Most Disappointed!!!

I have a newly purchased ipod nano which was purchased with the idea that it was easy to work and to use for audiobooks.  During the last 5 hours I have printed and read a good bit of the 85 page manual.  I think I have registered the ipod though difficult tell.  I have purchased an audiobook "Fallen" which I know you have charged me for but I am most certain it did not download and all checks I have tried show this.  Each time I have tried to fill out forms your requests have been most difficult to make - such as trying to fill in the "United States" etc. -seems as if something is wrong with your website.  I am amazed that there is no telephone number or "chat" to help new customers.  Oh, and I also cannot tell if the battery is charging  from the icon in the upper right corner.  This has so far not been a pleasant experience.   ----Joankay Kent

Odd.  Most of the time people are able to plug it in and figure it out.
Your audiobook is in itunes on your computer.  You went to the audiobooks tab and selected to sync audiobooks?  You selected the books you wanted? You synced?

    Thank you for your service.
I was most disappointed to find, however, that the letters I really wanted (Adobe Garamond Alternate Caps) is not in this collection and indeed, one now has to use another fancy designing program to construct those letters. I can’t afford to buy Photoshop just to construct two special capital letters. I’ve used the B and M in my logo for Balquhidder Music for years - but from jpgs - and I was hoping to have more flexibility in the future. I spent $169 to make sure I am in compliance. But I didn’t get anything of use to me.
I can’t understand why those Alternate Caps are not part of this - or any other package. I thought Adobe was capable of amazing things.
I assume I am whistling in the dark. So have a nice day.

Actually, when Adobe moved from Type 1 fonts to OpenType CFF fonts, all the so-called “expert typefaces” were consolidated into the base fonts. In other words Adobe Garamond Pro Regular not only has the Western Latin characters of the original Type 1 version of Adobe Garamond, but also has alternate Latin capitals (with titling, titling floating accents, and stylistic alternates), alternate Latin lowercase (swash and superiors), Latin small capitals (alphabetic and floating accents), ligatures, multiple numeric forms (including lining tabular, lining proportional, oldstyle tabular, oldstyle proportional, superscripts, scientific inferior, numerator, denominator forms, fractions, mathematical operators, etc.) plus a raft of other special symbols.
OpenType fonts are Unicode-based and allow for more than the 256 characters in Type 1 fonts which required multiple typefaces all with mappings to a standard keyboard to accommodate all these glyphs.
Thus, hopefully your disappointment will turn to joy.
To assist you in understanding OpenType fonts and to show you what is in the current Adobe Garamond fonts, I have attached a few PDF files for your perusal.
Let us know if you have any questions.

    Dear iTunes
Why wasn't I able to download the twelve days of Christmas gifts? as I downloaded the 12 days of Christmas app or is it now just used as a ploy to sell your iPhone and iPod etc
    most disappointed customer

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Why weren't you able to download each day's gift ? Whilst the 12 Days app required iOS 7 to be able to install it on a device, each day's gift was available to download direct in the iTunes or App Store apps, or via iTunes on your computer.

  • Bb10 is the most disappointing phone ever

I am a hard core BlackBerry believer only to be totally let down by bb10. The navigation is terrible, response time to turning the phone is brutal, apps are substandard! As a business user I have been waiting for this phone only to find out it is time to switch brands. As a Canadian this is so disappointing...time to support apple or samsung...This realization sucks big time!

Keyboard is the best on the market-dont get me wrong, I'll still be getting the Q10 though

I have to agree with the OP.  The phone DOES have disappointments as mentioned in a few posts including my own.  Going back and forth to the HUB is a pain (a message icon could improve that).   Staying on the last page you visited (last email message or last text) and not just defaulting to the home screen is problematic.  You have to swipe and swipe again to get where you want or need to be.
The alarm clock not working when the phone is off is a pain too.  WTF is that about?  You have to leave the phone on, reset the sounds to silent so you're not woken up by beeps whenever an email comes in and even the bedside mode doesn't shut down the sounds.  I'd think that if I put the phone in bedside the sounds would automatically go to PHONE ONLY mode.
Have double notifications in  Facebook and on the HUB is problematic.  Why?  Simple, why?  One message in the app is enough.  Why do I have to go to the HUB for that?  There's absolutely no reason for this.
No banking apps.  I can't scan a check???  Every phone on the planet has a banking app.  Get with the program aready!  Blackberry developers worked with Facebook and Twitter but forgot Bank of America, Wells Fargo etc etc.  I could care less about social apps.
Speaking of apps.  Why weren't the old standards included?  Password Keeper and the QR scanner were missing and I had to go searching for them and learn how to get my passwords back onto this new device.
My contacts are all doubled and tripled because of the apps.  I have one person in four times!!  On my Torch they were there once.  That's all I need.  I could care less about their Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin profiles being on my phone.
The device itself works.  It makes and receives calls.  It gets my emails for me but that's what BB did back when they first came out in 1999.  Nothing really improved in terms of going against the competition and coming out late in the game played against them IMHO.
So the OP has a point.

  • Homehub 3 disappointed

i read everywhere that the HH3 is the best available and is all bells and whistles but mine certainly is not.
my HH2 was far more powerful !! - i am most disappointed.
I have spent hours of my time speaking to half of BTs call centre and changed channels, security settings, moved the HH around the house , they even got me to take the BT telephone socket to bits and plug into a test socket. - but all this has done has waist my time and make me VERY FRUSTRATED with BT.
can I go back to my HH2?
or do you think my HH3 is faulty?
I have completly given up contacting BT and this is my last gasp attempt as sorting this problem.

By all means use your HH2.
Where did you hear that the HH3 was so good, you havn`t been watching the adverts have you?
If you want to keep trying with the HH3, there are is some help here Wireless Help

  • A huge disappointment of ics upadte for LWW is the camera picture quality!!

    HELLO SONY TEAM,
After having updated my lww with ICS 10 days ago, the most disappointment that i could find is the quality of the pics taken by the rear camera. Its a big loss for me updating my GB to ICS. The probelm with GB was to be the pics taken using the rear camera had a small size, but it had a good overall clarity. Whereas in ICS the size of the pics taken using the rear camera has increased, but the loss comes with the picture quality which if u compare with a 2mp camera would give a better result then this.
I have proof for it do compare both the pics.(both the pics are untouched)
Above picture taken with GB runing in the phone.....(size- 1.01mb)
Above picture taken with ICS runing in the phone.....(size- 1.63mb)
So, i would like to know from the SONY TEAM, that would u guys help us sorting out the image quality issue ???
    Thank You..

saptarshi.dey, please post the same scene like no 1 photo but on ICS so we can do a better evaluation .
i cant do comparison because the two photos are of totally different scene

  • CS5 Disappointment

I been running the demo version of CS5 design Premium for about a week now. I am usually pretty excited about new versions of Adobe products. I been using Photoshop since version 1.0. I must say that this is the most disappointing upgrade I have ever seen. I have found very few new features or tools that really seem to work. Also feel that it is very slow compared to CS4. I think I may be waiting awhile before spending my money on this one...

You registered just for that? I'm sorry you feel that way, but I think there are compelling features in all of the products.
But this is why Adobe provides demos and if you work doesn't require any of the new bells and whistles then I'd say you're acting prudently in not upgrading.

  • Adobe Functional Content and the Creative Cloud

    Hello All
To any Adobe Employee who may read this, can you please get someone at Adobe to take control of this issue and see that the library, templates and all other functional content gets packaged correctly and enabled as a download and "sub-install" for the parent product inside the Adobe Application Manager.
I think as subscribing users we should get better service and direction from Adobe in regards to this functional content. As I type this I have more than 10 tabs open, each one leading to a thread that has something to do with how to install and fix a problem with the Functional Content for After Effects, Premiere Pro and Encore.
See if you can in less than 30 minutes figure out exactly what to do to activate this content by reading these threads:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4447237#4447237

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4417092#4417092
I have been very reluctant to do anything because I am reading a lot of conflicting and incomplete information. This link in particular, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/library-functional-content-missing.html, is really unhelpful because there are 3 methods to do something but reading it I am not sure if each method does the same thing or if each does one part of the 3 sets of missing Functional Content. Additionally "solution" 3 presents a place to put the content but then leaves out the path we are to do it to.
Most disappointing is the fact that the first "solution" did not get me the menu buttons I am looking for in Encore and I don't know if I screwed up or if the install was incomplete for some reason.
Do I now need to install one of the other "solutions"? Those of you in the community that are about to hit reply, please don't. Do not answer that question.
    Here is why...
Adobe is responsible for delivering us customers a product. It is Adobe's responsibility to fix the mess that a number of paying customers are having regarding this Functional Content.
    TO ADOBE:
Here is what I and I think a lot of other subscribers want you to do:
You already have a Solution in place. One that doesn't require a lot of user intervention and doesn't require anyone to pick a "solution" and screw it up, search for more help and spend hours of their time fixing a mess.
Adobe Application Manager. Create the proper installation packages. Put them on the servers, tell the AAM how to clean up the mess any users who have tried these "solutions" have made. Then have it install the proper packages as a "Sub-Installation" for each of the parent software that it is for.
This solution will not only make things better for us end users, but you will also make the manageability of the Functional Content easier for your teams as well. And if your teams wanted to add additional Functional Content to any program that is part of the creative cloud or that the Adobe Application Manager manages, then it would be a simple matter of creating an installation package and adding it to the AAM's list of installable programs.
You just did this exact thing with Lightroom 4.1! Why can you not do this for the Functional Content?!?
Back to the Community Members that want to answer my post. Don't. Instead if you agree with me or even if you don't, sign off on this thread or indicate your virtual thumbs down. Either way I don't want an answer, I want an action from Adobe, the only ones who can fix the mess.
I really believe that the Application Manager is the most elegant solution. If any of you have ever used Steam, you know what a great feeling it is when you can download a game demo, try it, buy it and just have everything take care of itself. I don't even have to worry about updates; Steam takes care of my games. And the thing that makes it really valuable? I DON'T PAY $50 A MONTH TO USE STEAM AND HAVE IT JUST WORK, IT IS FREE!
All I want at this point is Functional Content that I don't have to read a 50+ page manual to install. I know that is an exaggeration, but honestly if it is 1 badly written set of instructions or 50 what does it matter? I don't pay Adobe so I can read up on how to install their software; I just want to use it.
I guess I should also point out that this is now the second large hold up to my project that I started subscribing for. The first was a problem that I again had to figure out the solution to by working around it, when again Adobe seems to be unable to correct the problem, here, here, here and here.
And now here I am again at a slight stand still because I can't use my DVD authoring software to create a button on a Wedding DVD menu.
Okay, you can go ahead and reply... but I would still prefer no answers, just /agree or /disagree.

Did you even read the post?

For now though please reference Library, title templates, template projects missing: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore CS5 - CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/library-functional-content-mi ssing.html for information on how to obtain the additional content.
Have you read the page in your link?
Can you correctly install from the instructions on that page?
    And I quote:
Additional Solution: Install the Resource Central library content
    Download the extra library content
Choose your language to begin the download:
English French German Japanese Italian Spanish Korean
Extract the Library content to the Library folder
Extract the zip file that you just downloaded. This will create a .7z file, eg. en-US.7z.
Extract the .7z file to any convenient location, eg. Desktop. This will create a folder based on the language you selected.
Copy the contents of the language folder (eg. en-US) to the following location:
    Keywords: cpsid_85388
Where? Copy the contents to where? I don't see a path written there... is it a secret? Do I have to highlight the hidden text? Nooo... that didn't work...
Honestly I must appologize for my brashness and sarcastic attitude. I find it questionable to expect the paid subscribing creative but not technically inclined customers to do the work of fixing this problem when Adobe has the means and the tools to fix it for us.

Ok. Fair enough, I will admit that last night in my anger and frustration I was being a little childish.
But as a Community Professional don't you believe that you would be better served by Adobe if they were to make one easy simple Adobe Application Manager download for the content that should have been published right at the launch of the new version? Wouldn't your time be better spent actually working on your projects rather than fixing Adobe's mess and responding to people in 10 different forums trying to help them?
All of this also makes me wonder how Adobe prioitizes the "bugs" that people are dealing with. Wouldn't it be quick to put a someone or a couple of people on the problem of gathering the functional content and getting them to package it and ready it for publishing through the AAM? The process of adding it to the list of installs might be more complicated but a package that knows where to put the content? I would think that something like this could be give a get it done now priority as it would aleviate a lot of the forum posts and something like the missing export choices in Media Encoder or Premiere Multicamera Issues would take more time due to investigation and so you put them on a priority based on the number of users affected.
It just seems to me that a month after launching a new version is an awfull long time for the publishing of an update to add functional content that was in all the previous versions.
I guess I will stop "ranting" now. Thanks for responding Jeff AW, at least I have official word that there will be some sort of update on this issue.

  • Horrible Experience with new 17" MBP

I have had 3 Apple laptops in the past 3 years. My most recent purchase has been the most expensive, and most disappointing. Its a mid 09 17".
All day, everyday, this computer beach balls. From the simplest task of quick viewing a folder, creating a bookmark in safari, to playing a song in iTunes. It becomes increasingly disturbing when using a program such as Final Cut Pro or Motion. Ruins the experience.
So I lose intrest in trying to do things such as making videos, so I'll just watch them on the internet. Usually just browsing the net will only score me a beach ball about once an hour.
NOPE. My airport starts dropping the connection. It just shows searching in the airport menu. I have to click on my network and type in the password. My laptop drops it's connection around 5-6 times throughout a day.
I paid $2500 for a better user experience. I almost achieved more when I had my old Blackbook because it wouldn't freeze up for 30-50 seconds 20 times a day.
I have restored, reinstalled, cleaned cache, used snow leopard specific programs, reset this and that. Where do I go from here? I don't want to drive an hour and half to my closest Apple store just for them to tell me its a software issue, when this would happen on Leopard also. I dont want to drive an hour and half to a store for them to take it from me for 6-14 days. I need my computer everyday.
    What do I do?

    Hi All,
I am also having this problem on a brand new MacBook Pro (Which was given to me as an exchange after an absolutely disastrous relationship with my previous MBP!)
From day one I have been having abnormal amounts of beach ball action, sometimes so bad that it actually makes doing anything on here impossible. I took it into my local Apple store and was told that everything seemed to be fine.
A few frustrating days later I called the Apple helpline and was taken through various procedures and told to phone back if this didn't fix the problem. It didn't fix the problem!!
I then reinstalled my OSX software and for the last few months this solved the problem. One of the reasons I was in the forums was that I now cannot open anything by double clicking... Do anyone have any ideas how to fix this?!
So I reinstalled again yesterday, hoping this would fix the file problem but aside from not fixing that, the spinning beach ball of doom is now back in full force!
Don't get me wrong, I love my MBP but for something so expensive, I would really like it to be in working order and not have to send it away for weeks one end!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated and to everyone with the same problems, my deepest sympathy lol!

  • How can I get anyone in Customer Services to respo...

Copy of letter to Customer Services sent in July 2012 and again via email a month later:
    Dear Mr Spencer
    Your ref: *************
Further to your letter regarding my complaint about the Broadband package taken out from my mother’s address, I am writing to respond as follows:
The original conversation with a member of BT staff about the set up of a Broadband package at my mother’s property  took place in August 2011 – sometime around 17.08.11.
It was during this exchange that the discussion took place about transferring the said Broadband package from my mother’s phone line to my flat (address above) when I returned to that address in March 2012.
Because I knew at that time that we would only require the Broadband services at my mother's address during my residence there, I made it clear that I would require the service to be transferred when I returned to my own home address.
My mother is 84 years old – does not know how to use the internet and since I moved out of her home in March, has not had a PC/laptop or any Internet-receiving equipment in her home.  We unplugged the Home Hub on the day I left and it has remained in the box ever since.  She does not require the internet now, and never will.
My mother and I have both been long-standing customers of BT with unblemished credit records with your company.  I am most disappointed that this situation has now escalated and as you can imagine, my mother is most distressed.
I cannot accept the results of your findings based on the recordings of only one telephone conversation with your organisation about the original set up of the Broadband account.
It is the unavoidable fact that I have had many telephone conversations across the last 10 months about both my account  and my mother’s.  Some of the calls with your Customer Services staff will not have been of the standard I would have thought your organisation will expect.

    Hi JulieG,
Welcome to the forum.  I am sorry to read of the problems you and your mom have had with BT.  I would like the chance to sort this out for you.  I will need account details so that I can look into this properly.
Please follow John46's advise and drop me an email via the 'Contact Us' link in my profile. (click on my name and you will find the link under the "about me" section). Include the BT account details in question and the link to this thread.  Once I have these details I will investigate and am sure I can help.

  • I need more INPUT (not MENU) languages in my E90!

Though E90 Communicator is awesome in majority of functions, usability and comparatively perfect in production quality, it lacks some features that I as business-user definitely need.
The most disappointing issue for me is the language issue. While the "normal" phones have 6 to 8 languages pro firmware/product code, the E90 has only 3!!! (Maybe 4 in APAC region but i do not care.)
I'll try to explain shortly. As a businessman who lives in Germany and is a native Russian-speaker, I have a LOT of partners/clients/friends who do prefer to have a communication profile with me in Russian. I have almost the same amount of people with whom I need to communicate in German or French. The tragic truth is that I cannot approach this with the actual firmware situation on E90.
If I would buy my Nokia E90 in Russia, I would get the predefined languages of English, Russian and Ukrainian. That is nice, but in this case I cannot write in German as it should be written, saying with Ö, Ä, Ü, ß and so on. I also could not use some of the French special characters. If I would use E90 only as a SMS machine, it might be OK. But I use it more likely as a travel PC replacement the device pretend to be, so I use e-mail and document editing, where the lack of those characters are intolerable.
Besides all, I live in Germany and am a client of German service provider, so why should I probably buy the device outside of Germany? So think I and so I doing, saying I renewed my service contract and bought the E90.
In German firmware I got another three (!!!) languages: German, English and Turkish. Wonderful. I may speak out about the pure discrimination from the Nokia side: in Germany we have the same amount of Russian speakers as Turkish fellow ones, both about 8,000,000 persons each. ;-) So why Turkish and not Russian, Italian or French? Every of those "communities" has equal rights, am I right?! Hei, Nokia! Do you hear my voice?!
Is it really so hard to understand, that an ULTIMATE BUSINESS SOLUTION as E90 definitely would be preferred by the people, who really use it - really intensive - as a communication device?! Is it really hard to understand, that thousands of them would get e-mails and documents while on the road that definitely need to be urgent answered some other language than 3 preinstalled?! Should I change the firmware of my phone every time I need to answer e-mail in French or edit the financial contract for my Russian partner?!
Ridiculous and disappointing - what else should I say?! Especially because I know, that the situation as easy to fix from the Nokia side as a single mouse click.
I am sure there are people reading and writing to this Forum who needs for example Chinese Mandarin and German, or Hindi and Farsi, or Arabic and Spanish simultaniously. There is no way to understand why it is impossible to choose the INPUT languages - I do NOT speak about the MENU languages and never pretend to.
So, because this Forum is Nokia's piece of land and Nokia has kindly allowed us to cry out here what I do really appreciate, I want definitely get the answer to following questions:
    1) Is it possible to add some INPUT (once again - NOT menu, just INPUT) languages to E90 firmware?
    2) If yes, when?
    3) If not, what is the reason? The reason - please, no "technical excuses", because I am not that stupid, OK? ;-)
We are living in such a damn globalized world, aren't we? So let's be really globalized and let's help us ourselves to get out the most from this.
    Thanks to all for listening.

Since Windows 98 is absolutely not a problem to add ANY input language in ANY localized version of the OS. I do know that Symbian OS has at least the same flexibility options.
Once again: I do not pretend to have any other MENU language - I simply do not need it. But the possibility to choose more INPUT language is simply and quickly to add, that is what I am asking for.
Maybe your statistic research is right, I do not want to argue with you. More than that, this is exactly I expected as an excuse option: "Marginal request". But no, it is not. The device would probably have higher customer interest when the free input would be represented.
Your advice to use laptop instead of E90 is highly appreciated, but it is not unique enough to be accepted "as is". ;-) The idea of E90 as well as previous communicators was to give the customer an option to leave her/his laptop at home and make a 1 or 2 day business trip as lite as possible in every meaning of the word "lite". I have 2 laptops already, 1 Panasonic for traveling and IBM Z61p Workstation as a desktop replacement. I should say that Panasonic, while being one of the best travel-oriented devices on the market, with its almost 2 Kilo travel weight and about 1 minute power-up/power-down time is completely insufficient as a communicator replacement. In addition to it you need a businesscard-scanner and a digicam, you are constantly out of power and so on. It is or will be the same story with UMPC. The only option until now was HTC/Qtek 9000, the most powerful and well-equipped device on the market. But it is completely useless as a phone and its camera is a disaster, so I switched to E90 because of its awesome usability as a phone, a digicam and as a communicator simultaneously just because I HATE to carry on 12 hours a day here and there a 5 Kilo bag with laptop, phone, camera, cables, batteries and other damned stuff around. I am just SICK and TIRED of this and I dreamed about the device that can make free from all that - for YEARS!!!
I remember my conversation with Nokia people at its CeBIT Stand in late 1990-es - the concept was already here, but the materialization of my dreams took Nokia R&D almost a decade. And now, when it is already in my hands, it lacks such a damn little thing to be as perfect as possible! ;-)
I am not that crazy - "perfect" does not mean really perfect. Of course there are and there would be minor and major bugs with later fixes and improvements. Because of the possibility of fixes and improvements I insist on one of the most critical for me. I understand as well, that it needs neither additional research nor hardware changes. All you need to to do is a little software module to be added and/or replaced. The Occam Razor Rule is still in my mind. ;-)

  • How do I share files via cloud with my teammates?

I believe that the Creative Cloud allows team members to share resources. I thought this meant we'd have a shared space in the cloud where we could see each others folders and files.
Any advice on finding this feature is appreciated!
    Spinbutton

    Hi Ken,
Is there any word on a timeframe for shared storage?
Our agency just switched to CC for Teams and are most disappointed to find that the biggest justification for us switching is actually not possible. We can't have a team "bucket" that can be shared across the team within the Cloud.
We'll have to continue to use Dropbox or Google Drive for the simple reason that our team is not in the same physical location and our workflow requires shared storage that all members of the team can access.
More than anything, I'm disappointed that a significant premium is being charged for storage that is ineffective for a team environment. We're now paying for 100Gb of storage that we simply will not be using (until shared storage is enabled.)
Administrator access to shared buckets is also a requirement for us, for the same reason outlined by rrhandy below. Right now, the teams storage is no different to individual storage, except for the amount of space.

  • Lumia 900 suggestions from an owner, if Nokia want...

I got my Lumia 900 this weekend and have been using it non-stop for a day. My previous phone is an iPhone 3GS, a nearly three year old phone that the Lumia should beat hands down; the Lumia barely beats a 3 year old 3GS.
    THE GOOD
Here are the ways in which the 900 beats my old iPhone:
    1. It's faster, touch is more responsive.
    2. amazing screen.
    3. Better camera
    4. Better OS (faster, more fluid, simpler and easier, integrated social (huge +), Outlook/mail is far better than the iOS client for formatting, speed, function, etc.)
    THE BAD.
For some basic every day stuff, the 900 falls short on real-world scenarios, where Apple paid relentless attention to the nuances and details of how we use phones every day. I'm hoping a firmware update can solve these easy issues.
    1. Ringtones & Sounds:
Lowest volume level is way too loud for real world scenarios. Prepare to be startled in bed or in a meeting. The iPhone's volume range is far wider and more useful.
Level 01/30 is comically loud (Try "silk" at 01/30), and shows a lack of real-world consideration by Nokia and Microsoft. I did some casual testing: the 900's level 01/30 is about the same as the iPhone's 5/10, and yet the iPhone's 10/10 is about 25/30 on the Lumia 900.
    2. Screen Brightness:
The lowest level is way too bright and doesn't consider bedroom or dark scenarios where your eyes have adjusted to the dark. (even "Auto" brightness is far too bright in the dark)
If you're in bed and don't want to upset your partner, or simply want to read in the dark, the 900's "Automatic" and "Low" settings are far too bright. The iPhone's darkest setting can go as low as about 20% of the level the 900's lowest "Auto" setting. (the 900's "Low" setting should be the level at which the screen goes dark after a few seconds of inactivity)
    a. Silence your ring/vibrate by turning your phone face down.
    b. Raise your ring volume if the phone senses it's in your pocket or hand bag.
    4. I don't want to Hold Different.
The sharp corners on the bottom of the phone are annoying. After holding the phone while talking, the corner of the 900 gouges; there's an actual sharp impresson in my palm. It gets distracting while talking. This is a case where design asthetics won out over function. Nokia should have rounded the edges a bit on the bottom corners.
I realize that some of these issues are constrained by WP7, but some aren't. For instance, my old HTC Titan had a much lower and reasonable "Low" screen brightness setting (but its lowest ring volume was just as loud).
Nokia has made a good phone. But not a great phone. And you have to exceed your competition to beat it.

I have a Nokia Lumia 820 and the screen is way too bright on low !!
So bloody indiscreet, like carrying around a car headlight.
There are many other things I  could complain about, there is a fair bit of "double handling" the phone subjects you to. You start Nokia Drive Navigation which thankfully now starts from maps, then it has to ask you if you're sure?! Then when you switch it off it asks you again if you're sure.. It's so annoying you run the risk of putting the car into a pole. Of course I'm bloody sure..
I had to use an external ap Akruto to sync the thing offline to avoid the cloud.. why must they force people into the damn cloud that we have to use almost hacks to get around it?
Most disappointing of the lot is.. Microsoft owns Skype.. and Nokia and Microsoft are merged.. you you'd think Skype on a Lumia would work well.. Unfortutely it is still in Beta and has been like that for ages, full of annoying bugs. Great video calls, very impressed with continuity, screen quality, sound but the thing just has very bad interfacing with whether the application is on or off. People ring you and it looks like you ignored them.. it's messing with my relationships.
I moved up from Symbian and do regret it that many simple aps have to be downloaded, I wish they'd cared for us more and just put them on when it was bought..

  • How Do I determine which model ipad I need?

I initially thought buying a baic 16GB Ipad with the 9.7" screen would be simple and inexpensive. But, the more I have looked, the more confused I am. I am so technically challenged that I do not understand the "specs", let alone how to use them. I have a basic nebook that I only use for emails, chatting, shopping and research. And that is because I do not know how to use all the features available. And I love my Kindle 3G Wi-Fi e-reader but it is not color and has the external  typing key pad, which has been ideal for me .  I do not even know how to text on my cellphone so I had the service removed since I did not use it. And I only use the Kindle for reading but was glad got the 3G Model but their is no additional monthly usage fee.
But, now that I have been looking at the Apple ipads, I do not know if their  3/4G capabiliy service is worth the extra cost, as well as the high monthly serive fees? I am hoping someone can better explain why it cost so much more and just what the benefits will mean to me? Also, there any many benefits and added features but I do not believe I will ever learn t use many of them. And could someone please explain the advantage of "Bluetooth" and just what it means? And what other items or features will cost extra per month to use? Also, are none of the printer compatable? Is there no accessory to allow you to use a wireless printers? This was one of the most disappointing thing I have learned about the tablets. Aso, how is the quality of sound system?  Mine on the netbook is very poor and even with the volume on high, it is difficult to get good clear speach. So, I never watch moveis on my computer. And I am afraid it may be the same problem with the iPads? But, maybe with an external speaker or earbuds, it could enhance the sound? If so, at least I could listen to music.
In the beginning I was not concenred which model but now after reading more about the latest Apple, I feel the new easy to read screen is something I need. So, I hope someone can help me select the right model without my buying much more than I will ever need or use. I look foward any assistance you great tech savvy users can provide. I believe it always helps to be an informed buyer. So, trying to do my homework to prevent buyers remorse.
If it is permissable, you may email me with your information and suggestions on just what features I need to look for.

    Varjak paw:
I don't think you can purchase the 3/4+ wireless service unless you pay the extra for one that has the capabilities. So, if we are not certain we will need it, it is a tough decision. It it has the capablities, you are not required to purchase a monthly contract. You can just use as needed.
I do not know why this has become such a major decision for me but the more I hear, the more confused I am. The problem is it would be nice to have the special wireles service available if needed but I think it may be more beneficial to me to pay the extra 100.00 and get the 32 GB instead of the 16? But, my granddaughter says I will not need that much.
My initial plan was simply to purchse the 16GB wif-fi and keep it simple. But, after learning the advantages of the Newst model and the improved screen, I thought I should get it since I have vision problems. Another problem is these things are outdated before we can decide which one to get. And some have suggested it will be more diffucult to get parts and have them repaired with an older model. Howeverm from what I have seen with these new electronic items, they are dispoable. Usually, if something does go wrong, it cost more to repair than to replace them.
I am just experienceing this with my Kindle 3G/Wi-Fi. It is only a couple of months out of warranty but it is now freezing up. Also, it is loosing my place, and skipping pages and even paragraphs. It was working perfectly until about a week ago and of course, no one can help. You have to return it for them to check it and let you know what the problem could be and If it can be repaired. This is very disapointing to me since I was just planning to buy the Ipad. And now, I may have to replace the Kindle, which I wanted to keep for just reading. I have so many books on it and they are all in order and organized. So, this has put damper on what to do about the Ipad. If I were sure I would like to read on it as well as I do the Kindle, I would just the the Ipad and not get another Kindle. But, I will need to see what the problem is first. I really enjoy the Kindle and wanted to keep it just for my books. It is so fast and convenient to use. At least for me since I like the typing pad on the outside rather then the touch pad. But, I suppose I will learn how to use the new one? I am just so illierate when it comes to using any electronics. I cannot use a remote control,.:) I only use my computer for email, chatting and surfing since I do not know how to use many of the functions and applications that are available on it. I do not even have text on my cell phone. I have kept my electronic to a minumim. But, I thought I might enjoy the Appple Ipad and could learn to use it online so I would not have to have the computer on all the time?  But, I cannot beleive how expensive it is compared to a netbook or laptop when they will do much more than the Tablet. I suppose the Ipad is a luxury for those who can afford all the lasted new technical items available.
I did try a Pandigital Tablet before I bought the Kindle and did not like it at all. So, I returned it and got the Kindle and was so pleased that I could use it so easily. And I did not need the color screen, I just hope the Apple Tablet will be easier to use than the Pandigital or I am afraid, I will be to hard for me to learn to use it and be able to  take full advantage of of getting around on the internet, I had a problem with the ohter touch screen scrolling back up before I had finished typing in all the information I needed. And I had to download from Barnes and Nobels and there selection was not nearly as good as the Kindle and they were much higher.
So if anyone is patent enough to read all this and can understand what I need and could provide your  expert advice, suggestion and opinions, I would love to hear from you and any or all the issue in which I need help.
    Thanks - Sunny in SC
