Monitoring Remote Applications

Hello,
Can I use Jconsole on my local machine to monitor java applications running on a remote server (shared hosting) for which X11 forwarding has been disabled? JDK 1.5 is installed on the remote server.
If this is possible, how do i set it up?
NB: the remote server is a linux box, with apache jserv disabled and
the hosting provider does not support X11 forwarding. My Local machine is a windows xp box.

<p>JConsole will run on your Windows XP machine so you don't need X11 Forwarding. Just connect to your remote JMX agent using its JMXServiceURL.</p>
<p>Have a look at the Using JConsole documentation for more detailed information.</p>

  • How  to communicate with a remote application that uses http post to request connection

    Ok, I will try to make this simple as to avoid any
    confusion.
    I am trying to receive connection requests from remote applications installed on user pc's.
    The application uses POST method to send the request to connect to my database, and if required update some tables.
    The application is not a webpage. I have no access to the internal workings of the application nor do I have any specific information about how it sends its POST. I am sure of the following:
    The app will POST to my .cfm page
    "IsConnectionAllowed" = "yes"
    This is asking my cfm page if its ok to connect. I would need to use a <cfif> to verify the the first part of the POST is in fact
    "IsConnectionAllowed" = "yes"
    If this returns true, (the app also uses to POST to pass "username" and "password") my .cfm page will then perform a query and check the username and password against the database. If a matching record is found, the application expects my page to reply with
    "#Answer# OK- connected;"
    Once the answer is given the application will then respond with data to insert or update my tables.
    Now, I know how to do the queries and update tables etc, but I have never received data from an application before.
    I tried using the <cfform> tag with a mehod of GET, and then trying to send my reply with <cfoutput>, but that didn't work. The application doesn't give any feedback or error messages. It either connects or not.
    I also tried the <cfhttp> tag, but that didnt work either. I am not very experinced with coldfusion. I used it years ago and am just getting back into it.
    I am sure this is a pretty easy thing to do, but my methods arent working.
    Using the above information, can somone please show me how I would accomplish this communication? I can then use the same method to retrieve the data for my table updates and queries.
    Here is a sample of what I have already tried:
    <cfform method="get">
    <cfif>
    "IsConnectionAllowed" = "yes"
    <!-- I need to query a username or password. But for testing I will just give the OK to connect -->
    <cfoutput>#Answer# Ok - connected;</cfoutput>
    <cfelse>
    <!-- When I query username and password, if the query returns no records I deny the connection -->
    <cfoutput>#Answer# Not connected;</cfoutput>
    </cfif>
    </cfform>
    BTW, I have examples of this being done using .php and .asp. I need to do this using .cfm. I can post the either the .php or.asp code if it will be helpful in converting the function into a .cfm page.

    Thanks Fernis.
    That code allowed me to connect!
    I have an error on the remote application, but I think thats due to the fact that I commented out the database connection and query strings. As I am mostly concerned with connection at this point, I just wanted to test that my cfm page will recognise the POST request and send the right answer, In this case
    ##Answer## Ok - connected;
    That worked perfectly and the application received the ok to connect.
    I can now use your code as a base to carry on with my database connection and update query.
    I can't thank you enough. I wouldnt have figured that out in a million years of trial and error.
    I knew it was simple though. I was over thinking it.
    I do have one last question though... In the code you presented you have
    <cfif structKeyExists(Form,"isConnectionAllowed") AND form.isConnectionAllowed EQ "yes">
    Can you you explain this    structKeyExists(Form,"isConnectionAllowed")
    I have never seen this before. Why the Form followed by a comma? I am guessing you are asking if there is an element in the POST called "isConnectionAllowed". Is that correct?  If so, do I not need to do that for each POST'ed element such as username, password, and each of the other fields that will be updated in the session?

  • I cannot get the remote application to control iTunes On a Windows Seven Dell Notebook computer

    Hey I need some help.
    I cannot get Apple's Remote application to take control of iTunes on a Dell laptop computer.
    It says to go to the Edit menu in iTunes On your computer, click on preferences &amp; then click on devices &amp; make sure there is a tick in the box that says look for a remote, but when you go to this Menu, There is nothing that says look for a Remote.  I cannot get my iPad third generation 64GB 3G+WiFi, iPhone five, or iPod touch fifth generation To control iTunes on a Apple TV Second generation Using Apple's remote application. I have checked everything to make sure the software is up-to-date.  I can get it to control  Apple TV fine, but it will not Take control of iTunes.
    I have gone through the Pairing process but it still Will not work.  I've installed iTunes twice &amp; checked the Firewall to confirm it is not blocking bonjour OR any other Apple software.   I have even tried completely disabling the firewall. It was perfectly fine last week,  then my friend got his house broken into &amp; he asked me to go onto iCloud.com to try &amp; locate his iPad,  ever since then, it has completely stopped working.  If anybody can help, it will be gladly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Gatewayed Remote Application not displaying in ALI 6.5

    I have successfully created a Remote Web Service to display a remote application logon page. However, when I log in to the app, nothing is displayed in the portlet. I receive no errors both on the page and in ALI logging. What is going on? As far as I can tell the app is not redirecting to another server.

    Nevermind ... it was a problem in my CLASSPATH environment variable. It works now, though I haven't been able to run the fortune application either. I'll keep trying.

  • Airport Express and Iphone Remote Application

    I have G5 Power PC using 10.5 software. I have Airport Express that allows me to play my ITunes library remotely through my home sound system. I had downloaded and used the Remote application for the IPhone and it had worked well until I recently added Time Machine for backup and to set up a Home WIFI network using my cable modem connection.
    Now I am no longer able to use the Remote App on my Iphone.
    I choose the Airport Extreme network and when Remote attempts to connect to my Music Library, a receive the following:
    Remote could not connect to your library. If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure the firewall is not blocking communication with Remote.
    I am not sure where I would go to be able to see if communication is blocked.

    Thanks for your reply.
    Well. I am not using the Airport Express as a modem, but as a node for streaming music (and with lan to wan etherbridge function (proxy STA)). Very easy to notify when it does not communicate, -no music.
    I have a zyxzel modem at root to my Internet provider.
    I like to know the background info for this settings.
    I read about the multicast problem, and therefore enabled the filtering.
    I will try these settings you suggested, but is there a reason for those settings, the Th. at 2304 and the B.I. at 75?
    It could take some time to see, if these settings ajustments have any effect for my problem, but I will notify any changes.

  • How to get, from a remote application, list of groups & users?

    I need to get list of groups, and users in a group,
    and profile of a user of weblogic
    from a remote application.
    Do I need to use classes from com.bea.p13n.security.management.authentication? How?

    2 ways.. u might be able to set up trust between the domains or something and then call the UserManager and GroupManager EJBs.
    Or if u are using RDBMS authentication, you can just go against the database and write u'r own queries.

  • BPEL not able to read JMS Queue defined on a remote Application Server

    We are trying to access a JMS queue (defined on an Oracle AS different from the SOA Suite AS) through BPEL and read the payload. When I am trying to read the JMS queue, somehow it is trying to get the queue information from my local application server and not going to the remote one.
    I have done the following setups on my local SOA Suite Enterprise manager for the queue connection factory. The adapter name is "eis/jms/XXXQueueAdapter"
    connectionFactoryLocation: jms/ESBSubscriberQueue
    factoryProperties:
    java.naming.factory.initial=oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory;java.naming.provider.url=opmn.ormi://hostname:port; java.naming.security.principal=oc4jadmin;java.naming.security.credentials=Password
    Where "hostname:port" is for the remote Application Server.
    On the BPEL side, I have created a connection for the Remote server in the Enterprise Manager. Then I have created a partnerlink using this connection. The OEMS is "File/Memory". The Destination Name is the Queue name on the Remote AS which I can browse. The JNDI name is "eis/jms/XXXQueueAdapter" (Which is the name of the connection I created on my local). Somehow when the BPEL process is run, it is trying to look for the JMS Queue on my local server.
    I have also used the Third Party option instead of Oracle AS with the same configuration and it does not work either.
    Any help would be really appreciated.

  • Monitor remote MaxDB

    We have installed SAP Content Server with MaxDB on Windows 2003 server for DMS project and would like to manage the MaxDB with DBACOCKPIT from our ERP 6.0 system.
    Instructions say: "To monitor remote databases via database connections, you need to install appropriate database client software and the database-dependent part of the SAP dbsl libraries."
    Where would we get these for i5/OS?  We are on V6R1M0.
    TIA,
    Margie

    Hi Margie,
    yes, you are fully correct, you do need the DB client Software ...
    Yes, this is since about 2 years available for MaxDB on iSeries ))
    Go and get the patch lcc_2-20001357.sar (if you are on kernel 7.0 unicode)
    ... you have to check a bit for the installation instruction as you NEED to use QSECOFR for this installation as this is the only "root compatible" user on iSeries ... perhaps one of the porting team could shortly describe this here ...

  • Remotable Application Module

    Hello,
    i try to make an existing application module remotable:
    Application Module Editor -> Remote -> EJB Session Bean -> Local Configurations -> Edit -> Application Module -> Middle Tier Server Type
    In the Middle Tier Server Type select-box i can't select something else than Local. In Help Content you have also remote types like Oracle9i EJB or WebLogic EJB. How can i choose Oracle9i EJB as Middle Tier Server Type?
    JDeveloper Version: 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811)
    Application: ADF Toy Store, (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/adftoystore.html)
    Daniel.

    Hi,
    If you have developed custom methods in your Business Components (on your application module, view object, or view row), and you have specified in the respective wizard that those methods should be exported to your client, then depending on your remoteable deployment platform, JDeveloper will generate the client stubs for those methods when you generate your deployment profiles for the app module.
    On the Remoteable page of the App Module wizard, you can specify to have that client stub code generated to a new project, or to an existing client project. By default, they will be generated to a new project named something like deploymentplatformClient.jpr.
    Basically, the only thing you need to be aware of for those files is that they get included with your client code when you deploy your client project. They must be available to your client code at runtime in the deployment environment.
    So, the easiest thing to do is to add these generated files to your client project. When you create a deployment profile for your client project, just make sure to include them.

  • Cluster Remote Application Module

    Is it possible to deploy remote application module in clustering environment (for JClient client application)?
    I try to deploy in two standalone OC4J, but it always failed while migrating ejb session bean to another instance. I put replication="EndOfCall" in orion-ejb-jar.xml, but "VMTermination" get the same error while OC4J is terminated. The error (in client) as follows:
    java.lang.RuntimeException: IOException encountered in end of call migration of StatefulSessionBean
    No errors found in server side, although I run OC4J with -Dcluster.debug=true and -verbosity 10.
    Please anybody help me....I've promised to my user that our application has no single point of failure. With this unresolved issue in ADF-JClient, I think I need to rewrite my application....and starting from zero :(

  • I don't know where else to post this. iTunes Remote Application

    I know they have the application "Remote" so you can control iTunes from your iPod Touch or iPhone, but is there an application that you can control your iPod Touch or iPhone from your iTunes? I see this useful because right now my computer is a laptop, therefore anytime I'm listening to music on it, I'm usually right there, no need for the remote application. But I see it as if my iPod were in a docking station or stereo, it would make sense to have an application that runs on your computer, that you can control your iPod right from your computer, or atleast like a play/pause, skip, volume type thing.

    Could you please copy/paste the link where this video that doesn't work is supposed to appear on? Perhaps we can see if this problem is limited to your settings, or is an actual server issue.

  • Remote Application with multiple computers multiple rooms

    I am planing a whole-house music system and have played around with the Remote application. Seems to work fine in my setup with a MacBook Pro. Have several AiportExpress that I can see through REMOTE but they are not linked to speakers.
    Here what I would like to do.
    1) Control each room separately, so each could have its own music playing or multiple rooms playing having the same song. I think currently one would need to build more than one loop of AirportExpress's linked to the same speakers. With two loops one could access two different libraries on two computers and so have two different songs playing in 2 zones.
    2) Control the loudness in each room. This could be a big problem. There is one master volume, but if one room is larger or has more speakers it could be much louder than the other rooms. So one would constantly play around with the volume when moving from room to room.
    3) Use more than one iPod Touch or iPhone in one set up, so that all people in the house can control the music. I only have one iPhone so I have not had a chance to check this one out. Is it possible to have more than one controlling iPhone or iPod Touch?
    Nice to haves
    1) An alarm function with the time and song selected and with zero volume slowly increasing to a set value over a set time.
    2) Cover flow on the iPhone or iPod Touch
    3) Remote launching of iTunes from the iPhone or iPod Touch
    Any suggestions or answers are welcome. Thanks for your help.

    There are no post activities available in ConfigMgr. Either use dependencies (so that the post activities application/DT has a dependency to the application itself - which is not the best way to solve it imho) or use a wrapper (cmd, ps1, vbs etc) that
    installs the application first and performs additional things afterwards.

  • IPod Remote application does not work with Ethernet

    I can control iTunes on my MacMini from the Remote application on my iPod Touch only if the Mini is connected to the router by WiFi, but not if it connected by Ethernet cable. Unfortunately, I need to connect the MacMini to the router by Ethernet (because of another problem), but this is preventing me using the Remote application.
    The wireless access point is an Airport Express connected to the router by Ethernet cable. The iPod Touch communicates with the Airport Express.
    The Remote application cannot find my iTunes music library. However it can connect to the MacMini using "ssh". When I select "Add Library" on the remote, the iPod does not show up in iTunes on the Mini. I have tried turning off the firewall in the MacMini but this does not help. However, if I connect the MacMini by WiFi instead of Ethernet cable, it works fine.
    My router has a firewall between the Internet and the LAN, but not between the LAN ports. I also cannot see any settings on the Airport Express that might block this connection.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I have an ipod touch with the Remote application installed. Reinstalled today after I experienced problems loading the songs via a playlist view or artist view. it appears to time out and the remote application closes. I am using Home Sharing. I can see the library, the lists, but when I try to load the list, the app waits a few seconds, then closes. I have an iPhone 4 and cannot duplicate the problem on that device and it works just fine. Any insights?

    This issue is related to weblogic transaction timeout.
    Can you increase the weblogic domain transaction timeout?
    By default it is 30 sec, increase to 600
    Refer Domain --&amp;gt; Configuration --&amp;gt; JTA to increase timeout.
