Move gridcontrol to new server

hey,
i have a new server and has the same path names en os are the same.
i have to move my gridcontrol to the new server what are the step to do ore is there a simple movement because the os and path name are the same.

I would do the following:
- reinstall grid control on the new host
- backup repository database from old host
- stop grid control on the new host
- restore repository database to new host
- start grid control on new host
I don´t think that there is a supported way of moving the OMS to a new host. However if the new host has the same hostname and the same ip, same os patchlevel, etc. it could work. But as soon as the hostname is different, manually moving and replacing all the references to the old hostname is not recommended.

  • Best way to move WFE to new server

    We have one web front end server and one sql server.  I want to simply move the existing web frotn end server to new hardware.  What is the easiest way to do this?  Also, the last admin did not patch the existing site to SP2.  If I
    install Sharepoint 2007 sp2 and attach it to databases that are on the original Sharepoint 2007 RTM version, will it upgrade the database schema or will this cause problems?  We only have on site colelction with about 13 GB of data, its not a complicated
    environment but there is a lot of data there.  I want to do this as simply as possible, thanks.

    The basic three steps that need to followed while moving to new hardware are.
    Set up the new server farm
    Make sure the versions of database are the same in this step.
    Move the databases to the new server farm
    Since you don't have many webapplications, in fact just one, you could do an stsadm backup of the web application and restore it on the new web app. And then Apply SP2 along with all the other cumulative updates.
    You will have two farms running at the same time at this point providing redundancy.
    Shut down the old server farm
    That is probably the best approach I would prefer. You can always read the following technet article..

    Hope this helps.

  • Move database to new server from ASM to FS

    Hey, I have to move my database from ASM to filesystem storge (10.2.0.3 on sles 10 sp1)
    The new server is also sles 10 sp1.
    Can I just do an full export on the source site, and an import on the target site ? Will that work ?
    Any other steps to perform ?
    Chris

    Hi,
    1. Export db wlth FULL=Y . and then we have to create new database at target location and then import operation have to done.
    2.we can take rman backup, restore rman backup in target location. This method will reduce the complexity
    take backup through Rman.
    Target location:-
    1. export ORACLE_SID=xxx
    2. rman target /
    3. startup nomount
    4.RMAN> RESTORE CONTROLFILE FROM 'backup piece';
    5.RMAN> alter database mount;
    6.
    set newname for datafile '+DG/datafile.dbf' to 'FS/location';(do for all datafiles)
    restore database;
    switch datafile all;}
    7. alter database rename file '+DG/datafile.dbf' to 'FS/location';(do for all datafiles)
    8.alter database open;
    follow these steps from ASM TO FS.

  • Move DB to new server - Oracle Linux 4 old, Oracle Linux 5 on New

    We are planning on moving our Datawarehouse db to a new server.
    The old server has Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 and our server admin, using her infinite wisdom and after we agreed to keep the O/S the same - installed Oracle Linux 5.
    I was planning on installing the oracle_home, etc. all with the exact same names, the mount points would be the same so in theory, just start the db on the new server.
    Now that its a different version of the O/S - will it work?
    Has anyone tried this before?
    I will be trying with a small test DB but don't want to run into any gotchas when I try to "move" the 2.5t datawarehouse db.
    Thanks.

    Its certified, db version 10.2.0.4 but just about everything I've read via google etc. says if the db thinks the O/S is different, you have to use either exp/imp, datapump or tablespace move from one db to the other (really a copy and we don't have the disk space).
    Thanks.

  • Move appset to new server and new version

    Hi
    I am currently on 5.1, SQL 2005 and Windows 2003, where we have some performance issues. To see the effekt of an upgrade I would like to move my current appset to a new server with BPC 7.5 SQL 2008 and Windows 2008.
    How should I do this?
    Can I make a clean installaion of BPC 7.5 on SQL 2008 and then restore the 5.1 version appset into 7.5.
    What is the recommended way to do this.

    Hi,
    There is nothing to worry.
    You need to take the backup from the 5.1 system and restore it in 7.5 MS. After the restoration, please make sure that all the components are working fine or not. You might have to look at the security once again and the reports and the input schedules. There might be small small alterations / modifications required. However, there wont be any big development. There is only one area which needs little more concentration - SSIS packages. You might have to re-build the SSIS packages in SQL 2008. Another thing is that if you have any macros or VB in your templates, you might have to revisit them.
    As a whole, I dont see much challenge in this whole process.
    Hope this helps.

  • Break cluster and move databases to new server

    Hello everyone.  I have a question that may be basic but I am by no means a SQL person.  Right now we have a SQL 2005 cluster running on VM ESXi with a celerra backend storage.  Some drives are mapped Raw.  We recently put in a new
    VNX and we are not able to migrate the SQL server over due to how the drives are mapped.  I am thinking that I want to build a new SQL server and move the databases.  The new build will not be a cluster since we have point in time recovery manager
    from EMC.  Now my thinking is, can I break the cluster, move the 2nd node to the new ESXi and storage and present new storage or would it be best to just build a new server?  Is it easy enough to change an instance name after SQL is running?
    Several applications refer to the SQL Cluster and they are critical so I need something with least amount of downtime.  Would doing backup of all of SQL and then a restore to the new system be best?  Any thoughts or direction?  Thanks
    Joe M

    The most straightforward and reliable method is to build a new server, migrate the databases using backup/restore, test the new server, and cut-over by shutting down the old servers and either reconfiguring the client applications or renaming the new server
    to have the same network name as the old server's SQL Cluster Client Access point.
    You can also use DNS redirection instead of renaming the new server, although using a DNS hostname alias for your server requires some additional security configuration.  EG

  • Move ZDM to new server

    I am planning a migration NW 6.5 -> OES Linux by way of transfer ID and trying to figure out what to do with Zenworks. I have ZCM set up in testing and desperately hope that 10.2.2 will fix problems like slow login, but need to be prepared to keep ZDM 6.5 going if I have to. If I install ZDM on a new NW 6.5 server with a new name and IP, do I need to make this a replica server? I know I'll need to have zwsimport on the clients point to the new server. What would I need to do to make applications remain available? All paths to applications will remain the same after the oes migration. Any other gotchas I should be aware of? Thanks.

  • Move site to new server

    I've just moved a client's site to a new server. I'm sure I
    copied all the files over including the notes folders etc.
    After updating his ftp login info in Contribute, my client
    reports he can connect tothe site OK, but that Contribute is
    telling him that file(s) are not found.
    I am unsure how to resolve this issue. Are there particular
    files, like hidden files, that may not have gotten copied to the
    new server?
    If I cannot resolve this, would it be advisable to delete
    that site conneciton in Contribute and set up a new site. If so, do
    I need to go through the site and cancel the files Contribute
    stores on the server, and if so, which ones?
    He's using Contribute 3 on an XP box, he is set up as admin I
    think. I do not administer the site with Contribute, I use
    Dreamweaver.MX 2004.
    Also, if its relevant the existing html site files were
    modified in Dreamweaver during the transfer to the new server (just
    link changes and such).
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Flip

    Some things that helped us.
    If your client is the admin then the chances of them od
    adjusting the administration settings in Contribute is slim so....
    In an ftp program ( not dreamwearver as it hides it) delete
    the _notes folder off the server.
    Then get your client in the edit menu of Contribute go to "my
    connections" pick the one that is accociated with the site and
    delete it.
    Then make a new connection in Contribute and set the site up
    again. ie name ftp details etc...
    this is the quickest and easiest way to get them up and
    running again.
    If they still have trouble connecting to the pages sometime
    the options in the "Advanced" button next the the ftp settings can
    help.

  • Move OWB to new server OWb10g/DB10g

    Hello,
    We will be moving the test database to a new server, backing it up with RMAN and then doing a restore to the new server.

    Hi gladnn,
    There can be lot of things thats can be affected after moving, so watch out. Consider all, as much as possible.
    *Configuration parameters in files and directories (for example configuration file $ORACLE_HOME/owb/bin/admin/Runtime.properties)
    *system parameters "host name", ip address, sid name (for example in dblinks)

  • Use unused server as share point server after move databases to new server

    HI,
    we have a single server share point farm (ServerApp01) for Intranet and it connects to a SQL SERVER 2008 R2 database server (Server02),
    and now  we moved all sharepoint databases and content dbs to new sql server in different server (ServerSQLNew).
    using sqlalias we point to new SQLSERVER 2012 Instance in this new server.
    - now the old sql server (Server02), is not in the sharepoint  farm
    - now can i add this server in intranet farm and  use this old server (Server02) as wfe server ?
    here my doubt is  when i open cliconfg.exe i saw that sharepoint server pointing to this old server name (Server02),
    after i will join this server to existing farm is any issues?
    adil

    hi
    i already turned off sql server instance in old sql server in my case in Server02.
    In share
    point Server (ServerApp01) i opened cliconfg.exe and add sqlaliases to point to new sql server.
    If i rename  server02 server or rebuild
    the server with a clean OS install  still  Sharepoint Farm works right?
    below is the scenario of sqlalias in sharepointserver (serverapp01)

  • SCOM 2012 upgrade to R2 - Move SRS to new server

    I am currently working on an upgrade to our SCOM 2012 R1 environment to SCOM 2012 R2.  As part of this I would like to move our SRS database from running SQL 2008 Enterprise to SQL 2012 Standard to save some licensing costs.  The initial installation
    used Enterprise Edition when it is not needed for our configuration.
    Most of the procedures I have found for this involve also moving the OperationsManagerDW database and they seem to assume that the Data Warehouse DB and SRS/SCOM Reporting Roles are on the same server.  In my case i have 3 SQL instances:
    1 - OperationsManager (SQL 2008 Enterprise)
    2 - OperationsManagerDw (SQL 2008 Enterprise)
    3- SRS Report Server (SQL 2008 Enterprise)
    As part of the upgrade I am looking to perform an inplace upgrade from SQL 2008 Enterprise to SQL 2012 Enterprise for the OperationsManager and OperationsManagerDW database servers.  For the SRS database I would like to move that to a SQL Standard 2012
    Server.  I was hoping that I could perform this by trying to do the following steps prior to upgrade to R2:
    1 - Stand up new SQL 2008 Standard Edition SRS box
    2 - Uninstall Operations Reporting Role from current SRS Report Server running SQL 2008 Enterprise
    3 - Install Operation Reporting Server Role for SCOM onto new SQL 2008 Standard Server
    4 - Start SCOM upgrade -
    5 -  Upgrade in place all SQL 2008 instances in place to SQL 2012 Enterprise (OperationsManager and OperationsManagerDW) and Standard (SRS)
    6 - Perform standard application update steps for R2.
    Has anyone performed this downgrade for the SQL edition for SCOM before?  In looking at the instructions from Technet (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh457588.aspx)
    to perform this it appears to me that they are moving both the SRS and DataWarehouse databases and not just the SRS server like i am trying to.
    This would leave my SCOM 2012 environment running R2 with the following DB configuration:
    1 - OperationsManager (SQL 2012 Enterprise)
    2 - OperationsManagerDw (SQL 2012 Enterprise)
    3- SRS Report Server (SQL 2012 Standard)
    Any help is appreciated.  This is being done to help save $ for enterprise SQL licenses.
    ..Jon
    Jon Kaloz

    Hi, your solution will work but you can simplify the process as following
    1. Uninstall Operations Reporting Role from current SRS Report Server running SQL 2008 Enterprise and SQL server itself.
    2. Start SCOM upgrade
    3. Upgrade SQL 2008 Instances to 2012
    4. Stand up new SQL 2012 Standard for SRS (most possibly on the server where old SQL 2008 Enterprise with SSRS was installed ) and install SCOM Reporting feature on it

  • Move database to new server

    I hava Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 on Solaris 10.5 and wants to move it to Oracle 11.1.0.1.7 on same platform, but different server using exp/imp.
    I am not aware of any other precondiction I need to meet before carrying on this exp/emp. If there is a precondition, I will appreciate if you can share it.
    Does the database needs to shut down
    Do I need to copy any files from old database
    Here is my par file:
    userid = system/****
    file = /h/share/database/db/backups/CBEXP.dmp
    log = /h/share/database/db/backups/CBEXP.log
    statistics = none
    full = y

    You can do exp/imp if you have the same schema infrastructure and db objects at the target db. Otherwise you have to clone the database to the new target.
    1. Create a new DB with DBCA at the target server
    2. Shutdown the source and target databases
    3. Do a cold backup (which means copying all datafiles to the target directory)
    4. Startup the source db
    5. Create a backup control file on the target db such as follows;
    CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "<SID_of_clone_database>" RESETLOGS
    NOARCHIVELOG
    -- SET STANDBY TO MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE
    MAXLOGFILES 5
