MIME envelope with no attachment

Hi Everyone,
We have a SOAP receiver comm channel with the flag "keep attachments" checked. We noticed that if we send a SOAP message without an attachment it sends a regular XML file (no MIME envelope), but if we have an attachment we get the MIME envelope with the body as a SOAP envelope and the attachments as an attachment part of the MIME envelope.
Is their a way to foce the MIME envelope to alway be sent out or will the standard SOAP adapter only output the MIME envelope when an attachment is present.
Also when there is an attachment will the XML message always be the first part in the MIME envelope or does this randomly change. We noticed at least one message where the XML message was the last part in the MIME.

You could provide an empty attachment. This would force a MIME type multipart/related and two parts.

The first part of the multipart message is the XI message payload and receives the SOAP header. The following parts are the XI message attachements.
If this is different in your system, then it is a bug.

Just create an applet (extend JApplet)... add a JTextArea to it....fill the text area with the text from an XML doc.
To get the text of the XML doc just do something like..

This doesn't look like a problem with Firefox, but with the attachment that you are putting on the email is blocked. You can read the link the error message gave you, which basically says that :
"ade", "adp", "bat", "chm", "cmd", "com", "cpl", "exe",
"hta", "ins", "isp", "jse", "lib", "mde", "msc", "msp",
"mst", "pif", "scr", "sct", "shb", "sys", "vb", "vbe",
"vbs", "vxd", "wsc", "wsf", "wsh"
Gmail won't accept these types of files even if they are sent in a zipped (.zip, .tar, .tgz, .taz, .z, .gz, .rar) format. If this type of message is sent to your Gmail address, it is bounced back to the sender automatically.

B2B - Email with XML attachment - Error in reading the xml file

Hello,
We have a requirement where an application sends an email with an xml attachment to a Lotus Notes (IMAP) mail box. I have configured the Partner, Agreements and Listening Channel to pick up the file from the mail box. Looks like when B2B is trying to read / store attachment, it errors out, there is no instance in B2B created. Looking at the logs, the file content is not read as XML, instead it seems like a text. When B2B tries to read the attachment it is not xml, there are no error messages as well.
The "Content type" in the Listening Channel is set to blank, so B2B can decide appropriate content type. Should this be set?
Could some one tell me what is wrong, not sure what is missing in the configuration.

Thanks for your reply, below script i used to send mail with multiple attachments, plsql code is executing without any error messages and i am also able to receive mail with the multiple attachment.
i used your code which u posted in OTN then i changed little bit as per my need, output is ok.but the problem is if i want to add one more file then i have to add more varaiables in the code. i want to make the code which i can add more attachments without adding more varaiables i don't know the way to do this. can u please give me some hints.

How to send e-mail with an attachment from remote database server.???

I have tried the simple mail sending and with the attachment using UTL_SMTP. But the problem is , it is sending the mail with attachment of the file name i give, it takes and creates that file and sends as attachment not from the actual file location. I am trying to attach the file which i stored in remote database server.

MIME files with AOL

I am having difficulty sending e-mails to AOL accounts. They are receiving the following: [This e-mail contains a MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) file. The file was specially formatted to be sent over the Internet. For more

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I send messages with and without attachments using the Mail.app to friends and family with an AOL email account without any reported problems.
Since the Mail.app uses MIME 1.0 for attachment encoding which is the internet standard, do the emails include an attachment or attachments?
If not, are you using RTF with a signature?

Problem with PDF attachment - need to send as "application/pdf" - Urgent!

I have code to email a created PDF but when the email is received the attachment is being removed by some kind of SMTPO firewall (I assume at my ISP). It says that attachment type "application/octet" with that file extension (.pdf) is not allowed. How do I set the mime type of the attachment to be "application/pdf"?

Mail.app locks up when opening a mail with an attachment

Hopefully someone has run into this before. Our Mac users connect to exchange using IMAP. However, the Intel based users have their mail app lock up when they receive an email with an attachment. So for I havn't been able to find any info on the web, and the non-specific instructions I've found for general maintenance of mail.app have not lead to a resolution either.
So far I've definitely narrowed it down to the Intel based users. Which is a problem because the non-intel users will be switching fairly soon. The general maintenance items I have tried include indexing the mail envelope, I gave one a reboot, but since it did not fix the problem did not try to restart the rest.
The mail.app version varies but is occurring in but most (working and non) are version 2.1.3, one is 2.1.1.

Ok, so since posting the original question I still have no resolution. Over the weekend I have applied all updates and am ruling out the server. Have setup exchange for POP3 access and setup a workstation to pop the mail over but it still hangs up mail.app. I have also attempted setting the client up for "exchange mode".
All of our intel based systems freeze when a message with an attachment is opened. The file types range from pdf (created with both acrobat and cutepdf) to illustrator documents.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

You didnt say whether this is 6.1 or 6.0, but if 6.1, make sure the domain user you have set in SetupAssistant for DRL Service has access and is using the correct password to the file share where the files are stored.
If 6.0 the user and password are in the environmentvaribales.config file.

When I reply or forward a message with an attachment the attachment does not forward with the email

Someone sent a message with an attachment. I replied but the attachment doesn't show in my reply. I want to be sure the attachment goes with the reply.

Unfortunately Micrisift have difficulty with understanding standards so they make mail programs that do not correctly encode attachments. Thunderbird can display them, but not forward defective mime encoding. This is a conscious decision of the developers, they are not spreading what they see as defective mail.
Forward such mail as an attachment. It is on the message menu (Alt + M) on on the drop down beside the forward button.

PL/SQL code to capture email with an Attachment from the POP server

With the help of this forum and Billy I am able to capture the email from POP3 server and display it to the user. But now my query is how can I get an Attachment from the email using PL/SQL's UTL-TCP method ? Right now the attachment is displayed as string of characters.

Seeing that none-one has bitten on this, I will have a very quick nibble.
Dealing with attachments can be complex - especially if binary. Attachment will be (should be) encoded using 7 bits. This requires you to un-encode it.
Attachments also require you to parse the mail body looking for the attachment boundary markers (as specified in the e-mail header).
The RFCs detailing the Internet Message Body and attachments will have the actual gory technical stuff.
It will make a lot more sense when looking at an existing MIME message ("raw" e-mail) when reading these RFCs - as you can fairly easily see how the MIME message was created with the attachment boundaries and headers.
Of course - also realise that as soon as you have decoded that attachment into a "proper" binary for your platform, you have a potentially malicious payload that could be "accidentally" executed. So safe guards are also needed.

i want to send mail with multiple attachment.
i m succeed in sending multiple attachment but the second pdf is not open.
its given error like "This file is damaged and could not be open.
pls check my code. and

Hi Arpit,
Take a look at the documentation of FM 'SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1' for parameter PACKING_LIST. I think you should set t_packing_list-head_num to a different value than 0 for the second attachment.

Hi,
What ever text you are sending in the email, create a standard text for it using tcode SO10. In the program use the FM READ_TEXT to get the data into internal table which will be of length 132 char. If you want line widht of 255 chars convert using FM SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE as below,

Problem with MacMail on MacBook Air - mail with 32MB attachment appearing in "recovered messages" folder every 12 seconds

Problem with MacMail on MacBook Air
3 days ago I failed to send a mail with a large (32MB) attachment - and it is no longer in my outbox, draft mails or sent file.
BUT a copy of this same mail now appears every about 15 seconds in my "recovered messages" folder
I noticed when I received a system error saying I had a disk almost full issue - there were over 580 copies of the mail with 32MB attachment in the "recovered messages file"
I deleted them all, and deleted the Trash
BUT the message still keeps re-appearing every 15 seconds or so. So I keep deleting them.
Since then I have not been able to receive mail (altho' I am able to send) and Mail is VERY slow
I am running MAC OS X 10.6.8
I am running Mail version 4.6 (1085)

Also here's the log before it happened. As you can see there is no activity from 9:48 to 10:00 am when the sound occurred.
