Mobile apps direction

I am not able to find any good tutorials for building mobile apps in flashbuilder 4..
can someone give me a little direction?

There are lots of blogs and documentation available on Flex Mobile application Development, sharing some of it here

• Lync 2013 mobile app does not work internally, SIP domain is Different than users UPN. not sure if that matters.

using the lync client connectivity tester on a pc on the same lan as my mobile client everything is green and it says its ready for use.
using my android galaxy s5 client on wifi on the same lan i get a screen with waiting to sign in spinning and an error at the top "we cant connect to the server check your network connection and server address, and try again."
i have uploaded the full client log files

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

i am using the correct creds, same creds i used on the analyzer tool.
in the analyzer tool i did have to fill in the username field because my sip domain is different then my users UPN. which from what ive read its required to use the username field.
i also filled in the username field in the mobile app with domain\username

thank you in advance for any help. im trying to get internal working before i try external.

Eric,
I am trying to configure a reverseproxy on my netscaler which is in a 2 arm mode(dmz/internal) but I keep getting an error when configuring the monitor.
i used this guide to configure it
http://www.lynced.com.au/2014/04/configure-citrix-netscaler-vpx-as.html
but continue to get this error in the netscaler monitor "Failure - TCP connection successful, but application timed out"
so the virtual server is never up, thinking about just changing it to tcp as a monitor so it stays up and i can at lesat get the vip up.
Also your link to the diagram shows it going to the reverse proxy but the one im using has it going directly to the front end servers.
http://www.lync-solutions.com/Documents/Lync_2013_protocol_poster_v6_7.pdf
I'm guessing Microsoft's is the correct one but wonder why the config differential?
I see that your diagram says "mobility url", what is the mobility url? i though that was the lyncdiscoverinternal.internal.com
current setup is
2 fe servers on internal
1 edge server on dmz
1 almost done reverse proxy netscaler load balancer.
also this ms link i used to configure dns entries, along with the pdf linked above.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj945644.aspx
i currently have these external dns entries and they all point to the edge server on the dmz.
dialin .external.com
lync .external.com
lyncweb .external.com
lyncdiscover.external.com
meet .external.com
sip .external.com
webconf .external.com
av .external.com
_autodiscover._tcp.external.com.
the internal dns links point to 1 of the front end servers
1. lyncdiscoverinternal.internal.com
2. lyncdiscover.internal.com
3. _sipinternaltls._tcp.internal.com
4. _sipinternal._tcp.internal.com
5. sipinternal.internal.com
6. sip.internal.com
thanks again for your help.

• Move Mobile Apps Folder To External Drive?

Hi guys,
I've got a MacBook Pro running Lion with all the latest software / updates. This has become my secondary machine (since buying a lovely 27" iMac), and I'm using iTunes Match to keep both the MacBook Pro and iMac's iTunes libraries in sync.
Now that I sync my iPhone and iPad to the iMac, I don't have much need for the Mobile Apps folder on my MacBook Pro. I have a lot of apps, so my Mobile Apps folder is ~50 gigs, and it's suddenly one of the larger items on the MacBook Pro's drive. Would it be possible to relocate this folder to my external drive for the MacBook Pro? I found an older suggestion (to move the Mobile Apps folder, and create a shortcut in the iTunes folder pointing back to me new location), but this didn't work at all.
Is this do-able? As as alternate, can I just delete all the Apps from my MacBook Pro's iTunes library (from within the app) without screwing up the syncing or (via iTunes Match) inadvertantly deleting them all from the iMac as well?
Thanks!

How to use an SSD with your HDD
If you are going to use an SSD as a boot drive together with your existing HDD as the "data" drive, here's what you can do.
After installing the SSD you will need to partition and format the SSD using Disk Utility. Then, install OS X on the SSD. After OS X has been installed boot from the SSD. Use Startup Disk preferences to set the SSD as the startup volume.
Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu.
You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the HDD (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed.
When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the HDD.
Another more technical method involving the Terminal and aliases is discussed in depth here: Using OS X with an SSD plus HDD setup - Matt Gemmell. This is my preferred approach because I can select which of the Home's folders I want on the HDD and which I don't want. For example, I like to keep the Documents and Library folders on the SSD because I access their content frequently.
Be sure you retain the fully bootable system on your HDD in case you ever need it.

• How can I have html5 audio continue to play in background in iOS7 from my flex mobile app

I have mobile app I've developed in flash builder 4.6 (flex 4.12 sdk) and I have a stagewebview component which contains HTML5 audio (mp3 retrieved from my web server and streamed / played via the app)... I want to have the ios version of the app CONTINUE to play the mp3 / html5 audio when the user presses the home button on their iphone or opens another app... so that when multitasking, my audio continues to play (where theres no other NEW audio started, for instance).
I have added the following to my manifest but it still doesnt do what Im after. I used this in another mobile app where I just play audio from the url directly in flash builder (i.e. NOT via webview component) -- but here it seems the webview suspends (Im guessing)...
<iPhone>
<InfoAdditions>
<key>UIDeviceFamily</key>
<array>
<string>1</string>
</array>
<key>UIBackgroundModes</key>
<array>
<string>audio</string>
</array>
</InfoAdditions>
<requestedDisplayResolution>high</requestedDisplayResolution>
</iPhone>
Is there a way around this so my audio continues to play? My test device is an iphone 4 running the latest version of ios7

You can import audio files into Logic (as easy as drag and drop). You can download these loops from the Internet from a variety of sources both free and paid. Just do a Google search for those.
Once you've imported the file into Logic Pro, right click on the audio region and scroll down to the "Convert" option about halfway down the menu. The top option will be "Add to Apple Loops library" - click this, and it'll add the file into your Apple loops.
It won't affect the other loops in the library.

• Lync 2013 not syncing conversations with mobile apps

Straight to the point, is there any way to sync conversations started on the pc client with the lync mobile app (iOS, Android..)? I've been doing some research and found that this was to be done on the updated version of the mobile app, but at the moment
we haven't been able to do so.
From what we've experienced, if we are connected on the two devices at the same time (PC and mobile), Lync will take the PC as the default and messages will be delivered to the pc client without any notice to the mobile app even though it's connected too.
So, if I get out of my desk and take the phone with me so that people could reach me through Lync, I'll have to sign off from the pc client so that the messages can be directed to my phone app.
Is there a way for changing this or this is the way it works for now? This happens not only for iPhone but for Android devices too.
Please let me know. Thanks!

Lync Server send IM to the currently most active endpoint.
If the server is unable to determine which state is most active, it sends the message to the endpoint it determines most likely active and waits to see whether the user acknowledges the toast at any location. If the user opens the toast
at an endpoint, the server removes the message from the other endpoints. If an endpoint doesn’t acknowledge the message, the server leaves the message at only one location, the most likely endpoint.

• I have a license to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC - can I use it in the mobile app?

Hi!
I recently bought the license to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for my computer and now I want to extend my possibilites with the mobile app. Is it possible in some way to use the bought license in the mobile app? Because I'm requested to buy additional packages when I for example wants to export a pdf?
Thanks!
Mikael Damar

Hi Mikael,
I am can understand your concern & will guide you in the right direction. Can please let me know if you have a subscription for Adobe Acrobat DC Pro or its a Perpetual licence?
As with perpetual licence you won't be able to use the extended functionality on the mobile app. by using the same licence and it will prompt you for the additional package. However if its a subscription you just need to simply Sign In to the mobile app. using your Adobe ID with which you serialized the Acrobat DC Pro on the computer to use these functionality.

• Adding Polyline to Google Map in Mobile App

I've got a mobile app that uses a Google map. I can successfully retrieve directions from the Google Directions service. I want to overlay the route polyline from the Directions Result onto my Google map. I can't find an example of how to do this with a mobile app - all the examples are for web pages and I'm not quite able to make the translation. Could someone please post some sample code?

• Mobile app connection to SAP

Hi all,
I have developed a normal windows application which connect to SAP through the .NET connector in VS2008 and it worked fine. when trying to use the same connection code to write windows mobile application, the connection didn't work and this error appeared:
System.TypeLoadException was unhandled
Message="Could not load type 'SAP.Middleware.Connector.RfcDestination' from assembly 'sapnco, Version=3.0.0.42, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=50436DCA5C7F7D23'."
StackTrace:
at Test.Form1..ctor()
at Test.Program.Main()
InnerException:
I have searched about this error and I understood that mobile applications can not connect to the .NET Connector directly and a web service/server should be found to handle these connections, but these findings were all dated to 2007-2009 (somehow old) so my questions are:
1- Is there a direct way to connect my mobile app to SAP?
2- if no, can you please show me an example of how to connect to SAP indirectly?
Thank you in advance

What version of SAP is?
Do you to try ITS Standalone or Embbebed?

Hi Jessica,
On the iOS mobile app, communities with sub-communities are identified by a blue arrow next to the community. If you tap on the community name you will be taken to the community, if you tap on the blue arrow you will be taken to the sub-communities within that parent community. For Android tapping on the arrow next to the community name will expand that community to show any sub-communities underneath it. I hope this helps.
Thanks,

• What happened to the createPDF mobile app.

I can't find it in the app store anymore and links to it on the adobe website lead nowhere. Has this been discontinued? Any alternatives available?

Never got a response so I bought Office Suite Pro 6 from the Google Play store. It goes on sale every now and then. Picked it up for 99 cents. Has in-app converion of word to pdf (ie, not cloud based). Works fine and pretty good Office app too. Hope this helps.

• Ability to read & respond with just text to messages in the mobile app.

I love how in the desktop client I am able to send messages with just text responding to my friends songs. Often times replying with a song doesnt always feel necessary. I would love for this functionality to be carried over to the mobile app.

I knew I wasn't the only one wondering about this. Before I entirely understood how the community worked, I was trying to figure out how to post the following (I will here just to add a bit more depth to the idea, apologies for the length): "I am sure someone has at least considered this, if not posted it, so I apologize in advance if I have missed something. On every computer-version of Spotify that I and my companions use there is a feature in which messages can be sent in the same manner as any normal chat room/feature via the inbox. As long as one track has been sent directly to another user to initiate the "conversation," two users can message back and forth, sans the sending of new tracks. We use this feature A LOT. We love it. Problem is, it is only a desktop feature. There is an inbox on our mobile applications, but it only allows us to view tracks that have been sent to us. If we could add the free-chat messaging to the mobile application, I feel the app would gain significant value. There are countless other apps designed just to be messenger systems...imagine then, Spotify could be the hub for music AND messaging! I cannot lie, my true motivation is behind the idea of Spotify being the truly SOCIAL hub for music lovers... Community is one of the best parts of what Spotify has made. It should always be a priority to keep bringing us closer through the foundation of music."

• Problems with Google Mobile App in 3.0

My Google mobile app is not working correctly in 3.0... it won't register motion sensing for voice search (and yes, motion sensing is turned on in the settings menu and the accelerometer works fine in other apps). I have tried removing and re-installing the app several times, to no avail. Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone have any ideas as to a solution?

I've noticed the same issue since the update to 3.0. Generally Google will not react at all with the tones/chimes to let me know that it's 'paying attention', at least for several attempts of raising it to my ear (though the screen will darken as if on a phone call so accelerometer is doing its part). Then (sometimes) it will inexplicably begin to behave properly for search after search. I've found only two mentions of this issue in the discussions (surprised there aren't more considering it must be related directly to the update), neither with a solution, but at least I know it's not my imagination.

• Authentication Mechanism for Our Mobile App

Hi All,
We developed a mobile app with SAP SRM System as backend.
Java Adapters is used in the front end to access SAP Backend in the form of Web Service URL, which is nothing but FM in the form of URL.
The FM in our application, takes only the User ID, who logs in as the input and returns the data of the user as expected.
When the Web-Service is called, it is accessing the SAP SRM backend DIRECTLY.
So, we have to give SAP Backend Credentials to the WS to return the output.
Is there anyway by which, the user can login the mobile app with his user ID and some other password set by him in the front end login application (which can also have "Forgot Password?") BUT NOT SAP Backend password, as the user id will be consumed in the back-end by the Web-Services.
Hope I am clear:)
Thanks & Regards,
Pavan

Cool. Thanks.

• Question About what Azure Services I should be using for mobile app with website.

Hello,
I am wondering what Azure service would be best for my new application. I need to have an SQL database that I can connect to and modify from both a website and a mobile app preferably WP8 and Android. I was not really understanding whether I would need a
mobile service or normal SQL database. Which should I use or am I completely off track?
Thanks,
Matthias

Mobile Services uses SQL Database, nothing special on that SQL Database, its just like any other "normal" SQL Database.
Mobile Services provides "back-end services" that simplifies accessing SQL Database, Notification services, authentication, etc...
Let's assume you don't use Mobile Services, to use SQL Database, you would need your app (both mobile and web) to connect to the database. In practice, you will not want to expose your SQL database directly, so you'd end-up writing some kind of a "facade"
that your app will access instead of directly connecting to the database.
Instead of writing that "facade", Mobile services provides that for you (you still have to write code though, but less than what you need to write if you're rolling your own).
Both your web app and mobile apps can share the same SQL database (pay attention to the mobile service schema).
To help you decide, ask yourself what other features will your mobile app require? Authentication? Notification? etc... are you prepared to write those on your own or use various libraries instead of one?
