Missing Descriptior with Toplink 1013 and Jdev 1013

Hi guys,
I keep getting the following error when I try to run my project:
Exception [TOPLINK-6007] (Oracle TopLink - 10g release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) (Build 050912)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.QueryException
Exception Description: Missing descriptor for
The project is a Web Application with a Model and View/Controller projects. The Model has a Toplink project in it and I created the mappings, classes, and the sessions.xml for it.
What am I doing wrong? This seems to work in Jdev 1012.

* Does the sample client work ok when you use sessions.xml?
* What is the sequence of steps you are taking to create view project and in which project you are getting the errors? A detailed sequence of steps will be helpful in reproducing this issue.
* If you are running into this issue in your view project using ADF and your use case simply involves reading objects, perhaps you can try writing a plain sample client in java yourself to simulate the use case and see whether this client works.

* Take a look at my response to your other question at Mutliple writeable mappings in Jdev 1013 and setup your mappings correctly.
* If you are running into this issue in the view project with the use of ADF, then try regenerating the datacontrol and recreating your view project. Make sure your logging in the sessions.xml is turned on.

Unacceptable performance of Automap in TopLink Workbench and JDev

Is anyone out there actually using the Automap functionality?
In both versions 9 and 10 I have found it to be hit and miss. Some object automap instantly and others take eons and peg my CPU.
I don't really understand what could possibly be taking up sooo many cycles. In these cases I swear I won't use the feature again, but it is so fast at other times that I'm always tempted to do it.
Is anyone aware if Oracle is planning to do anything about this? I will open a TAR for this, but was interested to here some feedback from the general forum.

I use a fair bit in both JDeveloper and the Workbench with small projects ranging from 1 to 20 descriptors without any noticeable performance degradation. Of course, most of my work is with 10.1.3 previews and builds.
Are your issues typically with larger quantity of descriptors, greater complexity, or are you seeing this across the board?

Please Help With TopLink and JNDI datasource

I have been trying to figure this out for a while now and I am stuck. I have a simple J2EE project that uses toplink to access 1 table with 2 coulumns (JDev 10.1.3).
I setup a sessions.xml and in there set my data Source Location to be my JNDI datasource.
In my tlMap1 file I am required to put a Deployment Connection and no matter what I do it uses that connection. Is there some way I can make it use the JNDI connection that I specified in sessions.xml instead?
i turned on debugging and it gives the following:

It looks like it sees the JNDI connection but it uses the "user name" parameter from tlMap1 instead. I am really getting desparate and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to be such a pest about this but I have a bit more info now. If I go in to my tlMap file and select <none selected> for my deployment connection, the compiler gives me warnings and the mapping status report gives an error but it uses the jndi source from session.xml.
Does anyone know of a way to do this (use the jndi datasource) without these compiler warnings? I just have this feeling I am doing something wrong, something that should be simple but nevertheless is turning out to be nearly impossible for me to figure out.

I also just tried dragging my folder of music int he playlist and it duplicated all of my songs? My playlist was at 5k now it's at 10k becuz of 3 duplicates of songs. Is there a way to delete multiple duplicate files?

Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

Hot delpoyment with TopLink and Stateless Session Beans

What is the recommended procedure for making hot deployment of Stateless session beans work with toplink in WLS 7.0sp1 and oc4j (9.0.3)
My current setup is as follows using WLS 7.0sp1:
A stateless session bean is accessing toplink enabled persistent java classes via the SessionManager. I'm currently using the class loader of the stateless session bean:
* Method in stateless session bean
* Return the TopLink Session (based on the wls stateless session bean demo)

return (Server)SessionManager.getManager().getSession("ejb_sessionbean", this.getClass().getClassLoader());
Everything is working as such. My session bean can read and write the persistent java classes. However if I redeploy the stateless session bean jar file the toplink session is not reinitalized. This means that new settings in the session.xml are not used. I addition I get other errors.

This is a recent post note I found on the same topic:
It all hinges on whether the TopLink ServerSession class has
been loaded by a classloader which is actually thrown away
during the hot deployment process. If this is the case, then
hot deployment causes the ServerSession to go out of scope
and finalize methods take care of logging it out properly.
If you deploy your TopLink Project on the Sytem class path then
it definately won't work. You'd have to restart the server every time.
But if the TopLink Project is deployed inside of an .ear file
and if you pass the correct ClassLoader to the
SessionManager.getSession( .... ) call then TopLink Session will
be re-started when you hot deploy the .earBased on this, the solution might be to deploy your EJBs in an ear file. Everything else looks OK. Can you try this and let us know?

Unless you subscribe to Match, you will have to transfer your non-iTunes stuff from your old computer:

If you want to copy non-iTunes music off of your iPod (eg, if your old computer doesn't exist), you'll need to use a third party program. I don't know of any free ones anymore, but if you google, you can find several in the $19 range.

Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

How to Create and Remove CMP Entity with Toplink in same transaction??

Hi, i have a problem to create and delete cmp intances with toplink.
I create a entity bean and remove the same entity bean in the same transaction.
ie. my method have this code:
bean a = homeBean.create(pk);
a.remove();
bean a = homeBean.create(pk);
this code throws a javax.ejb.DuplicateKeyException
Toplink not remove CMP, execute the two calls of create first.
What configure toplink to support this case ??
Is this possible ??
I Can't controling the transaction manualy i'm using CMP entity beans with CMT.

If you want to import the utils package into your code, then the location of the utils package has to be in your CLASSPATH. JDeveloper uses libraries to define a project's CLASSPATH.
I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but you might want to read the information about packages and class libraries in the online documentation. It's under:

How to map an large XML document to the XMLType with TopLink in JDev

We need to map an XML document in the Java String to an XMLType column. If the XML document has less than 4000 characters, we have no problems by using the DirectToField mapping. However, once the XML document has more than 4000 characters, using the DirectToField mapping, we got the error: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink - 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) (Build 060118)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DatabaseException
Internal Exception: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
Then we have tried to use the "Type Conversion" mapping, to map it to the database type (Clob or NClob --oracle.toplink.oraclespecific). we got:

Thanks Matt! It works fine by using DirectToXMLTypeMapping.
However, to get it work is not smooth. In particularly, we use Jdev in our project and Jdev has not included this feature yet. Therefore, I had to use the TopLink Workbench to create the descriptor file and cut&paste to the description file that generated by JDev. And also xdb.jar has to be part of the classpath.
Then I come to an question -- how can we take some features that only provided by the TopLink Workbench into the Jdev environment without having to hack around?

Where is my missing toolbar with - file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools & help. Where has it gone and how do I get it back?

I am missing the tool bar which goes directly underneath the blue Mozilla/Firefox banner. My other tool bar remains unchanged eg. back/forward buttons, refresh page button, etc. are still there and work normally. Where are my bookmarks and how do I get them back?

The very top bar, with mini,mize and close is missing -how can I reveal it?

Go find the graphic in question, and open it in its native program. The problem will have to be fixed there.
