Mini Display error (but not the same as the other person who posted here)
I have a new Mac Pro (12-core) with the ATi 5870 card. I have a Dell U2711 monitor.
When I have the DVI from the Dell monitor connected to the Mac Pro, everything works fantastic. However, if I use the Display Port (from the Dell moni) to the MiniDisplay Port (on the Mac Pro) the machine will not properly wake from sleep mode, nor will it display a picture when it turns on. For example, if I turn on the Mac Pro with the DP to MDP, the Mac Pro boots, has sound, but never shows picture no matter what I do. The cable I have is a DP to MDP cable I purchased from Amazon. It is PROPERLY connected. I will also add that I have tried FRESH installations of OSX and unfortunately it still doesn't work.
Is this a graphics card issue? A normal issue with this combination of monitor and Mac Pro? Thanks everyone.
When people do not answer, it is generally because they feel they have nothing to add.
Your display card works fine on the DVI port. Everything works great except your adapter. If you have pushed the Mini DisplayPort end into the Mac socket far enough so that the metal is not showing any more, just the plastic, then the adapter is not working or defective.

If it is your calendar that is being shared with other users who have been granted editing priviliges, you will not be able to exclude those events from printing. -
I am using a mini display to hdmi with my macbook and the display works fine. However, the sound will only play iTunes such as music and movies but when i go online to watch movies on youtube it will not play any sound. Please help

I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro and i know the Mini-display port does not support audio out but does it support HDMI out? or do i have to buy a Mini-display to DVI and then a DVI to HDMI adapters?
Run MDP to HDMI for picture. Use a cable like this to run sound from your audio out on your Mac to your TV's audio in. That's about all you can do.

When opening iTunes on my new Windows 7 PC I continue to get the same messages, 'The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing' and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7 (Windows error 126)' I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times to no avail, even tried it on a different user account and still nothing. I recently installed Panda Internet Security 2012 (about 12 days ago), initially iTunes worked fine as usual but within the last few days I've been unable to open it with the same messages appearing. I've read through some of these pages and tried everything that's been advised, uninstalling and reinstalling while internet and laptop security is swithched off, downloading tools to completely remove anything related to iTunes, tried it in Safe Mode, nothing has worked. I've also noticed that in the start menu when I click on iTunes, it says '(empty)' where it should have the logo and ability to start the program, does this mean it doesn't download + install properly each time I've tried? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

In downloading my Events from iPhoto on my Mac to my Ipad Air, the Events arrive in Photos in the correct order but not showing the Key photo. At the same time, the Events arrive in iPhoto in a totally random order but with the Key phto showing. Why? of course and is there a way to shift the order in Iphoto and get a Key photo in Photos?

i tried to sort it out by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated. -
Unable to set PIN - Error: "PIN must not be the same as the user's phone number"
We are in an ongoing Lync Server 2013 deployment and have elected to set default conference PIN numbers for anyone that doesn't have them currently set. We decided to make the default PIN the same as the person's telephone extension. I realize
this is not a secure PIN setting, but please bear with me.
When I use PowerShell to loop through the people that do not have a PIN set and attempt to set the PIN to their five-digit extension, PowerShell returns the following exception:

I know what you are thinking: by default, Lync has the AllowCommonPatterns setting set to $false on the Global (default) PIN policy. But I have created another PIN policy called "Low-restriction PIN Policy" that has this setting set
to $true and assigned this new policy to the users I am trying to set the PIN on.
According to
Microsoft's documentation on the Set-CsClientPin cmdlet, the description for AllowCommonPatterns is as follows:
"Indicates whether or not "common patterns" are allowed in PINs.
Common patterns include repeating digits (225577); 4 or more consecutive digits (991234); and
PINs that match a user's phone number or extension number.
If set to True common patterns (such as the PIN 123456, which includes consecutive digits)
are allowed; if set to False common patterns are not allowed. The default value is False."
Given this information, I do not understand why Lync Server 2013 is preventing me from setting a default PIN that matches their extension number when AllowCommonPatterns is set to $true on the PIN policy assigned to the user.
Any ideas on what might be wrong?

I can't get my projects in Final Cut Pro X to work in 1080p. One turned out to be 1080p by "accident" but I did everything the same as the ones that did not. Same camera/settings (shot in 60i). I didn't really care cause I had to get some stuff done, but now I know I "can" dp them in HD but can't figure why the one went up to YT in full HD (and made a copy in my movies folder. That one project acted totally different than the other 5 but I didn't change anything. Can't get it to work again. ***? Any ideas?
No problem! If you're worried about more complicated edits (which in all honesty, should work no matter how many clips you select or how many effects are attached to them), you can always compound a clip first, and then copy it over after if you're afraid of lots of track clutter getting in the way. Not sure if they would break apart afterwards though if you wanted them to.

What "app cleaner software" ? I ask because installing Photoshop over a previous version has never been a problem. Perhaps your difficulty stems from another source, eg. "cleaner software" ?
If you look in your hard drive, at the root level there is a Library. In there is a folder called Application Support, and in that you will find a folder called Adobe. Files from your previous version are there.
However, I urge you to call Adobe support to make sure you are not doing anything that would mess up other Adobe applications.

I connected the rocketfish mini display port but am only able to have audio through my computer. I was able to successfully drag the video to the tv. What can I do to hear through the tv?

I use a mac ios and shoot raw in a cannon 5d mark ii and shortly upon import of my images lightroom darkens and changes my images. This has happened before but not every time. The strange part is my last shoot had the same camera setting but this did not happen. The images i have now i can not use after lightroom has automatically altered them even if i try editing back to how they looked upon import
First thing to do is to change the default camera profile applied in Lightroom to camera standard (assuming that you shoot Canon or Nikon). Also make sure that your camera is NOT set up to use any of the HDR modes. Nikon calls those Active Dynamic Lighting. On Canons you often see things like highlight priority mode or "Auto Lighting Optimizer". Make sure that the picture style is set to standard and that for newer Canons the HDR mode is turned off. Most of the HDR modes simply underexpose the image and then add an instruction in the raw file to compensate for this to prevent highlights from being blown out. This causes more noise in the shadows and if you know what you are doing there is no point to this as you should simply expose correctly and get the highest quality raw.
Lastly, make sure that in Lightroom you have not checked "Apply Auto Tone Adjustments" in Preferences->Presets. This should make the default rendering of the raw files the same as the in-camera jpeg (what the camera shows on the back even if you shoot raw) but still give you all the latitude of raw files. -
when I try and open a tab that is the same as the page I'm currently on it closes it self. Not when I type the full address, but when I use the arrow keys to select the url and press enter. I just don't like typing in the same address 5 times, when the older Firefox worked.

After the Apple logo appears, what happens then? Can you hear any sounds or if you tap on the screen, does it seem like apps can open or are you just seeing a black screen? You might have a hardware problem, but you can try restoring the software and see what happens.
Read this in its entirety before you do anything. Make sure you read the sections at the end about using recovery mode.
