Move a table on a page spread.

My document is a 2015 calendar inherited from a third party. Days 1-30 of November are in a table grid which is misaligned from its parent page and needs to be moved.
Borrowing from recollections in Adobe I  seem to be missing the familiar array of tools, one of which, when selected, allows user to movoe the selected object.
In the case of my calendar the table of days for November 10-30 needs to be moved so that other elements of that month (holidays, moot phases, previous/next month) are correctly located within the 1-30, etc., array. Hope I am making myself clear here.
How does one enable the 'move' tool when editing a spread in inDesign? With that ability I might be able to make the required move.

Tables are created within text frames. If you want to move a table, you have to move the frame that holds the table. If the text frame can't be moved, it may be either:
Locked on the document page
Is on a locked layer
Is on the master page (in which case, either release it from the master, or move it to a document page)
Is on a master page, and is also locked or on a locked layer
Does that help, or do you need more info?

  • How can I insert/move a table cell in Pages?

    I'm making labels for tab dividers (specifically, for dividers in comic book boxes) and I'm trying to figure out how I can insert an empty cell in the table. Or move the other cells over/down and have them "wrap" from the end of the row to the beginning of the next row if neccessary. Can this be done?

    KonKrypton wrote:
    Jerrold, I can do that, but I was hoping for a way to "scootch over" the cells so I can keep them in order. That would require me to cut and paste every cell from the target cell to the end of the document (or page). I have a feeling that what I'm looking for doesn't exist.
    Thanks, I appreciate the idea.
    Kon,
    It would be easy to move a group of rows, but there's no way to get it to snake down or up. This is a 2-D array, not not a linear array that has been meandered into a rectangle. You could write an expression to do this, but it would take several steps, and would involve a second table. You could also write an Applescript to do what you want. All of this seems a lot of work for what, as Peter notes, seems a rather simple result.

  • How do I move a table with radio buttons to another page?

    I created a document in Word, converted to PDF, added a page (which was created in Adobe Forms Central, only way to get a table with radio buttons - see below for example).
    The issue I have is whilst using the Trial of Adobe XI Pro I was able to move this table up a page and place it under the header.  Now that the trial has run out I cannot complete this task with other documents.
    I started to edit using LiveCycle but it won't let me move the table.
    We have Acrobat X Pro but when I go to edit, it directs me to edit in LiveCycle.  I have tried moving the table using all of these programs.  Can anyone help/guide please?

    Thank you for your reply.  I am new to editing a pdf and using these programs. I have subscribed to Acrobat XI Pro.  When I try to edit the document it directs me to LiveCycle.  I cannot move the table in LiveCycle.  It won't let me, and I cannot make changes in XI Pro as I did in the trial as it directs me to edit in LiveCycle.  Am going in circles.

    Thank you for your attention

    Adobe has been trying this and the product is called Muse ( Web design software | Download free Adobe Muse CC trial ).  It doesn't give you the control over the code that most developers prefer but it could help bridge the gap for design if that is what you are looking for.

  • How do I make a table span multiple pages?

    Hello,
    My team and I use a Pages doc with several tables in it. The size of these tables (i.e. the number of rows in the table) change every week. Before upgrading to Yosemite, whenever a table extended beyond one page it would continue on the next with the same headers as the original table. For some reason, the tables now instead"shift" to the next page once the number of rows becomes too much for the current page.... That is unless it is the only table on on the page, in which case it will perform in the desired manner. However, if there are multiple tables on a page, the table will move to the next page, leaving a big blank space where it used to be. I have tried playing with the "Arrange" area to no avail. I can make the table float and create a new table on the next page once the rows become too numerous, but this is not ideal. Has this feature been removed from the new pages or am I just not looking in the right place?
    Thanks,

  • How do I split a table over two pages in Pages?

    Hi
    I'm trying to split a table in Pages so that the text in the two adjacent rows will fall on two separate pages but I cannot find a way to do this. This was something that is easy to do if using MS Word so I can't believe it would be a feature missing from Pages?
    The document I'm working with is my resume and I had my jobs nicely formatted in a long table so it was easy to work with (job title, dates, achievements etc. in different cells). Since updating to Yosemite and Pages 5.5 I've noticed that I now have my career summary and 'Professional Experience' title on the first page but the table with all my job information is now starting on the second page - leaving just a lot of blank space on the first page. One of the jobs on the second page now also splits across pages 2 and 3. I can see that it is trying to keep everything in the table together and that what I need to do is just split the table at a certain point so that I can put the first part of the table back onto page 1 and the second part of it on page 2 - but it won't give me any option to do this.
    Any ideas?

    Although this thread is several months old, I felt compelled to reply as I have just encountered this gaping hole in Pages functionality.  Jerrold Green 1 is incorrect in asserting that the OP's problem is that Pages won't split a cell across pages.  The OP clearly indicates that Pages is not moving rows that won't fit on the first page of the table, but rather it moves the whole table to the next page.
    So for example, if I have a paragraph of text at the top of page 1, and then insert a table under this paragraph that contains more rows than will fit on the remainder of the page, rather than the rows that won't fit being moved to page 2, Pages moves the entire table to page 2 leaving a big blank space on page 1.  But bizarrely if the table contains more rows than will fit on one whole page, then it will move the overflow rows onto the third page, making you wonder why it didn't just do this on page 1.
    This is with the table arrangement set to Move with Text.  If I set it to Stay on Page, the end of the table just flows over the footer and off the page into oblivion.  If I set Text Wrap to None, it just plonks the table right on top of the other text.  So it gives you the option to do something silly, but not the most sensible option.
    If I am missing something, then can someone please correct me.  Without this basic functionality Pages cannot be considered a professional Word Processor.  I'll unfortunately have to go back to MS Word.

  • How can i print a one page spread sheet without having it spread over several sheets of paper none of which is complete?

    I have an iMac less than 1 year old with lion o/s and numbers. i have been spoiled in the printing of spread sheets on PC's. I find it impossible to print only 1 page when printing a single page spread sheet. The result is my spread sheet spread over several sheets of paper with no usable spread sheet printed. Can anyone help this 86 year old man who has been to the Apple Store twice to learn this but I still have trouble. Thanks in advance for your help. jim

    Jim,
    Take heart.  We can help.
    First turn on page view so you can see how the content of your sheet fits on the page(s).  A Numbers document contains sheets (listed on the left) which in turn contain tables, charts, text, and graphics.  Select the sheet you want to print on the left, then enable page view by selecting the menu item:
    "View > Show Print View":
    Now you should see your content and how it fits on one, or more, pages.  If thie content is too big for one page use the controls and the bottom left of the window to expose the sheet controls:
    Here a table is too big to fit on one page:
    slide the "Content Scale" slider so the content fits:

    Hi I'm running Addressbook and cannot clear previous entry easily when searching my data base of around 5,000 contacts.
    I prefer to view in All contacts on a double page spread with details on the right page.  Searching doesn't seem to work correctly in this view.
    It's always the second search that is problematic.
    I've tried typing over and all it seems to do is confine the search to the the entries that have come up for the previous search.
    I've tried to use the x to clear the previous entry and then type the next search, same problem.  The only way seems to be to move from "All Contacts" to "Groups".  Then the searched name appears and I can return to All Contacts to see full details.
    Surely three key press' are not the way it's supposed to work?

  • IBooks two page spread for children's picture ebooks

    Hi,
    I am creating a children's ebook for iBooks and I'd like to get the following result (taken from Peppa Pig: Tiny Creatures, published on iTunes for iBooks):
    The final picture ebook should have a gutter/seam in the center, 2 page spread and pages that stack when flipped.
    I saw in this post that iBooks Author can't do that and we should use use Pages instead, exporting the book as an ePub to iTunes.
    But how can I do this in practice with Pages? I see that Pages doesn't export the file to ePub if certain layout features are enabled and that we should follow a strict procedure to create an ePub with Pages, as described in the "ePub Best Practices".
    Now, if I follow the ePub Best Practices template, I come out with a pretty dull design, good only for novels or similar.
    In particular, how can I spread a picture across two pages in Pages and get that rendered by iBooks?
    For example, if I want a picture to spread across 2 pages (as shown in the picture above), do I need to place the image in a "single" landscape page in Pages, and that will be spread across 2 pages when viewed in iBooks? Or should I choose a spread layout in Pages and that will be correctly picked up by iBooks, which will also add the seam effect in the middle of the book?
    Thanks.

    This isn't something you need to pull a lever to do in Pages. It is part of the default navigation in iBooks when a standard epub is displayed.
    As for that 'spread' image, I suspect it is actually two...left and right.
    Suggest you move to the Pages forums for details...?

  • Creating 2 page spread in portrait mode...

    I plan to do my folio only in portrait mode. I have noticed in various digital publications (like Fast Company) advertisements that cover what would be considered a "spread" in the print world.
    It is my assumption to do this the "ad" would need to be suppled or created in two diffrent files. One file would have the left hand side of the page and the other the right hand side of the page (perfect splice of course).
    Then they are uploaded as seperate files then once the folio is created the end user would just swipe from the left hand side of the spread to the right. They appear as sepeate pages in the quick view mode. Repeat process for 3 page 4 page portrait only spread etc..
    I'd also like to make a lead spread for a story. I assume take this approach (mentioned above) and the right hand/second page of the spread would be connected to the document that includes the full editorial.
    Am I missing anything? Or am I wrong in my perception of how to create these portrait only spreads
    Another way I thought of creating spreads is just to place a image (built to 1280 x 720 ) into a scrolling text box on a single portrait page and have the user swipe in a horizontal direction only and then they can swipe down  to read the full editorial.
    Sorry if it sounds elementary but I just want to double check my assumption on how its done before laying it out and want to tell my advertisers once they decide to supply a 2 page spread ad for the first time as many of them are used to creating traditonal print spreads.
    thanks in advance.

    Your thinking is right. Your best approach is to split them into two pages and upload them as separate articles. If aligned well, from the reader's standpoint, it looks like a two-page spread when reading.
    Putting it into a scrollable frame is problematic as the user won't be able to swipe horiziontally to the next article. The scrollable frame will catch that horizontal movement and use it to scroll the content inside the frame.

  • Book Module: Export to PDF and Blurb stops with error at two page spread

    I have a 66 page book created in the book module..
    When exporting to PDF the export stops with the error:
    "An error occurred while saving the book.
    There was an error creating the PDF file. "
    The same occurs (at the same book page) when exporting to BLURB
    "An error occurred while creating the book."
    The creation or export always stops at the same page which is a two page spread. Interestingly there is a two-page spread before that didn't throw an error. I tried to move the problem page to the end of the book. That didn't help because the next two page spread in the book throws an error.
    Any ideas or help?
    Lightroom version: 4.0
    Computer: Windows 7, Quadcore, 8 GB RAM

    Hi, sorry I do not have a solution but I too have a very similar issue in that the book is the same size but the export to PDF does not start at all
    I have tried reducing the image dpi settings. Jpg quality and still nothing
    The only success I have had is if I duplicate the book, delete all but 8 pages and then export at full dpi settings of 300 and 100 percent jpg quality
    Any more pages and nothing
    It's a great tool and would buy it if this feature actually worked. Oh yeah I only have the trial version at the minute to give it a good thorough test
    I have looked for solutions but like your query they are all unanswered
    Does adobe actually offer any support or is this all user solutions?
    Did you find a solution by the way?

  • What is the best way to do a double page spread for a magazine?

    I'm in the process of putting together a magazine and would like to do some double-page spreads in it, but my printer has requested that the magazine be sent to him as single pages.  If I set it up as 'facing pages' and then change it to single pages when I've finished, will this upset my double page layouts??

    Set it up as facing pages, then when you make the pdf DO NOT CLICK SPREADS.
    When  you click Spreads you are asking InDesign to produce a PDF where page 2-3 are joined, and 3-4 are joined etc.
    When you don't have Spreads selected then Indesign produces Single Page pdf.
    A single page is what is required by a printers with the pages running in reading order from page 1 - finish (for example).
    Do not attempt to impose the document yourself.
    Remember to include your crop marks and your bleed.
    Sidenote on crop marks and bleed:
    Crop marks are needed to trim the page to size when printed. As printers can't  print right to edge of a sheet, and that it's near impossible to trim a  sheet of paper right to the edge of a colour - the colour needs to  extend past the crop line, this is called  bleed.
    When you bleed the document, i.e., extend any item that is tucked right  against the foredge (the edges opposite the spine), then you need to  extend this object off the page into a "bleed" area.
    This allows for human error when trimming the paper, as each sheet is  not trimmed individually (that would take forever!) they are stacked on  top of each other and trimmed in stacks. It would be impossible to stack  all the sheets exactly even, and there is movement on the press, so  compensating for the movement and the fact they can never be stacked  exactly even - for this reason you need objects to extend past the edge  of the page.
    The crop marks tell the guillotine operator where to trim the sheet. Once they have  the measurements in their guillotine machine it's a simple matter of  rinse and repeat with as many stacks of paper there are.
    And printers can sometimes fold and trim a print job folding machine,  and since it's a machine and you have to account for mechanical errors  and human error, you need bleed too.
    Bleed is important - If you don't add bleed then the object stops at the  foredge of the paper. And if the blade trims/crops close to the object  but misses by a sliver - then you have a sliver of white on the printed  piece, which is highly undesirable.
    So you need crop marks so the printers know where exactly to cut the paper, and to cut into  the bleed so that you don't have slivers of white.
    And yes you need crop marks even if you don't have bleed, if you  don't have any bleed it's likely that the edges of the paper are just  white, so there are no markings where to cut to give the correct size  that you want. So crop marks need to be included no matter what.
    And the placement of crop marks is important. As I said earlier, crop marks are  for letting the guillotine operator know where to trim the page so that  it cuts into the bleed area. The bleed area to allow for mechanical,  physical and human error. And seen as the bleed can sometimes be  included in a final printed piece it is not desirable to have anything  other than bleed objects in the bleed area.
    For this reason you offset your crop marks to be outside the bleed area. As I'm in  Europe I work mainly in millimeters, so I would set my Bleed Area to be 3-5  mm (check with your printers for what bleed you should allow) and I would set my crop marks to Offset by 1 mm more than the Bleed (i.e., 4 - 6mm).
    This ensures that the crop marks do not encroach the bleed area. If your crop marks do  encroach the bleed area you run the risk of the crop marks appearing on a final printed  piece.
    So in Summary
    Make sure you have bleed where necessary on your document.
    Add the desired amount of bleed - in my case 3-5 mm.
    Offset the crop marks so they don't encroach the bleed area - in my case 4-6mm.
    (bleed depends on the printers requirements - then make sure you offset your crop marks to be outside the bleed area).

  • How do I move a table in Dreamweaver CS4?

    Hi,
    I am creating my home page in Dreamweaver CS4 and I made a table. I cannot figure out how to move the table up to the top of the page where I want it. Any ideas on how to move a table?
    Thanks,

    Add this to your CSS code:
    body {margin:0; padding:0}
    And your table code should begin immediately after the <body> tag in your HTML.
    <body>
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td> something here</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    Incidentally, table-based layouts are NOT the best approach.  You might like to take this opportunity to learn how to work with CSS Layouts.  It is the modern web standard.

  • How to move floats to the next page?

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help me on this?
    How to move floats to the next page the same position?
    Thanks in advance

    @Learner – you can duplicate the object to the next page and remove the original.
    If the original one is anchored you also have to account for its position, because duplicating an anchored object will move it.
    Here an example for duplicating a selected object to the same page.
    //DuplicateAnchoredObject_SELECTION_SNIPPET.jsx
    //Uwe Laubender
    * @@@BUILDINFO@@@ DuplicateAnchoredObject_SELECTION_SNIPPET.jsx !Version! Fri Apr 12 2013 07:53:31 GMT+0200
    var sel = app.selection[0];
    var x = sel.geometricBounds[1];
    var y = sel.geometricBounds[0];
    //The duplicate() method without an optional argument:
    var dup = sel.duplicate();
    //NOW: the duplicated objects is at the inner border of the page
    //To move it to its original position we need the following:
    var xd = dup.geometricBounds[1];
    var yd = dup.geometricBounds[0];
    dup.move(undefined,[x-xd,y-yd]);
    That snippet can be enhanced for duplicating to a certain page, because the duplicate() methods can take arguments like "Page", "Layer", "Spread" etc. For details see the DOM documentation at:
    http://www.jongware.com/idjshelp.html
    One caution here: to make that work the way you want with facing pages, you have to take into account, that your coordinate system must be changed to "per page" by the property "RulerOrigin" of the ViewPreferences.
    This said, here is a working example for duplicating a selected object to page 3 of the current document:
    //DuplicateAnchoredObject_TO-DIFFERENT-PAGE_SELECTION_SNIPPET.jsx
    //Uwe Laubender
    * @@@BUILDINFO@@@ DuplicateAnchoredObject_TO-DIFFERENT-PAGE_SELECTION_SNIPPET.jsx !Version! Tue May 14 2013 10:11:29 GMT+0200
    var d=app.documents[0];
    var oldRulerOrigin = d.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin;
    var sel = app.selection[0];
    var x = sel.geometricBounds[1];
    var y = sel.geometricBounds[0];
    //In case of facing pages we change the ruler origin:
    d.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin = RulerOrigin.PAGE_ORIGIN;
    //Duplication of selected object:
    var dup = sel.duplicate(d.pages[2]);
    //NOW: the duplicated objects is at the inner border of the page
    //To move it to its original position we need the following:
    var xd = dup.geometricBounds[1];
    var yd = dup.geometricBounds[0];
    dup.move(undefined,[x-xd,y-yd]);
    //Restore the original ruler origin:
    d.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin = oldRulerOrigin;
    Of course, thiese snippets are working also with not anchored objects…
