MOVED: X99S Gaming 7 - Debug 60-55-04-E0

Hate to double post but I could not see an option to edit my post with a timeline of sorts but anyways. I got home tonight and decided that I would just change the memory stick over to the 7 slot on the motherboard, it worked. I got into BIOS and figured that I would update the BIOS due to the recent changelog that stated that they improved memory compatibility.
After the update, it let me into Windows which then I booted down so I could install the rest of my RAM, well, it went back into debug codes. So this time I removed the 1 and 5 slot RAM but left 3 and 7 (for no discernible reason, that was just the two I picked, keeping 7 because it worked). It booted! So, while I am down to 8GB of RAM, and no longer with time since I need to get to bed for work in the morning, I have a functional computer and I believe now that it is most definitely my RAM causing my issues.
Assuming that this stays functional, then I will likely NOT post again unless I see that there are other options that are posted. I seem to have found out the root problem, and will update again if need be.

enter in bios setup to see the bios version,
or run >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< and exit, and check MSIHQ_INFO.TXT which will be created at your desktop
try killer drivers supplied with your CD/DVD
do you use latest firmware for it?
Bios version is E7885IMS V17.8, which seems to be the latest.
Killer drivers from the cd still gives the same problem.
Router is as up to date as it can get.

Once you have the module installed (It's WiFi+BT in one), everything else has to be done within Windows.

The board I got back from RMA is a new board. They didn't say to do anything.
I meant what they did, did they check the board?

RMA the CPU? Okay I haven't considered that. I will work on doing that next.
Two defective boards in a raw? Well, that does happen, but the same exact defect, time to blame something else.

    Thank you for your reply.
Sorry for shocking you with the oc genie stuff.
    It's ok, I wasn't shocked, I've seen it all.
Good luck with the RMA, and be careful dismounting/mounting the CPU not to damage the socket.
//EDIT: One more thing, do all installation and testing, outside the box on a non-conductive surface (wood, cardboard, NO antistatic bags), it will make your life easier and less chance to damage anything.

  • X99S GAMING 9 AC Not booting - Debug 94 code - Issue with GTX 980 SLI in WoW

Hello, I bought the X99S GAMING 9 AC motherboard but have ran into some issues.
The computer won't boot when I put my second MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4 GB card in the last PCEI 3.0 port (PCIE port 5) and I get the debug LED message 94 on the motherboard. I have a SLI setup.
The first card I have in the second PCIE 3.0 port due to the Noctua U14S CPU fan takes up space for the first slot. So I have been running my grafic cards in PCIE slot 2 and 4 with some issues.
First the card in slot 2 gets really warm over 86 celsius. And second: SLI runs really poorly in World of Warcraft. I get a lot higher performance with just one card activated. I am not sure if it's cause I am not running my cards in the recommended PCIE 3.0 ports or because WoW has some issues with SLI, but I heard other people have no issues at all with WoW in SLI.
I got the same issue with 3Dmark firestrike, the cards perform really poor in SLI. I get higher score with SLI turned off..
Though SLI seems to run pretty well in 3dmark 11 and Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls.
But the main issue right now, is that the computer won't boot with the grafic cards in PCIE port 2 and 5. The solution to run them next to each other is not good, cause it gets really hot and I get bad performance in WoW and Firestrike.
Picture of my setup before I switched places with the grafic cards as you can see, it is really tight:
Any upcoming bios updates (got v1.3) that will solve this issue on the horization? Hopefully this get sorted out really soon..
    My whole computer setup:
    Intel i7 5820K | MSI X99S Gaming 9 AC (bios 1.3) | SLI MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4GB | Samsung 850 Pro 512 GB | WD Red 4TB | G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 3000MHz 4x4GB | EVGA SuperNOVA P2 1000W | Noctua NH-U14S PnP | Fractal Design Define XL R2 | 5 Noctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm fans | Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

You must use the recommended PCIE slots as the manual says for your CPU type, PCIE #1 and PCIE #4 if I remember, just open the manual :P for optimal 2Way SLI, also your 5820k will limit to 28 pcie lanes only if you plan to add more vgas...the other problem is your giant CPU air cooler blocking PCIE#1, do a favor to yourself, buy a watercooler for your 5820k and your problems are gone, add some overclock in your system, low noise and better temps.
Here I use 3x980 in SLI with X99S Gaming 9 AC, going soon to WC the VGAs with EK blocks.....3way is far more temperature critical than 2way spaced one.
    Cheers

  • MOVED: Anyone get X99S Gaming 7 working with an XP941?

This topic has been moved to GAMING Motherboards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=183113.0

    HALF-FIX found!
    But another problem rises
    Alright here goes: disable XMP
I bought two MSI x99s SLI PLUS, in part because I wanted to use the XP941 and it was recommended by MSI
One of the board strangely was not offering any XMP settings, on the first one when booting to UEFI it would display an XMP button, on the first board I activated it, on the second one it was just not available even if the exact same ram was used (Corsair vengeance DDR4 2800). When installing windows I noticed the XP941 was showing up, I was very happy and basically assumed the other one was defective.
The RAM thing kept being annoying me though and I noticed in MSI Intel extreme utility that when running the RAM stress test it would just fill 3112MB of memory rather than the whole 16GB, I thought maybe my RAM was defective in some way so I plugged the first workstation back and turned it on and ran the stress test on it again only to notice it would not fill the RAM on this system either. Happy that this was normal I rebooted disable XMP and entered 2666 as the speed leaving the processor at base value, this way both station would be identical.
That's where the magic happened, the XP941 suddenly showed up in the disk management utility and I was able to format it.
I still cannot booth from it though but as far as my needs are concerned using it as a data drive is all I wanted.
the 2nd problem remain; why is one board offering me an XMP option and not the other, should I worry about having defective RAM? (BIOS version are identical 1.10, the latest).

  • MSI x99 Gaming 7 Debug code 04

If you familiar with flashing bios, you can try use the second bios to recover the first one.
    Manuel has some guide...
    BIOS recovery with AFUDOS command
When BIOS updating fails or causes the computer non-bootable, you can recover the
failed BIOS by the steps below.
    Preparation:
    1. Prepare a bootable USB flash drive.
    2. Download the latest BIOS file from the MSI official website at www.msi.com, and
    then decompress the file.
    3. Copy the AFUDE238.exe and the BIOS file to the bootable USB flash drive
    BIOS recovery steps:
    1. Power off the computer.
    2. Set the Multi-BIOS switch to the functional BIOS ROM.
    3. Insert the bootable USB flash drive you have made to the USB port.
    4. Boot the computer into the bootable USB flash drive.
    5. Set the Multi-BIOS switch to the failed BIOS ROM.
    6. Execute the below command to flash the BIOS:
    For example: AFUDE238 EXXXXIMS.XXX
    7. Restart the computer after the BIOS flashing is complete.
    Important

  • MSI X99S Gaming 7 and debug code 67

    Hi,
    I have MSI X99S Gaming 7 motherboard, Crucial 2x8GB 2133 DDR4, MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G, Corsair RM650, i7-5820k setup.
When I am trying to boot the machine it always stops and the debug led shows code 67. I have tried to take everything out, reseated processor and to boot with just the minimum set of components. Result is always the same code 67.
I am running out of ideas. Do you have any hints or should I just return the mobo and processor?
    Best Regards,
    juha

So are you going to RMA the board or just use it with 2 sticks? Thats means you are not planning on using it in quad channel, would be a waste.
Anyways if I were you I would definatly RMA it asap. This error 67 problem people are having seems to be widespread.  MSI really need to look into this.
As has been said previously, contact MSI. Should they look into it? Yes, but the moderators here are not MSI employees, and while we can bring issues to their attention, we cannot make them look into problems.
So if you have this problem, please contact MSI directly:  >>How to contact MSI.<<

    I'm using a Corsair CS650m.
I've noticed the CPU support issue after I encountered my problem and was surprised to see this, my understanding that the gaming boards did support the new Haswells, at least with a recent BIOS. In fact, there are some references online to BIOS update issues for this CPU.
Let me ask a crazy question: Is it possible that I've somehow POSTed correctly and what I'm seeing now is the CPU term? I'm wondering because the numbers (42-44) fluctuate a bit.  I know that POST and POST2 can be used for CPU temp, but I'm not sure how one distinguishes between that and a debug code.

  • MSI X99S Gaming 7 Won't Boot

    Hi -
I just recently purchased an X99S motherboard.  I put it all together, and all was fine for about 24 hours.  I updated the BIOS and then started running a defrag and left the machine on while I went to work.  When I got home, the machine was off. It's not responding to the power button the board or on my case.  If I turn the power off on my PSU and turn it back on and hit the power switch, I get a split second flash of lights and then nothing.  I initially thought that it was my power supply so I bought a new one.  I got that installed and same thing.  One thing to note is that the MSI LED up by the 24 pin connector is on red.  I've already tried the secondary BIOS and I have removed all of the memory except the DIMM in Slot 7. I haven't yet tried to remove the board from the case yet and tried it on a non conductive surface.  I just wanted to get some thoughts on that debug LED that is currently on. I believe the motherboard has just died, but wanted to run it by someone first.
    Here are my specs:
    Board: MSI X99S Gaming 7
    Bios: Version 14.7
    VGA:   MSI GTX980 Gaming
    PSU:   EVGA 1000 Watt G2
    CPU:  Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz
    MEM: Corsair Vengeance 2666 4x4gb CMK16GX4M4A2666C16
    HDD: PNY 256GB SSD
    COOLER: Corsair CWCH60 Water Cooler
    OC: None
    OS: Windows 8.1 64bit

Take it out of the case, place on non conductive surface (wooden table, motherboard box) and run it then. Also try with single RAM stick in every RAM slot.
Try clearing CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also make sure all power connectors are properly fitted in.
What way did you update the BIOS? Also was it successful?

  • Msi x99 gaming 9 ack problems

ok got my new msi x99 gaming 9 ack with i7 5930k and g.skill 2400 ram
    got my corsair ax1200i
so my problems i have been working on this all night near enough but today we have progress.
so problem is when i put ram in slot 1 would not post debug 04/55/60 no keyboard or signal to monitor. so i have finally got it working and got into the bios by put just one stick in slot 5. tried all 4 sticks in slot 5 but one failed at 6f so i think now one stick is faulty. but back to main problem with slot one.
once i had it booting up i switched off system and added 1 stick in slot one.
and it would not post debug 04/55/60.
so do i ram it or do you think bios update will fix this problem thanks in advance

Last night the exact same problem occurred to my Gaming 9 ACK.
Board worked flawlessly for three months with a 5960X processor, quad channel G.Skill 3.33 memory ( 16gb- 4x4 ) and four msi GTX980 gaming in quad sli mode.
Turned off the pc last night, and today, upon start the pc did not boot.
    04-55-60-04 and all over again.
Memory modules are populated in slots 1-3-5-7. After several try and error efforts, slot 7 is blocking the system from booting. All four modules checked and are fine.
Removed module in slot 7 and booted. No problem there.
After entering windows 7 environment, a second even bigger surprise surfaced.
NO SLI. Device manager sees only gtx980 in slot 1 and nothing else.
    New tests.
Only pci-e slot 1 works. All others are non functional.
So I am with an 8000$ pc, which works with 12gb triple channel memory and one VGA.
    Obviously motherboard has gone south.
    What now ???
