MOVED: AMI bio flash interrupted!!!

So I just skimmed your code and did find some inneficency and a red flag for why your animations are just stopping.  I've had 1500 tweens running at once with good performance, so I'm sure you're not hitting Flash's performance threshhold with number of tweens.  The following code is suspect:
function revealContent(theObject:Object,theAlpha:Number):void
     var mynewalphaTween:Tween = new Tween(theObject,"alpha",None.easeNone,theObject.alpha,theAlpha,3,true);
Since you have no reference for the tween stored after execution of the function, the tween can get garbage collected mid run, very effectively ending the animation.  I'd store your tweens in an array, add an event listener and function to respond to it's completion, and remove the reference to the tween from the array when its complete.  Since the clean up code is generic, you'll only need 1 function and can add the same listener to all your tweens.  The above code is only one example from your code, you treat your tweens the same through out it all.
Also, your state change code, ie. function homeClick():void could be cleaner and abstracted.  You're pretty much brute force coding this part.  I'd suggest storing state information (object positions, ect.) in a data structure and conditionally loading the correct data set and running it through the same function.  Would cut your code down to 1/3 of what it is now.
I'm not seeing any code at all that handles the adding and removing of displayObjects from stage.  Not correctly handling this can cause HUGE performance problems.  Best practice, if you don't want something to be seen, remove it from stage.  Dropping an object's alpha to 0 or turning it's visibility to false does not stop it from being sent to the rendering engine.  Not to mention you can end up with objects on stage that have been forgotten about in code and will be persisted for the life of the session.
Hope it helps.

  • Ami Bios Flash

I was in the process of flashing my 5.1 KT600 FISR AMI BIOS to the 5.2 release to hopefully fix the 20 second hang after POST as I am using a single SATA drive, but could not actually run the command to flash the bios.
As instructed in the doc file, I made a Win98 boot disk and a disk containing the self-extracting file from the MSI website. Then I reset and booted up with the boot disk and copied the files from the disk containing the flash files to the ramdrive on c:\
When I ran the exe file I was supposed to, it gave me a line about Command Usage, and the commands. But I couldn't for the life of me get any of these commands to do anything!!
First, I typed in: DOSFLASH ROM_FILE /S    but just got I then realised that dosflash rom_file meant the exe file.
So I typed: EXE FILE.EXE /S   (can't remember the exe file name right now), but all this did was refresh the exe and brang up the commands and command usage again.
Am I doing this completely wrong?
I also copied over the over file along with the EXE file, a .520 file- I guess this file is needed if you actually run the EXE with a command, which I didn't work out how to do!!!
Can someone help me out?? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks
    Sam

Best to ask somebody that did it before or use LiveUpdate....

dont want to jinx anything, but we've made it farther than we have before. got it to the Windows Set Up.
cleaned off the thermal paste and reapplied.
Only 'real' change I made was the rear fan. I plugged it into the SysFan power on the mobo instead of directly of the PSU. Didn't find any specific info in the manual on where to plug that. Could have been it.
Will keep you posted if anything changes.
    Thanks!!!

  • K9A BIOS Flashing Question.

Ok this is a quick question regarding BIOS flashing,
When flashing the BIOS of the K9A Platinum, I should follow the AMI BIOS Flash Procedure
Instructions NOT the Award BIOS Flash Procedure or Flashing the BIOS for Non-FAT file system instructions, right? (my hdd drives are NTFS formatted).

I downloaded yesterday the Windows Proggie AMI gives for flashing the BIOS ... works like a charm
    nice as well
so 1.6 is hurting VGA performance you got 8800 GTX with lower scores when using 1.6 and just fine scores with 1.5.
crackedd got the same result, but with x1950 VGA.(https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=109699.msg814859#msg814859)

    Hi,
What happens when you power up, is it 'dead', or can you get as far as bios.
Is the bios chip socketed ( with ceramic kerb round it)or soldered.
If its socketed, you can swap bios chip easily, or even hot flash it on another Mobo.
Bios chips are available next day delivery from various web sites.
    http://www.badflash.com/
    http://www.flashbios.org/
On this forum  about a month ago, a link to buy a Bios Kit, a kit for each type of bios chip, as far as I could see, a small chip is placed under bios chip, then bios can be flashed. But would only work on socketed chips I think.  I am sure I save the details as I would like to buy the kits, but can't find it. A long search of threads sometime, if you find it let me know.
The rescue function CTRL + HOME, is much the same as the Flash Recovery on post page, but if you can't get it to post, then a blank floppy with the bios file renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM the only file on it.  Then booting rig with floppy in A:>, while holding the CTRL and HOME keys down, will start a flash recovery program, with which you could update the bios to  3.2 or 3.3
Lets know how you get on.

  • Bios flash on msi 6119 from AMI to AWARD !!

    Hi to all
    Motherboard ; MSI 6119 VER1.1 BX2
    Bios ; AmiBios ver1.9
    CPU ; Pentium 2,400mhz
All the above were included when I bought the PC which is a Packard Bell Platinum 2020.
I want to upgrade my processor and was thinking of using a Powerleap PL-iP3/T ,Tualatin 1.4ghz, processor upgrade. I believe I may need to upgrade my bios to accomodate this new processor, but because I have the latest AMI ver 1.9 update (and there is no further versions) I am thinking of upgrading my bios to the AWARD VER 2.9 BIOS.
Has anyone used the motherboard/processor and bios upgrade partnership before ??.
Would my bios upgrade from AMI to AWARD be a possability on my Packard bell PC ???.
Any help would be greatfully accepted.
    Cheers
    Fandango

    Thankyou for your reply Assaf.
Apparently Packard bell named my MoBo a 'TACOMA', and it seems that the latest (and no more to be) AMI bios upgrade is version 1.9. This is the version I have just recently flashed upto and my system appeared to behave just fine, so I installed the earlier mentioned processor upgrade and now windows boots very, very sloooowly. Also trying to work in any opened program gives the same slow response.
This is the reason for my original post about flashing from AMI to AWARD bios because the versions available are a lot more recent.
What exactly are the differences between an OEM and a retail MSI 6119 motherboard. Wouldn't they just be the same, with Packard Bell buying a cart load of them, changing the Mobo name to there own and shoving in a cheap bios chip. What damage could I do 'IF' things went wrong ????. If I have a saved version 1.9 (the original) on floppy wouldn't I just be able to re-flash that and be back at square one.
It would appear that one or two have tried this flash route as per this link   http://pb.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic?q=Y&a=tpc&s=657099322&f=194096607&m=3833075903   but being aware of the damage a bad flash can do was hoping for a bit more independant advise from you or those who may have similar to my set up and have achieved what I am trying to do.
Again any help you can offer is greatfully accepted.
    cheers

  • MOVED: Questions about flashing the Bios.

This topic has been moved to BIOS.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=93272.0

    hi alemaneitor,
    Regarding your questions:
    1. Yes, flashing the BIOS may help solve your problem as it will re-write the configurations on the CMOS. Take note though of the changelogs or README (repair changes) as the latest BIOS updates fixes critical issues on the hardware.
I've also seen some units that act the same as yours and doing a gpu reflow most of the time fixes the issue - see this thread in reference.
    2. In flashing the BIOS outside of Windows, it takes less than a minute. If you need to run the BIOS flash utility inside Windows, it may take 1-2mins.
    3. If there's a new BIOS that fixes critical issues, it's most of the time uploaded on the lenovo website (in some cases, BIOS updates are not available to the public and can only be used by service technicians)
    4. The latest BIOS update for the Lenovo G470 is the one below that fixes an issue on units that can not enter BIOS after restart under compatible HDD mode (see README.TXT)
    BIOS Update for 32bit Windows
    40cn33ww_32.exe
    3.28MB
    BIOS Update for 64bit Windows
    40cn33ww_64.exe
    3.67MB

I had a very similar experience.  Here is how I fixed it.
Download sp41954.exe from here  or search for it.
Double-click on the file to launch the application.  If you are running Vista or higher, close the program, go to where it extracted (C:\swsetup\sp41954) and find the file FirmwareUpdater.exe.  Right-click on the file and select properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".  Launch FirmwareUpdater.exe and create a bootable diskette.  If you are running XP, you can create the bootable diskette from the sp41954 directly.
Power off the laptop.  Connect the USB Floppy drive with the newly created diskette to the laptop.  Hold down all four arrow keys while turning on the laptop.  Continue to hold down the four arrow keys until you see either the num-lock or cap-lock key flashing ( don't remember which).  It should be reading from the diskette.  After a minute or so, the laptop should reboot and operate normally.
When I did this, I disconnected everything from the laptop and removed the battery.  I do not know if it was necessary to remove everything or not.
    Hope this helps.

  • MOVED: How to flash BIOS on new comp?

I have the above unit (I love it!!) with BIOS version 14CN51WW BIOS running UBUNTU9.04 (did not like the SUSE linux supplied. I hate the loud bleep when you remove the power adapter and also have had a few problems with LINUX hanging with the suspend mode - so I thought I might try to update the BIOS to the latest Version: 14CN67WW
However, how do you do this other than in Windows?
I tried to install Windows XP and 2000 onto a spare SATA disk that I installed into the IdeaPad - but halfway through the installation I get a stop error message saying computer is not ACPI compliant
The only other way I have is a Windows XP routine that loads XP into memory and allows a virtual disk - where I could install the BIOS files - but will this work if I flash from here - don't want to screw up the system board
Older IBM's had an executable file that ran from a DOS session and  flashed the BIOS
Anyone got any advice on how to approach this - before I actually do it

... not above 400 MHz FSB Clock Speed.  The memory bus frequency is tied to FSB Frequency.  The lowest possible ratio between FSB and Memory Frequency is 1:1.  Which ultimately means that when you raise the FSB Clock beyond 400 Mhz, then an effective memory speed of DDR2-800 (400 MHz) becomes impossible.  It will ALWAYS be higher than that, in a linear relation to the FSB Frequency you set.
okay, yea this was what I noticed too. Thanks.

post your mobo and system details, see if your mobo has a socket BIOS or is soldered, if is socketed then you can change the bios, also if you have a friend or somebody with the same mobo you can reflash your bios making a hot swap with the working mobo. good luck
    Oops,
It is a Neo Platinum  (7030) MB in an Antec Sonata Case, 2*512 OCZ memory, Seagate 120Gb SATA HD,  ATI 9800Pro.
The BIOS is socketed, but I don't know anyone who might have another MB like mine.  (Stupid question:  If BIOS doesn't boot in my machine, how do you reflash it in another PC?  Wouldn't it be just as dead if moved to another MB?)
    Thanks,
    Zen.

Don't update bios from windows, it very often ends badly.
At anyrate, try a full cmos clear >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
If you are unable to get it to post or recover, you will need an spi programmer from either msi or a decent computer shop.
Also, it MAY boot with your IVY cpu so that is worth a shot.
As a final note, if you need to send it for RMA as for the beta bios, as it has been reported to really rock.
z68a-gd80 (G3) I had to assume by what bios you used.
