Monitoring JMS and Sending Alerts

I am currently using OEM 10.2.0.5 to monitor an Oracle Service Bus (OSB) instance. That OSB instance contains a JMS Server, which is used to receive JMS messages at various queues. I would like to be able to monitor the message input on these queues. For example, I would like to know if I don't receive any messages over a certain period of time.
In the OEM admin console, I select the Oracle WebLogic Managed Server, then I select "Metrics and Policy Settings". I don't see any options to set threshold values for anything JMS related. However, if I select "All Metics", I see JMS Server related metrics, but they don't have threshold levels set.
How do I set threshold values for JMS related metrics so I can send alerts?

Am in the same boat man. Using WebLogic 10.1.
What I found from Oracle was that JMS metrics are NON-THRESHOLDABLE. I was like...what the **#@$$ ?!?!
What is the point in collecting so much metrics data when you cannot put thresholds on them and map them to notification rules.
For management & monitoring of middleware components like WebLogic, OSB/ALSB, ALDSP,etc EM 10g sucks man.

Is it possible for Windows 2008R2 Domain Controllers to audit when a programs are installed/uninstalled on clients and send alerts to Admins?

We have a program called Audit Wizard that we used with Windows 2003 that monitored all clients and alerted my department when a program was installed/uininstalled. since upgrading to windows server 2008R2, the program no longer works correctly.
So we are wondering if it is possible for Windows 2008R2 Domain Controllers, running at a 2008R2 forest and domain level) to be able to audit when a programs are installed/uninstalled on clients and send alerts to our Admins?
If so, How?

As far as I know, group policy can't help us do this. If you are interested, we can take a look at System Center Operation Manager and ask for suggestions in the following SCOM forum.

Monitoring and sending alerts for IDocs

Hi ,
I have Idoc scenarios both outbound and inbound.
My requirement is that whenever an Idoc goes into error state an alert should be sent to a specified person automatically.
Please also let me know ways to reprocess Inbound and outbound Idocs.

Your question is mainly for ECC, than for PI...
but you can acheive it, for instance, by creating an abap program which checks the IDoc status, and send an email to a list of persons you determined for instance in a Ztable for each idoc (message type + idoc type + idoc extension). You can scheduled this program by creating a SAP job (tcode SM36).
Another way could be to add an abap enhancement in each idoc process (inbound / outbound) to check the status of this idoc and send an email. But...
Personally, I prefer the 1st solution, as the program is scheduled, you can group several idoc errors and send only one email (!). Keep in mind this case: among 1000 inbound idocs, 750 are in error, because of a bad or a missing data in the source system... What 's the result with the 2nd solution?... it's a spam of 750 emails to the emailbox of your employees (!!!. Not sure they will appreciate...
To retreat Idoc, you can use tcode BD87. Do not give this tcode to all employees, but only to some key users, to avoid that an employee retreat several idocs which are not in its scope (because he/she did not a godd selection in the selection screen) and which should be not be retreat now (exm due to a fiscel year).

Script to monitor database and send email alerts

I don't think this is the right forum for this.
The Oracle Scheduler can certainly schedule such a script to run regularly but the issue of creating such a script is more to do with general database maintenance. It seems as though a web search should reveal some similar scripts that can be used as a base.

Monitor CPU and send output to file

Hello
I want to monitor my CPU usage and my idea was this:
1. Use Top (/usr/bin/top –n 1|head –n 3| tail –n 1|awk ’{print $2}’)
2. Send output to file
3. crontab it
My problem is now that my top command (see above) works fine in terminal, it will give me a short and clean answer; 10.5%
But when sending this to a file the output looks more like: 10.5%^^8fewfwe[]€]]@£]@£[f9@£[]^^E^Efewfwef23 (Yes i just hit my keyboard but its alot of randoms characters)
How can i fix this?
Do you have any easier solution to monitor my CPU usage, i want it to be quite often, send cpu usage to file for at least every minute, then i can import this to excel and make nice diagram.
I dont want to install any extra program so ill have to work with whats there already. Im using RHEL 4.

A better way to do it is using "sar"

In this process we define a deadline branch to monitor the deadline. If the deadline is missed, an alert is triggered and this can be sent to an email too.

BPM: After reactivating monitoring always send alert msg's

Hi all,
everytime, when I change something in the business process monitoring setup and "generate and activate monitoring", we got alert messages at the next check, which are wrong.
But it's only the first check after activating, at the second one all alerts are correct.
Does anyone know, why wrong alerts were send out at the first check and how to fix that?

in this case I only monitor background jobs.
I check the start delay and whether the job was cancelled and every time when i generate and activate it, I got an email (at the next check, not immediately) telling me that the jobs weren't started yet, but they were started.
I got this error for every job, but as mentioned only at the first check, one day later all checks work as intended.

Monitoring a remote service, then starting and sending notfification

I am a PS newbie so forgive me if this has been answered. We are migrating to SCOM2012 but have 1 2000 server that needs 1 service running on it. Since SCOM2012 can't monitor 2000 servers I need to monitor this service somehow.
I am trying to write a Poweshell script that will:
1. Detect is the remote machine is up via PING, IF so proceed to step 2 if not then QUIT
2. Get the state of a service on a remote machine (i.e. Get-WmiObject -computer S00APP07 Win32_Service -Filter "Name='Messenger'")
If the service resturns a result of STARTED then quit otherwise proceed to step 3
3. Start the service and send an e-mail to [email protected]
4. Wait 30 seconds then goto STEP 2.
So the result is that if the script finds the machine via ping it will then determine if the service is running or not. If the service is running the script will quit otherwise it will try to restar the service, send me an e-mail and then check again to see
if the service is running.
I had this mostly running in a standard cmd shell script but the "IF STATE 4 GOTO :END" isn't working and I'd rather do it in powershell

You should could also look at using WMI Eventing (Register-WMIEvent) to watch that service and send out alerts when it stops. For a more permanent solution, you should look at permanent event consumers (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa393014%28v=vs.85%29.aspx).
Not sure if it is usable in Win2K, but something to look at.

Doubt about difference between "Send to sap" and "Send EWA Alerts to SAP"

I'm on setup of a EWA but when i´m on the configuration (dates, transfers ewa to sap, archiving of EWA etc) i see 2 check boxes
that i don't know what is the difference
The path is the following
Tcode = DSWP --> Select the solution --> (the left column) Operations Setup --> Solution Monitoring --> EarlyWatch Alert --> Setup EarlyWatch Alert
Could you tell me what is the difference between "Send to SAP" and "Send EWA alerts to SAP" boxes?

The "Send to SAP" check box is used when you want to sent a Production or Test (Quality) systems EWA data to SAP for analysis.
Currently the "Send EWA Alerts to SAP" is not used at this time, and actually cannot be selected, and saved.
There should now be no doubt about the two check box fields .

Capturing the AuditLog from Aadapter and sending to sender through alert

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement where I have to send the sender system ( specially the vendor) an email if message fails at adapter level.
I need to also capture the exception or cause stated in the comm. channel adapter.
Is it possible to do this through alert ?
like the alert will capture the audit log from adapter and send it to the sender through the defined alert rule ?

Yes this is possible. Please check this blog for how to configure the alerts

You can also have a seperate alert category in ALRTCATDEF for adapter engine alerts.
Then in the alert rule you can specify the where the alert occurs as "adapter engine"
try first having an alert rule having wild card * for all fields and do NOT check "suppress multiple alerts from this rule" option.
Afterwards you can try creating more granular alert rules for specific interfaces if required.
The container element SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTEXT should be used in the alert category in ALRTCATDEF for getting the exception text from the adapter engine, communication channel. This container element will show you only first 70 characters of error text in audit log. In later PI releases from PI70 SP19 onwards there is new container element available &SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES[]& (sap note 1294312) and this will help to display the complete error text of the audit log in the alerts.

Monitoring template and alert noifications, how ?

I have set up database monitoring template with some metric tresholds for warning/alerting. Also, I applied this to the databases. Now, my question is how will i be notified (say via e-mail) once an alert has generated ? I see notification methods and notification rules, where it has its own metric settings. Do i have to apply notification rules to these databases for notifications. If so, what is the use of monitoring template ? Can i set up notifications via e-mail within the monitoring template ?

In EM12c, go to the 'Enterprise' menu, then 'Job', then 'Library'. There should be an out-of-the-box job called "DISABLE TABLESPACE USED (%) ALERTS FOR UNDO AND TEMP TABLESPACES" that you can run against your database targets, and that job will disable database-generated alerts.
If a previous admin has set up EM12c-generated alerts for undo and temp, then yes, a monitoring template will take care of disabling them. Either remove those alerts from the existing monitoring template and apply them to your targets, or create a new monitoring template based on one database's current settings, remove those warning/critical thresholds for your undo and temp tablespaces, and apply it to your targets.

Operational settings such as enabled, tracing, monitoring etc are easily set within eclipse by editing with the text editor rather than the proxy editor..
The SLA Alerts are possible to modify in the same way, but they're a bit more tricky to figure out..

Yes. I tried it. But whenever I restart m Mac, the watch folder doesn't work until I reconnect to network or run the Automator... I need a simple system that automatically connects to the network and monitor the folder, even I restart the Mac.
