Minimum time period to call job

Hi, I have 2 questions.
1.) Is there any minimum time limit(job interval) to call a job?
2.) What all are the format through which we can import external files/Data? Like .csv and .txt
Thanks

1) Are you talking about the INTERVAL parameter for DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT, i.e. the minimum time between when one instance of a particular job finishes and the next instance is scheduled? Technically, that would be 1 second (INTERVAL is a DATE and date columns only have 1 second granularity). The job scheduler usually adds a second or two of uncertainty in when the job is actually started-- more if you have more jobs than JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES allows to run simultaneously.
2) I'm not sure what you're asking here. Perhaps you're looking for the SQL*Loader utility or external tables, which is just another interface to SQL*Loader.

• Minimum time period for 6602

I'm using 6602 counter with the application of ND_BUFFERED_PERIOD_MSR with countinuous buffer to measure the time period between the consecutive pulses. If I send in constant time period pulse from frequency generator at 300kHz, the board returns "dataLossError" while 250kHz pulses give no error at all. It means the minimum time period is about 3 to 4 microseconds. However, if I send random pulses at 1kHz average frequency, the card sometimes gives "dataLossError". It seems if there is a single pair of pulses with spacing less than 3 to 4 microsecond, the card gives "dataLossError" although most pulse pairs are separated by a long time. Is that right?
Thanks,

I would suggest you use a shipping example to measure your pusles. If I recall from your previous post, you are using CVI. So you could go to Help->Find Examples (see screen shot below) and select an appropriate example.

• C# - What's wrong with a table called JOBS? :(

Post Author: Gee
CA Forum: .NET
Hi
I've just moved up to .NET 2005. and am having a big problem right now with one report in particular.
The report uses an Oracle table called "JOBS". It worked just fine in .NET 2003. Now though, it comes up with the dreaded field name not known error.
So, I tried to just do a completely new report with just ONE field from the JOBS table on it. It doesn't want to know!
I then copied (so it was IDENTICAL) the table structure and data to a new one called "JOBSTEST". The simple report worked (once I'd changed it to use the JOBSTEST fields of course)
I deleted the original JOBS table, copied a new JOBS table from the JOBSTEST table and... it didn't work again!
So, what's wrong with having a table called "JOBS"? Because that seems to be the problem!
Oh... it works ok on the development machine. Just not any other. ALL other reports work fine!
Thank you so much for your time in helping me

• Use of MS Project Management 2010 to Manage Multiple projects over a given time period

Is there some information (article/s) I can research about using MS Project Management 2010 for managing multiple projects over a given time period? I'm being asked by a potential client to take a job as a Program Manager to manage five projects all
at once. Each of the projects has it's own MS Project Management software, project leader, and project team. An overall project plan has to be put together to manage this large project. There are some dependencies with these projects inorder to complete
on a specific date.
Thanks

SSCDML --
In order to manage this program of five projects using Microsoft Project 2010, I would recommend you do the following:
Create a shared resource pool file containing the resources in all five projects.
Connect each of the five projects as sharing files with the shared resource pool file to share the resources.
Create a master project for the program containing each of the five projects as subprojects.
In the master project, set cross-project links as needed to show dependencies between projects.
Hope this helps.

• Loading Period 0 - Time Period

Have a question in Hyperion Planning. We have a Time Period Dimension with two Children (Beg Balance and Year Total). Year Total has the usual childeren (Q1, Q2, etc) and the Q's have the usual children (Jan, Feb,...Dec). Where do people load Balance Sheet accounts? In our GL (PeopleSoft) we have a Period 0 which holds the roll-forward of the balance sheet accounts. I was thinking it gets loaded to Beg Balance, but in our outline, Beg Balance is ignored (~). Thx.

Technically speaking, you can always create an alternate base time period member that is dynamic calc and summarize show sum of year total and beg balance.
You can for example call this member "YearTotal with BegBalance" and the member formula would be something like (Jan+Feb+Mar+Apr.....+Dec+Begbalance).
Although the common approach is marking Balance Sheet accounts time balances as Last, it's still technically OK to mark them as Flow as long as you report the accumulated figures in Months. Balance Sheet accounts are always cumulative. You can use dynamic time series (YTD) to report cumulative reports using periodic amounts.

• Process 000004 did not confirm within the permitted time period

Hi
The process chain failed while activating the ODS with an error message :Process 000004 did not confirm within the permitted time period" . When repeated the failed step it went successufull. but want to know what can be the cause and steps to be taken in order to avoide this issue further.
Thanks
Ratan

Hi,
Whenever ODS activation goes there'll be some batch processes you can say as parallel processes running along with main job. Due to unavailability of resources i.e either bkgd or dialog processes soemtimes gets delayed and they gets canceled which leads to the failure of main ODS activation job...
may be in ur scenario the same thing might have happened, so when you had repeated the step if the resources are free it will be successful.
once chk in your system for canceled jobs, ther might be some job which relates to your process.

• Automatic update value after time period passes

Hi,
In my application on page 8 I have an item which value is to be changed from one value to another depending on a time period. At first the item has value 1. Then we set it on value 2 and we also set a time period, for example 5 days. So after that period the value should automatically change on the value 1.
On page 1 there is a region with a list entries, subjects which have the value 2 set. I want this list to change according the change of value.
Does anyone know how to do this? I am a bit clueless...
Thanks
Regards,
Leila

There appears to be logical issue here.
a) The value will be incremented only when user visits the Page 8 . If user does not visit Page 8 then the change will not occur
b) If the user visits Page 8 but does not save the change (commit) even then the change would not come into effect.
Can this not be handled through a scheduled job that runs on the underlying tables at per-determined intervals/time? Say , once a day?
If the above 2 points do not affect you then you can try the Process route.
i) Write a OnLoad Before Header or After header process on Page 8
ii) In this process find out whether the required/preset interval has elapsed on not
iii) If the criteria is met then change the value of the Page 8 as well as Page 1 items using bind variable sysntax in the Process
:P12_ITEM := '2' ; -- or whatever you want.
:P1_ITEM := :P12_ITEM;How to figure out the interval? If it is date/time based then use SYSDATE. If it is something else , you need to figure out the interval calculation that works for you.

Main is under a partition called Open PT. The same DID is under two other partitions (Office 2 and Office 3) where it forwards the call to an international number.
Their group has now requested that on certain holidays (thanksgiving, labor day, etc), all numbers be forwarded to Office 2 and another set of holidays (memorial day, presidents day, etc) forward to Office 3. I've looked at Unity holiday schedules and read over some options and it seems like I would have to get rid of the time period/schedules that I have set up in CUCM and set up a call handler with schedules and holiday schedules. How complex will this be? Can this even be done with the way they want it?

• Difficult time period calculations

I have a monthly report where I have to add up periods of time between different records, without counting any overlapping time twice. Each record has its own start and stop date/time. The length of time from each record's start to its stop can be anything from 1 minute to the entire month. So for example, if there was 1 record that covered the whole month, I wouldn't need to look at any other records, because the whole month is covered. But if not, then I have all these pieces of time covering various parts of the month, some overlapping, some not.
If A starts at 1/1/01 0800 and
stops at 1/1/01 1200, and
B starts at 1/1/01 0900 and
stops at 1/1/01 1300, then I want to see the combination of these 2 as 5 hours. Other records C, D, ... could be entirely within this time period, or completely disjoint, or partially overlapping it. Again, I can't count any overlapping time twice. I have some lengthy code that does the job, but it takes a long time to run, because I create temp records that reflect the time periods found so far, and I don't add any new temp records that overlap the ones already created. It takes a long time to do all the comparisons. Anybody have any clever ideas for doing this faster?

Mike,
I believe this should work for you:
DECLARE
CURSOR c1 IS
SELECT start_date, end_date
FROM test_table
ORDER BY start_date;
v_total_time NUMBER := 0;
v_start_date DATE;
v_end_date DATE;
BEGIN
FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
IF r1.start_date > NVL (v_end_date, r1.start_date - 1) THEN
v_start_date := r1.start_date;
ELSIF r1.end_date > v_end_date THEN
v_start_date := v_end_date;
END IF;
IF v_start_date IS NOT NULL THEN
v_total_time := v_total_time + (r1.end_date - v_start_date);
v_start_date := NULL;
v_end_date := r1.end_date;
END IF;
END LOOP;
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Total time: ' | | TO_CHAR (v_total_time) | | ' Days.');
END;

• TIMR6 :Time period indicator: Period

Dear All,
When i am uploading attendances in infotype 2002 for 103 employees through lsmw.
I am getting one field " TIMR6 :Time period indicator: Period" in Display field mapping and conversion rules step.
What is this called? why it will appear ? What is pupose of this indiacator? How to map it with source field?
could you pls explain in detail?
Because of this i am not getting the default value under subtype (Reg Attendance) while running the batch input
Thanks and Regards,
Prasad

Hello,
Male or female in 0002 is determined the field ANRED. (Mr. Ms.) based on this only the GESCH(Gender key is determined).
So if a employee is a male fill ANRED with 1 else with 2.
Thanks.

• Arbitrary time period calculation.

How to do time series calculations for custom time series which are not sequential.
We have time period called diet which is not sequential like calender date Example given below :-
May 2012 Diet starts from 24/04/2012 to 16/06/2012 And May 2011 Diet starts from 01/02/2011 to 31/05/2011 diff
100 50 50
we need to compare May 2012 diet to May 2011 diet and create a difference column and also need to calculate variance on this. Also need to add other dimension like geography and status
For this i tried to use Ago function but it wont allow us to calculate as they are not sequential
Let me know if there is any solution.
Thanks

• COPA and Fagalflexa loading failure while giving time period selection

Dear All,
While doing copa load the job is getting terminated in the r/3 system by giving dump Abap4 processor compute_int_plus_overflow.This error is coming when we give a time period and do a init this problem is coming,request you to pls tell if anybody had face this issue and the same issue we are facing while loading data from fagalflexa.
Request you to pls update fast.
Thanks,
Jyoti

compute_int_plus_overflow might be due to overfolw of value in any of the keyfigure.
Check whether any of the key figure value is exceeding the specified length... i think as the name suggest it must be a INT field.

• Change the period of a job

If I change the period of a job at runtime, how this job will be scheduled?
If this job is idle when I change its period. If the idle time has been larger than new period, will this job be invoked as soon as I set the new period?
If the idle time is still smaller than the new period, will this job be invoked in a time of (new_period - idle_time)?
I want to know the details of the transitional duration. THANKS A LOT :)

Hi,
Here are some answers . I have also included a test case below which is trivial enough that you should verify this for yourself.
If this job is idle when I change its period. If the idle time has been larger than new period, will this job be invoked as soon as I set the new period?It won't run immediately but it will run at its next scheduled time i.e. after a time less than the new_period - see test case below, but wait more than 2 minutes before doing set_attribute.
If the idle time is still smaller than the new period, will this job be invoked in a time of (new_period - idle_time)?Yes it will - see test case below, but wait less than 2 minutes before doing set_attribute.
I want to know the details of the transitional duration. As soon as you do a set_attribute the scheduler recalculates the next_run_date of the job and it will run at that date.
Here is the test case. How long you wait before doing the set_attribute determines whether you are testing case #1 or case #2.
grant create job to scott;
connect scott/tiger
-- test updating repeat_interval while job is enabled
begin
dbms_scheduler.create_job('j1',
job_type=>'plsql_block', job_action=>'null;',
repeat_interval=>'freq=hourly',enabled=>true);
end;
-- wait a few seconds for the job to run
select job_name, state, run_count, last_start_date, next_run_date
from user_scheduler_jobs ;
-- wait less than 2 minutes or more than 2 minutes
begin
dbms_scheduler.set_attribute('j1','repeat_interval','freq=minutely;interval=2');
end;
select job_name, state, run_count, last_start_date, next_run_date
from user_scheduler_jobs ;Hope this helps,
Ravi.
