I installed Safari 3 beta and at first I loved it until a few things started to annoy me. First, when I maximize browser window, minimize it, and then restore it again, it automatically resizes to a smaller window. Also there is no other way to minimize the browser window other than clicking the minus sign on the upper right corner of browser window. I prefer to minimize by clicking the window title in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Those minor bugs forced me to uninstall as I could not take it anymore. I happily went back to using IE7 as my default browser. However, I would prefer to use Safari 3 for Windows if those bugs are fixed! Until those issues are fixed, IE7 r0xx0rs my b0xx0rs!1!!!11!1

i'll add that packing a folder with multiple tracks and then unpacking it will duplicate the tracks.
also weird redraws just on scrolling through the mixer (example the 'EQ' text goes off center.

I think it does work as described, but the description is not very complete. Capitalization does not change any of the characters that you type; what it does is allow some of the lower case characters to display as capitals. If you copy the result and paste it as plain text, you'll see that the lower case characters are still there. It doesn't actually say anywhere that it can make capitals display as lower case, and it can't.
The obvious way around this is to actually type what you want.
The more powerful way is to install WordService from Devon Technologies which adds the functionality of Pages' capitalization menu as well a lot of other ones. WordService actually changes the character to the one displayed, and it works in most of the applications on your Mac.

High pitched static on other end is a software bug that needs to be fixed immediately

Every once in a while, the callers on the other line start hearing nothing but a high pitched static from me. I have no idea when it happens or what causes it. I can hear the other person just fine but they cannot hear me at all. I find out when the other person keeps saying hello and eventually hangs up. Once it happens, it happens on every call after that.
The only thing that fixes it is restarting the phone which is extremely annoying. This is most definitely a software bug and has nothing to do with whether you have good signal or if you use a case or not.
I tested this with by calling my wife's phone when she was with me after the glitch happened.
1) I had no case on the phone.
2) I was getting a perfect signal (also perfect 4g)
3) Switching to loudspeaker did nothing.
4) Turning noise reduction on or off did nothing.
5) muting and unmuting did nothing (except when muted there was obviously no static, but it came back upon unmuting)
6) Turning wifi on or off did nothing
7) Turning bluetooth on or off did nothing
Answering an important call and hearing "hello, hello, hello and click" is the most annoying thing ever. Because then I have to restart my phone which takes quite a while and the other person is repeatedly calling me in the meantime.
This needs to be fixed immediately. After all, this device is a phone first. All those smart functions come second. If I can't make or receive calls properly this device has to go.

We have had others with the Droid Charge call/write in with the same issue. Replacing the phone didn't resolve which also leads me to believe it is a software glitch.
First, make sure you do have the most recent sofware version vy going to:
Settings>About Phone>System Updates>Check New You should currently have i510EE4
We have let Samsung know that there is an issue with some of the Droid Charge's having a high pitched noise.
At this time, they are looking into it in order to provide a resolution.

Most annoying bugs and one mighty strange one!

Ok so ive tried using logic 8 for time sensitive projects but ive switched back to 7.2 for now due to a pretty long list of bugs, some of which i outlined in another post. but the most annoying for me are the following.
- on closing a project with alt/apple and W, the app quits everytime !?
- strange graphic redraw problems on the mix when changing values
- mixer mode / view changes when it feels like it.
- some prefs not remembered like track header modes.
- mixer channels dont sync to order of those on the arrange page (busses etc)
- my mackie control universal does not sync on selecting a buss.
- windows dont remember their positions and same with save/load, export/import locations.
- AND heres a weird one. on exporting a 2 track master from logic, i then usually trim in peak pro 5 ... this works fine but once trimmed it wont save (in peak) or re open in anything. i ve tried repeating this in logic 7 and no problem so it must be something logic is doing in the export ?? ive checked all permissions on the file etc and their normal. i can open the file on my pc just not in peak as i usually do. very weird.
i am clean installing logic on a new macpro this week so ill report if these are solved,
anyone else experienced these?

TS5376 iTunes once again won't close. Past versions of iTunes had the most annoying behavior that when ever closed it would immediately reopen. Apple update just installed the latest version and the problem is back. Help.

Past versions of iTunes for Windows had the annoying behavior that it couldn't be closed. If I tried to exit or close the window iTunes would just open back up again. It had gone away, but apple just installed version 11.1.5.5 and it's back! The only way to exit is to open task manager and kill the process. Nothing else seems to work. Guess what Apple, I really don't want to have iTunes open all the time. I think the only answer is to stop using iTunes, since I don't have any Apple devices anyway, and go with a different music player on my PC.

Just in case, we'd better check on another old potential culprit (don't see it reported much lately, though) ... do you have any Logitech gaming software installed on the PC?

Itunes 8 upgrade problems. Is there a bug that needs to be fixed?

It downloaded the itunes 8 upgrade several days ago. It was working fine, for a few hours and I was enjoying the new icons, etc.
Then, all of a sudden, I could no longer open up that itunes window, no matter what I did. I tried disk utilities, verifying and repairing permissions, as an apple friend recommended, that didn't help. I then went and re-installed itunes 8, AGAIN, and nothing changed.
So now, in order to access any of my itunes library, music, etc. I have to go into find and put in itunes and then I can find all my stuff and I can access, but I'd like to get my itunes window back.
Please help with very explicit instructions. I am a non-techy and am amazed I even figured out how to do what I've done.

I had the same problem with my sister's iphone. Mine would show up but not her's.
Her phone was password protected , so I asked her to unlock her phone and I plugged it back again and it worked right away. Try it if it's password protected !

PlugIn Container NEEDS Fixing NOW. It's Useless!

I am NOT the only one fed up with this, but Mozilla still does NOTHING! *MY* newest problem with PIC.exe is that every time I run Firefox, I have TWO instances of PIC running in my Task Mgr! Can't they go back to about 2 years ago before all this happened and start over????

Sometimes when I put up multiple tabs that require plugins (like playing videos, flash files, etc.) an error message for plugin-container.exe pops up and all firefox windows/tabs closes. But I am still able to recover them, having to reload all contents.
How can I prevent this from happening? please reply, I hope a helpful person or mozilla staff sees this

I have the same problem. I've been having this problem since 3.6 update. Everytime I have multiple tabs my plugin container for firefox.exe sometimes crashes but i found out why. it sucks up so much of my memory and CPU. When my memory and CPU gets so high I have to use task manager to end process but when I do firefox runs much faster than before but still uses a little bit too much of my CPU and memory. But when I try to play videos, open new website (With ads and video clips) it happens again by using too much of my CPU and Memory. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-S460 with NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 seriess, 2GB RAM, 80GB, 1.73 Intel Centrino M and I have Windows XP Home. When I had XP Home.. the Plugin Container in firefox did the same stupid thing, then I upgraded to XP Pro and same thing again, now I am using Windows 7 Pro and only happens sometimes if i am using multiple tabs. I am so fed up with the plugin container.. Opera seems to be doing good with no crashes or slow process when i use multiple tabs but it is only slows once in a while though. But I am a loyal Firefox fan. I love Firefox but i can't stand this plugin.. its so annoying.. isn't there anyway to reduce it? If not then I guess I need to buy a new laptop and hope for the better.

Unfortunately I don't have a solution but I'm another one with this same problem so am posting this in the hope Mozilla notice and address this issue. I've got a relatively old laptop running XP pro but never had problems with older versions of firefox - which I much prefer to IE. Hopefully Mozilla are counjuring up a solution but I'm a bit disappointed they did not fully test 'container.exe' in the first place. Does anybody know if a solution is being worked on and if/when it will be released?

-There are so many posts (including this one) bumming about this problem with the only advice being DISABLE IT! I have windows7 64 intel7 4GB ram W/ 4 more external. If I have this much power+memory and this still happens-WTF? Why is the container so crappy the only solution is to disable it? I archived the message and say-FIX THIS FIREFOX or tell us how!

I've also noted a lot of bugs since 3.6. After the last Adobe Flash upgrade I've noticed a lot more problems, also. The frozen screen with the "not responding" thing is driving me nuts. This was a biggie after the upgrade to 3.6

Can I just add my dissatisfaction with plug-in container.exe. Off now to see how to disable it. I've been using Firefox for almost seven years now, but it's starting to feel as if it's time to move on. Plug-in Container seems to make it much more resource-hungry and often I have to close it, close it again in Task Manager and then open it again to get any speed back.

Your Spybot Search & Destroy didn't create a restore or backup file before making the changes? You can download a new copy as "madperson" suggested or try to locate the backup file using the information below. Your choice.
When you do a "Fix selected problems" after a "Check for problems" by default Spybot creates backups of the fixed problems to facilitate recovery. These backups (recovery files) for Spybot-S&D By default are stored in one of the following directories:
Windows NT, 2000 or XP:
''C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery''
The recovery files themselves are stored in password protected zipped folders within the Recovery directory.

Sidebar idiosyncrasy that needs fixing

When you click on a Finder Window which is inactive, not only does it become active, but if you click in the Sidebar section, which is usually the only part that is visible, you also select the folder that you click over. This does not happen with a single click elsewhere in a Finder Window, only in the Sidebar, and it is a big nuisance that violates the usual rule that the first click of an inactive window activates it, but does not make a selection. Repositioning the mouse and clicking again are regular time-wasting occurrences. Should this be regarded as a bug or a feature??!

For some background window clicks, like those that close or minimize windows, it would make no sense to activate the window first
Keeping in mind that the option to deliberately close the background window by holding down the ⌘-key would still be there, having a single-click bring a background window forward as the default behaviour, even for the "Close" box might not be a bad thing.
For example, suppose you have a web browser window open in the background, with multiple tabs open, and the window is positioned to the top left of the screen. In the foreground, suppose there is a "Preview.app" (or "iCal.app", or "Mail.app") window, with the "drawer" open on the left side. The foreground window is positioned to the top edge of the screen, with the edge of the drawer to the left of the screen.
Now, imagine the mouse pointer being near the top left edge of the screen so that the "traffic lights" of the background window are "lit up". If things were set up this way and you called ten different people separately, to your desk and told them to "close the front window", I wonder how many would end up closing the background browser window instead, and losing all of the tabs? Unlike "unsaved changes", you don't get a confirmation dialogue in most browsers.
Ok so this is a pretty contrived scenario, but I think something similar could happen if you had just come back from lunch, or gotten off the phone or were otherwise distracted. Under such circumstances, having the window come to the front without closing would ensure that you knew what was being closed. And of course, if your intention really was to close the background window, the ⌘-click option would be available. As you say, for the "minimize" or "zoom" buttons, it wouldn't matter, but the GUI designer would have to pick one or the other behaviour to keep things consistent. Or maybe the issue calls into question the original decision to add those two buttons to the top left corner, when the pre OS X Mac kept that corner reserved for the "Close" box so that there would be no negative consequences from missing the "minimize" button by a few pixels, and no question about the user's intentions when they reach for that corner...
It isn't something I feel that strongly about, but I'll throw it out there in the spirit of discussion.

10.6.4 is problematic! Need fix NOW!!!

I recently updated the latest update for the Mac OS and now my fast computer is sluggish to put it mildly. First, during start up it takes nearly 2 minutes. I kid you not. Then once it was up and running the mouse never showed up. I had to unplug and re-plug it multiple times and reboot before it came back. I also have 2 external HD's 1 for transport and 1 for storage and now when I try and update the firmware to those drives they can't be found even though one or both are hooked up and I can use them as normal. Also, when I put the machine to sleep it takes quite a while to actually shut down.
These issues were never happening before the latest OS update. Please send fix ASAP!! Anyone else having similar issues or there problems since the newest update?

Antonio gave the link for restoring from the Time Machine backup, but you didn't state which kind, if any, you had. If something made by Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!, their documentation describes how to restore.

Two annoying bugs and in PSE 7

(PSE7, Windows XP SP3)
THE MOST annoying bug (for me): From time to time, Album pane and Keyword Tags panes become blank. Nothing actually happens to the tags, but the only way to restore the panes, is to restart the program.
I still didn't manage to figure out precisely what triggers it, but I think it has something to do with "Fast User Switching" on XP...
Watched folders are not updated when new files are added with an external program. In my case, I use Canon Photo Professional to process RAW files and create JPGs and TIFFs at the same directory as the original RAW files are stored, which is part of the Catalog. Nothing happens and new files are not detected even if the folder is watched.
Any ideas?

Let me add to this list a number of issues that seem to be widespread with respect to the sync engine:
Sync engine does not recognize existing content on install of PSE7 if it's an upgrade from a previous version. Changed photos get sync'd, but you have to make a change to everything to get it all picked up by the engine.
Sync stalls regularly. No indication is given to the user that sync is no longer progressing (double green arrows remain). However, the sync process stops consuming CPU and stops communicating with API.PHOTOSHOP.COM (both verifyable using resource manager).
Sync is extreemly slow. The upload times are an order of magnitude longer than my available bandwidth would permit. This appears to be due to the excessive handshaking necessary for each individual upload (no bulk transfer implemented).
Not necessarily a bug, but the lack of status information about the sync progress is dismal.
Let's hope the PSE7 team is as receptive to user help in troubleshooting as the PS.COM team turned out to be...

Cairo-Compmgr Annoying Bug

I recently(today) installed cairo-compmgr to enhance my openbox experience. Some minor errors and such occurred(mainly graphical anomalies) however there is a rather annoying bug that occurs when I affect the desktop(where the background appears). For example I would close thunar with it as my only open window, after it closes there is a square in the middle of my screen that shows the contents of the now closed window. When I right click the image disappears. Also if i hover my mouse over a window in my panel(tint2) the little box displaying information is stuck on the screen, until I affect it in come way. It's not a major issue but I figure that if I'm going to use a program to enhance my graphics its redundant to have graphical issues. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have this same problem with Openbox + cairo-compmgr-git and when I close Firefox. I have Intel integrated graphics with an empty xorg.conf

You need to contact "epost." The issue is not an Apple issue....the epost software needs, I assume, to be updated.

I even tried taking off the wifi in hopes that it could just connect to the 3g but nothing. Not sure if anyone else is experiencieng this issue or knows what I can do. I think that it may be an app problem that needs fixed, but not sure. Help!

Maybe its a Viber problem. As that is not an Apple product, why don't you try and contact the developer?
