Misleading Phone Reps

Hi all,
Yesterday I received my new iPhone5. Before activating or unboxing it I called in to phone support to ask some questions. Because, I'm thinking of switching to AT&T one of the reasons being that I can talk and browse data at the same time without wifi. The rep I spoke to, "Joel" said to me "oh you can do that with the new iPhone5 as well, it's a new feature for the iPhone5". So I decided to stick with Verizon and activated my phone. Needless to say, later that evening I decided to test out this "new feature" and was extremely disappointed that "Joel" had straight out misled and lied to me. My question is, have other people been told this by a call-in or a store rep? That's a pretty big lie in my eyes and makes me wonder how "Joel" thought I would not find out?

Maybe if you had googled "talk and data, iphone 5, verizon" you wouldn;t have wasted you time. A littel research goes along way.

Erica Phone rep from California call center said order is placed and awaiting supervisor's approval, but NOTHING was placed and no follow up.  I'm very displeased with Verizon customer Service.  I guess I should expect that, given they are this giant and why should they care about 1 customer, even if its a very loyal one.
I was told that my order for an iPhone is placed and all it need is to get an approval from supervisor for a $300 coupon off a regular priced device.  This "need supervisor's approval" apparently is how Verizon reps get people off the line and forget about any promises made.  I called to follow-up and was told that someone from the call center will call me back.  Guest What??? No one did, even after I went to the corporate store in downtown San Francisco and spoke to the store manager there.
I guess I should lower my expectations about a company which spends billions on advertisement, but delivers empty promises.

  • Comcast A-Hat Phone Rep Retaliation

Had a bad customer service experience with a phone rep and threatened to cancel my Quad-play because of his attitude. First, all services was cut off, probably so the transcripts would not be sent out. Then my account user name has changed as well as my forum user name. Of course, now the "old user name" can not be used again. Fluck, I never changed it. I called to report the unauthorized user name changes and was told I would get a call back.

  • Complaint against Misleading Sales Reps

    Hi there
I bought a hp laptop for my family on 23rd March from BestBuy Halifax while buying that I was told that there is a Geek Squad protection plan available for my laptop which would be for two years at 19.99 per month. I was a bit skeptical but Sales rep told me that I will have a full month to decide about the protection plan and can get that cancelled within that month "No Questions Asked". I took the plan with this peace of mind that I have a full month to decide. At home I calculated that I will be paying more then the actual amount of my laptop so i decided otherwise. Went in the store today to get the policy cancelled but instead was shocked to hear that though my cancellation of policy is still "no questions asked" but i have to pay them 150 bucks for service charges.............for some stupid software which they downloaded. Now if I had been told this in the first place BEFORE doing anything ........that in case I plan to cancel my policy I will have to pay 150 bucks I would never have given them the go ahead.
This is anything but an example of professional behaviour rather  it feels more like a scam. The fact is that when they tell you that you have a choice of cancelling this policy actually there is no choice. Choice is to either pay them 20 bucks each month or pay them 150 bucks at once which actually doesnt make any sense.

    Hello Omer,
I hope the new HP laptop you purchased is working well for your family! Geek Squad Protection (GSP) is meant to give you peace of mind, knowing your devices are covered should issues arise. With that said, in the occasion where our customers don’t feel the benefit of the service fits their needs, we offer the ability to have the plans cancelled, and refunded if applicable. I apologize if you experienced a lack of professionalism when speaking with our store associates regarding a refund.
I believe the first issue here may be due to a possible miscommunication at the store while making your purchase. To my knowledge, we don’t offer monthly billed GSP plans on laptop computers, only plans that are paid in full during the purchase. This leads me to believe you may have purchased other services, possibly tech-support related. To know for sure I’ll need some more information from you.
At your earliest convenience, please send me a private message including the following:
Customer Service PIN located at bottom of your receipt
Full name of person who made the purchase
Phone number used while making the purchase
My Best Buy member number (if you have it)
To send me a private message, make sure you’re logged into your account and simply click the link in my signature. When I receive the information above, I’ll research the issue further and offer assistance where I can! Thanks for posting on the forums, and I hope to hear from you soon.

  • Customer service complaint / Rude phone rep Rachel

I am a 10+ year loyal Verizon Wireless customer.  I have long sung the praises of Verizon and convinced my family members to use Verizon..which they do.  I have had the occasional...I think 2 past minimal overages and have happily paid for those overages.  Recently I have added my mother to my account along with my fiance and 80+ year old aunt to my plan.   Our bill is now $289.00 a month.  2 months ago we had an overage of 17 minutes (which we paid) with no other months coming close to our 700 minutes allowed for in our current plan.  Today I get my current bill and there is an overage of 241 minutes resulting in a $110.44 charge.  Being such a loyal and long standing customer with Verizon I thought Verizon may be willing to adjust my last months bill of overages if I increase my plan to the next tier.  WOW!  I sure was wrong about that.  What I did get was a "customer service"  girl (Rachel) that was rude, robotic, condescending and extremely unprofessional.  All of this after I explained to her that I know she gets many calls from people that do not treat her well...I tried to assure her that I was not one of those people, that I understood that she was not truly in charge and to please stop cutting me off and speaking over me and that she was upsetting me and making me feel very uncomfortable.  She apologized in the all too familiar condescending way we all know too well, "I'm so sorry if I'm upsetting you."  Really?  I doubt it since after again explaining to her that she was making me feel uncomfortable and again requesting that she please transfer me to someone else she refused.  She refused multiple times for my request to be transferred to someone else that I could speak with.  When I asked to speak to her supervisor she just answered rudely that she was a supervisor.  When I stated that surely she was not the supervisor of the entire Verizon she said there was no one else I could speak to.  Really?  All of this from Verizon Wireless...a company I have been a loyal customer for 10+ years?
[Edited to comply with Terms of Service - employee number removed but available internally]

I live in an area where I can not get Broadband or other internet service. Using a Verizon Jetpack is the only way that I can have service. I opened my account and prepaid for the first month of service. During the first few days I had Verizon reps calling and claiming that I owed a thousand dollars and that they needed my credit card number. I refused to give them my credit card number and hung up. I called customer service and asked if I owed anything on my account only to be told that I didn't owe anything.
A few weeks later, I got my first bill. It was for way more than my monthly plan but it was not anywhere close to the amount of money that the reps that called were asking. Apparently as a Verizon customer, I am supposed to prepay my bill for the current month and the following month during every billing cycle, which is not in my contract. It means I have to pay 2X of my monthly fee every month.
Every time I have a  question, I get the run around and no one knows how to answer my question.
How do I delete the incoming text messages from unwanted strangers on the Jetpack?
How do I block unwanted texts coming to my device?
I could go on but its pointless because no one knows the answer.
Yes, I have talked to Rachel, she was one of the reps that called me up and asked for my credit card number.
If I had a choice, I would switch.

  • Returning phone question?!

About three weeks ago I got the blackberry classic. After ten days of using the device I decided it wasn't for me and returned it within the 14 day return period and went ahead and got the Note Edge after paying the $35 restocking fee. I'm not completely sold on this phone just yet, but I recall the rep saying, "that once I switch the Blackberry for the Note, that I wouldn't be able to exchange the Note for something else, even if I pay another restocking fee." Does anyone know if this is true?

  • How can you  automatically disable data on a phone when the user hits the limit?

One Verizon phone rep said she would take care of it for me.  Obviously that didn't happen so Verizon robbed me of $50 in overage fees.
Next Verizon store rep told me to go online and do it.  Still haven't figured it out.  So, anyone know the answer?
Not Thrilled at all with the amount of time I've spent trying to get this accomplished.

That gets trickier, you can install apps to monitor but stopping usage may require FamilyBase from Verizon at an additional monthly cost.

  • My 3gs has quit working as a phone at

my iphone 3gs has decided it will no longer work as a phone.  at&t has checked it out and says it should work.  it will not connect to the systm but all other features work. any sugestions

You can do both, whatever is more convenient to you.  As long as VZW gets its hands on the old device you will be good to go.  Replacements under the warranrty require the user to turn in the old device to VZW.  If your old device is not returned then you will be charged a fee for an entirely new device.  Purchasing a tracking number for a shipment of this kind would be a good idea if you choose to send it in.  Otherwise dropping it off at a store is the safest route you can take.
I would suggest contacting VZW phone support on this one and running through your options.  The VZW phone rep can coordinate a delivery to your local VZW store if they do not already have one in stock.  You can also turn in the old device in person to rule out any non-returned device fees.

  • Treo 680 GSM unlocked has no phone, no radio!

Hello!  I had a treo 680 refurbished last year, and since I had already bought a 755p and switched carriers, I just held onto it... Well, I just tried to give it to a friend of mine, and it the phone won't turn on... After chatting with some foreign phone rep at Palm for about an hour, she said the phone was defective, long after my warranty for it has run out.... Ugh!  Anyway, at first it would try to connect to the network but eventually time out...  I thought that maybe by doing the ROW 1.12 update I could "trick" it into working again... I had a ton of problems doing the update, and after doing it with the SD version, I'm pretty sure the phone hardware inside is screwed...  It now shows the 1.12 as the phone version, but it won't the phone cannot turn on...  Anybody have any ideas?  I have an old 680 laying around that had a broken screen -- any way to switch some component out from the old one without screwing this one up in the process?  Thanks

  • TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PHONE

I just wanted to lodge a complaint about Verizon Fios Phone Reps.  I lost my dial tone on my phone and it comes back sporadically.  In any case, that is not acceptable.
So I call Verizon and chat with the representative.  I am not in the best of moods at this point because I have to go through this rigamarole of answering all these questions which were all answered before -- and told AGAIN that the problem is in my home -- which it is NOT -- but that is what they are seing on their screen -- as if what is reported to them by their computers are always correct.
    Whatever.
So, schedule the appt.  They cannot NARROW their appt window down except to say it will be ALL DAY SATURDAY.  THEN adding insult to injury - they say that if the problem is in the home -- that I will have to pay for it.  Ok -- whatever.  I tell them that if the problem is not in the home and I have to wait all day for Verizon to show up -- does this mean that Verizon pays me my day rate?
I understand that they have to say this but this particular rep repeated it four times over the conversation -- whatever.  Just set up the appt.  WHY CAN'T THE NEW YORK OFFICE CLOSE THE SERVICE WINDOW TIME FRAME To either in the morning or in the afternoon?  Why all day?  If other companies can close the time frame -- why can't verizon?
Over and over he repeated that I would have to pay -- just because a screen tells him the problem is in the home. IT IS NOT.  There was a heavy rain here on Wed and usually what happens is that the lines get wet and the phones get all static-y and I guess this time -- the lines just went down.  The dial tone comes in and out.
Also, I checked all my phones by connecting and disconnetcing as verizon's ROBOT told me.  And it was confirmed that the problems were not my phones.
In any case -- Verizon --- your customer service SUCKS and I will make sure to tell everyone that I can.

I'm sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue.

I've had service for several years and this is the first time I've really needed support and I'm very dissappointed!!  I guess I will have to switch to cable or satellite.  DirecTV keeps sending me super promotions to switch back.

  • Droid Charge now a FREE phone :O

    Wow.
Amazon.com: Samsung Droid Charge (Verizon Wireless): Cell Phones & Accessories
Free $15 in App store credit too

I caught this deal at AmazonWireless about a week and a half ago.  $119.99 on 2 year renewal.  No tax.  It's the first time I bought a phone anywhere but the Verizon corporate store.  Everything has gone well and I would do it again.  Got the $15 Amazon credits for MP3s, Kindle and Amazon Apps (5 bucks each).  The phone also came with a card for $25 credit at the Samsung Media Hub.  Very happy with this price.
The only drawback in using Amazon Wireless (or any other dealer except Verizon) is a separate agreement to keep the phone on the line for 180 days (6 mos) so the retailer can get their rebate from the manufacturer.  If you swap out the phone before that, you get hit with a separate $250 charge.  I only realized this could be a problem after I bought the phone.  I was speaking to an Amazon Wireless phone rep who was helping me get my phone provisioned at Verizon.  I mentioned that I was keeping my Storm2 in case I went to Europe since I could just swap the Charge out for the Storm and use it in Europe.  She then informed me about the penalty.  I asked if it would apply if I only swapped the Charge out for a week or two.  After putting me on hold to check with her supervisor, she came back and said that ANY INTERRUPTION in having the Charge on the line would trigger the penalty.  The problem may be with the manufacturer, but I'm not sure.
I don't have any plans to go to Europe in the next six months, but I thought I would mention this since it could bite someone in the butt.  Overall, I would buy from Amazon again.  $269 plus tax (after $30 NE2) from Verizon vs. $119 with no tax from Amazon.  Very happy here!

  • Anyone in Florida panhandle get thier phone early?

I'm in fort walton beach and i just ordered my X on the 25th through a phone rep. I got a projected ship date of 9/09 but from the looks of it some people are getting thier phones alot earlier some depending on area just wondering if anyone in my area got thiers early and if it shipped out of houston tx like mine is supposed to at some point

We are always shipping items as soon as they are available. Sometimes that means getting it earlier than expected. But know you can check out the status of your order Here For Order Status Hope this helps.

  • "Not sure when your phone is going to be here."

So I pre-ordered the iPhone when it was first available, and was very happy with how quickly it got here. I enjoyed it for a day until the screen froze. Called up Verizon, who said they were very sorry for the inconvenience and with so many phone going out, they expect there to be some problems. Said I should expect my new one in 2-6 days. Well on the 6th day, call up Verizon to hear this: Oh it seems that the phone rep. entered your phone into the backordered phones, so we are not sure when yours will come in. We will however, keep you updated on the status.
So, I get a lemon for a phone, get placed on backorder status, and am not without a phone in a job that requires a cell phone. Thanks so much.

I still have the previous phone, but can't even answer a phone call. Besides, I'm not going to pay for the data package on a phone that can't even access the internet.
You don't have to pay for the data package (unless your old phone is a model that requires one).  Just reactivate your old phone by dialing *228 and selecting option 1.  Then, go online to MyVerizon and remove any data package that you don't want.  It will be re-added automatically when you activate your replacement iPhone.  In the meantime, the old phone will be active on your line and able to call and text.

  • At my wits end: about to end my twenty year association with Adobe

Last month, while travelling overseas, I was unpleasantly surprised to have my Mastercard declined when trying to rent a car... after talking to my bank it transpired that the card had been cancelled due to concerns over the recent security breach at Adobe. I had to pay to have a new card couriered to me in Europe.
On returning I found that my Creative Cloud subscription had been cancelled because Adobe could not get a payment authorised on the credit card number that had been compromised by their bungling incompetence.
No worries, thought I, I'll change the credit card number and all will be fine and dandy. No such like - there was no option available to me on the website to update my credit card details.
So I tried the support live chat... no real joy there... the rep initially wanted to fob me off with apromise of a callback "within 24 hours" - now I don't know about anybody else, but sitting by the phone for 24 hours waiting for it to ring is really not an option, so eventually he agreed that someone would call within the hour.
Someone did call back, then after taking my credit card details and processing my payment I found that I still could not access any of my CC apps. Eventually a "technical expert" was summoned to remote into my machine - he played around for a couple of minutes before deciding that it would not work for 24 hours... as I was still talking to the phone rep I told him this was unacceptable... a half-assed workaround was suggested that it may be possible to install PS CS 6 - after establishing that this would require uninstalling CC, downloading 6, installing it, and then reversing the entire process the next day, and having been promised that everything would definitely be working normally in 24 hours, I decided that would be more trouble than it was worth, and I'd just wait until the next day.
26 hours later - it's still not working. Any app I launch drops out telling me I need to renew my subscription. I can see in my Plan Information that I have two CC accounts under my Adobe ID - a free one and a year subscription... the free one is clearly overriding the one I have paid for, showing me 2 Gb cloud availability and only allowing me to download trial versions of Apps.  So I call support. Clueless rep with very difficicult to understand accent complete ignores what I tell her about this and starts her script to trobleshoot my machine. Has me exit CC, log out, log back in, and still PS tells me I need to renew my subscription... PPro behaves the same... we log out and log in again, no help, reboot my machine, still no help... she then has me move my hosts file, no help, and put it back again, then has me uninstall PS CC... then has me download the Adobe cleaner tool. then run it, and then after hearing all the options available tells me to take the quit option instead of actually running it...
Then we change permissions on a bunch of folders so that everyone has full control of them instead of just me, despite my protestations that I am the only user on the machine and an admin with full control permission already. Needless to say that fixed nothing.
Next we uninstall all my CC apps - at her insisitence I also have to clear my preferences... I'm far from happy about that, but have no choice. The we run the cleaner tool again, and again take the quit option since she didn't like either of the options available. Then we download the CC app and I'm unable to download anything but trial apps, Her next guess was to turn off my firewall and AV software, again not the slightest difference.
At this point we've wasted over an hour already and got nowhere, so I ask her to escalate it to somebody who might have a clue what they are doing. After a long pause she tells me that the response time will be 72 hours... unacceptable, I ask to speak to her supervisor... he tries a couple of other things and then takes my number, reads it back and promises to call me by 3:30pm eastern time (Yesterday afternoon)... no call arrives and I then have more useful and exciting things to do than worry about graphics software. At 7pm I get an email from Adobe claiming to have called my old telephone number, not the one I gave the rep, and only got voicemail.... I responded to this email immediately via the support portal requesting a callback at the correct number, however no call has been received.
I have now lost three days work because of this issue, whihc is all basically down to Adobe's security breach in the first place. I had serious reservations about the subscription model when it was launched. This episode has confirmed all of my worst fears. Adobe is clearly unable to manage and support the model effectively, and I am stuck here unable to do a damn thing until they get their act together... very unhappy and about to start exploring alternative software

@Britkev: I feel and understand your grief. I was a long-time Adobe loyalist since version 3 of Photoshop, and have since then used (and taught) pretty much all their applications in my professional and personal work. At some point I was an Adobe Certified Expert for four of them (PS, ILL, IND, Acro).
18 months ago I decided enough is enough - even before the termination of the perpetual licenses I foresaw where Adobe was going with CC, and I opted out before things would escalate.
Since then I have switched to other tools that are just as powerful or an improvement. Reading all these miserable accounts of bad Adobe customer support and CC related problems unfortunately only confirm my initial doubts two years ago.
It's a crying shame - Adobe used to be a company I really enjoyed being a customer of - now my CS6 installation lies somewhere on my hard drives collecting dust. Well, I use it as a conversion tool sometimes to convert legacy files to ones I can integrate into my new workflow.
As an instructor I now advocate the use of other software to my students. Something I couldn't have imagined a couple of years ago.
And I now I am not the only one. I think it is important to take a stand against this type of digital serfdom. My fear is that other companies will follow, though. I will continue to refuse to become a serf, though - even if I could subscribe to CC for $1 for the coming 10 years or more. It's about the principle. It's about choice.
Apologies for the rant: I just feel that CC is the worst thing to happen to this industry.
