Minimum configuration for localstorage=false nodes
We have a grid that provides data for multiple clients. Considering that the client is started with localstorage=false, and all requests are passed to the data nodes, what is the minimum cache-configuration that is required by the clients to participate in the cluster.
Edited by: tfanshteyn on Jul 31, 2009 6:54 AM
It is alright to have the following scheme defined in storage-enabled member:
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>app-scheme-1</scheme-name>
<service-name>DistributedScheme1</service-name>
<backup-count>1</backup-count>
<backing-map-scheme>
<read-write-backing-map-scheme>
<internal-cache-scheme>
<local-scheme>
</local-scheme>
</internal-cache-scheme>
<cachestore-scheme>
<scheme-name>jdbc</scheme-name>
<class-scheme>
<class-name>misc.MyCacheStore</class-name>
</class-scheme>
</cachestore-scheme>
<write-delay-seconds>{delay 5}</write-delay-seconds>
</read-write-backing-map-scheme>
</backing-map-scheme>
<autostart>true</autostart>
</distributed-scheme>
and client (storage-disabled) with:
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>app-scheme-1</scheme-name>
<service-name>DistributedScheme1</service-name>
<autostart>true</autostart>
</distributed-scheme>
But as Aleks has mentioned in the previous reply it is much easier to manage and distribute single cache configuration even though there a quite a few configs that can be different. Any "data" specific settings like CacheStore will only trigger where that Entry is, so on a localstorage=false nodes these settings are not required. But keep in mind as the applications grow managing multiple cache configurations can become quite problematic.

Bare minimum configuration for warehouse management
Hello,
For one of our Projects, there is a requirement of Warehouse Management merely just to enable the tracking of Material received to the Storage Bin level, as they manage the Inventory in Storage Bins in the existing Warehouses.
Other no major requirement is expected from WM like, automation of Putaway, etc.
Few of the Inventory scenarios are like Goods receipt, Goods Issue, Warehouse to Warehouse transfer, Bin to Bin transfer, Physical Inventory, Subcontracting for repairs, Vendor Consignment, also they will handle Project Special stock.
Now the configurations for Inventory Management are enabled for all the above processes. I now need to know, what are the bare mimimum configurations required so as to enable the WM related process, following each of the IM processes, like Putaway after Goods Receipt, Stock removal before Goods Issue, etc.
The Configuration for the Enterprise Structure to support Warehouse Management have been completed by creating the Warehouses & assigning the Storage locations to these Warehouses.
A detailed step by step process would be very helpful for me at this stage.
And i surely will assign points for all the useful answers.
Regards,
Zafar.Hi,
If you want to define new storage types other than the standard ones, please define them. Otherwise, you can assign
the existing storage types to the newly defined warehouse.
Also you have to define storage bin types and storage bin structures.
All this you can find under the IMG path:
SPRO->Logistics Execution->Warehouse Management->Master Data.

Minimum configuration for osx server?
I am getting a MacBook to add to an all-windows environment and want to use time capsule for backup. in addition, I'd like to run iTunes on a system so I was thinking about hitting eBay for a used mini that would be used for backup and media streaming. What is the minimum specs from a memory and CPU standpoint should I look for? Currently I have a windows server and NAS and have ~20 years of tech experience, but all on the windows, netware and x86 side.
Mac OS X supports up to 10 Users for File Sharing, so if all you need is File Sharing, the complexity of Server is not needed.
If you have another reason for requiring Server, its requirements are similar to Mac OS X of a similar version. Server is an I/O problem, so fast drives are needed, and a little bit more RAM than a "regular" desktop system. In Mavericks, running Server on a Mac used as a regular workstation is NOT recommended. -

How many Scan Listeners, we have to configure for 5 Node RAC?
Dear Professionals,
How many scan Listeners we need to configure for 5 Node RAC? Oracle will not allow us to create More than 3 scan's? What If i have one scan Listener per each for 1st 3 node's? what about remaining two Node's? How application user will connect to 4 or 5 Node? Can you please explain..? Forgive me, If am totally wrong?
Thanks
SagarEach of the 5 instances will register itself with the scan listener (using the instance parameter remote_listener). Thus, the scan listener is "aware" of the database instances on the other two nodes where it is not running. It can still redirect incoming connections to the local listeners on these nodes (registered as local_listener).

Questions related to the localstorage=false client restarted and join back
Hi, We are using the coherence 3.4.2 version. I notified a strange problem in our application, related to the coherence. I am posting here seeking for help. We are using JDK 1.6.0_16 on Linux 64 OS.
To simplify the problems, let me just say that we have 3 JVM running as now. One is we called the data server, starting with following JVM settings:
java -Xms1G -Xmx1G -server -Dlog4j.configuration=log4j.xml
-Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=/xxx/coherence_config.xml
-Dtangosol.coherence.ttl=0
-Dtangosol.coherence.log=log4j
-Dtangosol.coherence.clusterport=5511
-Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=true The other 2 JVMs will use the same JVM settings as above, except -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=false.
When I started the all servers in this order: data server -> one client jvm -> the other client jvm, I can see they all join into one cluster, and our application works fine.
Now, if I shutdown client1 and client2, and restarted them, the problems comes:
1) From the coherence log, I can see the client1 and client2 joined back in the cluster.
2) But when client1 is trying to get cache using the following api:
NamedCache cache = CacheFactory.getCache("cacheName");
Object o = (Object)cache.get(id);The cache object is there, but without any elements in it. So Object o will always to Null. But I know in this case, there is one element in the case, which I just put in before restarted client 1 and 2.
So in this case, I can get a cache object back, but without any element into it. This is not the case before the JVM restarted.
3) In the above case, the cache is defined as a replicated cache as following:
<cache-mapping>
<cache-name>cacheName</cache-name>
<scheme-name>ReplicatedScheme</scheme-name>
</cache-mapping>
<replicated-scheme>
<scheme-name>ReplicatedScheme</scheme-name>
<backing-map-scheme>
<local-scheme>
<scheme-ref>unlimited-backing-map</scheme-ref>
</local-scheme>
</backing-map-scheme>
</replicated-scheme>
<!-- Backing map scheme definition used by all the caches that do not require any eviction policies -->
<local-scheme>
<scheme-name>unlimited-backing-map</scheme-name>
</local-scheme>4) I tried to use the SimpleCacheExplorer example coming with the coherence to see if I can reproduce this case. But I can not. I use the same coherence.xml as our application. I used the same cache name in the SimpleCacheExplorer as in our application. I started 3 JVMs, one with localstorage=true, the other 2 with localstorage=false. Everytime, I restarted the other 2 JVMs, it can join back the cluster and get the value for the original key. So I am not sure which part in our application breaks this.
5) I list the coherence log below from our application. I added 2-3 lines comments just to list what happened then.
Any idea or hints about why this is happenning? Thanks for your help.Here is the log:

Skipping request for user policy assignments due to agent configuration for authority
Hello all,
Symptoms:
The Configuration Manager only shows the following actions:
Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
In Software Center there are no applications visible. Also the default 'IT Organization' is shown instead of the 'real' name.
The Confugration Manager:
shows in the tab 'General' the correct Management point. Connection type is 'currently intranet' (ok)
shows in the tab 'Site' the correct site code.
shows in the tab 'Components' all components as either 'installed' or 'enabled'. Only CCM Notification Agent shows 'Disabled'.
In SCCM 2012 under 'Client Settings' -> 'Default Settings' -> 'Client Policy' the setting 'Enable User policy on clients' has been enabled.
Done so far (without success):
Re-installed the MP
Run a query on the SCCM Database to check if there are any corrupt records. There are not.
Installed version 5.00.7958.1000
CCM Framework: 5.00.7958.1203
The computer is installed with a task sequence. There is a reboot after 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr (CM2012 R2 CU1)'.
Installation command of the SCCM Client (during OSD deployment):
SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSSLP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local SMSMP=demo-sccm.demoforest.local PATCH="%_SMSTSMDataPath%\OSD\TDS00020\KB2938441\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb2938441-i386.msp"
Content log files on the client:

Need Help regarding initial configuration for distributed cache
Hi ,
I am new to tangosol and trying to setup a basic partitioned distributed cache ,But I am not being able to do so
Here is my Scenario,
My Application DataServer create the instance of Tangosolcache .
I have this config.xml set in my machine where my application start.
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cache-config SYSTEM "cache-config.dtd">
<cache-config>
<caching-scheme-mapping>
<!--
Caches with any name will be created as default near.
-->
<cache-mapping>
<cache-name>*</cache-name>
<scheme-name>default-distributed</scheme-name>
</cache-mapping>
</caching-scheme-mapping>
<caching-schemes>
<!--
Default Distributed caching scheme.
-->
<distributed-scheme>
<scheme-name>default-distributed</scheme-name>
<service-name>DistributedCache</service-name>
<backing-map-scheme>
<class-scheme>
<scheme-ref>default-backing-map</scheme-ref>
</class-scheme>
</backing-map-scheme>
<autostart>true</autostart>
</distributed-scheme>
<!--
Default backing map scheme definition used by all the caches that do
not require any eviction policies
-->
<class-scheme>
<scheme-name>default-backing-map</scheme-name>
<class-name>com.tangosol.util.SafeHashMap</class-name>
<init-params></init-params>
</class-scheme>
</caching-schemes>
</cache-config>
Now on the same machine I start a different client using the command
java -Dtangosol.coherence.distributed.localstorage=false -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=near-cache-config.xml -classpath
"C:/calypso/software/release/build" -jar ../lib/coherence.jar
The problem I am facing is
1)If I do not start the client even then my application server cache the data .Ideally my config.xml setting is set to
distributed so under no case it should cache the data in its local ...
2)I want to bind my differet cache on different process on different machine .
say
for e.g
machine1 should cache cache1 object
machine2 should cache cache2 object
and so on .......but i could not find any documentation which explain how to do this setting .Can some one give me example of
how to do it ....
3)I want to know the details of cache stored in any particular node how do I know say for e.g machine1 contains so and so
cache and it corresponding object values ... etc .....
Regards
MaheshHi Thanks for answer.
After digging into the wiki lot i found out something related to KeyAssociation I think what I need is something like implementation of KeyAssociation and that
store the particular cache type object on particular node or group of node
Say for e,g I want to have this kind of setup
Cache1-->node1,node2 as I forecast this would take lot of memory (So i assign this jvms like 10 G)
Cache2-->node3 to assign small memory (like 2G)
and so on ...
From the wiki documentation i see
Key Association
By default the specific set of entries assigned to each partition is transparent to the application. In some cases it may be advantageous to keep certain related entries within the same cluster node. A key-associator may be used to indicate related entries, the partitioned cache service will ensure that associated entries reside on the same partition, and thus on the same cluster node. Alternatively, key association may be specified from within the application code by using keys which implement the com.tangosol.net.cache.KeyAssociation interface.
Do someone have any example of explaining how this is done in the simplest way .. -
Configuring WAR-Scoped Cluster Nodes Error
I did a test following the guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15357_01/coh.360/e15829/cweb_wls.htm#BABCDJGC
2.2.5.3 Configuring WAR-Scoped Cluster Nodes
i deploy coherece.jar and active-cache.jar, the following errors occurs at weblogic console
"Issues were encountered while parsing this deployment to determine module type. Assuming this is a library deployment."
but I can deploy them successfuly and ignore errors.
but then I deploy the test war app, deployment will be failed with following errors:
Caused By: weblogic.management.DeploymentException: Error: Unresolved Webapp Lib
rary references for "ServletContext@1391083548[app:CoherenceWeb module:Coherence
Web.war path:/CoherenceWeb spec-version:2.5]", defined in weblogic.xml [Extensio
n-Name: coherence, exact-match: false], [Extension-Name: active-cache, exact-mat
ch: false]
My question is how to fix it?Unfortunately, a WAR cannot refer a jar deployed as a share library in WebLogic. This is a limitation that will hopefully be fixed in future versions of WebLogic.
For no you will have to either package your application as an EAR, or bundle the coherence.jar inside your WAR under WEB-INF/lib/.
Hope that helps.

Differnece between Cardinality and Singleton for a Context Node
Dear SDN Community,
Can you please tell me what is the difference between the Cardinality and Singleton properties for a context node.
Thanks!
SuryaHi Surya
Lead selection
Leadselection is the property which is used to get the index of the selected row of the table
"OnLeadSelect" is the method used to fire an action when a row is selected
The Method wdContext.<node>().getLeadSelection() can be used to
find out the index of the selected element.
Cardinality
Any node or attribute that has the context root node as its immediate parent, is known as an independent node or attribute.
Any node or attribute that has some other node as its immediate parent, is known as a dependent node or attribute.
All context nodes are collections.
A node collection is composed of elements, where an element is an aggregation of the nodes immediate children (attributes and/or other nodes).
The cardinality property controls the number of elements a node collection may hold at runtime.
Every context node has a property called Cardinality. This property is composed of two values that
taken together, describe the maximum and minimum number of elements the node collection may hold
at runtime.
Cardinality Minimum: 0 or 1
Cardinality Maximum: 1 or n
Therefore, there are four possible cardinality values (specified as <Min>..<Max>)
0..1 Zero or one elements permitted
0..n Zero or more elements permitted
1..1 One and only one element permitted
1..n One or more elements permitted
Singleton
All independent nodes are forced to be singletons. This is because the context root node has one and only one element.
Singleton is boolean
TRUE : One instance will be created for all te nodes
FALSE : Every Element in the parent node collection,there will be a distinct instance of the child node.
Why Singleton
-Efficiency
-Less Memory
-Lazy Data Access(Creates instance only when needed,till then it will remain unprocessed)
Supply functions
Supply functions are the mechanism to repopulate child nodes when the lead selection in the parent node
changes. When a singleton child node is declared, you must also write an accompanying supply function.
The Web Dynpro Framework will then automatically call your supply function when the lead selection
in the parent node changes.

Would like to know if this is correct disk configuration for 11.2.0.3
Hello, please see the procedure below that I used to allow the grid infratstructure 11.2.0.3 oui to be able
to recognize mY EMC San disks as candidate disks for use with ASM.
we are using EMC powerpath for our multipathing as stated in the original problem description.I want to know if this is a fully supported method for
configuring our san disks for use with oracle ASM becuase this is redhat 6 and we do not have the option to use the asmlib driver.Please note that I have
been able to successfully install the gird infrastructure successfully for a 2 node RAC cluster at this point using this method.Please let me know if there
any issue with configuring disks using this method.
We have the following EMC devices which have been created in the /dev directory.I will be using device emcpowerd1 as my disk for the ASM diskgroup I will be
creating for the ocr and voting device during grid install.
[root@qlndlnxraccl01 grid]# cd /dev
[root@qlndlnxraccl01 dev]# ls -l emc*
crw-r--r--. 1 root root 10, 56 Aug 1 18:18 emcpower
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 0 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowera
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 1 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowera1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 16 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowerb
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 17 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowerb1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 32 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowerc
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 33 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowerc1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 48 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowerd
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 49 Aug 1 18:54 emcpowerd1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 64 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowere
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 65 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowere1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 80 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowerf
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 81 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowerf1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 96 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowerg
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 97 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowerg1
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 112 Aug 1 19:48 emcpowerh
brw-rw----. 1 root disk 120, 113 Aug 1 18:18 emcpowerh1
As you can see the permissions by default are root:disk and this will be set at boot time.These permissions do not allow the Grid Infrastructure to recognize
the devices as candidates for use with ASM so I have to add udev rules to assign new names and permissions during boot time.
Step 1. Use the scsi_id command to get the unique scsi id for the device as follows.
[root@qlndlnxraccl01 dev]# scsi_id whitelisted replace-whitespace --device=/dev/emcpowerd1
360000970000192604642533030434143
Step 2. Create the file /etc/udev/rules.d/99-oracle-asmdevices.rules
Step 3. With the scsi_id that was obtained for the device in step 1 you need to create a new rule for that device in the /etc/udev/rules.d/99-oracle-
asmdevices.rules file. Here is what the rule for that one device looks like.
KERNEL=="sd*1" SUBSYSTEM=="block",PROGRAM="/sbin/scsi_id --whitelisted --replace-whitespace /dev/$name",RESULT=="360000970000192604642533030434143",NAME="asm
crsd1",OWNER="grid",GROUP="asmadmin",MODE="0660"
( you will need to create a new rule for each device that you plan to use as a candidate disk for use with oracle ASM).
Step 4. Reboot the host for the new udev rule to take affect and then verify that the new device entry will be added into the /dev directory with the
specified name, ownership and permissions that are required for use with ASM once the host is back online.
Note: You will need to replicate/copy the /etc/udev/rules.d/99-oracle-asmdevices.rules file to all nodes in the cluster and restart them for the changes to
be in place so that all nodes can see the new udev device name in the /dev directory on each respective node.
You should now see the following device on the host.
[root@qlndlnxraccl01 rules.d]# cd /dev
[root@qlndlnxraccl01 dev]# ls -l asm*
brw-rw----. 1 grid asmadmin 65, 241 Aug 2 10:10 asmcrsd1
Step 5. Now when you are running the oui installer for the grid installation when you get to the step where you define your ASM diskgroup you should choose
external redundancy and then click on the change disk dicovery path and change the disk discovery path as follows.
/dev/asm*
Now at this point you will see the new disk name asmcrsd1 showing as a condidate disk for use wiith ASM.
PLease let us know if this is a supported method for our shared disk configuration.
Thank you.Hi,
I've seen this solution in a lot of forums but I do not agree or don't like at all; even if we have 100 luns of 73GB each.
so the thing is, as in any other unix flavor we don't have asmlib***just EMCPOWERPATH running on differentes unix/linux flavors we dont like either udev-rules, dm-path and stuff***
Try this as root user
ls -ltr emcpowerad1
brw-r----- 1 root disk 120, 465 Jul 27 11:26 emcpowerad1
# mknod /dev/asmdisks
# chown oragrid:asmadmin /dev/asmdisks
# cd /dev/asmdisks
# mknod VOL1 c 120 465
# chmod 660 /dev/asmdisks/VOL*
repeat above steps on second node
asm_diskstring='/dev/asmdisks/*'
talk with sysadmin and stoadm guys to garanty naming and persistents in all nodes of your RAC using emcpowerpath. (even after reboot or san migration)
