MOH Fixed Audio-Recognizing MOH-USB-Audio on 7835

I am trying to set up a Cisco MOH-USB-Audio card (which is actually a C-Media UTA3100).
On a MCS7825 with OS 2000.4.4aSR8 this is no problem. With a MCS7835 and same OS it doesn't work.
It displays the card in Hardware-Device manager.
But in Control Panel-Sounds&Multimedia-Audio-Sound Recording-Preferred Device I get no recording Devices.
So it seems to be platform dependant.
Does anyone have an idea how to get it to work on the MCS7835 ?
Kris

The Cisco supported card is :
? Griffin Technologies iMic USB
A USB sound device supported in Cisco CallManager Release 3.3(5) and later, with Microsoft Windows 2000 (OS 2000 version 2.7 or later). This device is supported on all Cisco MCS-78xxH or MCS-78xxI servers with 3.0 GHz or greater processor.
Here are the instructions on how to set Fixed Audio Source up :
"Configuring the Music On Hold Fixed Audio Source"
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_callmg/4_0/sys_ad/4_0_1/ccmfeat/fsmoh.htm#90469
* - On the MOH configuration page, for 'MOH Fixed Audio Source Device' enter the name of
the soundcard that you installed. This name must be entered exactly as found in the
'Sounds and Multimedia Properties' window in the control panel. The name is also case
sensitive.

  • M-Audio Mobile Pre USB audio interface compatibility w/ FCP

I am trying to do voiceovers in FCP with my mic connected to the XLR input on a M-Audio Mobile Pre USB audio interface.
The first time I did this, even though I got a signal in System Preferences audio input, I would get no signal in the Voiceover Tool window in FCP. I know I chose the correct source, input and rate for the device. I rebooted and it worked. Then on another day a reboot would not make it work. Now I can’t make it work again. Upon opening FCP with the USB interface connected OSX crashed. This almost never happens ether with the system in general or since I installed FCP 5.1. This has happened twice. I also started this whole process by updating to the newest driver for the M-Audio device. I liked the sound I got when it worked so any help with this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks for that link...that's what I saw months ago, and I realize I got a few of the specifics mixed up. UNFORTUNATELY, I tried those tips and I still have the exact same problem. I also went to M-Audio and downloaded the most recent driver. I did a variety of starts and re-starts where the unit was connected or not upon start up...whether phantom power was on or off at start up, etc etc. And by start up I mean both starting GB only, and/or starting up my Mac. I tested using the interface through both of the USB ports. All yield the same result. The only thing I didn't test yet is changing the USB cable itself.
Any more thoughts? You think the interface is bad?

  • Recording with M-Audio Fast Track  USB Audio Interface

New Mac owner and am completely lost. I am wanting to record guitar and vocal tracks into GB and when I plugged in the M-Audio I could see a wave file when after I hit the record button but I couldn't hear anything. I selected it as the default for input and output and turned the monitor on...but am getting zero sound. HELP!

I actually just picked one up and this is what the process is...
I must reiterate the first line... Do not install any of the packaged software as it does not help, or do anything beneficial... just use Garageband.
This is to record a plug in guitar.
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO LOAD ANY DISCS THAT COME WITH THE DEVICE
    1. Connect M-Audio Fast Track USB to appropriate USB port on computer.
ex. MacBook Pro - use forward port (port furthest away from display)
Also, see note 2 for M-Audio knowledge base, support etc...
    2. Open System Preferences and:
-Select M-Audio Fast Track USB icon
-Select "About" button and note Audio Firmware version
-Select "Updates" to open M-Audio web site
-Select: USB Audio Series<Fast Track USB< MAC OS 10.5.7 (or appropriate operating system)
-Note version number of latest drive and download if
    necessary to update your M-Audio
    - Select "Sound" in Hardware row of System Preferences
-Select "Input" button and select M-Audio Fast Track USB
    - No need to change "Output" regardless of how you want to listen to playback!
    3. Connect guitar to M-Audio box (a pre-amp will boost output, but is not necessary)
    - Make sure button on rear of M-Audio box is selected properly for guitar
    4. Open Garage Band (Do Not open Garage Band prior to connecting M-Audio)
    - Select New Project - Electric Guitar
    5. Open Garage Band Preferences
    - Select "Audio/MIDI" button
    -Audio Output select:
    - "Built-in Output" to use computer's speaker or headphones/speakers connected directly to computer OR
    - "M-Audio Fast Track USB" to listen to headphones/speakers
connected directly to M-Audio box (use Mix knob and Output knob on front of M-Audio box to control ouput if choosing this set-up)
    -Audio Input select:
    -"M-Audio Fast track USB"
    6. Choose an Amp model in Garage Band
    - Double-click picture of amp (this displays rear picture of amp and access to settings)
-Select: Input Source : Mono2(M-Audio Fast Track USB) NOT MONO 1!
of if using Mic and guitar : Stereo2 (M-Audio Fast Track USB)
    7. Record
This saved me from throwing the thing out the window... It works well now!

  • My MacBook is not recognizing my USB audio input.

The hardware (Guitar Rig Session I/O) is lighting up (so it's drawing power) and System Profiler shows that it is attached to the USB, but says it is unconfigured. I've updated all my software (currently using OS X 10.5.8), but when I open System Preferences->Sound, it's not there.

    Reset your SMC and PRAM.

  • Low Audio Level for USB Audio device

    Hello,
I'm recording a voice over for a keynote presentation.
-The internal mic records just fine, but when I use an external usb mic, the level into keynote registers very low.
    - in the system preferences the audio input for this exteral mic is perfectly fine.
-the mic has been tested in a pc and records just fine at a good level
-the same thing happens when I run a mic through a mixing board and use the line in on the mac...it shows up fine in audio settings, but has a low level in keynote.
    any ideas?

I'm glad you mentioned the preset, Silal. I kept meaning to bring that up, but forgot.
Set Preprocessing to None. That will keep high level short duration sounds, like drums, etc., from overtaking your dialog, and crushing it.
The way DIALNORM is intended to work, you set it to the average level of your dialog from your editing app. If you're working in FCP, then that might be something like -12. That setting will cause the player to attenuate the level so dialog is attenuated by 19dB (-31 minus -12 = 19dB of attenuation by the player).
That, in turn, allows the ridiculously loud music and nat sounds in the film soundtrack to sound "more natural", as they blast your ear drums into bits. "More natural" means "much louder than dialog, just like they are in real life".
Bah, humbug! Let me hear what the talent is saying. I don't care if I can hear every nuance of that rock ballad, I just want to be able to follow the story, the plot.
Hey, I'm an old dude, you whippersnappers.
But back to the point, by setting DIALNORM to -31, the player works out the math like this:
    -31 minus -31 = 0dB of attenuation
So, your level should be exactly what it was before the compression/conversion. Why it isn't is a mystery, still.

  • Kanex MIni DisplayPort+USB Audio to HDMI Adapter --NO SOUND

    Hi,
I just purchased a Kanex Mini DisplayPort+USB Audio to HDMI Adapter for my new Samsung flat screen so I could watch netflix movies. The guy at Tekserve (NYC based authorized dealer) said it's really cool b/c it's audio and video all in one. Two cables are attached to a small box on one side and on the other side of the box is for the HDMI cable which goes to the TV (most of you prpbably already know this) .
The two attached cables fit into the the USB (audio) + mini display port. The video works great, but no sound. I called Apple for tech support and we tried a few things like changing the sound output to USB, but no luck.
I can call Tekserve on Monday, but would love to figure this out before then for the week-end.
    Thanks everyone for your help.
    Mary

There are actually 2 different Mini Display port to HDMI adapters from Kanex. One supports 2 channel audio through the USB audio out cable, which is the one you have Mary. The other one with the extra audio plug cable supports 5.1 digital audio.
    http://kanexlive.com/products/item.aspx?id=3323
    http://kanexlive.com/products/item.aspx?id=3495
I don't have either of these adapters but I would think that you "should" be able to go into your System Preferences under Sound. If the USB plug from the adapter is plugged into your MacBook, then it should show up in the output window in the Sound preferences which you would then choose instead of outputting the sound to the built-in MacBook speakers.
At the bottom of the product description page of the adapter that you have (the USB 2.0 version), it says this:
+Sound Output setting on Macs must be changed to "USB Sound Device/USB Type" to have the adapter operating correctly.+*
Let us know if you get it working properly. I'm considering getting one also.
Sorry.... I just re-read your initial post and it sounds like you already DID try switching the sound output to USB with no luck. The only other thing I can think of is the adapter might be bad and maybe exchange it for another one from where you purchased it. Or you could maybe exchange it for the 5.1 digital audio out version. Although it sounds like your sound is going directly into the tv via HDMI and not a surround sound receiver.
Kanex does have tech support and contact links on their web page. Maybe you should email them directly about your problem. Unfortunately I'm sure you'll have to wait til sometime during the work week to get a reply back.

  • L305SD-S5874 Audio recording issues to USB Audio Interface

I am hearing snaps and pops recording audio through a USB audio interface attached to my laptop.I am using an external Hard Disk connected to a card buss e sata interface. Audio plays fine but snaps and pops are heard when
recording or even when an input channel is selected but idle.I have the latest drivers installed.People in other forums are saying that these problems  are due to my using a " cheap" laptop with poor IRQ sharing implementation in the chipset. Is anyone using a similar computer this way with no problems ? I have recorded audio for years to much less powered computers with good results.

Sounds like you're listening to the same source (the X6) being played twice.
Could be you are hearing  MIDI thru playback as well as Logic's "Software Monitoring" you must also be enabling a MIDI track for recording. If you unhook the MIDI connection from the X6 does the hollow sound go away.
What Audio interface are you using? The other possibility is your Audio Interface has "Direct Monitoring" this allows you to monitor the audio inputs before it goes into the computer. Having Logic's Software Monitoring enable along with Direct Monitoring would also produce the hollow sound.
I suggest the thorough reading of the manual so you understand what all the preferences do. Most of the time it is better to read and understand/experiment on your own. It's one thing to be shown something another to figure it out for yourself.
Here's a Link to all of the Preferences/Audio settings.

  • [SOLVED] Udev: recognising plugging/unplugging of USB Audio Device

    Hi!
I am trying to write an udev rule to detect if an usb audio device was plugged / unplugged to change my default audio device (in effect this udev rule should run a bash script..).
Right now it looks like that:
    KERNEL=="pcmC[D0-9cp]*", DRIVERS=="usb", ACTION=="add", PROGRAM="/bin/bash -c '/home/me/dotfiles/soundconf.sh attached'"
and I have a second rule for "remove" instead of add calling a different parameter.
However, unfortunately the change is not being detected. my sound devices are listed in e.g. /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c etc for my first card and /proc/asound/card4/... for the second.
They are also listed in /proc/asound/NAMEOFCARD (e.g. PCH).
how can i reliably detect if one was plugged or unplugged?
    thanks !

  • USB Audio Device Not Recognized by Stream 7 tablet

Half the reason I bought the Stream 7 was to use it has a music player with my iBaso D2 USB Audio DAC Headdphone Amp.
The device is recognnized by my Win 8.1 desktop and every other computer I've plugged it into.  Why it is not recognized as an audio playback device is beyond me.  I've tried all of the suggestions that I've been able to find on the net without any luck.  Is therte some reason why this function has been disabled on the Strwea 7?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Problem Solved!
It turned out to be a combination of the usb cable and the OTG USB hub.  On my desktop the iBaso was cable specific as to the device being recognized.  When I tried the working cable witht the OTG hub on the Stream 7 it failed as usual.  But when I tried the cheap monoprice adapter it worked.
The usb audio solves the horrible sound problem with the Stream 7 for anybody who is lookiing for a Fix.
The OTG hub works with a mouse and  a mSata drive perfectly but not with the iBAso DAC.
Thanks to everyone who replied for keeping me trying.

  • USB audio not recognized

Hello All! I have a late 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina display and a powered speaker system that connects with USB. Now I have a late 2009 MacBook Pro that these work just fine with. Both Computers are running Mavericks with all the latest updates. Using them with the 2009 Pro I get the option for "USB audio DAC" under the sound settings in System Prefs, but nothing on the late 2012 Pro. I really need to fix this so any help would be awesome! Thanks!

  • Did 4.1.2 fix YOUR USB Audio problems?  Not mine...

I'm curious to hear from the other folks who were having issues with 4.1.1 freezing/sluggish while using USB speakers or USB audio converters. I have a Xitel USB-to-SPDIF converter that has worked flawlessly since 10.3 in EVERY app...until GB 4.1.1. I was expecting 4.1.2 to fix it for me as suggested, however there seems to be no change for me. If I select either USB Audio in GB preferences, or "System Setting" (which is always my USB Audio), GB is totally hosed. Spinning beachball, freezing, can only Force Quit. If I select Built-in Audio (internal speaker), then all is well. If I switch back to USB Audio, totally hosed again. What's unbelievable is that there isn't even a 3rd-party driver in the mix here, the Xitel uses Apple's built-in generic USB audio device support!!
Did 4.1.2 fix YOUR USB Audio woes??
Apple, still more work to do! Please help!

I'm also having audio issues on my new late 2013 iMac via the USB headset.  Audio starts playing fine and then static starts creeping into the audio until it drowns out the sound.  Only way to fix is to unplug the headset and then plug it back into the USB port.
I've tested the headset on other PCs and my older iMac and the issue doesn't show up.
I've re-installed Mavericks on the iMac, without nuking my data, but that still doesn't solve the issue.
I've logged a case with Apple support and they had me run a program which gathered up a bunch of information to send to their engineering team.  No updates yet so far.
Just one question for those that also have this issue.  Did you restore your data from a Time Machine backup, or is this issue also happening on the Mac that's fresh out of the box?
I'm wondering if this issue could be caused by restoring data from my Time Machine, but I don't want to go through the hassle of nuking my entier hard drive and having to reinstall everything from scratch just to fix this issue.

  • USB Audio Driver Problem fixed in 10.5.3?

Reading through quite a few topics on this forum, I know many people are experiencing problems with USB mixers/audio-recording devices and Macbook Pros running anything Leopard. The general consensus (which I agree with based on my own experience) is that it is a problem with the driver beginning in 10.5.
I know the 10.5.3 updates mentions a fix for video/audio USB playback problems, but has anyone using a USB device (to do podcasts, recording music, whatev) downloaded the update? Does it work? I hesitate to considering what the upgrade to Leopard did...

I am also having this problem. Short bursts of static using a USB audio device on my Core 2 Duo Mac Mini.
I am using a Tone Port (the GX and UX1) both exhibit the same problem. Even just playing back an MP3 I may get a burst of static while listening. I never had this problem before.
2 things have changed. The Tone Port Driver and The Tiger Update to 10.4.11
Before I realized it may be an issue with 10.4.11, I reloaded Tiger, got all the updates, then installed the latest drive for the Tone Port. Same issue. I even upgraded to 4 GB of RAM, (for different reasons).
Anyway. I would really like to know if 10.5.3 or higher fixes this. Although I hate Leopard, I would be willing to go there if it resolved this issue.
****, I thought MACs were supposed to be the **** when it came to audio and video. I guess it is all hype.

I have serious macbook usb audio issues, some help?
So recently I've been trying to get rid of my the robotic sound my macbook makes with usb audio using this tutorial:
    http://evo-wiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/FAQ/AudioProblemMacOSX1057
However after deleting a AppleUsbAudio and repairing the files permission with disk utilities it no longer works, period.
I am rather annoyed by this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
