Migration Steps needed from Forms 6i to Forms 10g

Hi Everyone ,
We have a requirement to migrate forms build in 6i/lower version to forms 10g .
Can anyone let me know the steps that need to be followed in carrying out the process (or)
is it that the code in 6i would be compatible with 10g.

Some one please tell me where we need to run the program " RSEC_MIGRATION" whether in BW system or in the BI system.
Also before that do we need make a client copy of the BW production system.
After the users and the respective authorizations are migrated does they get migrated into new authorizations or we need modify any.
Some one Please give me some inputs.

REP 110 & REP 0110 .calling reports from Form 10g(10.1.2.0.2)

Hi All,
We are migrating form from Oracle form 6i to Oracle 10g(10.1.2.0.2). I am calling reports from forms
using Web.Show_Docment(). When we run reports in report builder 10g it works fine.
But when we try to run reports from Forms 10g it throws error which is given below.
We want to run reports from UNIX. After using this url to submit report we get error REP 110 and REP 0110

You are mixing 2 separators in the URL : & and +
Use only one separator in the URL :
Example :

DB-link is not connected from Forms 10g

Hi,
I have created the db-link(visdev) from mytest schema to APPS schema -- created successfully
->Login to mytest schema and ran the query: select * from all_objects@dblink -- Return values.
-> I have used the same dblink with below code from Forms 10g (Datablock - Pre-insert trigger)

I found this error using log message.
Can you please help us... its very critical for us.

In terms of trying to debug this why don't you login to your schema and create a view:
create view testview as select * from all_objects@dblink
and deal with that instead?
(You would need to grant permissions to that view.)
I mean as a way to keep the complex dbms_sql out of the loop and look
more to permissions and schema issues. In the long term the view hard codes the structure and is
not a good solution if the structure changes. I just mean as a test.
BTW you know there is an all_objects already? Didn't know if you meant that literally or not.
You could not use that name.

3. Entry made in the DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server ->default.env
FORMS_PATH=D:\vision_soft\VSS\exe

As my forms is working well & but the report are not able to call.
Could you please let me know is there is any other mandatory setting required for the report 10g.

How to connect to SQL Server from Forms 10g?

Hello all,
How do we connect to SQL Server database from Forms 10g?
In Oracle Metalink site they have suggested using Transparent Gateway for SQL Server as a solution.
But is there a way we can connect directly to SQL Server from Forms using an ODBC connection
without installing anything on the database server?

Hello all,
I was able to connect to SQL Server from Oracle using Generic Connectivity (HSODBC).
Transparent gateway was not required.
Followed metalink note 109730.1
So, after I created a dblink to SQL Server, I created a synonym for the dblinked SQL Server table.
When I used the synonym as the table source in Oracle Forms, I got the following error while querying.
"ORA-02070 - ROWID is not supported in this context."
This is because Forms has an invisible ROWID field and when data is fetched from SQL Server table
no Rowid is fetched since SQL Server table doesn't have one.
Is there a way to overcome this issue or do we have populate the block manually using a SQL query ?
Pls suggest.

Migration to JDeveloper from Forms

WEwant to move from forms 6 to Jdeveloper but we cannot realistically do it in one go. Has anyone any experience of Forms and Jdeveloper coexisting, that is calling and passing parameters in both directions. What is the best way of doing this? Someone has suggested use of the Java Stored Procedure Engine. Any INfo gratefully received

We are also considering a move from Forms to Java. There are a number of reasons.
The first is a requirement to reduce the network usage across the WAN. WE have a newer application written in Java (JSP) and this shows vastly better network results.
Secondly, we hope to reduce the need for heavy weight JAVA engine in the browser.
Of course, for us, it may be more difficult as we use Designer 6i (and forms 6i) generating the vaste majority of our application. We would not want to lose this ability!

Error while calling BI Publisher from Forms 10g using Webservice - Urgent !

I am calling a BI Publisher(10.1.3.4.1) webservice from the Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2). I developed a jar file which works fine when I run from the Jdeveloper. I have successfully attached jar file to the Forms 10g but when I am calling from the when-button-pressed trigger I am getting beow error
Exception: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.j2ee.ws.saaj.client.p2p.HttpSOAPConnection.setPreemptiveBasicAuth(Z)V

What steps did you follow to successfully attached jar file to the Forms 10g? To me, it sounds like you don't have your .jar file configured with Forms Builder and/or your App Server. Your .jar file needs to be added to the FORMS_CLASS_PATH in the default.env and the FORMS_CLASS_PATH registry entry. You will likely need to modify the formsweb.cfg also to include your .jar in the archive= or archive_jini= variables (depending on your JRE [Jinitiator or Sun JRE respectively]).
It could also be a dependency on an additional Java library. Is "setPreemptiveBasicAuth" a method that you created or it is a dependent method from an additional library?
Let us know this; as well as which Java version you're using.
