the Migration strategy (point wise) keeping in mind, the PUB is in LocationX still on MCS and only the SUB- SUB4, SUB5, SUB6 and SUB7 will be on UCS platform in locationZ.
Please share the steps required to perform this type of Migration.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
SUB4 Migration from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 server involves the following steps:
Take SUB4 out of the Network.
Install SUB4 on UCS C210-M2 server, just as a fresh install and ensure the same SUB4 name is assigned on UCS what its there on the MCS7845 platform.
While installation of SUB4, it ask for PUB details like IP Address, assign the reqd. details.
Migrate the users assigned to SUB4 with SUB5 for the time being, this step should have been performed in the beginning.
Once the installation is complete, you can re-install the users from SUB5 to SUB4.
Database replication will take place from PUB
Please confirm if Step4 is required or when we take the Backup using DRS of SUB4 and after the installation of SUB4 on UCS C210, restore the backup on SUB4 and then it would populate the users/phones that were tregistered with SUB4 on MCS 7845 platform on to UCS C210M2 platform.
Do we need to take DRS of the PUB or SUB4?
Can you please put the steps in the correct order.....
Follow the same steps fro SUB5 Migration from MCS7845 to UCS C210M2 server platform.

New UPK server details

HT4796 AutoCorrect List (migrate from PC-based Word to Word for Mac)

Hi,
The auditLevel is set to production.
I made the rollback to version 10.1.3.4, after the rollback to the version 10.1.3.4, the environment throughput is very better.
My feeling is the database utilization on version 10.1.3.5 is very high comparing to version 10.1.3.4. The cost of queries is most elevated.

OWA still lands at Exchange 2010 for users migrated from Exchange 2010 to 2013

I never had any issues with OWA redirection for a few users that I migrated from Exchange 2010-2013 initially. For users that I am migrating in the past few days, the OWA 2013 is landing on Exchange 2010 despite the mailbox being successfully migrated to
Exchange 2013.
Troubleshooting:
1. I have restarted the IIS Services
2. I have restarted MSExchangeOWAAppPool.
3. I have also checked the homeMDB attribute of the 2013 migrated user with the Exchange 2013 database.
I would really appreciate if anyone could share their experiences on similar issues.

I have checked it, the migration status is completed. In regard to the namespaces, both CAS 2010 and 2013 are set to mail.domain.com; CAS 2013 is the internet facing. I have also checked the internal access for OWA, it's the same scenario. Migrating them
back to 2010 and 2013 won't resolve the issue in my case, because the issue persists for every new user that I am migrating.
I recently found the following when I login with a user who is not effected and then logout:
1. Login in back with the affected user without closing the browser or clearing the cache, it lands at CAS 2013 OWA.
2. However, I get the below listed error message when I logout.
Your request couldn't be completed.
Click here to continue working.
This may have occurred for security reasons or because your session timed out.

How to import projects from workshop 8.1 to eclipse for weblogic 11.1

I see a few howto's for migrating from workshop 8.1 to workshop for 10 but it is not obvious how to import existing 8.1 projects into enterprise pack for eclipse. If there is a how to out there could someone point it to me or maybe give me a quick walk through.

There is no tooled support for project migration from Workshop to OEPE (regardless of version).
The biggest question when contemplating such migration is whether you are using Beehive components (NetUI, Controls, etc.). Oracle support for Beehive ended with Workshop. If your application uses these technologies, you will need to stay with Workshop. The last version of Workshop was for WLS 11gR1 (10.3.1). No future versions are planned.
If your application does not use Beehive components (or you can migrate away from them), then you can move to OEPE. The only supported approach is to recreate necessary projects in OEPE and copy your source code over.

OS/DB migration from Win/MS SQL TO IBM i

Here is a novel situation. Our implementation partner wants us to install there pre-configured ECC 6.0 EHP6 system. However they have a win/MS SQL system and we have a IBM i system. We have considered trying scc7/scc8 client export/import but we are not sure this is going to work. Looks like our last option is to do a fully fledged OS/DB migration from the win/sql to our IBM i.
Has anyone done this before? Any idea on the level of complexity? How long we should reasonably allow for the process?

nice to hear from you ;-))
As they have doen in their system ABAPs and other repository changes, there is no chance with client copy etc.
The only useful way is a full OS/DB migration.
In this case, it makes it even simpler for you ;-)
They will do an export with SAPinst towards iSeries.
You will import this export (with a migration key) on iSeries - works 99% as an installation - as they want the system in the SAME way as they do have, you even do not need to install support packs at the end - so you can say: this way makes it easier for you ;-))

Hi, in our production system there is IBM-Hyperion solution, but we need to migrate to Hyperion only solution, because IBM has decided that will no more support IBM-Hyperion solution. They always told us that the IBM version is very similar to the Hyperion version but in one case Hyperion was not able to reproduce our Analyzer problem because they hadn't had the IBM code in their support laboratory. Therefore it makes sense to bind Hyperion over to make a proof of concept for the migration. (E.g. we had problems with rule-files' language setting on WAS, we migrated them via Tomcat on a notebook to WAS on our test system!). "Is there a migration process between 7 and system 9 in "Essabse server" and "Analyzer server"?" - If you like we can exchange our experience which is a collection of consulting know-how and our own experience. We currently have an DB2 database that will be converted to Oracle. We have developed a web based application using IBM's Net.Data to access the DB2 database. unfortunately there is no plugin for DB2 on OS/390 or z/OS.
Migrations of DB2 needed to be done with the old Oracle Migration Workbench. But that excluded the OS/390 or z/OS platform:
From the following note in My Oracle Support: Migration from DB2 to Oracle (Doc ID 200288.1):
At the moment there is not a plug-in for DB2 on OS390/zOS.
Starting with SQL Developer 2.1, DB2 databases can be migrated using the SQL Developer Migration Workbench. But the "New Feature List 2.1" at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/NewFeatureList21.htm is telling us:

Consult the following My Oracle Support note for further alternatives: Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases (Doc ID 233876.1)
One chapter in the mentioned note says:
If OMWB cannot be used for the migration then other options include a manual
migration. This could be done using a transparent gateway or generic connectivity
to copy tables, or by loading data into flat files and loading into the Oracle
database using SQL*Loader.

Migrating IBM Informix to IBM DB2 Database in SAP Environment

I am in the processing of doing a DB migration on 46C. I am migrating from Informix to DB2 UDB 8 on UNIX AIX 5.3 in SAP Enviroment.
I have exported the informix database seccussfully, and I have installed DB2 UDB 8 on the target server with fixpak 9. I have also successfully installed the Central Instance.
I am trying to import the database using R3SETUP with template CEDBMIG.R3S (as advised in the heterogenous copy guide).
The installs gets to 2% and fails with the following error:

1. You use the Ext-Kernel according to note 646444
2. How does your DBSIZE.TPL look like
   ( Did you adjust it somehow ?)
Some questions :
You mention , that you already successfully installed your CI .
The template CEDBMIG.R3S is for Central installations including the CI .
Any reason why not installing with current DB2 V8 Fixpack 12 ( see note 101809 ) ?
Anyhow , I recommend to open an SAP Service Call .

What would be easy way or strategy to handle ibm ras logger when we migrate to weblogic?

The link provided caters to Websphere Studio to WebLogic 8.1. My requirement is migration from WebSphere 5.x to WebLogic. My current architecture is as follows:
1. Front End: JSP (Ver 1.2), XSL, XML
2. Middle Layer: EJB (EJB Ver 2.0) (Stateless Session Beans) (Deployed in IBM WebSphere 5.0)
3. RDBMS: Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition - Release 2.
4. Modal View Controller architecture (MVC)
5. Number of JAR files: 137
6. One WAR File
7. Appserver OS: W2K.
All the files needs to be migrated to WebLogic 8.1 including the deployment descriptor.
Is there any tool for this conversion? Any white paper, proof of concept, document on steps, approach, risks, mitigation,etc will be helpful.

SAP Archiving - Migrating from one archive backend to another.

Hi,
We use SARA for archiving and the archiving system is IBM Provided Filenet Database with ACSAP middle-ware.
From 1999 till 2009 we have archived terabytes of data into Filenet Database.
We plan to discontinue Filenet as our choice of archiving backend system and will like to migrate all existing archived data to the new archivingsystem. We are yet to decide what new system will will move to.
We are looking for help from SAP to answer following questions:
1) Is it possible migrate all past data from existing archiving system to a new one?
2) If Yes, then what is the broad approach? Does the data have to be retrieved back to SAP OR Can it be directly migrated from one backend to another one?
Retrieving the data and reloading into another tool in my opinion would be rather cumbersome and stupid method until this is the only option.
In Any case, at the end of day we want that all the data should be readable from SAP like before.
3) Is there any SAP provided tool that we can use rather then going for a 3rd party product?
4) Please guide to migration related documentation.

yes- there are ways to migrate data out of Filenet into 3rd party tool without retrieving them back through SAP. I am not aware of any SAP tool itself but we have one and could help you with this effort. Please contact me at 610 3508677 and we can discuss the possibilities.
