1.in my old cabinet, the sata ports are old as is my usb...which is a version 2.0....the 6gbps sata and usb 3 on the MSI B85M-G43 are backwards compatible right?i wont have any problems will i?
the board has 2 USB 2.0 Connectors on the board so no issue there! SATA 6GBPs is backwards compatible with SATA 3GBPs and 1.5GBPs drives

2.are intel core i5 4440 and corsair vengeance 8gb 1600 mhz on the QVL of this motherboard?are they compatible?
The CPU is supported out the box with Any BIOS so no issue there as for the RAM it Depends on the model and there are 2 that have been tested on it: Corsair [Vengeance] CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10  and Corsair [Vengeance] CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10

3.i know ill have to clean install windows but the hdd will be compatible right?its a seagate barracuda 5400 rpm(or 7200...i dont remember)
any other things i should be mindful of while doing this mb upgrade?
the Drive should be Compatible as i see no reason it wouldn't! if you have installed a OS before you should just need to make sure you have the drivers that are needed before you start and it should be plain sailing!

  • New computer ~ Help with setting up

    Hi everyone, Newbie here!
I am going to set my new computer up tomorrow. The computer I am using at present was installed and set up by someone else so this will be a great learning curve for me. Also I had Infinity installed by the engineer.
Is everything I need to install relating to my broadband available to download? What do I need altogether? I spoke to a BT chap on the phone and he said he would help by remote access. I am a bit nervous of this!
I need to ensure my computer is safe and secure and it all seems technically daunting. Norton security came with  my Microsoft Office package. Is this better than McAfee (Net Protect Plus), do I need both? What about a key code scrambler  (someone mentioned this to me). As you can see I need reassurance and help arghhhhhhh.
A step by step guide would be great!
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is best not to install any of the BT software, just connect your computer to the BT Home hub using an Ethernet cable, or by using the wireless key, if its a wireless connected computers.
    See http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14964/~/getting-started-with-wireless
Using a direct cable connection is best, if you want to get maximum speed.
I would not allow anyone remote access, but if you have no choice, and cannot resolve the issue any other way, then make sure that it is as a direct result of you ringing BT, and not some random person ringing you at home, pretending to be from BT or even Microsoft.
Many people have been caught out by that type of call, and had their computer infected with spyware.
If you already have a trial version of Norton Security, then by all means use it until it expires, then uninstall it.
After that, you have the choice of using the free Microsoft Security Essentials, which is preferred by many forum members, or using BTs Netprotect which is free with some broadband packages. This has been known to make computers run more slowly though.
    That is all you need.
If you have any problems, then please return here.
If you have any problems with BT Infinity, then please visit the Infinity board on this forum.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

A blank page usually indicate that an exception is been thrown but cannot be displayed because the response is already started/committed/processed. Just read the appserver's logs as usual for the details.
Your servlet class does way too much. You're mingling all the processing steps together in one class. This is simply asking for trouble. Use a DAO class for accessing the DB. Use a JSP file for presentation. Use a business object to process the input/output data. Use a servlet for controlling the request. To start off, you may get some ideas out of this article and the JSP/Servlet follow-up: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/07/dao-tutorial-data-layer.html].
Oh, your JDBC code is not safe against SQL injection attacks either.

I am assuming that you backed-up and restored on new computer. If that is correct, you should have all the videos on new computer. Please confirm this and I guess that it's true.
Now problem is that your videos are played on new machine. Here are few things I would want you to try:-
    - Play these videos outside organizer. What happens?
    - Which format you are trying? If they are .mov or .mp4, install Quicktime and try...
If I am completely wrong in assuming the scenario, please help me understanding the problem.

  • New computer - help with iTunes, please?!

I got a new laptop earlier this summer. I had my iTunes, iTunes music (apps, TV shows, photos, etc), etc. transfered to this new laptop. I have also authorized this laptop. When I plug my iPod into the computer, it won't allow me to sync my iPod. It says I have items that were purchased on my iPod, and in my old iTunes library and this new computer is not autorized. It asks me to authorize it, so I click authorize it and everything, then it tells me the computer is already authorized. I tried de-authorizing it and re-authorizing it too. Still nothing.
Thing is, I deleted the songs I don't want anymore (the songs it says I purchased on my iPod, on the old computer with the other iTunes), so I don't know why it isn't working. The songs are not in my library or anything. Basically, I can't update / sync my iPod right now. I am leaving for college this next week and would really like it if my iPod was updated, etc. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Anyone know how to fix this? I have still lost 31 songs from my iPod because this new computer is still supposedly 'not authorized' even though it is. The songs are still in my iTunes library though.

  • Will the new Express help with this issue?

In one corner of my house (upstairs and opposite end of house from Time Capsule) I get lousy WiFi reception.
My upstairs has a previous generation Express connected to a Ethernet over Powerline extension from downstairs.  The EoPL is plugged into one of the LAN ports on the Time Capsule, and the Express is configured to extent the network.
Would the new dual band Express improve signal strength, particularly for my iPad?
The Mac's reception upstairs seems to be fine.

I can snag 2 AP Extremes from my home
If the hotel provides only wireless, then you will need at least one AirPort Express.....since it is the only device that can "join" a wireless network and then provide an Ethernet signal to a second AirPort. An AirPort Extreme does not have this type of capability.
So, in this setup, the Express is configured to "join" the hotel wireless network. Once that has been done, then connect an Ethernet cable from the Express to the WAN "O" port on the AIrPort Extreme and configure it to "create" a wireless network.
Once you have the Express and Extreme set up this way, you can take your laptop wherever you want and the network will continue to operate fine for other wireless clients that want to use it.
The hotel network only "sees" one device.....the AirPort Express....so, if the hotel charges for Internet use, you will only be charged for one connection.....even though the second AirPort is providing service for multiple clients.
Ideally, the hotel would have an Ethernet port in the room. Then, you only need one AirPort. Configure it to "create" a wireless network to provide service for multiple wireless clients.
In this type of setup, simply connect an Ethernet cable from the hotel wall port to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort.
Might be a good idea to call the hotel in advance to ask them what type of connections will be available in the room. You may only need to take one AirPort...and an Ethernet cable.
In either example above, you will have a Double NAT error message appear during the setup, just click to ignore that and the light will turn green on the AirPort "creating"' the network. Or, you can simply ignore the message and put up with a flashing amber light on the AirPort.

  • NEW USER - - HELP WITH SET UP PLEAS

Hey. I'm trying to connect a WRT54GS wireless router to my computer.  The modem that I'm using is connected to another computer. So i'm a little confused on how to connect them all. Please help!

    THIS SHOULD BE YOUR SETUP.
    MODEM------ROUTER-----COMPUTER
    1. Make sure that you can access the internet when the computer is directly connected to the modem
    2. Make sure that you are using an ethernet cable when the computer is connected to the modem. If you are using a USB cable - you need to contact your ISP to ask them to change the settings on the modem to use the ethernet cable.
    3. If you already verified that you can access the internet when directly connected to the modem using an ethernet cable, then run the cd that came with the router. It will provide you step by step instructions on how to connect the router.

  • New computer help with ipod

My old computer was stolen along with back up disks. I bought a new computer and I need to know how to transfer existing songs from my ipod to a new computer.

    Hi Deeg!
NOTE: The following steps and advice may or may not work on a Windows Vista PC, as they are meant for either Windows 2000 or XP. In short, you'll be basically doing these things at your own risk.
First, install the latest iTunes before you connect your iPod to your computer, if you haven’t done that already (to download iTunes, go here).
Then, when it comes time to connect your iPod to your computer, let's start out with preventing iTunes from automatically syncing with your iPod, which would delete all of the contents off of it. Although this is unlikely, let's go ahead and do it to be safe:
    1 - Open iTunes.
2 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
3 - Basically as soon as your iPod begins to display "Do Not Disconnect", begin to press and hold the Shift and Ctrl keys on your keyboard together simultaneously.
4 - Continue to hold these keys for about 20 seconds throughout the time that your iPod is showing up in the Source List in iTunes, and syncing.
After you've done this, click on your iPod's name in the Source List, and under the "Summary" tab, tick the "Manually manage" option for your iPod. Click the "Apply" button in the bottom-right corner to save your changes.
Also, when you connect your iPod to your computer, you will get a message that says: "The contents of the iPod "your iPod's name" is synced to another iTunes library. What would you like to do?"
Please make sure to click on "Cancel" when you receive this message, and NOT "Erase and Sync", or else your iPod's songs will be replaced with the current contents of your iTunes library, deleting anything that isn’t currently backed up.
After you've prevented your iPod's songs from being lost when doing that, we can transfer the iPod's songs to your computer.
There are a couple of methods in doing this, including the first method laid out in this post. (It also contains a link to MacMuse's post about iPod-to-computer transfer, as well)
The most straightforward method in copying your iPod's songs to your computer, however, might be to download a third-party program that can do this for you.
For example, if you are on a Windows computer, you can use YamiPod (I find it a fairly easy program to figure out and use with both of my iPods).
As a note, you will have to have iTunes closed when you run this program, though.

  • New Computer Help with FLVs

    Hey all,
I just started working on a new computer running XP. It's pretty much bare bones, and obviously doesn't have any of the needed codecs to play .flv files. I downloaded the Flash Player allowing videos in the browser to play, but I still don't have what I need to play flvs in my JavaFX programs (I get the unsupported media exceptions).
Could someone point me in the direction of a codec or player that will fix my JavaFX problem?
    Thank you!
    Chris

Ah ha! I figured it out. Media cannot be referenced if it's located within the source of the project. For instance, if your project has "mypackage/ui/media/Movie.flv", your program will not find the media. However, if you put it in the root directory like this: C:/media/Movie.flv and reference it like this:
    Media {
    ..source: "file://media/Movie.flv"
    }It will work!
