Missing dimension members - - initial extract date question

We are configuring and implementing the out-of-the-box analytics. In the DAC, we set the initial extract date to be Jan 1 2006. It appears that when we run our initial full load ETL, it only loads suppliers that have been modified after Jan 1 2006. Suppliers prior to that are missing.
Considering that there are facts that can be associated to suppliers before that initial Jan 1 2006 date, we are noticing a problem. Is my understanding correct and how do we resolve this?

Yes, I have set this $$INITIAL_EXTRACT_DATE parameter as you mentioned, but this is working fine in case 1 and NOT working in case 2.
I am using the same versions of DAC, Informatica and BI Apps in both the cases. Only the source system is different.
In case 1, its not an initial full load.
in case 2, its an initial load.

We are configuring BI Apps 11.1.1.7.1 For HRMS and Financials. HRMS data should extract from '2010-01-01' and Financials Data should extract from '2012-01-01'
is it possible?
Source system: EBS 12.1.3
OBIEE: 11.1.1.7
BI APPS: 11.1.1.7.1
ODI: 11.1.1.7.0
OS: Windows server 2008 R2
by default 'Configure Initial Extract Date' to set the value of INITIAL_EXTRACT_DATE to '2005-01-01'.

ITs confusing point. Cause on Configuration manager i am able to see 'Initial Extract Date' for HRMS also and in Financials also.
I created two separate Implementation projects respectively HRMS and Financials. so whether 'Initial Extract Date' can be setted Different for both.

Is it possible to change the dimension order when extracting data from HFM?

Hello,
When accessing Consolidation/Extract/Data is it possible to change the dimension order of the extract rather than extracting the standard order?
I can see you can change the dimension order visually by going to "Reorder dimensions" but this does not carry through to the actual extract.
If its not possible using this method is there another method? Trying to avoid using smartview for this purpose.

Missing dimension members in 7.1.3/SQL2000

After shared members are added to dimension, original members disappear.
The dimension has two branches, project and application. Each builds from two rules, one for the hierarchy and one for the leaves, called "requests". The project requests load first, the application requests are implied shared. After the project requests load, all are present. After the application hierarchy and requests load, the requests are not labeled "shared" and the project requests are missing. No error files are generated. The cube was released in spring, and was working in May, when the UAT copy was made from it which still works. No modifiications have been made since. Any ideas on what could have caused this?

Sounds like you have "allow moves" turned on, and have not flagged the properties of the new members as shared.
It's a relatively easy fix, but requires you to understand the relationship between the "remove unspecified" setting and issues with shared members getting moved. Essentially, you cannot remove a shared member without going through a little extra effort, so keeping the base members intact is easy -- but making changes to shared structures is not.
That might be a bit confusing -- let me give an example: Member "Shared1" under "Parent1" is referenced in the new file as belonging to "Parent2", if the attribute is shared, it will not cause the base member to move, but it ALSO won't cause the shared member under "Parent1" to be removed, either. You end up with a "Shared1" under both "Parent1" and "Parent2". The fix requires that you turn on the "Remove Unspecified" option, and now you must list all members -- so you get back to the need to specify the base members as WELL as the shared members in the current load. It's not quite a catch-22, but pretty close.
Summary: Give the child member (assuming parent/child reference) an "Property" column that contains an "S" in it; turn "Allow Moves" off, and "Remove Unspecified" on. Now be sure to include the full dimension in your build.
There may be an alternative, but you usually end up with cleaning up the duplicated shared or some other side effect.

We were trying to adjust the # of prune days for an incremental load, when we discovered the change was having no effect.
Our situation - JDE*
Looking at the parameters in DAC, we found that the incremental condition in the SDEs is:
date >= *$$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE*
In DAC, this parameter expands to:

Now, if I look at the *$$LAST_EXTRACT_DATE* parameter (used in EBS SDEs)
It expands to:

Conclusion and question*
Obviously the Julian date conversion is required in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE, but apparently the prune days are being considered in $$LAST_EXTRACT_DATE and not in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE.
An obvious fix is to use @DAC_SOURCE_PRUNE_REFRESH_TIMESTAMP in $$LAST_EXTRACT_JDEDATE, but I don't know if that would have any side effects. I'll test it.
I'll raise a SR with Oracle, but wanted to check if you guys had seen this before.

How to automate handling of dimension members? (master data loads)

Hi,
We want our users to be able to upload master data (i.e. dimension member data) from a flat file. It is only possible to upload transactional data from a flat file via the Data Manager...
Any suggestions?

Hi Peter,
1. use BULK INSERT to load the flat file into SQL SERVER and automate using the SQL job or Windows schedule job. Then call the AdminTask_MakeDim package in DM. This is also be scheduled in BPC DM.
You can also use SSIS packages to load flat file data into the SQL SERVER table.
2. SSIS packages are not complex, you should know to use it. Basically have learnt using these SSIS packages after started working in BPC Datamanager. You can find various online tutorials on SSIS packages.
Flow of data should be:
Flat file - staging table in BPC database - copy from staging tbale to mbr<dimension> table - Admintask to process Dimension.
The structure of staging table should be identical with mbr<dimension> table or mbr<dimension> table should be a subset of Staging table.
To schedule the BPC - DM packages:
Open the eDATA menu - 'Run Package' window. You have a option of 'New automation', use that to create schedules on SSIS packages (can be used for both BPC standard packages and customized packages).

You can try by VBA into EXCEL, prepare the dimension member sheet and process. Basically it depends on our knowledge / ease on technology .
I never had a chance to try on this. By visualising, this is possible but ensure on the data type loading into the EXCEL.
example, CompCode is 0310, while loading into EXCEL load as 310... omit the 0 in the front.
Try and share with us how it works.

Changes in hierarchy dimension members causes EVDRE Errors retrieving data

I am facing the problem while retrieving the data in Evdre this is the following situacion:
1. BPC 7.5 NW SP 08 is used.
2. Suppose that you have a template where you defined SELF,DEP for an account dimension, you expand and refresh normally, and retrieved data OK.
3. Your business case makes that you have to move one of the dependant member of the hierarchy to another parent
then you go to mantain dimension member and change the parent of the member in question, finally you process dimension, and put available set status.
4. Yo re-open Template or refresh dimension members from the server in order to see update hierarchy in account dimension
5. After expanding and refreshing the evdre, shows and error "...while retrieving the data.. "
6. I suppose the way to fix it is to reverse the change in dimension member, so I change for initial parenth but error continue.
What do you recommend for fix it? is there any note which solve it?

Could you confirm us what is the the path of that XML file of dimension thought BW - UJFS?
The only thing that correct problem is doing the following but not should be the best way:
1. Supress Account dimension in application
2. Delete dimension
3. Recreate Dimension and process it
4. insert dimension into application
5. Refresh Evdre and then works fine!
Is there any Sap note about it or something else to check?

Import Comments data and Dimension Members from csv file via Data Manager

I have two questions regarding the data manager.
Q1.Is it possible to import "Comments" from the csv file via Data Manager?
We'd like to import the amount with "Comments".

but I could not find any relevant sample package for this.
(I tried to import the members by using "Import" package, but it failed...)

Hi Fumi,
In this case, I would suggest you to create a customized SSIS package which will fill-in the "Comment<APP>" table, according to the csv file you have. I do not know any standard package that allows you to import comment the way you would like...

Error when extracting data from ETL - Missing messages and missing InfoIdoc

Hi All,
We are using BW 3.0 and extracting data from other source systems through Informatica Powercenter (ETL). The system is working fine but when we try to extract data on 31st Dec , we get the following error. Only this load gives the error and all the other load to other data targets are going fine. All the data are one-to-one mapped from ETL to BW.
Error messages from Monitor -Status tab:-
   "InfoIdocs missing; external system
   Diagnosis :- InfoIDocs are missing. The IDocs are created in BW with non-SAP systems as source
   systems that transfer the data and metadata to BW using BAPIs. Since the IDocs are missing, a
   short dump in BW probably occurred.
   System response: No selection information arrived from the source system"
Error messages from Monitor -Details tab:-
    Missing message: Number of sent records,   Missing message: Selection completed

Thank you very much for your reply. The source system connections are OK and we are able to load data to other Data targets from ETL, we have issue only with this this particular load. The load extracts data and I have loaded the data from ETL to PSA and have checked the data content and it is correct. But when I update the same data to the target I get this error. I have also tried to update from PSA to target and also directly from ETL to target.

0distr_chan initial master data load, text missing

Hey: I am trying to do an initial master data load for 0distr_chan on text. The load is not successful. In the monitor detailed error message, it has red alert for transfer rules missing message, update missing message.
0distr_chan attibute is OK.
I am also having problems when loading 0salesorg on text. It fails also.

To check on datasource on R3, I use transaction RSA6, underneath the SD-IO master data, I found 0DISTR_CHAN_TEXT with green text icon on the right. Is this a valid way to verify that datasource for 0DISTR_CHAN_TEXT has been activated OK on R3? I am not sure if there is any way for me to check if any transfer rules for the datasource has been activated OK on R3.

how to do this? currently i manually updated the entity dimension by adding a dummy base member.

When extracting data some recors are missing

I am extracting data for inventory.
it is delta .When data is extracting from r/3 no process chain fails.
But some of the records are missing. it is only happening for inventory datasource

Is the initialization done with any selection conditions, if yes then delta also will be fetched only for those selections.

ODI : extract datas from HFM filtering on base members of certain accounts

Does anyone know how to filter only Basemembers for certain accounts for extracting data ?
I need to extract data for level0 members of certain accounts which is about 300. If I don't put the filter its more than 2000 records.

Hi - unfortunately you cannot do that in the current KM. We faced the same issue and logged the issue with Oracle. Its being considered as an enhancement not as a bug. So we have to wait for future releases. As a solution for this we created TaskLists in HFM and extracted data.

Choosing Dimension Members / Creating Data Load Rule Files

Let me explain this problem using an example. Let's say I have a dimension table called "Product" and its has ProductId, ProductCode & ProductName fields, and a Fact table with ProductId and Value columns. As you can see ProductId has beed used to link to Fact table. I want to display ProductCode as dimension members (ProductName as Alias). I have no problem creating this scenario using EIS. But when I am not sure whether I could do this with EAS. I tried but I cannot get it working. Does anybody know to do this in EAS please? Also, how to create the data load rule for this problem using ProductId?

You can do this using a SQL load rule.
One rule to build your dimension, simply select statement on the one Dimension table.
Second rule to load data is going to require a Select statement with a join to pull the product name from the dimension table and the data from the fact table linked on the Product id.
