Mobile support in Adobe AIR

Is there any "Mobile support in Adobe AIR" ( ie : Can I run my AIR app in Mobile ?)
And what is Flash lite? - is it supported in Adobe AIR ?
Thanks & Regards,
Pravin

No yet, The Open Screen Project is working on taking AIR to cell phones.
Flash Lite is smaller version of Flash with a reduce subset of
features that is installed in more than a billion cell phones worldwide.
Sincerely,
Michael

  • Will there be future support from Adobe AIR for Desktop native Applications

    We have a desktop native application developed using Flex SDK 4.1 and running on Adobe AIR. Now as Adobe has donated Flex SDk to Apache we are concerned about the future of this application. If we rescale our application with new versions of Flex SDk released by Apache, in future will the new versions of Adobe AIR support it? As I have read in Adobe Forums that Adobe is more concentrated on providing HTML5 support in Adobe AIR, and not working for Flex support anymore, can we face any problems going forward with this combination?

  • Retina support for Adobe AIR HTML

    Hi,
    I was suprised to find there's no retina display support for Adobe AIR (3.9).
    Macs with retina displays have been around for quite some time now.
    This is a crucial feature as I will not be able to use my application on my retina display.
    A bug report has been opened here: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3662094
    Thanks.

    Hi Jeffrey,
    This is indeed an issue with the HTML control, however the StageWebView(true) control does support retina devices.  Is it possible for you to use this instead?

  • Multi Touch not supported in Adobe Air for IOS?

    Hi, I've just started developing my first app for my iPhone which is an iPhone 3GS. I'm using CS5 to make these apps.
    I did a simple test game where there are two arrows on the screen and a fire button. The screen also has a ground and the player standing on it which can be controlled with left/right and fire. Now, if I press right, he moves right, if I press left, he moves left, if I press fire, he jumps... BUT no matter what I do I can't make dual touch work, ie: I press right AND fire, it only recognize just ONE touch point. So I did alot of researching and didn't find much.  I thought maybe adding a TouchEvent.TOUCH_TAP which I found a guide on on this page: http://openexhibits.org/support/gestures/1/one-finger-tap , but couldn't make it work, so I found this: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/multitouch_gestures.html and it seems Adobe Air for iPhone only allows four different gestures, no TouchEvents. I found a code somewhere that when run it checks to see if the device it's running on supports TOUCH_TAP stuff and in CS5 I got the message that it is not supported, in Adobe Device Central I get it's supported, on the actual phone (yes, got dev license from Apple and all that and can run my apps from CS5 on my iphone) I get it IS supported, but it doesn't work when I try it for real.
    So, my question is: how can I make Adobe Air using CS5 to detect 2 finger presses at the same time in iPhone apps?  Like pressing right+fire at the same time, so it doesn't just detect ONE of them being pressed.
    Thanks a million for any reply.

    Before listening for TouchEvents like TOUCH_BEGIN, TOUCH_MOVE, TOUCH_END etc... you need to set the input mode of your device to TOUCH_POINT. By default it is set to GESTURE.
    This works fine on the iPAD:
    import flash.ui.Multitouch;
    import flash.ui.MultitouchInputMode;
    Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.TOUCH_POINT;
    stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_BEGIN, touchBegin);
    stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_MOVE, touchMove);
    stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_END, touchEnd);
    private function touchBegin(te:TouchEvent):void {
        // your code here
    private function touchMove(te:TouchEvent):void {
        // your code here
    private function touchEnd(te:TouchEvent):void {
        // your code here
    Hope that helps.

  • Cache-Control and Accept-Encoding support in Adobe AIR HTML Component

    I am evaluating Adobe AIR's HTML component and trying to figure out what is supported.
    I built the AIR app and had it point to www.google.com
    I notice that the requests to fetch JS,CSS from Adobe AIR do not include Accept-Encoding: gzip header.
    Does Adobe AIR's HTML Component support Accept-Encoding : gzip header ?
    I also noticed that even though the content served with far futures expiry, i.e. has Cache-Control: maxage={value} subsequent requests are being made and content is not served from the browser's cache.
    I observed this accross the app restarts.
    Can someone please clarify support of the two above Http headers ?
    Thank you.

    You might also want to check out the useCache property to see if this helps.  See these links:

  • Is Adobe Connect Mobile built on Adobe Air?

    I want to know is adobe connect application built on adob air platform?
    Are there any native extions used if it is built on air?

    I believe it doe run on AIR.
    What do you mean by native extensions? Do you mean objects you can load in the Share pod and have it work in the mobile app?
    I know that you can load PPT(X), FLV, JPG, PNG, and MP3 file and they should display properly in the mobile app. MP4, F4V, and PDF may also work, but I'm not 100% sure on those.
    I do know that SWF content does not currently work in the mobile app.

    Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com? Please include the air app or download URL to help us reproduce the problem.

  • TextField clipping in Adobe Air

    I just noticed something unsettling with Adobe Air. I have a
    TextField set to "Times New Roman". If you make the text "fffffff",
    the last "f" gets clipped. This doesn't happen you play the same
    thing using the Flash Player. Has anyone ever noticed this?

  • Adobe AIR 2.0 support for Vista SP2

    I need a quick information about Vista SP2 support in Adobe AIR 2.0

    Is there something in particular you are concerned about?  We've tested AIR extensively with Vista SP2 systems, though I see we specify SP1 on our system requirements page.  I'll try and find out clarification on our system reqs page if that's what you're concerned about.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Air definitely gone.

    One of my most used apps was Vault by XLabz. It and about a dozen others are dead on my Z30 in BB10.3.1 . Here is the response from XLABZ.
    "Vault and most of our older apps were build using a technology called Adobe AIR. BlackBerry ceased support for Adobe AIR with their latest OS update and any app that you have on your device which used Adobe AIR (a lot of them on BlackBerry World) would cease to function as a result of this. The only other platform that is supported is Android.
    We are now building a native Android version of Vault to counter this issue but that would mean a few things:
    1) If you have all your data backed up to DropBox your data would be safe there and you can restore the data from DropBox as soon as we release the Android version on BlackBerry World. However, if you don't have backups then there is no way to get the data back or even back it up now since you can't use the old app anymore to do that.
    2) When the update is released, you would have to manually delete the old app and install the new version. Upgrading alone will not work. However, deleting the old app will also delete all files that you had saved locally for the app - but if you have your data backed up already, there is nothing to worry about.
    3) We don't have an ETA for the release and it could take close to 3-4 weeks for us to release the Android version in BlackBerry World.
    4) If you don't want to wait and if you already have a Android device with Google Play access, the native Android version is already available there and you can buy it from there.
    We understand that this is a big inconvenience for you as a user and our sincere apologies for this. However, as developers we don't drive platform decisions for BlackBerry so there was nothing we could do about this."
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    just to add some more information:
    1) Adobe has decided to drop Flash support for mobile. This means that in case of security issues, Adobe refuses to fix them for the mobile Flash. So BlackBerry and Google are removing the Flash support on their respective mobile OSes (BB10 and Android).
    2) Adobe is also dropping Air support for mobile. Same story as above.
    3) Air developers were notified of the Air support interruption in 10.3, several months ago. The standard procedure for them is to design a new version of their app, this time made in Air in Android, and release it to BlackBerry World, with the same application ID. This way, the files from the previous version are still accessible by the new version of the app. It seems this developer did not achieve all that in time before the release of OS 10.3.
    4) for a reason unknown to me, Android is not officially planning on dropping Air support.

  • How do I develop for multiple screen resolutions using Adobe Air

    Hi,
    I'm looking at developing mobile apps using Adobe Air but there's something I'm not quite sure. Sorry if this is a newbie question or has been repeated but I have looked at tutorials, etc but just want to get a general idea on how to prepare the assets. Here are some of my questions:-
    1) If I want to develop for the iPhone non-retina and retina resolution, do I actually need to only write the code and layout the graphics in retina(960 x 640) stage size and it will automatically scale down for non-retina resolution?
    2) How do I cater for iPhone 5 resolution? Do I actually need to swap say the background images through code by detecting the resolution size it was in? or do I actually just leave the background image longer it exceeds the stage height so when it's iPhone 5 it will show everything?
    thanks for the help!

    If you are talking about regular Flash work, and not your own code-layout application, then what happens depends on the scale mode of the stage. Typically, when doing code layout the stage is set to no_scale, and you have to do all the hard work yourself, calculating the size of things, and laying them out with ActionScript.
    If it's more of a typical Flash graphical scene there are two other scale modes that make life easier for you.
    The default scale mode is show_all. With that you will be certain to see all of the content of your original Flash stage, and if the screen is a wider ratio than your stage, the content that is off the sides of the stage will be revealed. See this app I made, that uses that technique:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/meet-heckerty-funny-interactive/id514220257?mt=8
    It works well enough, I have enough extra background graphics to go out to a 16:9 screen, including iPhone 5. That particular stage is 1024x768, and it will scale all the way from iPad 3 Retina down to iPhone 3gs.
    The other scale mode that is useful is no_border. In that mode you are certain to not have any black borders around the stage. It achieves that by cropping into either the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage. See these apps I made, that work that way:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/milkshake-mayhem/id556962979?mt=8
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/p.s.-snowflake-yourself/id571384475?mt=8
    In both of those cases I have content that is correct for half way between the ratio limits of 16:9 and 4:3 (or 9:16 and 3:4 for the portrait case). When the app runs on your device, some amount of the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage is cropped. I have enough background content for that to be ok, and all of the important content is within the middle 14:9 or 9:14 area of the screen. The stage size for the landscape app is 1680xx1080, exactly 14:9. This approach is better than the show_all one, in that the user doesn't feel like they are seeing a lot of blank space, as can be the case when viewing a 4:3 stage on a 16:9 screen.
    One last thing, even with either of those techniques the app won't fill the iPhone 5 screen. To get that to work you have to include a splash screen that is 640x1136, and name [email protected]. With that in place iOS knows to make your app use the full width or height of the iPhone 5.

  • AIR package size & and why Adobe AIR rules..

    Here is one for all the flash dooms-dayers:
    I just published my app Gig Ink to Amazon App store. My app is now on iTunes for iPad/iPhone/iPod, Android Market for over 460 phones and tablets, and soon for Blackberry and desktop for mac/pc/linux with no runtime needed as I use captive runtime to package. And soon I will have access to Stage3D using the GPU to render full 3D content AND with Native Extensions I can do In-App billing, native notifications etc..
    Every one of them is the same 1 project in Flash Builder, same code, works landscape/portrait/phone/tablet etc. etc. etc.
    If I tried to do that with native code I would have to employ 5 separate developers and pay them heaps and anytime a change or update occurs... no way.
    Honestly are people thick? Doesn't anyone get how awesome this is, considering the massive and constant changes to web development recently?
    I hope Adobe know how important Flash Builder/AIR/AS3 is to a lot of developers now focusing on apps and keep making it better. My No 1 request? Reduce the file size of packaged AIR for captive runtime, possible allow us to select only dependant classes? Any suggestions? Is this an issue others think important?
    Cheers
    Blackmarketbear Mobile

    I totally agree with blackmarketbear !!
    Developing for mobile devices using Adobe AIR, Flex and Flash Builder brings exceptionnal productivity, and reduces a lot development cost !! =D
    However, the only drawback to this is the final packaged file size which won't let users download the app via 3G on Apple Store...
    This is such a big issue i think since our last client wanted his app to be downloadable via 3G ... =(
    I hope Adobe is working on this point, it is really important and if no improvment is made, i might fall into another development solution (native development with Java and Objective-C ...)
