Missing stuff in my iMac Box

I recently unboxed my iMac Mid-2011, but it did not come with a cleaning cloth and the DVDs. Is this usual and My iMac came preinstalled with OSX lion 10.7

Does anyone know where to get an iMac box? I have checked Ebay and CL but can't seem to find the right size.
    Thanks
    Adam

If you go to a reputable packing and shipping store, they should be have the stuff needed. If you're going to ship the computer somewhere, let them do the packing and shipping, make sure it's insured for full value, and get a tracking number so you can see the progress. If you just want the box and packing material, you can usually buy it from the packing and shipping store.

  • I am missing something in integrating iMac w/ iCloud. Plz help.

I am trying to get Photo Stream up and running on my iMac, iPhone, and iPad, but have run into trouble. I have upgraded iPhoto to 9.2. I have 10.7.3. I am in the Cloud (I have the email, contacts, Find my Phone, calendar, and iWork icons). I go to the iMac setup step that starts with the Photo Stream splash screen that says "No, Thanks. Turn on Photo Stream".
I click "Turn on Photo Stream" and get the iCloud splash screen that has the "Move to iCloud" button.
I click on that and get the Find My Phone map and box where I enter in my password. I enter that and get the grey textured screen that says to use the app, go to iCloud.com
I click "Go to iCloud.com" and see the light blue map and am told to enter my password AGAIN. I do and my devices are located (this wasn't the goal, as I HAVE my devices).
I click on the cloud next to "My Devices" and I see my 5 icons (mail, contacts, calendar, find my phone, and iWork), but no sunflower photo stream icon.
    WHAT AM I MISSING???????

I went to Sys Pref. > iCloud.
Sys. Pref. changes from the Show All view to the iCloud splash IN Sys. Pref. and has the button "Move to iCloud", which I pushed.
I so appreciate your help, Winston Churchill, and yours, Csound 1, but as I have copied above, I HAVE tried that. Pardon, my frustration at this point, but I have tried every way to H*l! I can see this calls for a phone chat. Thanks anyway.

Bought new iMac & moved (or thought I had) all of my music from the old PC to the new iMac. Have discovered several hundred songs are orphaned on old PC; I can "see" them with both machines turned on & iTunes open. "Missing" songs show in iMac itunes Shared folder. How do I move them all so I can then & retire the old PC?

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

A simple Internet search reveals a number of places to download it for free. By the way, the Princeton font is not a default included font with OS X.

Top-left of the screen, just under the red circle that would normally close windows, do you see see "Show" with a triangle pointing to your right? If so, click it.
Do you see the list of Events, Projects, etc?

  • Sharing stuff on my iMac

I'm a fairly new iMac user (11/07) and i just bought a macbook air. It is using my airport extreme and on that network is my imac, a pc and now my mac book air.
I want to transfer the dates from my ical on my iMac to the macbook air. When i'm on the Air.. if I go to finder I see under sharing that it lists my iMac. But when i click on that there is nothing there. It has me listed as a guest. When I try to sign as myself it has a box that asks for my name and password (from the iMac i'm guessing). It has the name box filled in with my full name: Susan Kelly. and the password box is blank. I really only use a combo of a few passwords and none of them are working. I'm not even sure my "full name" that it automatically fills in for me is right.
Is there a way I can go to my iMac and find out what the name and password is? When I first got this computer it asked me to register for so many things and now I can't remember what is what.
To share with my imac can i do it as a "guest" or do i have to sign in? How can I get my calendar and also my e-mail stuff (addresses and such).
Thanks for any help at all!
    Susan

Do you have either an external FW or USB drive or a USB flash drive? Do you have a .Mac account? Is it your intent to merely transfer this data once or do you want to be able to sync the data regularly? Some answers to these questions will help in providing more effective advice.
To transfer files across the network the computer that would be the "server" should have File Sharing turned on via the Sharing preferences. After sharing is enabled you will see the computer address you need to use in order to access the computer from a "client" in the form of afp://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn. The "client" computer attaches to the server by selecting Connect to Server from the Finder's Go menu. In the dialog enter the afp:// address provided by the Sharing panel on the "server" computer then click on the Connect button. In the dialog you will be offered the opportunity to log in as Guest or Registered user. Choose the latter and enter the username and password for your admin account on the "server" computer. Then select the device you wish to access - usually Macintosh HD. It should then mount on the Desktop of the "client" computer.
In order to access your Address Book, iCal, and Mail data you will need to copy the following items to their corresponding locations on the "client":
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
From the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder copy the following:
    com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist
    com.apple.AddressBook.plist
    com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    com.apple.iCal.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.plist
    com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist>com.apple.mail.plist
    com.apple.mail.searchhistory.plist
    com.apple.Safari.plist

  • Price Difference: Out of box w/ Missing Accessories vs Out of box w/o Missing Accessories?

    Hello
Ok, so I need some help.
Last night, I purchased a Samsung 55" TV out of box. When I went home to install my brand new (used) TV. It was missing the power cord! After further examination, it was also missing the IR Extender Cable and the batteries.
On the label, it said it was "no missing accessories" but unfortunately, it was missing some key accessories to run the tv. I talked to the store and they were unable to provide me with the missing accessories and that I had to buy them individually and despite being labeled as "no missing accessories," that's the true cost of the TV.
My question, is that price correct, would there be a price difference if a out of box tv had all the accessories vs not having all the accessories?
I just want to make sure I paid the true value of the TV. As I see it, the TV may have been priced based on all the accessories but since the TV is missing accessories, the price of the TV may be different.
    Your thoughts?

    Hello ItsJTP,
Open box items are a great way to save on some of your favorite devices! It is sad to hear that this experience may not have met your expectations or been what we hope for our customers purchasing such items. I am sorry for any concern this may have caused you.
Open box items should be marked appropriately for any missing pieces or accessories, and then priced accordingly. With that said, unfortunately I am unable to know whether this was priced correctly, and missing accessories listed incorrectly, or if the missing accessories were listed incorrectly and thus the price was not appropriate.

  • Missing stuff/altered settings after clearing cache

So I wanted to clear up disk space by clearing up the cache. I had not done this before so I did it for the first time. I cleared up the caches from both the main Macintosh HD device and my user name. I went to the Library folder, then to the cache folder, selected all, and put all the stuff in the Trash and emptied it. Then I re-started my computer.
The problem is, after I restarted I noticed that some things were missing. All my desktop images were gone. Even though they were all the default images that came with the computer, I liked the default space image. The color of the menu bar on top (where you see the apple icon, file, edit , ect.) changed from the default light gray color to now a light blue color. I tried to change the color by going to system preferences and then to appearances. But I only have two choices, Blue and Graphite. When I change to Graphite, there is no difference. Also, all my widgets are gone. I tried to look for those widgets but can't find them on the apple website.
What I did to try to fix this problem, I inserted the applications install CD that came with the computer and re-installed the applications but the stuff was still missing. I have not tried to re-install  MAC OS X because right now I don't have a way to backup my files. For those who cleared their cache like I did; did anybody have things missing? And how can I delete the cache without affecting the settings of my computer??

Deleting the cache files shouldn't have had the effects you describe, so I don't know what really happened. What I do know is that you should do no more work with the computer until you have a backup solution in place. Without it, you are inevitably going to lose all your data, and there will be nothing anyone can do to help you. Shut down the computer now. Don't turn it on again until you're ready to connect an external hard drive and activate Time Machine or some other backup software.

  • Missing barcode label in iMac G4- i need that EEE code!

I need to replace the logic board on my G4 iMac. On the board I can find the part number and an empty box etched with the words 'barcode label'. Is it possible that my logic board has no serial number? Or has a lazy technician in my past tossed it out? How do I find out what part I need? The logic board part number 820-1501-A, the iMac serial number is W8***NHX. I would appreciate any help on this one. Thanks.

    Hey John,
It's possible there's a problem with the PMU. Not sure how the PMU works in these iMac G4s. I do see a block diagram for the iMac Flat Panel 700 and 800 but none for the 1 GHz. In that block diagram the PMU inputs to something called the Panges memory controller and I/O device controller. So a lot of things run through this chip including ATA, wireless LAN USB, Firewire , Ethernet....
You might run through these voltage checks from the manual:
"4. Remove keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals such as speakers.
    5. Disconnect the power cord, place the computer in the service stand, and remove the user access
    plate.
    6. Reset PMU. Refer to “Resetting the PMU on the Logic Board” mentioned earlier in this chapter.
    7. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage on the battery test point (see graphic below). If the reading is over
3.5 volts, go to the next step. If the reading is under 3.5 volts, replace the battery and test again.
    8. Plug the unit in, but do NOT press the power button. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage from the test
point marked “12VSLP” (see graphic above). You should get a reading of approximately 12 volts. If the
reading is 12 volts, go to the next step. If you don’t get a 12 volt reading, go to step 11.
    9. Press the power switch on the computer. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage on the test point marked
“12V” (see graphic above). You should get a reading of approximately 12 volts. If the reading is 12
volts, go to the next step. If you do not get a 12 volt reading, replace the main logic board.
    10. Using a voltmeter, check the voltage on the test point marked “5V” (see graphic above). You should get
a reading of approximately 5 volts. If the reading is 5 volts, go to the next step. If you do not get a 5 volt reading, replace the main logic board."
Those test points are under the user access panel on the bottom near the PMU button that you've already found. They're in the form of an "L" that faces to the left. Close to the apex is the ground point the tip of the lower leg being the battery test point and the tall upright being:
    5 V
    12 VSLP
    !2 V
    from top to bottom.
If you have more questions email me.

  • How do I restore missing cursor to google earch box

About three week ago I noticed that the cursor to my Google front page search box was missing.
The cursor IS available in the URL and Google Quick Launch boxes - but NOT the main search box.
I was running Firefox 6 when this happened. I have upgraded to Firefox 7 (Beta 6) but still have no cursor when using Google for the front page.
Can you please help me to restore this cursor?
    Thanks

It is now called simply "Play Store" and the icon is a white shopping bag with a multicolored play symbol (right pointing arrow/triangle). You should be able to find it when you click on the Apps icon (looks like s 4x4 grid of small white squares) on your home screen. It's not listed on the Application Manager.

  • Missing iPhoto for new iMac

    Hi,
Just got new iMac. Great! Using new software that came with it. No iPhoto on my hard drive. Missing. What am I supposed to have? And since I don't have it, how can I get it? I don't see any download for iPhoto. What version should I have with my new iMac? Thanks.
    Ed

Thanks for your prompt answer. I have looked through the applications folder and the rest of the hard drive. I have done a search with spotlight but there is no iPhoto. I have contacted the dealer and will be contacted the individual there that helped set up the transfer of data and applications from my failed iMac G5.
My guess is that they somehow deleted iPhoto in this process
In the booklet that is titled "Everything Mac" it shows iPhoto under iLife.
    That is correct
reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only
For more information click here for the MacWorld article on reinstalling OS X applications.
I have used the Software update to download and install all updates that were listed. Nothing there to update iPhoto.
If there is no iPhoto you can not update iPhoto - iPhoto (and iLife) are not available from downloads - they must be installed from the original disks as noted above and in my first answer
