Missing library after reinstall

I reinstalled Creative Cloud and Lightroom but when I did it is missing my previous library.  Can I retrieve?

I assume you mean Catalog.
It is probably still sitting where ever it was previously stored.  Reinstalling does not affect Catalogs.  Use your OS to search for all files ending in .LRCAT

  • Problem with getting back my library after reinstalation

seems sth's wrong with update. My question is if I'll get back my libraries after reinstalation. I copied all of my libraries to my comp to seperate file.
my error also showed dll file missing, after instaling dll fixer my error is 1114 and r6034
PLEASE HELP!!! i spent year selecting music to libraries :-(

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Missing library after 10.1 update

I just ran the suggested update to 10.1. Right after it installed and opened I noticed my entire library was missing in itunes (music, apps, movies, etc). The only things that was there was a few albums I had purchased directly from iTunes. I checked finder and the other 60+ GB of music is still on my macbook pro (in the itunes folder). Any suggestions to fix this and why it did this?

have you seen this support article: [_*No content shows up in iTunes after updating*_|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1967] ?
    also check out this script:
_*Music Folder Files Not Added v2.0*_
This application will list the file paths of the files in your designated "iTunes Media" folder which are not in iTunes' library. Additionally, you can select a different parent folder and its contents will be compared to the iTunes library. Options to Add a selection of found files to iTunes or move them to the Trash.

  • Registration Settings Missing- even after reinstall

iTunes keeps showing the error message of "The registration settings used by the iTunes drivers....are missing....Please reinstall iTunes." I have tried the fix for this issue in this location http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976 but I have no upper or lower filters listed. This is driving me crazy i can't activate my new iPone. I don't have any additional Burning software. I have had Daemon tools but not any more. Please help me!

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • I can't add folders to my itunes (v10) library after reinstall.

So I got hit with the "new Library" error after having Itunes 11 for a week or so. After this awful mishap, I uninstalled 11, and got 10 back because I had never had any problems with it. After reading countless forums on how to import all my music that was in my library before everything (going to 'Previous Itunes Library, etc"), only some folders(albums) imported. (Not anywhere near all my folders of music I had) Now most of my folders will NOT add to my library by going to 'Add Folders to Library", and you can only add them by individual files/songs by going to "Add File By Library." It would take me years to do all of this with all of my music. PLEASE help.

keep all of my music in a music folder, and when I want to put them onto my iPod, I just drag them into my iTunes library (or go to File > Add File to Library).
    Why?
    Just leave them in iTunes.

  • ITunes doesn't show my moved library after reinstall.

I just moved to a new PC and moved my iTunes library by copying the old iTunes folder and pasting it in the new empty one. I did this several times when reinstalling and usually I just open iTunes and it's all there - all the content and ratings etc... Now when I open it there's nothing.
It's empty. I did a format and reinstall of Vista 64 several times and reinstalled iTunes more than once too, also tried 7.3 as opposed to 7.5 and nothing changed.
    Please help.

    Hello, GeneralOreo.
I don't have any experience as far as (with apologies to Apple) "making the switch" from XP to Vista is concerned but one problem relating to iTunes is that the path to the iTunes folder is not the same in the two operating systems - in XP its default setting is C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\My Music\iTunes, in Vista its C:\Users\User Name\Music\iTunes.
This would tend to confuse the iTunes Library files which in addition to telling iTunes where the song files are located also contain playlist and related information.
There is a simple solution that would get your songs into your Library but would not keep the playlist and related info - ratings, comments, play counts, dates added, etc..
If that's acceptable, go to the iTunes File menu > Add Folder to Library option and select your iTunes Music folder.
If that's not acceptable, we'll have to try and track down someone with a bit more knowledge concerning Vista.

  • Access Privileges / Reinstalling music library after reinstalling osystem

I had to reinstall my Windows XP operating system and all new software to my computer. I added the latest Itunes and attempted to copy over my old music library. Most of the songs were added - however many were not.
When I try to import or add folders - either nothing happens or I get error message that I do not have enough access privileges. Since these were CDs I burned onto my hard drive and have remained on my hard drive - I don't understand.
What do I need to do to get access privileges or other steps to add this music to my ITunes music library?

    Any help?

  • Missing programs after reinstall

I use my computer for graphic design for work. The computer guys "wiped out" all the programs so that I could install my own programs registered to me. After they put in the OS, I am missing programs that came on the Mac originally, like iDVD, iPhoto, iMovieHD... How do I get those back? They tried several times to use the disk that came with the computer, but no luck.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

They can use Pacifist to install only those programs from the original disc that came with the computer. I believe you use the "Open System Packages" or something similar to get the iDVD, iPhoto, etc. packages available for install.

  • Files missing from library after archive and install

    Hi forum folk
any help you could give would be much appreciated.
I can't seem to verify my permissions on HD. I have run disk utility both from finder and from my OSX startup disk and consistently get the error message "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue." I then reinstalled the operating system all together making sure to archive and install as well as archive previous network and preference settings. This means I am running 10.3.4 at the moment (and I can't verify any of the software updates at the moment). After reinstalling I still cannot verify my permissions, so now I am trying to back up all my files so that I can reinstall the OSX again, erase everything, and start from scratch. But I'm running into some very strange problems while doing this. select files are missing from ~/library. there is no Safari file, for example. I tried looking in HD/previous systems/library where my library files were saved before I reinstalled the operating system but there is no such folder in there either. this means all of my bookmarks are gone. additionally, under library/preferences (in both the old and new library folders) there is no file named com.apple.itunes.plst. so all of my itunes playlists are gone as well. these are the only missing files I have found thus far and i can't explain why they selectively would not have been saved after the archive and install. Everything else seems to be intact. Any ideas?
    thanks

my HD has a capacity of 8.85 GB available. When I reinstalled panther I had little more than 3 GB available (I deleted a bunch of unneeded things since then)
Thanks for this update. What is the total formatted capacity of your HDD? I ask because I suspected that you might be cutting it pretty close. The rule of thumb is that you should have 10-15% of your total capacity available as free space. My personal rule is 15%-20%. This allows for more efficient perfomrance of OS X.
I am in the process of backing up everything on my seagate combo USB 2.0/firewire 200 GB external (I am using the firewire cord)
Having an up-to-date backup is one of the primary rules, often observed more in the breach than not. Since you have an HDD that supports Firewire, I suggest that you make a bootable clone of your entire HDD using SuperDuper. You can then use this backup as an emergency boot drive. However, it must be Firewire, as PPC Macs don't boot from USB devices.
I also have heard that it is advisable to reinstall the OS "every now and again" and I hadn't done this for at least two years. was I ill-advised?
Most experienced Mac users never re-install, except under dire circumstances. Since installing my new HDD in this computer I have never re-installed. Re-installation is the utlimate intrusive measure, and it exposes one to all kinds of issues, from lost data, to flawed installaton, to installations that fail midstream. Re-installation is not an effective maintenace procedure. Here are some helpful links in terms of maintenance:
Mac OS X 10.3/10.4: System maintenance
    Macintosh OS X Routine Maintenance
    Maintaining OS X.
I'm going to restart now and try and verify my permissions again using the procedure on the above link. I'll let you know what happens.
Instead of verifying permissions, just go ahead and Repair Disk Permissions. Verifying permissions does nothing, and wastes your time, as it is difficult to tell whether you need to repair, and you have to repair anyway.
Do post back with an update of your progress and any further questions or comments.
    Good luck.

  • Missing files - corrupt library after upgrade to 11.1.4

I updated iTunes to 11.1.4, and after launching, it looked like it was updating my library as it's done in the past.  However, this time, after an hour I realized it had not yet completed, and a dialogue box asking about creating an iTunes U playlist was on the screen.  I tried to do so, but it just kept repeating.  So finally I stopped it, and now I have an file marked iTunes library (damaged) and an incomplete library.  I am missing thousands of songs compared to the last .itl I have in Previous iTunes Libraries.
I thought when iTunes did an upgrade to the library it was supposed to make a backup? If so, and I did the upgrade yesterday, why is the most recent file in Previous iTunes Libraries dated from four months ago?
How can I repair the damaged .itl file, as the one iTunes is using now as, as I mentioned, missing thousands of songs now.
Is there any sort of script or utility I can use to figure out exactly which files are missing from the current .itl in my library?
    Thanks in advance.

No, you need to do the backup as part of regular computer maintenance and before you do any software upgrades.  iTunes moves the old library into the previous library area but perhaps your update failed before it did that.

Yes, there's one on the Dougscripts web site that will crawl through a library.  In yur case it's probably just as easy to drag the whole iTunes media folder to Automatically Add to iTunes.  Anything already in the library it will ignore.  Anything not there it will add.
