Mouse Wheel Issues

Anyone else having problems scrolling windows in the Adobe products?  I can only get it to work in Bridge, the mouse wheel doesn't scroll any windows in the rest of the suite.
I'm now running Windows 7 RC with the newest IntelliPoint driver for such.  A producer friend has very nice scroll behavior on his XP system.  So I'm wondering what other folks are experiencing

One reply from the hinterlands:
Not yet. Maybe about SP1. When I give "blood" I'll do it for some drive at my wife's hospitals...
I'll let the youngsters, with time on their hands, report back. When the successes greatly outweight the calls for help, I'll order it up.
Now, you'd reported pretty good success with it, so maybe it is getting ready for release. What's the target date, Oct. '09?
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Cover flow Scrollbar and mouse wheel issue?

When I scroll my podcasts in cover flow view using the mouse wheel it skips some of the podcast album art.
What I mean is when moving the scrollbar left or right with the mouse wheel the scrollbar skips like half way instead of being able to scroll every single album art one after the other.
Is this normal and if so why is it designed this way?

  • Mouse wheel event coordinates issue in LV2013

I realized some unexpected behavior when using the mouse wheel event of an XYGraph:
The event contains the mouse coordinates which should be relative to the origin of the pane according to the LabVIEW help (see Mouse Wheel (Control Event)). In my case these coordinates are shifted. At the same time, the coordinates returned by the Mouse Move and Mouse Down events are correct. I think the Mouse Move, Mouse Down and Mouse Wheel Event coords should all be the same, i.e. relative to the owning pane's origin? The graph is in a window divided by splitters. I am using LabVIEW 2013 Professional Development System.

    Hi maxicon,
I tried to reproduce your described behavior - It works as expected (see the attached VI).
Please try to reproduce the issue again with the attached VI.
    1. Move the mouse and see coords changing.
    2. Operate the mouse wheel and see the coords are the same.
P.S. Zero-coordinates are marked in the frontpanel:
    Kind regards,
    Heinz

  • Issue with Adobe Muse parallax jitters with mouse wheel scrolling vertically.

    Hi all,
I'm learning Adobe Muse for the first time to put together a wedding website (http://mattandsangeeta.businesscatalyst.com/index.html), so bear with me as I'm a novice at the software - though I do have the most up version, Adobe Muse CC 2014.
So far, it's been an excellent platform, and for the most part the site functions incredibly well. However, one key flaw I've noticed in it is the parallax scrolling speed when using a mouse.
The parallax portion of the site jitters badly, and while we've found a few improvements for the issue (the best was making sure there was nothing that had scrolling set to "0"), I'm still at a loss for how to get smooth scrolling transition speeds. Every forum Adobe has seems to be showcasing the features, and not troubleshooting this particular issue. A lot of posts are similar, but none seem to be resolved. I've noticed that other parallax pages are smoother with the mouse wheel scrolling down, so I'm hoping it's just an issue with Muse that has a setting or snippet of code that can remedy the issue.
What makes me realize it's the mouse wheel scrolling, and not the site itself, is because whenever I access the site on my surface pro tablet, the parallax runs buttery smooth with touch control or even trackpad control. Same when you click the middle scroll button and pan down. Without any mouse wheel scrolling, it looks great! But with a mouse wheel, it hiccups constantly and ruins the effect.
So, is there any way to smooth out the steps that the mouse wheel scrolling seems to be causing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Thanks for the link, however that specific thread was one of the ones I referenced in my original post.
In the beginning of the thread, it's clear that coding can fix the issue, though it's not recommended. More telling is that the response you referenced indicates that the issue is claimed to have been either fixed or mitigated In updated releases of Muse.
As you pointed out earlier, however, Firefox displays the parallax a little better than Chrome, and much better than Internet Explorer. I'm assuming that Adobe Muse Creative Cloud 2014 release attempted to this issue.
So my question kind of remains: am I missing a setting that would make the scrolling more smooth, or is it simply just a limitation of the browser / software / parallax combination?
    Thanks again for the responses.

  • ITunes 10.5 Library Scrolling Issue (mouse wheel)

When in the iTunes library I have an issue using my scroll wheel on my mouse.
I use the Column Browser in iTunes.
Example: I click in the Artist area and type "L" to skip to the letter L. (which it does fine) Then I want to scroll to Life In Your Way... when I scroll using my mouse wheel, it automatically skips back to the top of the list and starts scrolling down through the A's. It scrolls... but why does it skip back to the top? It's very inconvenient.
    I'm using iTunes 10.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit OS.
    Thanks.

same problem here - on WinXP. very annoying.

  • How do make the mouse wheel scroll in my Flex app/component instead of the browser?

Let's say I have a DataGrid or Tree or List component which
has hundreds of rows. When I place my mouse over the component and
scroll the mouse wheel, I notice that [most of the time] it scrolls
the component a little, then starts scrolling the browser window. I
want it to only scroll the component until it reaches the end of
    the rows. Any thoughts?

I have confronted the same issue.
Was anybody able to solve it?
I think mx.contorols.TextArea seems to do well.

  • SWF in iFrame - How to get mouse wheel to work

I have been searching for a solution to this for a few days
without any luck. I was hoping someone here may have come across
this problem and know of a solution, or know if it just is not
    possible.
I have a static page which consists of an iframe, picture and
a div with some links. The image is an image map and set to load
all links within the iframe. The flash itself is a 360 degree
panoramic view with hotspots (links) within the file that also
point to other pages. My issue is that the mouse wheel scroll is
supposed to be a zoom in/out feature, which work with the flash
file and full screen view. However, when the file is loaded within
the iframe, the scroll wheel on the mouse will only scroll the page
and will not interact with the flash file at all.
The problem seems to be with the following browsers (PC):
    Chrome 0.4
    Opera 9.5
    Firefox 3.0
The zoom works in IE6, although the page does scroll with it.
When I disabled the page from scrolling (see index2.html) the zoom
stops working. This is probably due to the code used to disable the
mouse. I really need to try to get the mouse wheel to zoom in
FireFox 3 though. The large majority of our visitors are PC users
with FireFox 3 or IE 7, so these are the two most important
    browsers to have working.
The pages are still currently under development but examples
    are online here:
    http://www.utoledo.edu/campus/virtualtour/maincampus/index.html
    -Normal page
    http://www.utoledo.edu/campus/virtualtour/maincampus/index2.html
    -Page with scrolling disabled
Does anyone have any ideas for a possible solution? Thanks
for taking the time to help.

As far as I know, there is no facility for detecting mouse scrolling wheel in JDK 1.3.
Check it in the later releases of JDK.

  • All-in-One Qosmio PX30t - Mouse wheel application interruptions

    hello there ...
for some reason my mouse wheel has been configured to switch to the start page (tiles).
I find this convenient while operating the desktop activities but during other applications its a bit irritating. Here are examples of what i mean:
    1. in google's chrome, i use the wheel extensively to open a new tab. now with 8.1 i cant as the wheel action takes me to start page (tiles)
    2. im playing Fable and the block action is set to the mouse wheel (make sense as its the most convenient for such task) but with the defaulted switching behavior .. every time i try to block ..im outta the game to the start page (tiles). I know i could avert this by re-configuring the action to a different button or key, but why not have it as is????
im not sure of these applications to be the only ones as its my first 8.1 use!
    thanks.

I'm inclined to agree. At first I thought Toshiba had simply remapped the Middle Mouse Button to bring up the start menu for whatever reason, but from what I can tell the PC actually registers the MMB as the Left Windows Key! Why anyone would think this was a good design idea I have no idea. For me it's just frustrating....
Anyway, I've so far found 2 ways around this:
First; using any other mouse, the MMB functions normally. So you could plug a regular USB or wireless mouse in and presto! Problem solved.
+Of course this is FAR less than ideal. One of the reasons I bought an all in one was for the clean look with matching keyboard and mouse. I don't want to give up a USB port when it already comes with the peripherals built in.+
The second option (The one I'm currently using) is to use key remapping software. I've remapped the Left Window Key to act as the Middle Mouse Button. Now my mouse functions normally.
+The problem with this solution is that the Windows Key on the keyboard now also works like a MMB. I remapped the "drop down menu" key to act as the LWIN key to compensate, but this solution is also far from ideal.+
I think Toshiba should release a firmware (or software??) update that either fixes this issue properly, or at least gives users the option to use the MMB as a MMB.

  • Flash freezes in Firefox when I scroll the mouse wheel over a drop down list or text field (possibly others as well).

Whenever I scroll in a drop down menu in Flash in Firefox (for example, I move the mouse wheel just one detent), it just continues scrolling on its own all the way to the bottom of the list and freezes all interaction for about 10 seconds.  It's really bizarre.
If I start click and dragging things, nothing happens, and then all of the sudden everything catches up and moves.  As an experienced programmer, I can say that it looks like some kind of queuing of keyboard/mouse events with delayed execution.   Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I found something from 2008 that sounds similar, although I am not using the sIFR they mentioned: sIFR mouse wheel scrolling freeze in Firefox - Stack Overflow
Seems to be a Firefox-specific issue, although it also seems to be something that has just recently started occurring since updating Firefox.
UPDATE:  I was checking my Firefox version in Help > About Firefox, and it showed version 33, but also had a pending update so I restarted Firefox.  The problem was no longer occurring at that point.  When I checked the version again, it said 33.0.2, but it also said "applying update", with another pending restart. I restarted Firefox again.  It's now stable at version 33.1.  So perhaps it was a problem with that particular version, or even a temporary issue with that running browser instance.

    Hi James,
Thank you for sharing your solution with us. It will help other users with a similar issue.

  • Why does my mouse wheel only scroll up in the catalog.  It works correctly in every other program.

When in a catalog folder and showing a single picture, the mouse wheel only scrolls up, not down.  This behavior is not seen in any program other than elements.  If more than one line of pictures is showing in the window, it works fine, both up and down scrolling.

  • NOTHING will allow me to mouse wheel scroll through fonts in CS6

OMG, I am about to have a coronary trying to find fonts!  I have looked on this forum for an answer that works and cannot find anything thus far.  First, WHY is it necessary for CS6 font list in the Character Pallet to take up 1/2 of my screen?!  Second, do i REALLY have to click the little arrows at the top and bottom of the font list to scroll through fonts, ONE.BY.ONE?  Typing the first letter does not work either, it takes me to say the "D" fonts but when i click the drop down arrow to see my list of "D's", it shows a list from the top, not the D section.  I REALLY hope I am missing something here, because seriously, this is totally unusable.
ETA:  Going to the TYPE>FONT menu at the top does not scroll either and Photoshop CS6 works beautifully...
ETA (again):  i CAN scroll through the menu on the top (under the FILE-EDIT-etc menus), but there is no font preview (and it is selected as med in preferences)

Thank you for the reply.  System is a fairly new Windows 7, 64 bit, plenty of RAM, hard drive space, i5 dual core processor.  To have this issue in Illustrator only and not in Photoshop seems less likely a software conflict (just guessing)?  I attached screen shots.
Character Pallet drop down (mouse wheel, keyboard arrows, typing a letter key...all do nothing)  Only way to navigate is by hitting the little arrows on the top/bottom of the drop down.  And no scroll bar?
Top Menu Drop Down - scrolls, hit a letter key and works, arrow keys work.  Could use this permanently, but there is no font preview..
All of what you said works on your system, is how I would expect it to be programmed.  Partially making sure this is not the way it was designed, and hoping to find a fix for why its not working correctly.
    Main programs installed:
    Firefox
    MS Office 2007
    quickbooks
CS3 Design suite (I JUST upgraded to CS6 and have kept it there for a backup...probably can uninstall now if that could be an issue)
Thank you for any advice and if you would like to upload the video, that would be great.

  • Mouse wheel control isolation in html embed

I've been working on building a flash website, embedding it in html, and have one minor annoying feature that I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of... I've got it so that when the mouse hovers over scrollable content, the mousewheel can be used to scroll the text up and down - if the mouse is over other content in the embedded flash, it doesn't scroll that text section, just the browser window, which is perfect. The problem is that while the mousewheel is scrolling the proper text up and down, the browser is also affected, causing the whole page to bobble up and down as well (the network I'm building it on prevents scaling to fit multiple resolutions, so I'm stuck with fitting it to the resolution that most of our computers use and having other users deal with it being a little small or a little oversized). Is there some way to adjust the code so that when the scrollable text area picks up on the mouseover listen event to allow scrolling via mousewheel, it turns off the browser's scrolling, or am I just stuck with it?

The issue is that once scrolling has reached the bottom of the text area, and there is no more downward scrolling possible, the mouse's scroll wheel starts affecting the browser. The browser is, at this point, now capturing the mosue wheel event, and doing what it "thinks" it should be doing (default behavior). In your case, you want to prevent that...I think what you are looking for is a JavaScript solution (which I don't know of) that prevents the HTML page from receiving the mouse wheel scroll event. It is probably a tag-team effort of Flash getting focus (such as when it's been clicked on), and Flash losing focus, while telling JavaScript that fact so it can prevent handling the wheel event.
Here are some links for more background info:
    http://www.nbilyk.com/flash-prevent-browser-scroll
    http://fcontheweb.com/articles/scrollwheel/
A seperate suggestion that probably does nothing to help you out is to recommend if there is a Flash application in HTML, that it be the only application, without other HTML content requiring page scrolling. This is more of an overall design issue, as the rules of reality apply, not very practical for every case, either ;-)

  • Scrolling/mouse wheel improvments (VTE-like) in urxvt

I like urxvt a lot, but there's one little thing that always annoyed me, especially since I used to use XFCE's terminal which, like (I assume) all VTE-based terminals, behaves differently.
Like pretty much all other emulators, urxvt supports using the mouse wheel to scroll in the terminal's buffer; But, unlike some others, that is all it does.
Other (VTE-based) terminals, when running an application that uses the "secondary screen"(*), will disable their scrollbar, and instead you can use the wheel to interact with said application. For example, when in `less` or `man` you can scroll around using the mouse wheel. And it's a really nice thing, because it feels very natural (to me, at least).
(*) not sure whether this is the "official" term or not, but at least that's how it's called in urxvt.
And it is the one thing that always annoyed me about urxvt: even in such applications, the mouse wheel will simply scroll through urxvt's own buffer. So I finally decided to grab the source code and have a look, and lucky enough it turned out to be pretty easy to change things.
Introducing a new option: secondaryWheel (ssw)
Yeah, that name might not be the best, but it goes along side secondaryScreen (ssc) - which is obviously required for this to work at all - as well as secondaryScroll (ssr) - with which, IMHO, it is somewhat related. So, there you go.
What this new option does, is pretty simple: when using the mouse wheel, if you're on secondary screen then no scrolling will occur, and instead some (3, to be exact) "fake" keystrokes will be sent to the running application. So, a wheel up will have the same result as pressing the Up key three times, and wheel down will do the same as pressing 3 times the Down key.
Easy enough, but that does the trick: now when running `man`, `less` or any other application that uses the secondary screen, you can use the mouse wheel to move around (or whatever said application would do, if you pressed the Up/Down keys). It should be noted that I'm not sure this is actually how things are done in VTE-based terminals - I never checked - but this does the job, so it works for me.
This is just another option (disabled by default), so you can either use it from command-line (ssw), or specify it in your .Xdefaults using it's long-name: secondaryWheel
Like I mentioned earlier, I believe this option is related to secondaryScroll, as in it works best if you disable it, while enabling secondaryWheel
That way, not only can you use your mouse wheel to scroll around in those applications, but whatever you do here will not "mess up" your scrolling buffer (on primary screen). That's how I use it, and I really like it that way.
    Less blah, more download
The modified source code is available on this BitBucket repository. Note that it not only features this patch, but also this great one from rlblaster.
Or, you can also simply use this PKGBUILD.
Note: The PKGBUILD includes both patches, and also uses different compilation options (than the official package) to disable utmp/wtmp support and tabbed support. This is mainly because I don't use those, plus I beleive that utmp/wtmp doesn't actually work anyway (it would require setuid to be set, which isn't the case in the official package. Though, I did include the required lines (commented out) in the PKGBUILD; should you want to use it, you can simply uncomment them, and don't forget to change the options as well).
And of course bug reports, suggestions or any other form of constructive criticism is very much welcome.

Sorry for the necro-bump, but I found this thread while troubleshooting an issue with scrolling in urxvt.
This is the precise patch I was looking for, but the link to PKGBUILD in the OP's post is broken.
Here is the direct link to the AUR package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rxvt … -scrolling
Also this patch is great. I moved over from Gentoo who includes this patch in the rxvt-unicode ebuild so I never really knew about it.
Moving to Arch caused some frustration as this patch wasn't included and I had no idea what was wrong.
Anyway, this package is great and I hope it's maintained forever and ever (or for as long as I use urxvt).

  • CS5.5 Faster? Not with my mouse wheel

I worked with 1.5 daily for years and used the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of a waveform. It became second nature. I use it literally ALL THE TIME. Now that I'm testing the CS5.5 Trial version, I have come to a stall. The mouse wheel works....sort of...but very slowly and delayed. For me, with what we do, it is a major issue. It slows me down in editing and cleaning up clicks, pops, mouse noise, etc on a waveform. To have to click on + or - means I have to take my hand off the mouse and move it to keybroard and back to the mouse. That may not seem like much but when you are accustomed to working rapidly, it's a big deal.
The question is...why is it so slow to react? I thought CS5.5 was faster.  Is there a way to make the mouse wheel work like it did in 1.5?
Does the fact that CS5.5 is Mac-available have something to do with this.?
I am trying hard to adapt to CS5.5 but have a list of issues that I have with it. (I'll get to those later) The lazy mouse-wheel is a big one for me.
    Alex

Sorry Alex, I just don't see that behaviour here!
I've just done a "quick test"; a 24 minutes long wav file, I can zoom from the full waveform to a 6 second section with 4 "moves" of the mouse wheel and without any delay..  I don't think I would want it any faster than that!  Is it substantially different for you?

  • Why am I unable to scroll through bookmarks with mouse wheel anymore?

Used to be able to scroll through bookmarks with mouse wheel, now I am unable to. I have tried reinstalling firefox and disabling all addons but same problem. Please help!

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.
