Mobile TV replacement - Not happy :(

Verizon gave ample warning of it's demise, however they suggested I would like it's replacement better. Kept and open mind. Had it going on 2 weeks. A zillion video clips from different shows, news outlets etc. Driving me nuts. I watched live tv on my phone everyday. FoxNews most of the time. In case of local or news, it was great and emergency events such as a hotstage situation in our area, the landing in the hudson etc... I could stay on top of current news.  These clips are OLD news, most of the clips are 1-3 minutes so, I have to keep reaching and selecting a new video, the orientation to landscape has to be initiated by touching and icon on the screen, then it switeches back to portrait over and over for no apparent reason and the BUFFERING msg comes up. Not happy. Guess it's time to see what carrier now has live mobile TV. I saw FloTV which was what this was on The Apprentice and looked like they are hoooking up w AT & T.

  • Verizon Wireless stores do not carry Droid X replacement - not happy with the service.

    My Droid x screen went out, I took it back to the Verizon Wireless Store do not carry replacement and they will have to mail a replacement to me, since it is Friday I will not get the phone until Monday or Tuesday. I asked the tech person what do I use in the meantime, he said to use an old phone. The other option was to pay $100 to get a new replacement phone off the shelf. I explained to the tech person that I pay good money for the insurance and they should keep replacement phones in stock.

    I have replaced phones under warranty through Motorola before and once I had one shipped to me from Motorola themselves,  another occasion I had one sent by Asurion.  I was a bit suspicious about the insurance replacement phone and talked to them directly.  I had not been charged my deductible but my insurance did indeed show one claim, so I spoke to the carriers 800 number and had to get it all sorted, they sent me my replacement phone and I sent insurance their phone back.   
    So if you ever get a phone sent by the Insurance company, I'd call and ask them how many claims you have used.
    Hmmmmm..... Food for thought, didnt think of that.

  • I have a replacement Note 3.  My Vodafone SIM, which worked fine in the original, fails in the replacement.  When I try to access Settings, the menu briefly flashes, then the phone reverts to the home page.  Will a Factory Data Reset fix this?

    I have a Note 3 and a Vodafone SIM that are not playing well together. 
    The history is:
    I got my Note 3 over 2 years ago.  We visited Italy 2 years ago and I bought a Vodafone sim at a Vodafone outlet.  Everything worked perfectly during that trip and a subsequent trip to France.
    Last October, I had to replace the Note 3 because the camera was failing.  I had insurance, so the insurance company sent me a refurbished Note 3. When I tried to use the SIM last December, the Note 3 had problems. When I put the SIM in and started the Note 3, the phone recognized the sim (but gave me an error that, according to Verizon, is spurious).  I could make phone calls but I could not access the data network.  In order to access the data network, you have to go into Settings. More Settings, Mobile Networks and set the Access Point Name.
    With the replacement Note 3, I cannot access Settings.  As soon as I try to access Settings (with the Vodafone SIM installed), the Settings menu appears and then immediately the home screen comes up.  After working with Verizon for over an hour, I was able to get into Settings and set the access point name by booting into Safe mode.  But as soon as I rebooted into 'normal' mode, Settings failed and I could not access its menu (to turn on wifi, for example).  There are a couple of other apps that did the same thing - but I cannot remember which ones.
    I have talked to Vodafone - they have no clue.  I talked to a Samsung rep I ran into at Best Buy, he thought the Vodafone SIM might be corrupted.  And now a Verizon tech I talked to last week thinks it is a firmware problem on the phone and I should do a Factory Data Reset.
    Have you ever heard of this problem?  What do you think might be causing it?

    On2CO,  I'm glad you have reached out to us today. Thank you so much for the very detail description on what is going on with the device. Sounds like there might be an issue with an application that might be causing these issues. The reason I say that is, when the phone is in Safe Mode you are able to access the Settings screens with no issues. While in Safe Mode that does block all 3rd party applications from running on the phone. I would suggest on trying to back up the device and perform a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6-182Vuo (you would want to make sure to uncheck Automatic Restore in step 3). Once the reset is complete try to see if you can get into Settings. Then, I would recommend on adding 3rd party applications back on to the device one by one to see if we can find what app might be causing this issue.   • Ex-Uverse customer not happy with being a new Fios customer

    We just had our Fios Triple installed on Saturday 9/30/13. I was a very happy Uverse customer.  We moved to Verizon territory and we wanted something similar so we chose Verizon vs Direct TV and Charter Cable.  Verizon Fios is far inferior to my experience with AT&T Uverse. It wasn't just one person but the whole experience. I never called AT&T's customer service in the years we had it. We had no problems. I just got off the phone for the sixth time since our install and  it hasn't been a week yet. 
    Issue 1) Installer called at 8:30am to tell us he needs to come earlier than our 10am-3pm appointment. I explained we were moving and was signing the lease at 9am that is why we set a 10am-3pm appointment so we would have the key, TVs and phone in our place ready for the install. The installer said well he was scheduled for 2 appointments during that time frame so he doesn't know if he could make it at all if he doesn't come now. I told him it was ok to come after 3pm but please call and let us know since we are moving in. I thought about the situation and as a former dispatcher myself, I knew we shouldn't have gotten that call. I called customer service to let them know installer might not be able to show at all and gave them heads up. We got a call back from the installer telling us he will keep the set appointment time. He showed at 1pm
    Issue 2) The installer showed with a bad attitude. Our place was already set up for Fios. The previous resident had it installed so it shouldn't have been a hard job. He was complaining he needed to drill a hole to install the Router in the living room.  I told him no problem the hole can be covered with the TV and furniture. There was only one wall that the TV could go on so I asked what was the alternative outside of canceling the order. He placed a small hole next to the Verizon box so I wasn't sure what his issue was. It was obvious he didn't want to come to work that day. He took what I thought a long time to set up DVR, Set Top Box,router and phone. I tried hard not to compare AT&T installer to Verizon installer because people have different personalities. This installer wasn't friendly and AT&T went out of his way to tell us what he was doing, gave us feedback and walked us through all three. To put the icing on the cake, he left a nice sheet with our new phone number, att.net email, Uverse URL, wireless network connection name and key and if we had any questions in the next few days, we could call him directly since he was familiar with our set up. The Verizon installer went over the remote and left the channel line up brochure. He told us if you need the wireless network connection info for the devices,  the numbers are on the back of the modem. (Do you know how many numbers are on the back of the modem???) I know how to find the numbers but my husband didn't so I had to tell him which ones.
    Issue 3) After the install we went back to the old house and got more stuff to move. My husband said he wanted to record Homeland on Showtime can I do it from my phone like I did with Uverse. It took me 1 hour to figure it out because the website wasn't mobile so it wasn't working. I had to download 3 apps to figure out which one to use. I was so proud that I figured it out. It wasn't intuitive and it confirmed I had scheduled the recording. Monday morning I'm in front of the DVR to check my scheduled recordings. Homeland was there but didn't play. Called customer service..They said you have the Extreme HD. You need Ultimate HD. I told them I'm a customer and the names mean nothing to me. I wanted the package that had Showtime but didn't need HBO. When I placed the order originally, I told the sales agent I wanted a similar package to what we had with Uverse. I mentioned we watch Lifetime, Showtime, the Movie Channel and sports but we were going to suck it up that Uverse got Pac 12 channel last week and Fios doesn't have it. I pulled out the channel brochure and saw that there are no movie channels with the Extreme package. I think of 2 errors-1) Give us the channels we want and 2) Why was I able to appear to record from a channel we didn't subscribe to but I was made aware of the 3rd error when the new agent was confirming my order. The price for more channels was cheaper!!! Now I'm not happy at all!!!
    Issue 4) I had to look up the phone number on my account. It wasn't in the confirmation email order and of course I had to call customer service once again to get full access to my account online because the call never came through with my full access activation code. I got the code and went to set up my voice mail. I couldn't. I called customer service again and was told I didn't have a voice mail box set up on the server. I asked why. The tech said it wasn't on the order so we didn't now you wanted it. I asked is there an extra charge doesn't it come with Fios voice he said yes then I asked why isn't it just set up. He said how are we suppose to know you want it!!! I've been ordering landlines and cell phones since the 70's. I've never had to tell anyone I want voice mail. All I had to do was set it up.He said well I'll add it and it could take up to 24 hours before you can set it up. 
    Issue 5) I record Scandal and schedule to record on all types since we have HD in the living room and SD in the bedroom. We decide to watch half in the living room and the other half in the bedroom. You know the problem there.. CAN'T. I'm still frustrated with Verizon but haven't reached the boiling point until...I can't record  on Monday night The Voice and Dancing With the Stars at the same time at 8pm and Hostages and Black List at 10pm. I see 8pm shows recording as the same time as the 10pm because the networks end the shows at 10:01pm. I said well lets see if in the future one of the shows are on Video On Demand. Click on VOD and it says Temporarily Unavailable. SERIOUSLY!!!! I call customer service. I get a tech. He transfers me to a sales agent to make sure I have VOD in my package. She gets an ear full  of my problems and gives me a $20 discount per month for 12 months. I didn't boil over..Still frustrated but appreciated that finally someone tried to make me happy. She transfers me to tech to fix DVR issues and VOD. Tech can't fix SD/HD or recording my 4 Monday night shows. The DVR has limitations that I didn't have with Uverse. VERIZON -time to get up to speed and fast with your DVR limitations. It can be solved with allowing more recordings at the same time...DUH!! You guessed it..Video on Demand was never set up for our account. It will take up to 24 hours to add this service that even comes with the basic Fios!!! I asked the tech how does this happen! When an order is placed isn't there a check list to make sure all the features are activated. He said yes but the agent didn't order VOD. Now to me that makes no sense for the agent to have to order set up for something that comes with a package. It should be a part of the check list.
    Verizon..All I can say is, you guys have got to get this together. There needs to be a customer complaint hotline because I now get to tell everyone on this forum and all my social media accounts how poor your set up for new customers and how your DVR service is lacking. I asked during each call if there was a general customer relations department for Fios one agent said yes and gave me the number to Verizon Wireless customer relations...oops!! I happen to be a wireless customer and they got an ear full and apologized for your incompetence. They didn't have a number and got off the phone embarrassed that they shared the same name.

    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.   • Apple Mobile Device Is Not Started

    OK so updating Itunes to 10 has caused me a whole slew of problems. First there was the issue of it recognizing it as a camera which I never got that part fixed cause when I tried to update the driver as instructed, it told me it was already up to date.
    First off, when I updated to 10, my computer blue screened and upon restart, I kept getting a bad image error message that wouldn't go away unless I went in and repaired itunes, which upon restart, it was bad again.
    So I got that fixed by unistalling and reinstalling, which plugging in my ipod told me that I needed to be using 64bit itunes...which I was. I got that fixed.
    Now my problem is that when I plug in my ipod, it tells me that I can't use it because the apple mobile device has not been started. Alright, so I go into services to manually start it as troubleshooting guides have told me.
    Problem. It tells me that it can't be started because the file cannot be found.
    Just so we're clear, I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes several times. I have gone through the instructions and uninstalled all associated programs in the specified order and went through the test to make sure itunes was completely removed and then did a fresh install. I still get the same issue.
    This is really frustrating me because I recently had to get my ipod replaced by apple so all the music I had on it, I never really got around to resyncing it just yet because not all of it was added to itunes. So I've got all this music and videos that I can't put on it unless I want to put it all on a portable harddrive and download it to the desktop (which runs vista and itunes 10 had no issues on it) and add it that way...but I'd really not want to that because that's tedious when it's already all on this computer. My ipod software is up to date, as well.
    Please, someone help me.

  • Is there an option to go back to the regular menu bar so I don't have to select from the tab. Not happy at all with the new interface

    I would like to know if I can restore the old interface. I don't like it, and rather select from a a menu instead of going to a tab to get the old menu options. I only use Firefox and not fond at all of the other browsers.
    Although I am not happy with the one change, It still beats the other browsers so far.

    Here are my own tips to make FF4 look like the previous version.<br><br>
    * Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the search bar.<br><br>
    * Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top.<br><br>
    * To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there.<br><br>
    * To replace the status bar at the foot of the page, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

    i replaced my apple iphone4,Because that having some technical problems.but when i get new iphone4 that does't have the previous contents that is my contacts,purchased items etc...,but the backup cd is in my hand and also my itunes having the whole content but the device is connecting to my pc,getting this message that is THIS IPHONE  CANNOT BE USED BECAUSE THE APPLE MOBILE DEVICE SERVICE NOT STARTED.

  • Mobile me data not syncing to iPhone?

    Calendar and contact entries made on my Mac are showing in Mobile me but not on my iPhone? I've reset both the computer ans the phone but still nothing...any thoughts/ Thanks.

    Try removing the mobile me account from iPhone... then reset the sync data... either replace what's on the cloud with what's on the MAC or vise versa...
    Then add the mobile me account back again... that should resolve...
    I just had to do this and it worked for me... prior to this no contacts or anything showed up on iPhone even though the mobile me account was installed and I could send and receive email... calendar and contacts were absent until I performed these steps...

  • Extortion instead of warranty? not happy!

    Hi - I live in Singapore & my macbook hd failed 2 weeks ago
    The shop sent it back to apple where after one week I got a phone call with the following message:
    The hd needs replacing, which is covered by warranty.
    They wanted to know how to proceed with my data.
    First option I pay 150$ for data transferal.
    OR I come down and bring a spare hd and they do it for free.
    As I don't have a spare I want to give to apple, I asked them to not to worry just give me the old disk and I pull whatever I can off that.
    The service guy didn't know if that's possible, he'd ask the boss and call me back.
    10mins later I got a call saying if I want a warranty replace for the new disk AND keep my old one I can BUY the broken one from Apple. The price is 375$.
    LOL - I can buy 5 brand new Hard-disks for that kinda money...
    SO:
    My mac fails under warranty, but to have my data recovered I either have to pay a recovery fee of 150 or buy the broken disk for 375. As computers are generally useless without data and I have been storing things for 18years I find I have little choice..
    I call that EXTORTION.

    Here's some various excerpts from the scope of support provided to you.
    +"The products or parts that are replaced become Apple’s property. Apple strongly advises you to record as a back up, data and software residing or recorded in the Covered Equipment, before having the Covered Equipment available for repair or replacement services."+
    +b. Limitations. The Plan does not cover: (xii) Damage to, or loss of any software or data residing or recorded in the Covered Equipment.+
    So under the terms of the one-year "limited" warranty, Apple is under no obligation to you regarding data recovery or a data transfer. They are also stating that if they arrange service on your hard drive than they can keep the old drive.
    Most of what I copied and pasted from the Terms & Conditions is located on the first page, in the first paragraph.

  • Why does my browser keep on opening things in mobile version and not desktop version?

    hi everyone,
    i just picked up my imac today and i'm trying to get used to it. here's one of many questions i have:
    why do certain pages like facebook and hotmail sign in always open up in the mobile version and not desk top? how can i change the settings so that things will open only in the desk top version?
    i went into develop and clicked on the latest safari but that didn't do anything.
    it's annoying changing it every time i go into those sites.
    any help would be much appreciated.

    Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data if you haven’t already done so. Before proceeding, you must be sure you can restore your system to the state it’s in now.
    Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select  ▹ Force Quit... from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
    In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
    Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
    Caches/Metadata/Safari
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
    Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.

    If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that will have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
    If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
    Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
    If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • Can some one help me with diagnostic test result " apple mobile device driver not found"?

    I bought an iPhone 4gs 32gb from Singapore. iso 4. I'm living in Chennai, India. To connect it to my computer (windows XP,), I have downloaded iTunes 10.6.1.7. Unfortunately iTunes is not recognizing my iPhone.  I had tried to troubleshoot it by reinstalling iTunes (2 times). I have restarted the apple mobile device from control panel. I try connecting my iphone in another usb port. but no use. I don't know what am I missing?.  iTunes opens on my computer. but doesn't recognize my device. when I click on help. it says an "unknown error has occurred. your computer is not connected to internet. please check your internet connection and try again later". I don't know what to do? could you please help me? thank you so much for your help and time.
    when I update the usb driver (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.Double-click the usbaapl file.) I followed the procedure from this site. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 when I finished, it says "the specified location does not contain information about your software"

    I have the same problem. I think that someone tried my iphone before me because when I want to reset it, I'm invited to enter a password that I didn't set. Also, when I go the Map application, the iphone indicate that I'm locateded in China while I'm in Tunisia. Now, I can't connect to my iphone to itunes, and I can't reset it because it ask me to enter a password that I didn't set.

  • Not happy with moving around keys on the timeline

    I just changed from Final Cut to Premiere CS5.0 and I really like it. Working on a Macbook Pro i5 2.3GHZ, Mac OSX 10.7 But I am not happy with moving around on the timeline. I was used to using the up and down arrows to move to next video edit point, marker point or audio edit point. I tried everything to change it, highlighted the track etc. It only works together with the FN key, which is a bit uncomfortable. And then it definetely is not going to any audio edit points (very annoying!!!) and marker points (have to use Q and W keys). It makes me doubting if continuing with Premiere or not. Its such an esencial and easy to use tool while editing in a normal fast editing rythm. When I change it in the customize keyboard menu, into a Custom keyboard or FCP keyboard, it would ignore my changes on the arrowkeys, although it recognizes any other changes I do. Is it so complicate to change this issue in Premiere to how it is set in FCP? Its such an obvious tool, using the arow keys to move around, cannot beleive that we have to live with such a limitation. Please!!!

    You dont have to live with that at all if you are fixed only to what you have previously done.
    It makes me doubting if continuing with Premiere or not.

  • With iTunes match, order of the songs in my playlist of mobile devices is not the same as on my computer

    In my iTunes on computer, I have several smart play lists. Within each playlist, songs are set to a certain order. Some playlist songs order are organized by name, some playlists are organized by Album, some playlists are organized by artist etc.
    When I was syncing my iPhone and iPad directly with my computer, the playlists on my mobile device had same order of songs as on my itunes in computer.
    Now, I signed up for iTunes match. With iCloud sync, order of the songs in my playlist of mobile devices is not the same as on my computer. In fact, order of songs within a playlist appears to be completely random. Moreover, order of songs are different in my iPhone 4s and iPad 2
    How can I change the order of songs on my mobile devices or how do I make iTunes match to sync my songs such that within a playlist, my songs are in the same order as that of iTunes on my computer.

    Thanks mracole. I assume this means order of songs will work with regular play lists I iTunes match. Will try it this afternoon and report.

  • I keep getting an error message when I plug my iPhone into my computer.  It says, "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device has not been started." This has never happened before when I plugged it in - now the iPhone won't show up at all.

    Someone please help!  I do not know how to fix this.  It keeps saying my Mobile Device has not been started and I can't get my phone to show up in the iTunes window AT ALL. It will charge while plugged in, but it just won't come up in iTunes.

    Sorry, the error message should read, "...the Apple Mobile Device service has not been started."
